<title>Soulshack (Show 8) - Killer Jazz</title>
<description>I'm getting back into the whole podcast sharing stuff recently, mainly due to Facebook. Its great sharing one tune at a time with friends, but nothing beats a good set, so here goes. OK it's been some time, this show is long overdue. Some very classy jazz vibes for those ears of yours. Conjuring up Sunday mornings at Caister, Sunday afternoons at Dingwalls. Enjoy</description>

<title>Soulshack (Show 8) - Jon Lucien</title>
<description>It is with great regret that we hear of the death of Jon Lucien. Jon died on August 18th 2007 of respiratory problems and it is a very sad loss to the music world. Jon made some remarkable music that crossed over the soul and jazz spectrum. He was one of my all time favorite vocalists, especially the albums from the 70s, Minds Eye, Rashida and I Am Now. I have compiled a small tribute to Jon for this podcast. God bless you Jon, Rest in peace.

<title>Soulshack (Show 7) - Lamont Dozier</title>
<description>A showcase for probably the greatest songwriter of all time, the legendary Lamont Dozier. I really dont think that there is one person on this earth that hasnt heard or been moved by one of Doziers songs. Lamont Dozier teamed up with the Holland brothers at motown in the early sixties where they churned out hundreds of tunes like Baby Love, Where Did Our Love Go, Baby I Need Your Loving, You Can't Hurry Love, Reach Out, I'll Be There, How Sweet It Is (To Be Loved By You), Stop! In The Name of Love, Love Is Like An Itching In My Heart, Heat Wave, Nowhere to Run, Bernadette, It's The Same Old Song to name but a few. This podcast focuses on Doziers solo works and to be honest could have been a few hours long, so I have chosen a few personal faves. You really must visit http://www.lamontdozier.com/songlibrary.html and learn more about this legendary soul guru.

<title>Soulshack (Show 4) Simply Crossover</title>
<description>This show concentrates on crossover soul, a complicated subject that has caused many an argument between the Northern and Modern soul heads over the years. In a nutshell crossover soul sounds great and fits in well at both Northern and Modern soul gigs. Enjoy

<title>Soulshack - (Show 3) Jazz</title>
<description>This Podcast we are taking a break from the soul scene to venture over to the dance jazz side of things. As far back as the early seventies DJs such as Chris Hill were playing jazz to the loyal followers, this kind of Jazz was more uptempo and more suited to the dancefloor. The early eighties saw key London DJs specialise in this kind of music, the likes of Paul Murphy and Dr Bob Jones were sourcing and playing rare uptempo jazz combined with jazz funk and rare groove, the scene was born, with club nights springing up all over London.
Then came the big one, Jazz DJ guru, Gilles Peterson, who in 1986 after many years on the underground circuit, along with Patrick Forge took over Dingwalls in Camden every Sunday afternoon, this event was called Talkin Loud and was the ultimate in eclectic black music. The scene was vibrant, and attracted many from far and wide, it had its own fashion and dance styles. At the same time the Acid house scene was in full swing and for a giggle Gilles and fellow DJ Eddie Pillar called the music that they played Acid Jazz, and it stuck.
New artists such as the Brand New Heavies, Galliano and Jamiroquai were springing up everywhere and so Gilles created his own record label called Talking Loud, along with Eddie Pillars Acid Jazz label a whole new jazz scene emerged. The success of the Talkin Loud events and the Acid Jazz scene was huge and in 1990 a radio licence was granted and Jazz FM was born, with Gilles at the helm of course. However, it wasn't long before Gilles was fired after playing inappropriate music and making statements supporting peace during the Gulf War. Gilles Peterson can now be heard on radio one Worldwide, where he joins the dots between artists and music styles.

<title>Soulshack (Show 2) - SoulJazz</title>
<description>This Podcast focuses on SoulJazz, a term, which was coined back in the early 90s to describe a Soul sound with a Jazz vibe, these tracks wouldnt sound out of place in either a Jazz or Soul gig. These particular songs remind me of the encore tunes that Gilles Peterson and Patrick Forge would play on a Sunday afternoon at Dingwalls, just as you would be ready to walk out, boom, on came one of these tunes and you would do a 360 straight back inside! SoulJazz was also a record shop located above Dingwalls where much money changed hands for the rare tunes that were being played in the club below. Enjoy
