First Home Depot on the Moon to Open April 2020

The Home Depot announced today it plans to boldly go where no retailer has gone before by opening the first home improvement store on the moon. Plans for the lunar store, presently dubbed Home Depot X, have been on the drawing board for several years. Company executives say they expect the first Home Depot on the moon to open on April 1, 2020 on the Sea of Tranquility, just a short lunar rover drive from the location of the Apollo 11 lunar landing.

“The Home Depot has always been about anticipating customer needs,” says newly named Vice President for Lunar Operations Vernon “Jules” Bradbury. “We see big possibilities on the moon in the coming century, and we want to be up and ready to help the new inhabitants of the moon save more and do more. Opening a Home Depot on the moon is pretty much a no brainer. And setting up shop near the historic site of the first Apollo lunar landing, well, we’re just over the moon about that.”

Home Depot is prepared to commit billions to their lunar expansion. Certified Nursery Consultants in the garden center at Home Depot store #1859 in Webster, Texas  are working on a proprietary line of revolutionary new home improvement products that can be grown in petri dishes.

NASA has been looking to The Home Depot for inspiration for quite some time, and this has allowed us to work on our own space program of sorts. DIY experts are working around the clock in an underground bunker beneath Home Depot headquarters in Atlanta are developing a Home Depot Project Guide for a do-it-yourself spacecraft that can shuttle families to the moon and back. We can’t reveal many of the details at this time, but we’re told preliminary plans for this weekend DIY project include such off the shelf items as water heaters, sheet metal, several 2x4s, copper tubing and a modified gas grill for propulsion. Home Depot #235 in Merrit Island, Florida is expected to be the first Home Depot store to offer launch facilities to customers.

Of course, it’s our store associates who provide the expert advice and know-how that our customers expect. There will be new challenges, though in completing DIY projects in low gravity, so through a private-public partnership with formed with NASA, The Home Depot will begin training “astro-ciates” for Home Depot X in 2019. They’ll be instructed in the technical issues of low gravity plumbing, lunar heating/air conditioning/oxygen generation, lunar lawn care, zero atmosphere grilling, air leak repair and more.

Astro-ciate applications will be accepted in person at Home Depot X beginning April 1, 2019.

• Everyone can have a good time skating at the Starlite Skating Center in Stockbridge.  Friday night is always family night from 6-11pm, and the facility also features an indoor playground for the little ones less than 10 years old.
• Spend the afternoon at Yule Forest 155 in Stockbridge.  While this farm is seasonally popular with its pumpkin patch in the fall and its Christmas tree farm in the winter, families can still have fun year-round with blueberry picking, hay rides, the petting zoo, the science center, the Talking Chicken show and the Pioneer Rabbit Village.
