Remodeling Industry Looking Up for 2013

Both an upswing in the housing market along with interest rates at a historical low, are showing strong optimism for an improved 2013 remodeling industry forecast.

The Leading Indicator of Remodeling Activity report recently released by the Remodeling Futures Program has indicated more than $130 billion in home improvement spending is a realistic gain for 2013, a substantial increase over 2012’s $115 billion.

Housing prices are increasing after remaining flat for many years, indicating consumer confidence is gaining. That coupled with financial institutions’ willingness to loan money once again for both new housing loans as well as home improvements, have put home remodelers in a very enviable position.

Many experts are so confident they are advising remodelers to dust over their marketing plans, line up their sub-contractors and brush up on the newest trends for 2013. Mark A. Newman, senior editor of Remodeling Magazine commented, “There’s likely to be more work out there so remodelers should be more aggressive in pursuing it.”
