After waiting some 35 minutes, listening to others speak on the benefits of the Buffalo-Lancaster Airport (BLA), ground safety measures, how the planes at BLA were under radar watch from the Buffalo-Niagara International Airport (BNIA) and confusing aircraft flight altitude limits, the residents got their opportunity to present their safety concerns � which is what the meeting was really supposed to be about.

After listening to Buffalo-Lancaster Airport owner/manager Tom Geles speak for twenty-five minutes on town jurisdiction in the matter, the airport being there first, the FAA finding no aircraft violations, the ground safety mechanisms in place, the benefits and services provided by the airport and how safety will be improved by runway expansion, Town Board members were given the opportunity to ask questions.

At Monday evening�s Lancaster Town Board meeting, Supervisor Robert Giza cautioned attendees speaking on Buffalo-Lancaster safety issues to keep their emotions in check. The 100 or so attendees did just that and a fruitful meeting took place, one where civility ruled while substantive information was shared and where a satisfactory outcome is possible.

I am not an attorney, nor am I familiar with the prior cases referred to in the recent NYS Supreme Court\'s decision concerning Buffalo Crushed Stone vs. Town of Cheektowaga. However, while reading through this transcript it seemed to me that the justices ruling in this case bent over backward to insure BCS\' position and claims, all to the undoing of the Town\'s zoning laws affecting the expansion of BCS\' operations.

At this coming Monday evening�s Lancaster Town Board meeting, the part of Goliath will be played by the Lancaster Town Board/FAA/Buffalo-Lancaster Airport (BLA) owner and supposedly 200 pilots. The residents will be played by Lancaster residents who either live within the Buffalo-Lancaster airport flight path or supporters who visit the area.

A representative from Attorney General Andrew Cuomo�s office will speak to members of the Greater Buffalo Chapter of the American Red Cross on the topic of Medicaid Fraud Awareness. The Medicaid Fraud Control Unit (�MFCU�), the largest unit within the Attorney General�s Criminal Division, is the centerpiece of New York�s effort to investigate, penalize, and prosecute individual and companies responsible for improper or fraudulent Medicaid billing schemes. In addition, the MFCU is the only law enforcement agency in the state specifically mandated to investigate and prosecute abuse and neglect of residents in nursing homes, hospitals, and other facilities that provide care to unrelated adults.
