Spectrum Interactive deploys Wi-Fi service to Virgin’s flagship lounges at Heathrow and Gatwick for fast, seamless guest connectivity

Hemel Hempstead, UK, 25th January 2012: Spectrum Interactive, the UK’s largest independent provider of Wi-Fi and related services, has today announced it has partnered with Virgin Atlantic to deliver guest Wi-Fi provision at the airline’s flagship Clubhouse lounges at Heathrow Terminal 3 and Gatwick South.

The Spectrum solution focused on improving the passenger user-experience, and providing local dedicated technical, engineering and account management support, along with full customisation to reflect the Virgin Atlantic experience its passengers expect.

Graham Lampen, IT service manager at Virgin Atlantic said: “The timescale for getting our new Wi-Fi system up and running was very challenging, but Spectrum was able to design and install the service with minimum disruption and with zero downtime.” He added: “The feedback on the Spectrum service from visitors, staff and management has been very positive.”

Hemel Hempstead, UK, 23rd January 2012: Following the recent Premier Inn Wi-Fi contract win, Spectrum Interactive, the UK’s largest independent provider of Wi-Fi and related services, has announced that its Wi-Fi network will also roll-out to Whitbread’s four restaurant brands - Beefeater, Table Table, Brewers Fayre and Taybarns.

This agreement represents 380 Whitbread-owned restaurants across the UK and will enable the brands to offer customers totally free Wi-Fi access.

The Spectrum solution includes data capture functionality that will help provide Beefeater, Table Table, Brewers Fayre and Taybarns with enhanced customer insight which can be used to support tailored marketing campaigns.

Long-term contract to see Spectrum provide guest Wi-Fi service to Whitbread’s 600-strong hotel chain across the UK.

Hemel Hempstead, UK, 18 January 2012: Spectrum Interactive, the UK’s largest independent provider of Wi-Fi and related services, has announced that it has been awarded the contract to supply guest Wi-Fi provision to all 600 Premier Inn hotels in the UK.

Spectrum is a preferred technology partner to Whitbread, having provided Wi-Fi services to approximately half of the Premier Inn hotel estate since 2006. This new contract will see Spectrum serve the entire Premier Inn estate with a bespoke, hybrid Wi-Fi solution which offers a combination of restricted free and unlimited chargeable access. The roll-out will complete by the end of January 2012. In addition, Spectrum will continue to install and operate Wi-Fi at all new Premier Inn sites across the UK as they open.

First pilot of free Wi-Fi to test consumer demand and browsing behaviour in the capital

LONDON, 1st November, 2011 – Nokia, a global leader in telecommunications, and Spectrum Interactive, the UK’s leading independent provider of Wi-Fi services, today announced the first large scale trial of free Wi-Fi access in the busiest streets across London. This is the first ever public Wi-Fi scheme in the UK that’s specifically aiming to make it easier for people on the move to access online services for free.

Internet access is initially available for a trial period at 26 street hotspots from November 1st until the end of 2011 and will test how consumers interact with the free Wi-Fi service. Following a successful trial, plans are in place for a large-scale rollout across London from early 2012.

The two-month trial is intended to assess both the demand for free Wi-Fi access and the browsing behaviour of consumers using the service across the capital. The findings will be used to determine the best locations for future hotspots and the necessary bandwidth to meet robust consumer demand.

Whitbread restaurant brand, Brewers Fayre, relies on Spectrum’s powerful and flexible solution for ‘Buffet Place’ offering

Hemel Hempstead, UK, 24 August 2011: Spectrum Interactive, the UK’s largest, independent provider of public Wi-Fi and related services, has announced the deployment of its digital signage solution within restaurant chain Brewers Fayre. Part of the Whitbread group – and with 129 locations across the UK – Brewers Fayre selected the Spectrum service in order to promote and support its Buffet Place concept offering ‘all-you-can-eat’ themed nights throughout the week.

Running over the Brewers Fayre infrastructure, the digital signage solution – which features flat-screen displays and media players – allows the brand to dynamically manage content and its scheduling. Supporting multiple formats including video, audio, HTML, static images and animation, the service enables Brewers Fayre to create eye-catching, tailored messages via intuitive ‘drag-and-drop’ functionality. In addition, the digital signage solution can be accessed remotely via the internet meaning that it can be updated and managed at head office level, as well as by local restaurant staff.

Following a successful trial in 2009 at Brewers Fayre High Wycombe, Spectrum is now rolling out the solution to further locations. When deployment completes in September 2011, Spectrum’s digital signage service will be operational in 77 Brewers Fayres in total, which accounts for two-thirds of the entire estate.

Renata Zurawiel, head of restaurants marketing at Whitbread explained: “We wanted a high-quality solution that would give us the ability to schedule targeted messages in order to maximise awareness and the take up of Buffet Place. Spectrum’s WiFi service will operate exclusively across the Airports’ public areas

Hemel Hempstead, UK 30th March 2011: Spectrum Interactive has announced that it is to provide public WiFi services at some of the biggest and busiest airline lounges across the UK, through a new contract with one of the world’s leading premium airlines, British Airways. The agreement will see Spectrum deploy and manage ‘free-to-user’ WiFi internet access at a number of British Airways lounges across the UK, including eight at Heathrow Airport.

The British Airways tender required the highest support & service levels, and a system developed with ease-of-use in mind. The service has been optimised for the latest smartphone and hand-held devices in order to provide the best possible user experience.

Quality Inn Plymouth looks to Spectrum for flexible, all-in-one guest internet provision

Hemel Hempstead, UK 9th March 2011: Spectrum Interactive has announced it has deployed a full, high-speed guest internet access solution to Quality Hotel Plymouth. The 3-year agreement sees Spectrum deliver and manage public area internet kiosks and a branded WiFi service throughout the 111-bedroomed, city-centre hotel.

Part of the Choice Hotels chain, Spectrum has delivered the hotel a hybrid WiFI solution in order to provide a part free, part chargeable guest service. Garth Powell, general manager at Quality Plymouth explains: “Flexibility was a key factor when selecting our internet provider. We wanted to offer all guests 30 minutes free WiFi per day for basic browsing and emailing needs. Plus, we required a chargeable service for guests with greater usage needs.” He added: “Having a service set up in this way means that all guests can be assured of the connectivity levels they require.”

In addition to flexibility, Quality Hotel Plymouth was also drawn to Spectrum due to its engineering bases and dedicated customer support. “We have everything we wanted under one agreement with Spectrum,” Garth concluded.

Spectrum gets fifth Scottish airport connected with complete internet solution including WiFi and internet kiosks

Hemel Hempstead, UK, 9^th February 2011: Spectrum Interactive, a specialist provider of communication, entertainment and internet access solutions, has announced the addition of Glasgow Prestwick Airport to its estate for key travel partners. The four year deal will see Spectrum design, deploy and support a full visitor internet access provision consisting of WiFi hotspots across public areas, and pay-as-you-go internet kiosks along with printing services.

“Enhancing the visitor experience was the key driver behind upgrading the Airport’s internet service with reliability and ease-of-use among our main priorities,” explained Arlane Fleming at Glasgow Prestwick Airport (GPA). “Alongside wireless connectivity, it’s also important to us that we provide internet PCs to aid those travelling without a laptop or other mobile device. The addition of public printing services has become an important requirement for the airport. Enabling printing from the internet desks, but also any online laptop or handheld is a fantastic new service for our passengers.”

With installation due to complete by the end of February, Glasgow Prestwick Airport joins other Scottish airports – Edinburgh, Glasgow, Inverness and Aberdeen – as Spectrum Interactive airport clients.

Latest contract win takes total number of UK airports served by Spectrum to 24

Hemel Hempstead, UK, 7th February 2011: Spectrum Interactive, the market leader in UK public internet access, has announced Inverness Airport (INV) as its latest contract win. Known as the “air gateway to the Highlands and Islands of Scotland”, Inverness has deployed Spectrum’s easy-to-use, function-rich internet kiosks and WiFi service in order to provide business and leisure travellers with fast and reliable internet access across the airport.

Fully managed and with dedicated customer and technical support, Spectrum’s internet services have been tailored to the needs of Inverness Airport, including a customised WiFi ‘welcome page’ and family-friendly web filtering. Providing an invaluable utility to travellers, Spectrum’s internet kiosks and WiFi are also providing a revenue stream for the airport’s operators, HIAL (Highland and Islands Airports Limited).
