And then all of the sudden, we get 3 in one week, and possibly 2 more on the way…

The first one was a GMC pickup Truck with Canopy for Men in Kilts

Then we had a Toyota Highlander car wrap from 1-800-GOT-JUNK

And lastly, the RCMP retired their recruitment van wrap

All of these vehicles have had wraps on them for 4 or more years (RCMP van was 5+ years!) and they came off clean. For the most part, the paint was preserved underneath. It was a lot of work to remove them (don’t try this at home), but the end result keep our clients happy.

The Speedpro Team will definitely be making their way down to the ’2012: A Fringe Odyssey’ which runs Sept.6-16. Aside from listening to local musicians, laughing your head off and appreciating the art of theater; The festival is a great chance to get out and enjoy the last week of summer!

We received a call from a rep at the Richmond Public Library looking for something that could add some appeal to their blank walls. Naturally, we thought what better idea than wall graphics?

There was an event at the library later that week, so their hopes were to have the wall decals printed and installed by the time the event took place. Later that day they came to meet us with a variety of ideas but one main purpose: to inspire!

We decided to go with a matte gray removable vinyl for the cut-vinyl text. We felt that black would have been too harsh seeing as a libraries environment is calm and quite. We chose to use removable vinyl because if they needed to remove the decals in the future, they would not have to worry about damaging the wall. Removable vinyl is a great way to decorate your surroundings without making it permanent! Even with a short period of time to produce, we were eager to see how their motivational words and images would impact people.

We’re pleased to announce the wall decals were a hit! The event coordinators were very pleased with the appealing wall graphics, perhaps even inspired.

MINI Canada’s participation in Red Bull’s Thre3Style Event shows us that you can do anything with a car, a paintbrush, and some vinyl. MINI Canada recently partnered with Red Bull to host Thre3Style, a contest that pitted some of the world’s best DJ’s against each other. How did they market a large-scale event such as this? Read our interview with Borja Brown of Fireworks Marketing Group to find out.

1) What was Thre3 Style about, and how did you choose to market this event?
“MINI Canada initially came to us because they were working with Red Bull on the Thre3Style contest. Thre3Style is an annual international DJ contest that has been going on for a few years now. MINI Canada wanted to increase their visibility in Thre3Style with an activation, and asked us what they could do in and around clubs or the DJ scene that could draw attention and create excitement. We brainstormed about the MINI brand, what they were about, and how the DJ contest fit into their vision.”

“We came up with the idea of using MINIs and asking street artists to paint them in a public place, more specifically, inside the TD Plaza. This way, we could build excitement around the process as well as the finished product. We had the MINIs covered in white vinyl to create a blank, three dimensional canvas for our artists. We worked together with Red Bull who also wanted to do a street activation to create buzz for the event. Red Bull had traditional, printed vehicle graphics on their MINIs and were on the street with their DJ’s, spinning and entertaining the crowds.”

2) How did you use the vehicle wraps as a marketing tool to their full effect? One of our clients uses his in what he calls “parketing”, which is to park his wrap in a high-traffic, targeted area.
“I know that our client used the cars to take out-of-town Thre3Style guests to Whistler. They also used them to transport the VIPs to and from each of the club events that night. These hard to miss vehicles got a lot of exposure in these targeted areas that way. They also displayed the artist-painted cars in the Yaletown and Richmond showrooms as well.”

3) Coming from your company’s creative nature and familiarity with out-of-the-box projects, how versatile a medium do you think vinyl is?
“What we discovered with this project was how well vinyl works. We all knew this project was going to be a bit of a flyer, but in the end we were really pleased with the results. The artists used something they normally wouldn’t have access to as a canvas. The cars were in great shape after we stripped them of the vinyl, and I think you could use this medium to create a canvas for just about anything. The final name for the project was, “Creative Use of Space”. It matches a tagline for the interior of their cars, and they enjoyed pulling that out of the standard marketing application. It wasn’t just what you can do with the inside of the car but the outside as well.”

4) How do you think these vehicles contributed to what the campaign was aiming to do?
“The campaign wanted to show that MINI and Red Bull as edgy brands that can have some fun. The engagement of the people with the cars out in the plaza and the looks on people’s faces spoke to that. The branded vehicles pulling up at the Commodore Ballroom with the DJ’s made a very powerful statement.”

5) Would you use vehicle graphics again in future campaigns, even for more permanent applications?
“Definitely. I think vehicle graphics are great promotional tools as they reinforce the look, feel, and energy of a brand. Our clientele and the things we do are very varied, but if we were doing an outdoor piece in a high traffic area, we would definitely opt for vehicle graphics”.

6) Why did you choose to work with Speedpro?
“Pricing was excellent, and your team was open to the fact that we weren’t doing a traditional vinyl wrap. We wanted to work with somebody who was comfortable with unusual, very custom projects. One of the companies we were considering just wasn’t asking the right questions, whereas when we told you about our project, you came back with a lot of really good questions. We went, “Ahh, these guys know what they’re talking about”. As aside, you certainly were very accommodating and efficient when it came to the tight timeframe. It was a combination of that and pricing.”

Sales and Marketing Assistant

Speedpro Imaging is a professional graphics and imaging company that produces custom, large format advertising and promotional materials. Our goal is to help businesses look great and effectively attract customers. We create high resolution, photo realistic graphics for displays, promotions, signage, events and vehicles.

The Sales/Marketing Assistant’s main focus is to assist in the sales process by providing consultations and estimations for new and existing customers. Other duties include the coordination and interaction of sales with the production team to create timelines, achieve daily production goals, and to deal effectively with phone and counter sales.

This ideal candidate should be a high energy, people-oriented person. Sales experience is an asset, but not necessary. Training will be provided for the successful candidate.

Required qualifications:

• Roll up your sleeves attitude — nothing too small or too large; willing to learn
• Experience in customer service
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• An outgoing, enthusiastic personality that’s comfortable talking and dealing with new people
• Ability to multi-task, make decisions independently, creatively solve problems and deal with changes and interruptions
• Ability to take direction and be self motivated
• Highly organized

Skills that would be an asset:

• Some prior business-to-business sales and marketing experience
• Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Photoshop
• A background in graphic design
