IFTTT is a simple task scheduler. IFTTT means IF This Then That. (If) you want to automate a task(this) (then) trigger the action(that). Previously we had covered lot of IFTTT recipes to automate web tasks such as sending Instagram pics to WordPress blogs, Upload Facebook photos to dropbox automatically and many more. If you follow our IFTTT tag, you can learn more. When you go to iFTTT there are alot of templates which are ready to use.

You can also create your own recipe. Today we are going to learn about create ifttt recipe for receiving Twitter SMS alert when some one you follow tweets or some one mentions you on twitter etc.

Let’s get started with – IF THIS THEN THAT.

First we are going to activate two channels that are important for our recipe to work.

1. Twitter channel
2. SMS channel.

Only when we connect these two things, we can trigger. IF This(Twitter) Then That (SMS)

Once you’ve signed in to IFTTT, follow this link to create your own recipe. If you’re a new member, sign up for free and start creating a new recipe.

Choose the trigger channel – Twitter.

Activate twitter channel by allowing it to authorize with your twitter account. Then, continue to next step by choosing your trigger.

Now here comes the main part – Your trigger. What you want to trigger ? There are lot of triggers. If some one follows you, when you send a new tweet, favorite tweet, new direct message, new tweet by a specific user, new tweet from a search, hashtag etc.

Here I am going to use the trigger when a New tweet from specific user.

Enter the twitter user name to watch and create the trigger.

The next part is “That”. The action side of the trigger. When you trigger this, what you want to happen ? We would now activate the SMS channel. So that when the trigger performs, it creates an action to Send SMS when a new tweet by a specific user.

Activate the SMS channel. Click the That and select SMS to activate.

Enter 00 , your country code, mobile number. For Indian users it will be example: 00919876543210

You will receive an SMS from IFTTT with the PIN. enter the PIN and activate the channel.

Finally select the Action. ” Send me an SMS when specific user sends out a new tweet everytime ”

You can select the SMS format that you would receive.

Once the recipe is created, it is checked once every 15 minutes.

You can also share this recipe which you created with others. So other people on IFTTT can use the recipe.

Similarly you can create lot of IFTTT recipes for new GMail notification as SMS, Weather updates to SMS etc.

When you are dealing with task involving images, there comes a situation where you find text or quotes on an image you wish you can just copy down to paste somewhere else. But the evident problem is, you can’t just copy text printed on an image, can you?

Rather than retype every single letter in the image, which won’t work if there’s a lot to copy, there is a way to copy text straight from images, use GT Text. GT Text is a freeware for PC made to help you extract text from images.

Copy Text From Images With GT Text
To start copying text from images, go to the GT Text download page and download the latest of many versions available.

2.When the download is complete, run the installer and proceed with the installation process.

3.Now when you are ready, run the application from your computer and the file explorer will appear. Select the type of image files you want to open, and browse the location. GT Text supports TIFF, JPG, GIF, BMP and PNG file formats. After selecting the images, click Open.

4.GT Text will open the image. Now click on the ‘Area Text OCR’ button as shown below.

5.With your cursor active, select the text area you want to copy and release the mouse.

6.Releasing the mouse will load a text prompt as per what’s highlighted, now click Continue to copy the text to clipboard.

7.Once copied, open your Notepad or any other note-taking application and paste.

Other Features
To copy every text without highlighting, simply press Ctrl + F and GT Text will extract all available text for you. Alternatively, you can go to Tools > Copy Text From > Full image to do the same.

The default language used is English, but you can add other languages too. To add other languages,

How To Setup And Print Wirelessly With Google Cloud Print

Printing is usually the last step towards a documentation exercise. However, often times you may not have quick access to a printer, or you may have multiple devices with only one connected to the printer, and you may need to ‘hijack’ the plugged-in device just to get your stuff printed. When did printing become such a hassle?

Wouldn’t it be easier if you can connect all your devices — including your tablets and phones — to one particular printer and print straight from any one of the devices, from any where, as long as you’re connected to the Internet?

This can actually now be done with the help of Google Cloud Print (GCP), a cloud service by Google which connects your printer with multiple devices via cloud connect, so you can print from any of your devices. With GCP, you do not have to worry about installing a printer’s driver in your computer, which is a hassle by itself when it is not supported by particular operating systems or versions.

How Google Cloud Print Works
GCP works as a platform to submit and manage print jobs via Internet cloud, and printing jobs can be sent from multiple platforms, be it from a native computer, mobile app or web app. When a printing job is sent, GCP is responsible for sending these instructions to the designated printer, selected by the user.

Using GCP over a secure HTTPS web connection keeps your contents safe, and makes it very convenient to send printing jobs from a variety of devices, not just a computer. On the plus side, you get to share printer usage with your friends and colleagues too. In an office setting, the management can invest on one better printer rather than several average-quality ones.

Using Google Cloud Print
To start using GCP, you need to connect your Google account to the service. You first need to have Google Chrome installed in your computer, be it a Mac or PC (Windows XP users need to have Microsoft XML paper specification pack installed together).

1. Launch Google Chrome
When you have Google Chrome installed and launched, click on the wrench icon on the top right corner of the browser, next to the address bar and look up for sub menu ‘Options’ (or ‘Preferences…’ if you are on Mac).

2. Under The Hood
At the Options/Preferences window, go to ‘Under the Hood’ on the left menu.

3. Sign In To Google Cloud Print
Under the Hood, scroll down to the bottom of the page and click on ‘Sign in to Google Cloud Print’.

Proceed to manage your printers.

4. Connect To Printer
If you are using a standard printer, consider your job done. GCP recognizes almost any type of printer so when you click on ‘Manage your printers’, you will see your printer already listed and ready for use.

But if you own a Cloud-Ready printer, you need to first register them from the product website before you can use the GCP service. Click on the ‘Add a Cloud-Ready Printer’ menu on the left.

You will be redirected to a page with instructions to add these printers, together with the links to the registration page. Simply follow the instruction, and enter the email address registered with the product.

5. Share Your Printer
One of the great features provided by GCP is the ability to share the use of your printer with others. To start sharing printer usage or to authorize other users to use the printer, highlight any printer from your list and click on the green ‘Share’ button.

A small window will pop-up. Simply type in the email of the person you want to authorize the usage of your printer for, and click ‘Share’.

You will be able to see the name of the person in the list. Note that you can remove authorized persons at anytime.

6. Start Printing!
Your printer is now connected to the GCP and you can start printing from anywhere as long as you are connected to your Google Account on Google Chrome. Be it your own printer or your friends’, printing is simple as long as the printer is already listed in your GCP account.

To start printing from your Chrome, Ctrl+P the command or select ‘Print’ from the wrench menu. A new Window or ‘Tab’ will appear with printing details and a preview. Click on the ‘Print’ button and the printing job is sent to be executed.

Ever gone to work or class but forgot to bring your phone along? What options would you have then? Well, you can borrow a colleague or a classmate’s phone for emergency texts or calls, but there is no way to receive the messages that are sent to our phone. If you have access to a computer then you can use your other online social networks to communicate with friends but what about those who are not comfortable using this method?

How about using your Chrome browser to manage your SMSes without even using your phone? Well, we’ve found out that you can do that with MightyText, aptly known as Texty. MightyText is an Android application that will synchronize your SMSes with a Chrome browser via an extension. This allows you to use Chrome to send and receive your SMSes during emergencies like this.

Send And Receive SMS Via Chrome

To prepare for this, download MightyText Android App on your phone from Google Play.

When the installation is complete, open the app and complete setup by connecting MightyText with your Google account.

Then install MightyText Chrome Extension on your browser.

Once installation is done, you will be prompted with a notification telling you that you can start sending and receiving SMS from your Chrome Browser. An icon has now been added to your browser. Click the MightyText icon.

After clicking MightyText icon, you will be prompted with your account status: you are not logged in to your Google account. Click on the link to sign in using your Google account.

It will redirect you to a new page to allow the access. Click ‘Allow’.

Once the access is granted, you will see a popup at the top right corner of your computer screen notifying you about how many messages have been received since you installed the Android app. Now every time when you received SMS, you will see this popup.

That said, you can now start sending and receiving SMS from your computer right in your Chrome browser. Anytime you need to use the application, open your Chrome browser and click on the MightyText icon to view the MightyText SMS page.

At the top bar, there’s a notice to sync your contacts. Click to sync MightyText with your Google contacts so that the mobile numbers will appear as your friend’s names instead of their numbers. To compose new messages, simply click the ‘Compose New’ button.

Conclusion

The Facebook ‘Like’ button is a powerful tool you can utilize to increase the fan base for your brands, companies and products. As part of the marketing strategy for many pages, this Like button is used as a ‘gate’ before any potential customer gets to see detailed info or perform downloads. By Mustaza Mustafa.

There are actually three actions you can program your ‘Like’ button to do. It can be a gate for redirects, to allow downloads as well as to reveal a page. And we are going to show you how in this tutorial.

#1. Creating A Like Gate

You can use the ‘Like’ button as a ‘gate’ that will hide your original content from public view. Readers who want access to the full content available on the Facebook page will have to ‘Like’ the page first. Technically, this is the simplest way to gain more ‘Likes’.

Creating A ‘Like Gate’ With Woobox

With Woobox, you can simply install the app to your Facebook Page and start creating tabs with a Like gate, for free.

To start, go to the Woobox website and click on the signup button.

9.When you have completed the form with the relevant content, don’t forget to scroll down and click on the Save Settings button.

10.Once saved, your Tab is now ready with a Like gate! That’s how easy it is, now click the View Tab button to see your final result.

11.In this page, as the admin you will see ‘Admin Tab Options’ at the top of your content. Click the View as Non-Fan to preview your content for your non-Fans.

#2. Creating ‘Like To Download’ Action

‘Like to download’ also function like a ‘gate’ before ‘download’ can be done. Say, if you have a freebies to give your website visitors, you can require them to click on the like button before they can perform any download. The link to download will only appear after a person click ‘Like’.

To do this, go to the Facebook Like To Download official page, scroll down and fill up the simple form with your Facebook Page address or target website address, then provide the link to download, set the width and preferred color and then hit the button ‘Create Your Like Gate Now’.

After this, you will get to see the preview together with the working code. Copy the embed code and paste it to your website or blog.

After adding the code to your site, your visitor will see the instruction to ‘Like’ before the download can be done, and once they click Like, the download button will appear.

#3. Creating ‘Like To Redirect’ (To A Different Page)

‘Like to redirect’ will help you redirect your visitors to an external page or website after they click the ‘Like’ button on your Facebook tab page. Now, instead of preparing a landing page or ‘page source’, you can actually redirect the new fans to your own website’s landing page after they click the ‘Like’ button.

Creating ‘Like To Redirect’ With Woobox

To redirect with Woobox, follow the first part of this article (Creating a ‘Like Gate’ with Woobox) until ‘Step 8‘ and under ‘Page Source‘, select ‘Redirect‘. Fill up the external page with the URL you want to redirect your fans to.

Don’t forget to set the ‘Non-fan page source’ too, and save the settings. Now, whenever a person clicks on the ‘Like’ button from this tab page, they will be redirected away from Facebook, to the URL you specified.

Note: Facebook changes most of its features all the time, and if previously you can also redirect users who like your page directly from your website, it seems difficult to achieve that when Facebook additionally pops up the ‘share’ option whenever you click ‘Like’.

How to schedule a post on Facebook from Facebook

Facebook is undergoing a new phase in it's evolution, many new features are being launched and it's our duty to keep you informed and up-to-date.

The feature discussed in this article is really interesting and for now only available for pages. Starting today you can schedule when a post is published, a news story as a status update, photo, link, event, or any other content.

You no longer need to use an external application to schedule the publication of a post. We can use a feature recently added to Facebook pages.

All you need to do is prepare the content (writing a status update or paste a link, upload a photo or video for example) and click on the clock in the lower left corner (see image above). You then choose year, month, day and time for publishing the post.

Once finished, click on "schedule" and your post will be automatically published on the day and you have programmed. You can manage the scheduled post in the activity log.

How to Set Admin Roles for your Facebook Page

Finally, Facebook is allowing multiple roles for page administrators!

Prior to this feature, giving someone admin access to a Facebook page was an all or nothing thing. All admins had complete and total access to the page. Obviously, this posed huge security risks on many different levels and made it way too easy for pages to be hi-jacked or deleted. Also, if any admin had their Facebook account compromised, then pages under their control were in jeopardy.

Now all of that has changed and page owners can breathe a sigh of relief. Pages can have admins assigned with the following roles.

Manager
Content Creator
Moderator
Advertiser
Insights Analyst

So, if you are a Facebook page owner, and you want to set these granular controls for your admins – here is how you do it:

1. Access the ‘Admin Panel’ on your Facebook page.

2. Click the ‘Manage‘ drop down menu and select ‘Settings.’

3. Next, you will click ‘Admin Roles‘ in the left column.

4. Assign the appropriate controls for your Admins and click ‘Save.’

Even with these new controls, it is important to take additional steps to further secure your Facebook page. We recommend that you require all admins to have Login Approvals enabled on their Facebook account. This requires users to enter a code they receive via text message if Facebook doesn’t recognize the device they are logging in from. So, even if a hacker obtains their password, they still wouldn’t be able to access their Facebook account (and your page) without the code. There are also third party, social media management platforms you could consider that provide additional security benefits.

I was just annoyed time by time to find a solution to watch a blocked video.
