sorry for the no show n postings for the last 8 months? yeah. its been awhile alright. shit happened in which i had 2 switch focus my attention to other things in life.

no, its neither like switching from marijuana to methamphitamine, house to hip hop, straight sex to homosexuality nor mid life crisis (fuk u). i just feel like a road kill for that bus which goes to heaven.. lately.. i think.. . .ok?

and no, i am not on drugs even though i know some of u wish that i am fucked up on drugs & since most souls cant really cant tell when i am trippin or not anyway. they just like to be ignorantly smart 2 take wild guesses n pretend that they know me really really well.

most of the time i am just dwelling in my own world. with tunes playin in me head. heres one of it. its been ringing in my head under the warmth sun for days now.

2008 has been immensely fruitful for the Anjuna boys - they kicked off the year playing to one million (yes, 1,000,000!) people on New Years Eve 2007 in Rio. Their popularity is constantly on the rise which will set them in good stead for bettering their excellent #6 result in last year's DJ Mag Top 100 poll. Their Trance Around The World radioshow is consistently in the iTunes Top 10 Podcasts. They finally got round to releasing their OceanLab album and aside from a few other wicked singles releases they've now added Volume 6 to 2008's list of achievements - alongside multiple sell out appearances worldwide of course!

Yet another show of sheer strength from Above & Beyond and all the associated talent at Anjunabeats. It's amazing that time after time a label can deliver such consistently high results. And here it all is, packaged onto 2 CDs. You can't call yourself a fan of trance if you don't at least want to buy this album.

Red Snapper began in a sweaty rehearsal room in Hammersmith working their dirty jam of hiphop/jazz and rockabilly with sax player Alan Riding which soon became 3 eps on Thair and Dean Thatcher's label Flaw Recordings. With help from White Noise's Chris Butler and a belting set @ the Jazz Stage Glastonbury they secured a 'record deal' with Warp Records. There followed many European/UK shows with punkfunk vocalist Anna Haigh and Ex 'Pig Bag' sax player Ollie Moore.

The album 'Prince Blimey' was produced and mixed by the band and Tim Holmes (Death In Vegas) and released with great praise, Their subsequent live shows proved that drum and bass really could be played live. Snapper remixes of the likes of Garbage, David Holmes, Sabres of Paradise and Troublefunk furthered their reputation as a truly experimental act.
Rich, David and Ali worked with engineer Luke Gordon, Mc Det and Vocalist Allison David on their following album 'Making Bones' which found them supporting the likes of Massive Attack, Bjork and The Prodigy and playing Jules Holland on...'tv'. They were joined by analogue kidbadboy Jake Williams (Flameboy) in a much needed input of 808/loop frenzy.
By now the live show had become a fantastic blend of uk dirt jazz/hiphop/breaks with Det and Allison David leading the show....
The 3 went back into their Waterloo studio and produced another epic album involving vocalist Karim Kendra, MC Det and Mr Williams which resulted in more sellout shows and a bizarre departure from warp records.
'Red Snapper' is a much sought after final album on the fantastic Lo Recordings that combines some more journeys into sonic slackness in true 'snapper' form. Also check out the remix album ' redone'on Lo Recs.
In summer 2007 they were asked to headline a stage at the BigChill festival. Rich, David and Ali were joined onstage by youngblood Tom Challenger on sax, melodica and clarinet and Darius Kedros on sound/dub duty. The show was a great success with fans from all musical backgrounds and resulted in the band being commissioned to compose the music for the art/film installations run by Big Chill for the opening of Eurotunnel @ St.Pancras (see link for 'time out of place'). Winter 2007 saw Snapper in the studio recording new tracks with Tim Holmes(Death In Vegas), instrumental influences ranging from afrobeat, hendrix, rockabilly and surf. Live.... they promise to continue their relentless search for the real fuckoffjazz.

Mr Ozio's myspace was updated with some info about his eagerly awaited new album. The first LP has now been given a release date...17-11-08! Put it in your diaries!
He also uploaded an extract of "POSITIF" (play the above)...which sounds amazing! The whole package is fucking sweet, even down to the artwork and titles. Like N0mad on the EA forums pointed out, it seems some inspiration has been taken from a short movie called "Un chien andalou" (1928)!

Tobacco: Fucked Up Friends

My very first introduction to the dry-cured, sweetly flavored music of Tobacco was through his work with Pittsburgh pop monsters Black Moth Super Rainbow (BMSR). Around this time last year Aesop Rock had just dropped None Shall Pass, a circus sideshow of a record and one of his best efforts since the breakthrough Labor Days (2001). Through Aesop’s MySpace I saw that BMSR was opening for a bunch of dates on his tour. Being the MySpace slut that I am, I crept my way over to find out what kind of unkempt hippie collective had an album named Dandelion Gum (2007). I was immediately greeted by a combination of hallucinatory tape distortions, fuzzed-out keys, and jangled beats—the quintessential BMSR sound. I became an instant fan of the collective but it was the signature vocoder overdrive of Tobacco’s hymn-like lyrics that sealed the deal.

While Kanye West, T-Pain, and a host of other pop hustlers pimped their own auto-tuned meander out to the star-struck public last year, Tobacco was holed up in his native Pittsburgh sewing together what would become Fucked Up Friends. Touted by the artist, seemingly without the rest of the band’s affirmation, as the unofficial follow up to Dandelion Gum, this sixteen-song collection takes off into a different cerebral space than the beatific, mellotronic head phases of his regular gig. The playful harmonics and twisted melodic themes of BMSR are isolated by Tobacco in his lab and given thorough taffy-pulling, effectively stretching out time and space as we know it for as far as the eye can see. One in three adults will be addicted.

What makes Fucked Up Friends so appealing is the urgency of its escapist energy. From the very moment the needle drops the floodgate is opened wide for Tobacco’s maelstrom of accelerated sonic bombast; the deep, pulsating engine surges and shining synth notes of intro track “Sweet Trash” already act as a guide off course into his wayward retrofit territory. The first third of the album is a rocket ship ascending, towing (yanking) the listener up to Tobacco’s level of groove. The big, swollen hooks of “Truck Sweat” and “Hairy Candy” then numb the senses and equalize pressures while the buzzed out layers of syncopated synthesizer melodies on songs like “Hawker Boat” and “Yum Yum Cult” send one day-tripping, blue pill securely in hand.

"Hairy Candy" - Tobacco (WTF ARE DEY DOIN?)

Preceded by the plodding but hilarious interlude of “Get My Nails Did,” “Dirt” marks the midway point of the album and stands out as the highlight. Featuring guest raps by the venerable Aesop himself, this collabo breaks the “dreamier than thou” poise of the record and reveals an explosive dimension of genre blending inherent in Tobacco’s brand of controlled chaos. Aesop twists and turns on the dimes thrown down by Tobacco’s synth tweaks, jabberwocky-ing out a barrage of Joycian phrase. “Coyote commandant dine by the squatter’s dogs / Rot by the shaman’s ogling vomit a comet grog,” he bleats, “Overflood a levy hope it soaks the very roots / We animate the council as the topiary moves.” Some might say that this joint venture boils down to a pretty raw mix of each artist’s unorthodox styles, what with its loose cohesive theme (dust, dirt, and the colorful devolution of society) and wayward timing. Never mind them haters. The rough swing that these boys manage from their oddly balanced steezes is slick innovation.

Throughout the rest of the record Tobacco continues to toy with the time travel engage switch on his keyboard, taking the listener willy-nilly to the groove-soaked palaces of the past or the disembodied data streams of the future. “Gross Magik” and “Little Pink Riding Hood” are filled with the sonic signifiers of the same bygone eras of music that BMSR visit on record. Proto hip-hop beats combine with swaths of prog rock synth distortions, odd string section samples, and folky flute loops to create a neon storybook of sound for future generations to get down with. Time, you see, does not matter until Tobacco in his final stages relents and carries the hulk back to 2008 for some refined song structure (“Tape Eater”), break-beat pastiche (“Pink Goo”), and finesse that could only be summoned by a true contemporary throwback master (“Grease Wizard”).

If Tobacco’s artistic vision suffers from any ailment, it would be the noticeable stylistic uniformity that underlies the tracks. While this solo venture is a unique take on the sound developed with BMSR, his song structures and instrumentation are built-in with monotony, practically usurping the purpose of developing a creative solo project in the first place. Still, oversized hats off to Tobacco for constructing a work that can find a balance, though tenuous and garbled, between the mainstream and the freaked out. Welcome, all, to flavor cosmos.

Wannabe French trio Le Le will release their debut full-length early next month.

Pepijn Lanen, Pieter Janssen and Rimer Veeman claim to be from Champagne, France. Why? "In the mind we are all based in the region of champagne... It's all about making due with what's around us. There's a-holes and douchebaggery and fuckboy music and culture everywhere everyday, probably even in the Champagne area, but it's all about making it happen in the mind. It's about mixing and matching. Otherwise every day is another day." OK.

We've been poring over that quote for a day now and still quite haven't figured it out, but we've also been listening to the trio's album, Flage, as well which is a distracting bit of disco pop, New Wave and techno. It's the type of music you'd make with your friends—if your friends were from the Netherlands and constantly adopted a French accent. Or an English one: The group sings in English, Dutch, German and French throughout the album's fourteen songs, seemingly picking which language to go with right before the track begins.

Don't believe us? Check the video to "Breakfast" and hear the whole thing for yourself on November 3. Warning: The lyrics aren't exactly safe for work but I say its really gonna be alot of fun if your having a bored day at work!! =D. residentadvisor

2002's biggest track was without any doubt Umek's in-your-face techno banger Gatex. The track, consisting of not much more than a haunting synthesizer melody has been among the faves of countless DJ's such as Tiësto and Mauro Picotto and is still regarded by many as one of the hottest techno tracks ever made. This month sees the track being re-releases, including a remix by Irish techno rebel Fergie. Let's put it to the test then shall we?

Fergie's mix starts off with a solid mid-tempo kick while the original synth can already be heard on the background. The tune starts off rather moody, with lots shakers and nasty claps, while sinister synth keys and spooky delay make their way to the fore. Halfway the track, the synthesizer melody from the original is slowly introduced, with the break slowly building up tension by adding that monstrous semi-distorted synthesizer on top of the sequence. This will have clubbers waiting anxiously on the break.... guaranteed. The climax is top notch, with a deep kick and snippets of the original melody taking care of an earthquaking rhythm. A deliciously nasty remix!

The second and last track on the EP is the original version of Gatex, which still proves to be a first class techno monster with its sinister synths and intense, thick horror vibe. It's the techno soundtrack for any horror movie, still able to raise all hands at all times.

Acid house is a sub-genre of house music that emphasizes a repetitive, hypnotic and trance-like style, with samples or spoken lines usually used rather than sung lyrics. Acid house's core electronic squelch sounds were developed by mid-1980s DJs from Chicago who experimented with the Roland TB-303 electronic synthesizer-sequencer. Acid house spread to the United Kingdom, Australia, and continental Europe, where it was played by DJ's in the early rave scene. By the late 1980s, copycat tracks and acid house remixes brought the style into the mainstream, where it had some influence on pop and dance styles.

I am getting complaints from readers that there are pop-up / pop-under Ads on my websites like PrettyGirl2u and even this one. Huh? I don’t like pop-up / pop-under Ads. I will not put this kind of Ads on any of my websites. After checking with each of my advertisers… And I removed those suspected advertiser Ads. I thought there are no more pop-up / pop-under Ads. However, NO!!!

By the way, this is the example Ad that pop-up.

Finally, I discovered that it is the free Cbox that bring the pop-up Ads. Oh no… I did not know that because I have pop-up blocker turned on at Firefox and IE. I am sorry for the reader that doesn’t have this pop-up blocker. Therefore, I removed free Cbox. :D New chat box will coming out soon. Looking for another Ads free chat box currently…

Englishman of Malaysian origin & UK dance music pioneer Tim Simenon returned as Bomb The Bass this September with Future Chaos.

Simenon, who is often credited with helping to raise the profile of dance music in the UK through his classic "Beat Dis" single, has been relatively quiet since 2001's Tracks, a 12-inch collaboration with Meat Beat Manifesto's Jack Dangers. It hasn't been for lack of inspiration, however. Instead, the producer has been working quietly on things ever since. But after building up a number of tracks for a proposed album, Simenon trashed the results, deciding to strip everything down to a Minimoog synth and little else. "There's so much that goes around producing records; doing things this way and that. But this was us saying, Fuck it, let’s just record some tunes, you know," says Simenon in the press notes accompanying the album.

Bomb The Bass - Beat This (1988)

Along for the ride are some indie favorites: Jon Spencer, Mark Lanegan (Queens of the Stone Age), Paul Conboy, and David Best (Fujiya & Miyagi) all turn up in some capacity—mostly providing vocals to Simenon's dark tunes. Collaboration, of course, is Simenon's specialty: he was the one behind the decks on Neneh Cherry's "Buffalo Stance" and Seal's "Crazy." That said, we expect the results on Future Chaos to be a tad rawer than those studio confections. Note: early fans to the party will get the chance to grab a limited edition second disc, chock full of remixes from acts like Various Production, Gui Boratto, Michael Fakesch, and more.

K7 released Bomb The Bass's Future Chaos on September 15, 2008 in Europe and two weeks later in the United States.

Josh Gabriel's debut album is called "Eight" and is set for release on October 8, 2008. "Eight" refers to the eight different analog synths he used on the album.
October 08, 2008 — Amsterdam, The Netherlands — Josh Gabriel dove inside to explore and ended up unleashing his own personality with "Eight," a record that pushed his limits. Each track is crafted to the extreme and aimed at making a dance album for purists. Gabriel's album may be ahead of its time, but prepare to journey into the future with him. He challenged himself to make music in new ways, approaching each song as a unique concept that fit into a larger framework - both technically and musically – a path not well traveled by most artists in this genre.

As a marked departure from his previous work, Gabriel’s solo work hones in on his darker, effusive musical house and techno side. Excitement builds from the first track, showing Gabriel as creative and thoughtful. Going deeper, the tracks have a seamless build climbing from 123 to 133 BPMs at the end, highly unusual but completely cohesive. “Eight” delivers a musical journey that feels very personal. And it is.

"Eight" was inspired by Amsterdam, where most of the album was created, and where Gabriel was bursting with creativity. The title itself is significant, as he made the record with eight different analog vintage synths, and the piece was finished and mastered on 08.08.08. While this album is full of scientific audio sculptures, there's more than enough melody for music lovers – and enough technical wizardry for every geek to freak.
