The Screen Actor’s Guild have come and gone, and we couldn’t care less about who won what award. Here, the only thing we noticed at the SAG Awards was what people were wearing and how well they pulled it off. As you can expect, I’ve been looking obsessively over the pictures before passing verdict, and here’s mine.

Those who pulled it off…

Emily Blunt – She sure did Oscar dela Renta proud the way she carried this piece of bright green dress. It’s not the craziest outfit out there, but on Emily Blunt it is perfect and sure did turn a lot of heads.

Kelly Osbourne – This girl cleans up really well. No stranger to fashion boo boos, this year at the SAG Awards she proves that she can make the seemingly simplest white outfit look stunning.

Stacey Keibler – There’s no doubt that she looked absolutely gorgeous in her black ensemble. Not only was her dress and hair perfect, but she also had the perfect accessory to boot – George Clooney.

Those who should have pulled off their clothes and changed before heading out…

Amber Riley – I love your voice. I love your confidence. I love your outfit in last year’s SAG, but this year is a step back for you. What were you thinking with that bow?! I know some people loved the look, and it would have worked too if not for the bow.

Rose Byrne – At least you couldn’t accuse her of being boring. Still, not all risks are worth taking and this sure was one that’ll be haunting her in fashion history.

Whoever said that rugged had to be ugly? Well the Cosmograph Daytona sure proves that wrong. This watch is not only good looking but has all the bells and whistles any outdoorsy person would want. The model shown about features a black leather strap and an Everose gold case, but the watch also comes in steel, white gold, and yellow gold, with the option of going for an oyster strap.

New Year’s resolutions be damned. What I’m interested in right now is getting all ready for Spring 2012.

So is your wardrobe ready for the upcoming spring? Do you know which clothes to toss out and which ones to keep? If you’re still figure out how to do some spring cleaning in your closet even before spring itself arrives, here are some suggestions on some items you might want to keep:

• Keep all light clothing that are predominantly or have more than a hint of the top colors for Spring 2012. WeConnectFashion says that these colors are poppy, geranium, orangeade, canary, grass, tiffany blue, hyacinth, ink, honey, and sandstone. So unless your wardrobe is incredibly monochromatic, you’ll probably be able to keep a lot of key pieces that you can mix and match with newer items.

• Aside from items that are of the above color, you should also Fashionising advices that you keep your wide leg pants, tuxedo jackets, high slit dress, leather harness,and clothes with the 60′s Peter Pan collar. Just make sure that when you do take them out for spring, you pair them up with more spring-friendly items. This means trading your leather boots for sandals, lighter garments (i.e. cotton), and lighter colors (including the top colors for spring 2012).
• Last but not least, don’t toss out everything else just because they won’t do for spring. Remember, what won’t do for spring might be great for next year’s fall/winter fashion. Just store them and take them out for the next season. If you do find that most of the things you put in storage just doesn’t cut it next year, then you can always give them away then.

Previous limitations in the market forced consumers to make hard decisions between fashionable and socially-responsible wardrobes. In most cases, you couldn’t have both. But as the environmental movement has grown, so has the cottage market for eco-fashions. Now, a number of highly talented designers and retailers are operating reputable operations that are keen on giving back to the world community and taking the industry to the next level.

Eco-friendly clothing can be defined in different ways. But no matter the company’s approach, the result is always that the sale of eco-friendly fashions in some way functions as a charitable act helping people or the environment.

In many cases, the designation is given because fabrics used to make garments are derived from sustainable sources and are manufactured using processes that do not include toxic chemicals and other harmful substances. This type of direct action helps ensure the environment is protected from practices that can cause long-term harm.

Other eco-friendly offerings are purchased for resale from indigenous producers in underdeveloped countries. Instead of taking advantage, retailers buy garments at fair prices and may also contribute some proceeds to projects that help the community. This indirect action works to improve the lives of people in underdeveloped areas to give them the financial means to foster equality, education and environmental awareness.

EthicalOcean eco fashions are a great example of how a company can successfully marry consumer responsibility and style. Every product sold by Ethical Ocean must meet at least one of these criteria: good for people; good for animals; or good for the environment. Every item sold on the Ethical Ocean website includes a story that informs consumers on the particular attributes of that make the selection eco-friendly.

That’s pretty deep. Not only is the customer assured their purchase will do good, they are shown exactly how that is happening already. It’s a mighty fine sensation to know your purchase will make you feel good inside and out.

Earlier this month, Sky+ decided to celebrate their 10^th year anniversary by offering a really unique, and very stylish, collection of limited-edition Sky+ HD 1TB boxes. The collection consists of 10 boxes, all beautifully designed by big-name artists and fashion designers including British luxury lingerie retailer, Agent Provocateur, and fashion illustrator and artist, Julie Verhoeven.

Menswear. You don’t have to be a man to explore this hot fashion trend. Try blazers, trousers, button-up fitted shirts, suit-jackets, pin stripes, motorcycle jackets, and mannish accessories like boots and hats. The idea is to look androgynous (like, either/or gender), so try mixing and matching these menswear pieces for a winter power-look. You don’t have to spend a ton of cash on this type of clothing, either. Raid your man’s closet (or your dad’s) and you’ll find what you need.

The 1940s. If you want to see this trend in action, check out the hit television series, “Mad Men.” Think mid-calf skirts, flounced high-neck tops, and understated sexy. Try some natural waves in your hair and muted red lipstick to top off the look. You can find all of these trends in your local department store – or even in Goodwill – for very low prices.

Dance. We mentioned the 20′s in our article about upcoming winter trends, so of course I’m going to mention again that those 1920s-style flapper dresses, as well as ballet ensembles, have been very big on the runway this season. The great thing about these dance-inspired looks is that they are super-easy, and each in a different way: a flapper-style shift dress is just one simple piece that can be given multiple looks with a change of accessories, while the ballet look is composed of separates – wispy skirts, leotards, and wrap shirts – that can be combined with different pieces to create different looks.

Faux Real. This is a new term, coined just this season, that looks exactly as the name implies: real materials are made to appear faux, and faux materials are made to imitate real. For example, imagine a fur coat in a bright shade of purple, or fabric texturized to look like leather.

360 degrees. The tip here is to pay close attention to your look from every angle; it should be interesting from all 360 degrees. Think along the lines of a low-neck shirt that also plunges in the back, or a pair of high-heeled shoes with gem-encrusted heels.

It’s not hard to stay on top of this coming winter season’s hottest trends. You might already have many items in your closet that would work for several of these looks (that is, except for the bright purple fur coat). Already on a tight budget? Off season sales are sales that take place either right before or right after an item is officially in season (current), and you can find really great deals by purchasing your accessories when they are out of season. Ask your favorite department stores when they will be having their off season sales for the brand name accessories you want, and don’t worry – no one has to know when you bought them.

Online auction sites. Of course, eBay is a standard go-to any time you want to find anything for a discounted price. But did you know that there are other auction websites where you can look for brand name bargains? Try shopgoodwill.com (yes – Goodwill has an auction site with everything from Dooney and Bourke purses to fur coats), bidz.com, and propertyroom.com.

Now that you know where to go to find brand name accessories for less, you don’t ever have to suffer again – and you won’t have to go looking a payday advance online to pay for them either. Just remember that shopping discount means you won’t have as much of a selection and it can be hit or miss, so you will have to make it a point to check these resources regularly for all the best, most discounted finds.
