Quick, grab your eyeballs and get ready for the latest installment of Currently Hurling, our semi-regular look at what games we're playing here at Splash Damage. If you like games and water-based metaphors, you'll be happy to know that it's now high tide for new releases, and Borderlands, Forza Motorsport 3, Torchlight, GTA4: The Ballad of Gay Tony are more than happy to prove the point. Dragon Age, Modern Warfare 2, Assassin's Creed 2, Left 4 Dead 2 and New Super Mario Bros Wii will all be here before month's end, so there's very little prospective rest for thumbs everywhere.

Brink at Eurogamer Expo - A Round-up

Brink made its UK debut at last week's Eurogamer Expo in Leeds and London, where Game Director Paul Wedgwood presented the game to hundreds of gamers. Paul also shared some general information on Splash Damage and capped it all off with audience Q&As. You can find great write-ups of everything at the sites below:

Forum member Zhou Yu was also able to see the presentation in Leeds and put together a detailed post with his impressions.

Additionally, there's a video of Paul's presentation over in Eurogamer's expansive video vault, though it should be noted that there is no actual gameplay footage visible. Lastly, if you missed it, Paul also confirmed that the PC version of Brink will indeed offer dedicated servers.

Fallout 3 Wins Big at Golden Joysticks 2009

Bethesda's Fallout 3 was the big winner at the Golden Joystick awards last week, taking home the coveted Ultimate Game of the Year honors. Bethesda's latest also picked up Best PC Game and Best Soundtrack, making it one of the most highly decorated titles of the night. Competition was especially fierce this year, with so many great titles released across all platforms. We here at Splash Damage would like to throw a big, nay, humongous congratulations in the general direction of Bethesda Game Studios as well as all the other winners and nominees.

First German Brink Fan Site Launches

The newest Brink fan site to set sail for the internet is the German language BrinkGamers.com. The site's run by Enemy Territory: QUAKE Wars veterans UK Visuals and wolle of PlanetQuakeWars.net fame, and promises to be the premier destination for Brink news and information for our German friends. If you haven't yet, be sure to watch their epic 45-minute video interview with Brink's Creative Director Richard Ham and Lead Writer Ed Stern recorded back at gamescom and don't forget to follow them on Twitter if delicious micro-blogging is your thing. Huge Brink Features in Latest EDGE and VietGame

The latest issues of British gaming magazine EDGE as well as Vietnam's VietGame are packed with Brink goodies. EDGE devotes no less than eight pages to the game, sprinkled with quotes from Game Director Paul Wedgwood. It's all topped off with an interview with Splash Damage's Lead Writer Ed 'BongoBoy' Stern.

On the other side of the globe, Brink is on the cover of Vietnamese gaming publication VietGame. Inside you'll find six pages full of Brink along with generous helpings of information from Creative Director Richard 'Rahdo' Ham.

Things You Were Too Afraid to Ask: Pierre 'trega' Tregaro

Pulling no punches, metaphorically or otherwise, in our latest staff interview is Pierre 'trega' Tregaro. Pierre is a Programmer of the gameplay / physics variety here at Splash Damage, which means he makes things work and bounce around, often simultaneously. Prior to joining us, Pierre was the project lead on PuppIT, a very cool digital puppet theatre controlled entirely by way of a multi-touch interface. If you have trouble picturing this, worry not - a link to a video of PuppIt in action is hidden somewhere amongst Pierre's answers.

Make way for the latest installment of Currently Hurling, our semi-regular look at what games we're playing here at Splash Damage. October's always a great time for new games and this one so far hasn't disappointed in the slightest. The hilarious Brütal Legend and the superb Uncharted 2: Among Thieves just finished falling into our collective laps and with Forza Motorsport 3 and Borderlands, the next batch of concentrated fun is already waiting. More hours in the day or, failing that, five day weekends are clearly required.

Brink Previews From Around The World

Just in time for the weekend, here's a round-up of Brink previews from the UK and elsewhere in Europe. PC Zone's Steve Hogarty has written up a great four-pager on the game that can be found in the current issue, drizzled throughout with quotes from Game Director Paul "Locki" Wedgwood and Senior Game Designer Ed "BongoBoy" Stern. Better yet (and most convenient for those without access to UK newsstands), the entire thing can now be found online over at GamesRadar.

Brink to be Shown at Eurogamer Expo in Leeds and London

Marking its public debut here in the UK, Brink will be shown at the Eurogamer Expo in both Leeds and London. Splash Damage CEO and Game Director Paul 'Locki' Wedgwood will present the game at 13:30pm at The Royal Armouries in Leeds on October 27th and 28th and in London at Old Billingsgate on October 30th and 31st. Seating in both theatres is limited and on a first-come, first-serve basis. For tickets and all sorts of other information, please visit the Eurogamer Expo website. We hope to see you there!

Things You Were Too Afraid To Ask: Boris 'Zobbo' Lowinger

The latest person of interest in our relentlessly inquisitive series of staff interviews is Boris 'Zobbo' Lowinger. As one of our animators, Boris makes all manner of things move around in SMART ways und occasionally dance. Before coming to Splash Damage, Boris worked on games like MotoGP, Republic: The Revolution, the popular quiz franchise Buzz!, as well as the short film "This Way Up", which was nominated for an Academy Award.
