We are developing an API (Application Programming Interface) for SourcedFrom. The main aim of the API is to facilitate plugins for blog and Content Management Systems.

As mentioned in previous posts we are developing a plugin for WordPress. The API will be used to make the plugin work. We will be making the WordPress plugin open source and hope it will be inspiration for developers on other CMS platforms to build similar plugins, or modules as they may be referred. These we hope would include: Drupal, Joomla, Mambo, Movable Type and others.

At this stage we are developing the API to be a REST web service; generating XML results.

I quite like the idea of developing a (free) plugin for WordPress so entries listed in SoucredFrom can be accessed from inside the WordPress dashboard.

I envisage it working similar to the way exiting posts are listed within the ‘Manage’ section of the dashboard. Users will be able to search for entries by text or tag (or your own entries), see the available entries (as posts), select and edit (if entry allows), assign categories and all the normal stuff then publish.
