We can truly say we’ve never been so proud to be Canadian!  We had so much fun helping Vancouver paint the city red and white – transforming vehicles into large Canadian flags, printing large hanging banners for Aberdeen Mall to support the Canadian Speed Skating Team and not to mention producing the sea of red maple leafs that went on windows all across Vancouver!  A great big thanks to all the athletes, volunteers and VANOC employees who made this an unforgettable 2 weeks for all of us!

WAY TO GO CANADA!!!!

Upon seeing some photographic images reproduced by Speedpro onto a canvas frame, I decided that this was an ideal way to capture some family pictures that my wife and I had received as a present from our progeny.  We were delighted with the result.  The images, the colour and the unusual format (not to mention the price) are outstanding.  Our problem now is simply a shortage of wall space!

I put them on the wall with 3M Interlocking Fasteners with pull tabs so they can be removed without taking paint with it.  No holes in the wall either!  This means we can rearrange them, add more to the collage or replace canvases whenever we want.  For all my hard work and the wonderful compliments I’m getting, I give myself a great big pat on the back!

Forget blogging.  Forget Facebook, Twitter or website guestbooks. The Vancouver Fringe Festival has re-invented how we express our opinions.

From the minds of Fringe Festival Executive Director David Jordan and his team came a new, innovative vision for audiences to engage with festival activities and leave feedback immediately after viewing a show.

Helping to make this vision a reality was Speedpro Imaging; official sponsor of the festival, wrapping the main Fringe Festival office building on Granville Island completely in vinyl.

This unparalleled presentation combines existing architecture used during the Festival with public opinion, giving audiences a chance to immediately share their thoughts about the show by writing directly on the office walls as well as festival enthusiasts a look at what is most popular.

For David Jordan and his team, inspiration for the ‘Buzz Board’, as it was named, came from a desire to incorporate audience participation.

“We wanted to engage the audiences and get them participating, as a way to faciliate buzz in the festival. We wanted to do something that was interactive,” explained David Jordan during a recent interview when asked about the ‘Buzz Board’.

The Fringe Festival wraps up on September 20th; but Pick of the Fringe continues afterwards, from September 24th to 27th, giving audiences yet another exclusive opportunity to share their thoughts on the Buzz Board.

Having said that, I’m proud to say that this weekend I finally got around to installing shower door graphics in our guest bathroom! — TA DAA!!

Still feeling the rush of such a fantastic accomplishment, I’ve decided to challenge myself to continue jazzing up the apartment!

Personal Goal:  To have 1 item on list of decor essentials completed each month until list has been exhausted.

What’s next?: Artist canvas print(s) to put on dining area wall.  Step 1: Go through honeymoon photos *groans*

Once again, EPIC the Sustainable Living Expo hit Vancouver with a big bang at the new and gorgeous Convention Centre! This year, there was definitely a bit of something for everyone: I got to shop for jewellery, clothes and all-natural health and beauty products, the husband got to test drive a new Lexus hybrid and I think we can all agree we enjoyed the yummy food samples and sips from the wine bar!!

While we were there, I got to visit our friends over at the Smell This! Aromatherapy booth. You didn’t need a map to find them, all you had to do was follow your nose! …okay I’m exaggerating, but seriously, they smell GOOD! This year we helped bring more attention to their booth with custom printed T-shirts in addition to the 10’ banner backdrop, check it out!

This wrap came from back east to promote Red Rain Energy Drinks. It was done on very short notice, but turned out really well.  Everyone was really pleased with it.  Check out the images.

Men in Kilts just got us to wrap another one of their fleet trucks for them.  This time it was a GMC Sierra with a bolder design.  I think Brent and Nic did a great job making the graphics more noticeable and Rob did an amazing job making the design look right (as always).  It looks like a simple design, but consider the challenge in perfectly lining up all the tartan lines on a 3D object like a truck… not a simple task.

Well, it’s playoff season again, and this time I finally got around to pimping my ride in true Canuck spirit!  Almost immediately I couldn’t believe the amount of attention I got driving around.  Honking, cheering and guys just rolling down their windows to “chit-the-Canucks-chat” while waiting at a red light.  Someone even chatted me up about the Canucks and then tried to pick up my girlfriend.

Speaking of my girlfriend, she somehow managed to convince me to put a Flames logo on her side of the car.  Fortunately, no keying or defacing of it… yet.

[Update] Now that the Flames are eliminated, we agreed to remove their logo from my car.  Finally no more comments from passer-by’s about it ruining a perfectly great looking car.
