Tina Fey is Liz Lemon on TV and "a pretty cool cucumber" in real life.
That's how her Date Night costar Steve Carell described the Emmy-winning actress and writer, who was presented with the Mark Twain Prize for American Humor tonight in Washington, D.C.
PBS will air the ceremony on Sunday, so it's too bad the prize committee couldn't get anyone else to show up to honor Fey.

Haha, totally just kidding! Funny, right?

The Kennedy Center was brimming with stars, including Fey's former Saturday Night Live compadres and her fellow 30 Rockers.
"I was the first male cast member who tried to force an unwanted kiss on the first female head writer," announced Tracy Morgan.
"Tina. Well, that's a funny name for a man," Alec Baldwin, sporting a Mark Twain mustache, said in a southern drawl. Women don't usually win his namesake prize, he said, because "their brains aren't shaped right."
"She is a very funny person, but she's surprisingly down-to-earth as well," Carell said of Fey, who's the 13th person to receive the Twain Prize and only the third woman, besides Lily Tomlin and Whoopi Goldberg.

At 40, Fey is also the youngest person to ever win.
"Isn't it refreshing to find a comedian who is both really good and funny looking?" Steve Martin wondered aloud.
"You can't learn talent, but you can learn worth ethic," said Seth Meyers, who took over the head writer position at SNL after Fey left. "She's the hardest worker. She's an assassin."
Added SNLer Fred Armisen: "She makes fun of people really well—under her breath. It's so funny, so sharp."
Also on the guest list Tuesday were Jon Hamm, Amy Poehler, Jimmy Fallon, Jane Krakowski, Jennifer Hudson and Betty White.
"Too bad she's not good-looking," White, obviously already campaigning for next year's prize, quipped in May when Fey was announced as the 2010 honoree.

Los Angeles, California (CNN) -- Michael Jackson's son Prince wants to produce and direct movies, while daughter Paris hopes to be an actress when she grows up, the late pop star's children told Oprah Winfrey in an interview aired Monday.

Grandmother Katherine Jackson invited Winfrey's cameras into their Encino, California, home last month to talk about her son's controversial life and his sudden death last year.

"Sometimes in the day, I can hear his laughter in my mind," Katherine Jackson told Winfrey.

The last segment of the hour-long show featured the first time Prince, Paris and Blanket -- Michael's three children -- have been interviewed on camera.

"Tell her what you'd like to do when you grow up," Katherine Jackson said to Prince, 13.

"Produce movies and direct," he said.

Paris, 12, then spoke up.

"I'd like to be an actress when I'm older," she said. Paris assured Winfrey acting was a serious passion.

"I sometimes do improvs," she said. "I used to do it with my dad."

Blanket, 8, said little in the interview, beyond suggesting that his oldest brother was given more freedom when they lived with their father.

"He could get away with anything," Blanket said.

When family patriarch Joe Jackson joined his wife for a part of the interview, Winfrey asked about his infamously stern discipline practices with his nine children.

"I never beated Michael, like the media is trying to say," Joe Jackson said. Instead of beating, he would use a strap on them, he said.

His wife then spoke up. "You might as well admit it, that's the way black people raised their children," she said. "He used a strap. Yes, he did use a strap."

Winfrey asked Joe Jackson if he regretted using a strap on his children.

"No, I don't," he said. "It kept them out of jail."

Katherine Jackson spoke candidly about her belief that her son was addicted to plastic surgery.

"He was so unhappy," she said. "He thought he was so ugly."

It started with his first of several surgeries on his nose, she said.

"One day he just decided, he got up and said 'I'm going to get my nose done. It's too big,'" she said.

She said her son's nose eventually became "too small, like a toothpick."

She said his plastic surgeon didn't listen to her when she asked him to fake a procedure instead of actually operating.

Everyone's a fan of 16-year-old Dakota Fanning -- including her classmates at Campbell Hall in North Hollywood, California. The veteran actress/high school senior was named to her private school's homecoming court for the second year in a row!

In 2009, Dakota was awarded the title of "princess" while proudly wearing her cheerleading uniform and supporting her team, the Vikings, at the homecoming game, but during this year's half-time ceremony on Saturday night, the "Twilight" star ditched her school colors in favor of a funkier ensemble. The teen queen (literally) rocked black tights, boots, and a sparkly frock while accepting a bouquet of red roses, a sash with her title, and the coveted crown.

Dakota explained her decision to go to school -- at least when she's not on a set -- on "Today" last June. "I think it was really important to have the high school experience," she said. "I think that I want [the college] experience as well. I just think everyone always looks back on that time in their life. Who was homecoming princess and [did] the cheerleading ... and all the things that go along with high school? And I wanted to have that. I'm really lucky that I found a school that allows me to do both."

Hmmm ... perhaps she should call Emma Watson for some advice on making the most of her upcoming college years?

LeAnn Rimes released a new single on Monday, called “Crazy Women,” that will appear on her upcoming album, according to a statement on her website.
The album "Lady and Gentlemen" is due out in 2011.

“This album was born out of when I first fell in love with country music and I realized that almost all of my favorite songs were sung by men,” Rimes said in a statement. “I am honored to take a step back in time and sing these songs from a woman’s perspective and hopefully help reintroduce them to a new audience.”

Rimes’ new album will also include a remake of her song “Blue.”

Regarding “Crazy Women,” the two-time Grammy Award-winner said it is “a fun song to sing along and laugh with.”

Two laptops stolen from Central London home

While actress Keira Knightley (left) attended the Rome film festival in support of her drama “Last Night” and then headed off for a vacation, thieves ransacked the Central London home the 25-year-old star shares with her brother.

According to London’s “The Sun,” a police source said that the thieves entered a faulty communal door and then forced their way into the home through an internal door. Swiped from the home were two laptop computers.

“Keira is mortified to think anyone has been rummaging around her personal stuff,” a police source said. “She feels violated and doesn’t know if she wants to return to the flat.”

Burglars also robbed other homes in the Hyde Park neighborhood of London, which led police to believe that Knightley was not being targeted by a celebrity stalker.

Knightley can currently be seen in the period drama "Never Let Me Go" with Carey Mulligan.

Courteney Cox on Separation from David Arquette: "This Is Not Like We're Getting Divorced"

Courteney Cox says she and David Arquette are not necessarily getting a divorce.

"I don't know what will happen, but this is not like we're getting divorced. This is a separation and I think that takes a lot of courage," Cox told TV Week. "That's for sure the biggest thing I've ever done. Whatever is supposed to happen will be the best thing for us."

The two, who have a 6-year-old daughter, Coco, announced their separation last month after 11 years of marriage. Arquette, 39, recently told Howard Stern that the pair separated because they were not having sex, but Cox downplayed his comments, calling him a "kook."

"Sometimes you just realize 'Wow, we actually have grown apart,'" Cox said. "[David]'s a kook. It's not shocking and Howard Stern — he loves him and I'm a fan of Howard Stern. I don't know that I would call him right now, but ... David is an entertainer and I'm sure the people who listen to the radio are entertained by his stories."

Cox, 46, added that Friends pal Jennifer Aniston has been extremely helpful during this time. "It's funny, a lot of really close friends are kind of going through this right now or like Jennifer [who] has gone through it," she said. "I don't know what's going on in the planets or what, but things are being shaken up and I don't know what's going to happen, but, yeah, Jennifer has been amazing for sure."
As far as dating other people, Cox said she's in no rush.

"I am not doing anything. No dating," she said. "I hate to go out, so, I don't know how that would work. I'm a homebody."

Will Conviction Cost Howard K. Stern Control of Anna Nicole Estate?

Just because he's now a convict doesn't mean Howard K. Stern has to give up his day job.

Despite being found guilty yesterday of conspiring to use fake names and false pretenses to score prescription meds for Anna Nicole Smith, Stern will not have to give up control of her estate.

According to Stern's probate attorney, here's why...

"Mr. Stern remains qualified to serve as executor," attorney Bruce Ross insists to E! News.

"Moreover, it is very premature to speculate about Howard's executorship in that motions for new trial will no doubt be filed, and because the trial judge has the discretion to reduce the two relatively minor felony convictions to misdemeanors," Ross continued, noting that Stern was acquitted of seven more serious counts.

Smith's former psychiatrist, Khristine Eroshevich, was also convicted on four charges: two conspiracy counts and two false prescription counts.

Stern and Eroshevich both face a maximum of three years in state prison, but would likely get off with far lesser sentences when the judge hands down their punshiment on Jan. 6.

Another doctor, Sandeep Kapoor, was acquitted of all charges.

Smith died of an overdose of prescription drugs in 2007, but none of the three was charged with her death.

Stern has overseen her assets, all of which go to the model's infant daughter Dannielynn, who lives with her father, Larry Birkhead. Still undecided is whether the estate is due a share of the $1.6 billion fortune her late oil tycoon husband, J. Howard Marshall II.

The case has bounced around the courts for years, with the Supreme Court announcing last month that it has once again agreed to hear the case.

"The value of the estate depends upon a variety of factors, including the outcome of the proceedings now scheduled to go before the U.S. Supreme Court," says Ross.

While Stern still has his gig, it's not as plum as people would believe. Says another Stern attorney, Vivian Thoreen, "Howard has waived all compensation."

The Walking Dead: A Zombie Show with More Heart Than Brains

If you've seen any zombie film, the flesh-craving creatures of AMC's The Walking Dead aren't exactly novel.

That's not to say that makeup and special effects wizard Gregory Nicotero hasn't seriously outdone himself. Or that being caught on a city block surrounded by hundreds of soulless, hungry ghouls isn't terrifying. It's just that this story is about more than delivering a few scares.

"The most compelling part of the series is how emotionally involved you become in these characters' lives," executive producer Gale Anne Hurd (Terminator, Aliens) tells TVGuide.com. "Even though I've read all the scripts and was there when it was shot, I still find myself becoming surprisingly emotional in almost every episode over something the characters are having to endure. To me, that is unexpected and remarkable."

That idea was paramount for Hurd's collaborator, writer-producer-director Frank Darabont, who tried for years to get an adaptation Robert Kirman's beloved series of comic books off the ground. It was Darabont's gift for emotional, character-driven storytelling that appealed to Kirkman.

"I had one guy pitch me super-zombies," Kirkman, who is an executive producer on the show and wrote one of the six Season 1 episodes, says with a laugh. "He thought it would be really cool if they could throw cars and stuff, and I was like, 'What are you talking about?' When Frank came along, it was a very quick, very simple conversation. I wanted something that has the emotion of The Shawshank Redemption and was a serious character study but also had zombies."

That's all front and center in Darabont's 90-minute pilot. After being shot and slipping into a coma, Deputy Sherriff Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) wakes up in a deserted hospital in the aftermath of a zombie apocalypse. He soon finds another survivor (Lennie James) and his son, who fill in the gaps and send Rick toward Atlanta, where he hopes to find his own wife, Lori (Sarah Wayne Callies), and son, Carl (Chandler Riggs) at a survivor's camp led by Rick's partner and best friend, Shane (John Bernthal).

But along the way, Rick meets a zombie who has lost the lower half of her body. Rick is rightly terrified at first, but before the episode is over, he looks at the zombie with compassion. "Leave it to Frank to find a way to find a redemptive, compassionate human spirit in the midst of a story about an undead apocalypse," Callies says.

But if you're looking for action and gore, there's plenty of that to go around. And like many of George A. Romero's classic zombie films, the horror works as an analogy to today's social climate. "Right now the world is a frightening place," Hurd says. "People are concerned about the global financial collapse. Every year, there's a hurricane like Katrina or an earthquake in Haiti or even the H1N1 flu epidemic. I think we really feel like we're a civilization on the brink. Through this series we can explore the notion of, if everything comes crumbling down, how are we going to survive? What are the new rules going to be?"

So how does Rick Grimes fit into a TV landscape that caters to antiheroes? "There's a great quote, 'A hero is a man that does what he can,'" Lincoln says. "If that's the case, then Rick certainly is a hero. He's a guy that keeps getting pushed into situations and somehow keeps coming up with the goods."

But Rick's decisions may not always turn out to be so noble, making him and his fellow survivors a perfect fit for a network that also features morally ambiguous characters like Mad Men's Don Draper and Breaking Bad's Walter White.

"When he starts doing bad things for a good cause, you're so fully invested in what he's doing, that it's still very heroic," Kirkman says. "He is able to push those limits so that he is able to go the extra mile to sacrifice his humanity to save the people around him. It really becomes a case of him really giving himself over to this world and doing whatever it takes to keep everyone around him safe. And while it does seem like he's doing the wrong thing, I think there's nothing more heroic than that sacrifice."

But the fight for survival perhaps poses a bigger question: Is a civilization devoid of basic humanity worth saving? Might we become just as soulless as the zombies?

"There are moments when we are behaving much more like animals than people," Callies says. "The changes that have been wrought in these people's bones and marrow and blood are so huge, they don't recognize it. I don't think they recognize themselves."

The Walking Dead premieres Sunday at 10/9c on AMC.

VIDEO: Zach Galifianakis Lights Up a Joint on Real Time with Bill Maher

Zach Galifianakis will apparently go to great lengths to prove a point.

In a heated discussion on Real Time with Bill Maher about California Proposition 19, which would legalize marijuana if passed, the 41-year-old Hangover star lit a joint on air.

"I have to agree it's a tricky thing politically to jump on that bandwagon because I think that maybe people see it as taboo still," Galifianakis said about the substance before lighting up in front of Maher as well as three other guests. He then passed the joint to Fox News commentator Margaret Hoover, who confirmed that it was the real thing.

After appearing to inhale some of the smoke, Galifianakis interrupted the conversation, shouting, "Oh my God, look at those dragons!" to further prove his point about some common misconceptions about the substance.

Modern Family Pisses Off Peru—Yup, the Entire Nation

Sofia Vergara's hot and spicy Modern Family character Gloria always speaks her mind, but this time she's gotten an entire nation in a tizzy.

Peruvian websites lit up with commenters defending their culture after a recent episode featured Vergara's Colombian character dissing the country while in an argument with her older husband Jay, played by Ed O'Neill.

"Now, maybe in Colombia..." Jay says, in typical fashion during their fights.

"Ah, here we go," Gloria says. "Because, in Colombia, we trip over goats and we kill people in the street. Do you know how offensive that is? Like we're Peruvians!"

Now the head of Peru's People's Defender's Office is demanding an explanation and wants to talk to the U.S. ambassador about the episode.

So how is Sofia responding to the situation?
"Get a life!!!!!!" she tweeted in Spanish in response to one critic who twittered negatively about the show. (It's not the first time Vergara's gotten hot-tempered or spoken her mind.)

Milagros Lizarraga, founder of Peru USA Southern California, says it was "no coincidence" and that Vergara had the power to control the script and not offend the nation.

"It's incredible that in a country where everything is politically correct, ABC would have a line of this sort," said Lizarraga. "Many Peruvians think this is no coincidence, that she knew what she was saying, because an actress has the power to say, 'No, I can't say this because it would hurt my image.' Unless she agrees with what she said."

In Peru, Beatriz Merino, head of the People's Defender's Office, said she will seek an explanation form the U.S. ambassador about the wording. "No country should have to be offended," Merino told broadcaster Radioprogramas.

ABC has not yet commented on the brouhaha.

Rumer Willis Says She's "Just Friends" With Glee Guy

Rumer Willis is on rumor patrol.

After a pic popped up of her and Glee newbie Chord Overstreet holding hands at a birthday bash, the two were quickly linked.

But newly-single Rumer herself says that's not case:

"He's just a friend of mine," she told me yesterday, at a Beverly Hills launch party for couture dog collars by Dsquared2 and Yoox.com.

"When you're at a party and it's hard to hear, you lean close to talk and people assume things," she explained of their cozy encounter.

At yesterday's bash, she was kissing someone else: her adopted dog Harlow.

"I am huge advocate of getting rescue dogs," Rumer told me. All proceeds from the dog collars go to MuchLove, which helps rescue dogs.

That's one couple we can get behind!

LeAnn Rimes Found Shape Controversy "Very Contradictory"

LeAnn Rimes is confused.

Why, she wondered via Twitter today, is Shape throwing her a party next week and apologizing to readers for her cover story at the same time?

"Just so all my fans know, I'm getting to the bottom of this. It's the first I've heard of this," Rimes wrote, responding to news that the magazine's editor-in-chief, Valerie Latona, had written a mass email acknowledging that some subscribers thought it "a terrible mistake" to have Rimes on the October cover.

"Shape is throwing me a party next week as a thank you and a congrats for being on their cover for the 3rd time. I find this very contradictory," the singer continued.

It turns out she needn't worry about any sniping going on behind her back at Shape.

"I stand by the fact that LeAnn's story is compelling—and her courage and strength in the face of so much adversity is compelling," Latona, who complained that her words were taken out of context by the media, said in a statement. "That is why I put her on the cover of Shape for what is now the third time.

"The fact is a mere 40 readers out of almost 6 million readers wrote in to complain calling LeAnn a 'husband stealer' and a 'terrible mistake for Shape'. I wrote to those women apologizing that our cover choice did not make them happy—as I have done for other cover stars in the past."

Rimes apparently caught onto the mix-up later, tweeting: "I'm amazed daily by the media. Facts are stated and they STILL can't report the truth. The truth could hit them smack in the face and they would twist it. It's actually hysterical to me and terribly disturbing what lies we are fed daily."

Glee To Release Christmas Album

Gleeks beware: Fox is to release a Christmas album featuring the cast (and k.d. lang) singing covers of 12 holiday classics. The disc is set to be released on Nov. 16 — three weeks ahead of a special Glee Yuletide episode (airing on Dec. 7.)

Surprisingly, Dianna Agron/Quinn is not featured in this disc even though she is part of the main cast. A complete track listing is below.

Blake Lively and Penn Badgley Split

Penn Badgley, 24, and Blake Lively, 23, have ended their three-year romance, a rep for the Gossip Girl costars exclusively tells the new Us Weekly (on newsstands now).

They called it quits in mid-September.

"They’re professionals," an insider tells Us Weekly. "They're still good friends and hang out on the set."

The source says that the duo -- who met as preteen actors in L.A. -- "kept this news to themselves for a while.

Indeed, they have always taken a drama-free approach to their relationship.

Badgley told Us last fall that working together while dating didn't present any problems: "Some would say it’s a double-edged sword, but in our case, we manage to balance it well."

Even those closest to the twosome may be shocked to hear the news.

"Nobody on set had any idea," says the insider. "They're really just private."

The actor, who was briefly hospitalized after reportedly trashing a NYC hotel room, is "looking forward" to being back on the Two and a Half Men set Tuesday.

Charlie Sheen is returning to work just days after he was briefly hospitalized for what his rep says was an allergic reaction to medication -- but multiple reports say was intoxication that led him to trash a pricey hotel room at New York City's Plaza Hotel.

"Charlie will be working this week doing a cameo role, playing himself, in a small movie as a favor to a friend and has every intention of going back to work on Two and a Half Men on Tuesday," his manager Mark Burg told People of the actor, who reportedly makes $1.8 million per episode of the highly-rated CBS sitcom. "He's looking forward to working."

The New York Post cited sources as saying that tables and chairs had been thrown around Sheen's Plaza room and a chandelier was damaged and that his ex-wife Denise Richards, who was staying in a separate room with their two young daughters, took him to the hospital.

Sheen told police he had been "out partying," sources told the paper. After returning to his room with an unidentified woman, the actor noticed his wallet was missing, causing him to get enraged, the Post said.
Last year, Sheen was arrested after a fight with then-wife Brooke Mueller who had called 911.

Police were called to The Plaza Hotel just after 2 a.m. where they found a highly intoxicated and naked Charlie Sheen amid a trashed hotel suite, sources said.

Tables and chairs had been thrown around the room, causing hotel security to call 911, sources said. A chandelier was also damaged.

Sheen was taken to the hospital for unspecified reasons. His ex-wife Denise Richards, who was staying in a separate room, accompanied him.

Sheen told police he had been "out partying," sources said. After he returned to his room with an unidentified woman, he noticed his wallet was missing, causing him to fly into a rage, sources said.

Sheen was apparently in town with Richards and their children.

Sheen currently stars on the CBS sitcom "Two and Half Men."

Carey Mulligan Slumming It in Budget Hotel After Shia Split?

Apparently we have an answer to whether Carey Mulligan and Shia LaBeouf are really over.

The Oscar-nominated actress has packed up and moved out of her Wall Street 2 costar's Valley mansion for a freeway-adjacent budget hotel in L.A., according to Britain's Daily Mail.

So, what's her chain of choice?

Citing hotel staff, the newspaper reports that Mulligan is staying at a Best Western in Hollywood, forking over $108 a night for a standard room with a queen bed. She's been spotted shopping at a nearby Gelson's and hauling groceries back to her room for nearly two weeks now.

A source told the Mail that Mulligan's new crash pad was a "place for backpackers, students and those on a budget."

Mulligan, 25, and LaBeouf, 24, hooked up on the set of Wall Street 2, and Mulligan was crashing at his pad while filming her new flick, Drive, around L.A. and he's been on location around the country filming Transformers 3.

No official word on why they split, but there have been rumors of trouble for several weeks now.

Why the low-budget hotel, though?

Maybe she's too party animal for a high-class digs. After all, Mulligan did get evicted from her London flat years back for some seriously "rowdy behavior."

Taylor Momsen makes Miley Cyrus look rather sweet. The "Gossip Girl" star stood by her bad girl image and exposed her breasts on stage while she was performing with her Pretty Reckless band in New York on Thursday. By the way, she is only 17.

While singing the band's "Make Me Wanna Die" single at Don Hill's in NYC, the actress/singer bared her breasts to the audience for a second.

Thankfully, Momsen "tastefully" covered her nipples with pasties, according to Hollywood Life when she took the stage at the Paper Magazine & Express Celebrate "Rock the Sidewalk" event.

But the boob show didn't stop there. She also reportedly ran her hands up and down her body, groping her chest during the act.

While the underage Momsen has made it a habit to shock the world with her bold statements and provocative outfits, this is the first time she actually used and exposed her body to be a marketing tool for their single.

The act makes all the hullabaloo on the "Glee" photo shoot and Cyrus' bra-less day out pretty tame.

Does Liam Neeson have Zach Galifianakis to thank for his new gig on The Hangover 2?

Director Todd Phillips announced this week that Neeson would replace Mel Gibson in the film after unnamed members of the cast and crew raised objection to Gibson's participation.

In a recent interview with the Comedy Death Ray podcast, Hangover star Galifianakis expressed concerns about a movie he was filming at the time, without naming it. "I'm in a deep protest right now with a movie I'm working on, up in arms about something. But I can't get the guys to [listen] ... I'm not making any leeway."

When interviewer Scott Aukerman asked if he was talking about The Hangover 2, the 41-year-old actor cut him off. "It has something to do with a movie I'm working on, yeah," Galifianakis said. "I'll tell you about it later. It's very frustrating."

Now Conscious and Speaking , T.J. Lavin On the Road to Recovery After Bike Crash

After being hospitalized for more than a week, we can happily say that TJ Lavin is showing great signs of improvement.

The BMX rider and MTV host is now speaking and breathing on his own.

His feeding and breathing tubes were removed on Thursday, and friends say Lavin can mumble a few words.

"He's answering questions," friend and business partner Chas Aday tells People. "He'll say 'yes' a little bit and he knows where he is, but he's not opening his eyes yet."

Doctors are saying that the 33-year-old should not suffer any brain damage, but will need rehab after he gets surgery for his shattered wrist.

Lavin had been put in a medically-induced coma after his dirt-bike accident to minimize problems do to brain swelling and his other injuries.

Here's to a speedy recovery!

Russell Brand and Katy Perry got married Saturday (Oct. 23) in India.

The "Get Him to the Greek" star and the chart-topping singer exchanged vows at the Aman-i-Khas resort near Jaipur, India -- the same place where Brand proposed to Perry last December. About 80 family members and friends were in attendance, Us Weekly reports.

Perry and Brand planned a traditional Indian ceremony for their nuptials. She was spotted wearing a bridal nose ring, which the groom removes on the wedding night, and the couple was to sit on a pair of gilded chairs during the ceremony. (Less traditional: Brand had a henna tattoo applied to his hand, a custom usually reserved for the bride.)

Depending on which reports you read, Brand, 35, was going to make his entrance on an elephant or on a horse with elephants flanking him.

Brand and Perry, 26, met on the set of "Get Him to the Greek" last year (she had a cameo in the movie that didn't make the final cut). Despite the trappings of their wedding, Brand says he wants to have a "normal" marriage.
