It was a colorful UCF postgame interview following the Knights' 35-3 loss at No. 2 Texas.

UCF Coach George O'Leary attempted to kick Bright House Sports Network reporter David Baumann out of the postgame interviews because of a radio report he made Friday night. Baumann was filling in for Jerry O'Neil on 1080-AM when he reported Brett Hodges and Brynn Harvey would not start against the Longhorns, citing anonymous sources.

Baumann did not inform UCF he was reporting the information based on anonymous tip before going on the air. Hodges and Harvey did not play against the Longhorns due to injuries.

"It is our preference, if not policy, that member of the media confirm any player injury status with the sports SID prior to release," UCF associate athletics director Joe Hornstein said after the Texas game. "Regardless of anonymous sources, we ask our members of the media for that courtesy."

-- Knights will punt to open the fourth quarter.

-- Looked like UCF got a safety, but the refs on the field say Texas was just out of the end zone. Play is under review.

-- Ruling on the field stands. No safety.

-- Michael Greco almost had a pick as Colt McCoy fired up field under pressure. Longhorns are still struggling to get out of their end zone.

-- Colt McCoy completed a pass to Malcolm Williams for an 11-yard gain, but once again the play is under review.

-- Ruling on the field stands, and Texas gets some room to work.

-- Colt McCoy connects with Jordan Shipley for an 88-yard touchdown pass.

-- No. 2 Texas stretches its lead to 28-3 over UCF with 13:01 left in the third quarter.

-- The UCF offense seems to have shut down for the day, and the defense is still fighting to keep Texas from scoring more points.

-- Texas rushes for another touchdown, padding the score. Longhorns lead Knights 35-3 with 9:13 left in the game. I'm heading down soon for postgame interviews. Check back soon for complete postgame coverage.

-- Texas' Jordan Shipley has 11 catches for 273 yards and one touchdown.

-- UCF threatened to score one more touchdown late, but the Longhorns held the Knights out of the end zone.

-- Third down conversion will have a major impact on UCF this half. The Knights got their first big stop, sacking Colt McCoy on third-and-seven.

-- Shanked punt gives UCF the ball on its 31. Let's see if the UCF offense regain the form it showed in the first quarter.

-- UCF has 61 rushing yards early in the third quarter against Texas. The Longhorns entered the game allowing 52.9 rushing yds per game.

-- Well, UCF's defense held Texas on third down but UCF's offense couldn't convert on third down. Texas will start its next drive on its 13.

-- Ooh, another near pick for the Knights. Lawrence Young tipped the ball but couldn't grab it.

-- Colt McCoy connects with Jordan Shipley for 18 yards, extending another Texas drive. Shipley has 10 catches for 185 yards.

-- Lawrence Young went down on the last play and was helped off the field by the UCF trainers.

-- Colt McCoy completes another touchdown pass, pushing No. Texas ahead of UCF 21-3 with 3:11 left in the third quarter.

-- Nice return by Quincy McDuffie for 27 yards. UCF starts on its 46.

-- The announced attendance for today's UCF game at No. 2 Texas was 101,003. The crowd is a little smaller than that, but not much.

-- I don't think there will be a QB controversy after this game, but I do think UCF may have found another starting running back.

-- Offsides call on Texas helps out the Knights. UCF moves to Texas' 41.

-- Two steps forward, one back. False start on UCF makes it first-and-15 at the 46.

-- Texas D sacks Rob Calabrese on 3rd down at the end of the 3rd quarter for a loss of eight. Texas leads UCF 21-3.

-- UCF opens the second quarter with the ball on the Longhorns' 39-yard line. Despite starting Rob Calabrese and Jonathan Davis over Brett Hodges and Brynn Harvey, the Knights' offense is moving the ball well. Looks like UCF is playing with nothing to lose.

-- Big play by Jonathan Davis, who got hit and kept going for a 12 yard gain. Knights are on Texas' 22.

-- UCF got lucky that Calabrese's pitch under pressure was called an incomplete forward pass instead of a fumble.

-- Texas asked its fans to get loud. Very impressive for UCF that the UT defense need the help. Timeout UCF on 3rd-and-10 at TX 22.

-- UCF's Jonathan Davis has seven carries for 32 yards so far against Texas. The Texas D entered this game allowing 52.9 rushing yds per game.

-- Calabrese's pass to Kamar Aiken was incomplete and sailed out of bounds. This time, the Knights are going to try a 39-yd field goal.

-- Nick Cattoi hit a 39-yard field goal and UCF has a 3-0 lead over No. 2 Texas with 13:00 left in the second quarter.

-- UCF defense gives Colt McCoy a ton of time, and he connects with Jordan Shipley for 44-yards. Fans wanted horse collar call.

-- Texas quickly marched down the field, with Cody Johnson rushing 20 yards for a touchdown. Looks like Texas finally woke up. Texas leads UCF 7-3 with 11:49 left in the second quarter.

-- UCF offense goes three-and-out. Blake Clingan punts the ball high and 50 yards deep. Texas starts at its 28.

-- Colt McCoy converts on third down, passing to John Chiles for a 16-yard gain. Ball is on the Texas 48.

-- Bruce Miller has been hounding Colt McCoy. Texas was called for holding on the last play, giving Texas first-and-20 at its 38.

-- Colt McCoy connects with Jordan Shipley for a 16-yard gain and first down. Tough for UCF's defense, which had a nice advantage.

-- UCF had another third-and-nine situation. Waaaay too much time for Colt McCoy and Jordan Shipley was wide open for 19 yards. First down at UCF 22.

-- Cody Johnson powers past UCF's defense for a 13-yard touchdown.

-- Third down conversion haunted the UCF D on that drive.

-- No. 2 Texas claims a 14-3 lead over UCF with 5:29 left in the second quarter.

-- Is it just me, or does it seem like Quincy McDuffie runs into a lot of piles on kickoff returns. He doesn't get tackled, he gets tripped.

-- Very nice fake by Rob Calabrese, selling the pitch and keeping for the first down. UCF ball at Texas 31.

-- UCF goes backward on three consecutive plays. Knights punt and a friendly bounce gives Blake Clingan a 70-yd punt. Texas starts on its 7.

-- UCF's Josh Robinson picked off a Colt McCoy pass, running it back to the UCF 17. It stopped a fast and promising Texas drive.

-- The UCF offense couldn't do anything with Robinson's interception, but the defense avoided a late Texas score. Longhorns lead the Knights 14-3 at the half.

-- Texas is blasting Zombie Nation before the opening kickoff. Knights are bouncing on the sideline.

-- As previously reported, Rob Calabrese and Jonathan Davis are starting for the Knights.

-- Knights go three-and-out on their opening possession.

-- Texas starts its first possession on its 41.

-- Good series for UCF defense with Texas missing a 44-yard field goal. Score is tied 0-0 with 10:02 left in the first quarter. Michael Greco was in position and nearly intercepted a Colt McCoy pass, forcing Texas to attempt the field goal.

-- Rob Calabrese was sacked, but Texas called for a horse collar tackle to give the Knights their first first down of the day.

-- Option pitch from Rob Calabrese to A.J. Guyton gives UCF a first down.

-- Rob Calabrese scrambles for another UCF first down and the Knights are really moving the ball.

-- Calabrese held on to the ball way too long and was sacked. Knights take a six-yard loss, facing second-and-16 at the Texas 37.

-- UCF calls a timeout on fourth-and-10 at the Texas 31. There is 4:43 left in the first quarter. Score is 0-0. Field goal, right?

-- Wow, the Knights opted to punt. No field goal attempt from the Texas 31. Longhorns take over on their 12.

-- Fumble on what looked like a botched pitch, but Texas recovered it for a loss of 13. Knights miss second shot at forcing a turnover.

-- Thanks to Texas fumble, Longhorns are forced to punt. Another good series for the defense, although it's tough to let those turnover opportunities slip away. UCF offense starts on its 42.

-- Calabrese completes a pass to Ricky Kay for 11 yards. Knights are moving the ball well on offense. UCF has the ball on Texas' 39.

Hodges was sore after taking a lot of hits against Marshall. I can't get an official update on the injury until after the game, but I'm guessing the decision not to play him will be blamed on a rib injury. And I'm also guessing the official word on Brynn Harvey will be an ankle injury. Rob Calabrese and Jonathan Davis will start against the Longhorns.

Both Hodges and Harvey are warming up and can be used this game if no one else is available. The depth chart at quarterback will be Calabrese, Joe Weatherford and Hodges. Nico Flores is on the trip, but the coaches don't want to burn his redshirt.

Holder Austin Hudson and running back Ronnie Weaver also are out with injuries.

Ian Bustillo suffered a sprained ankle this week, but he was warming up snapping the ball to Calabrese and is expected to play.

-- Slow arriving crowd here at Texas. To be more specific, the fans are slow to leave the tailgate lots. The student section is empty. I think an 11 a.m. (Austin-time) kickoff for them is a little too early.

-- Texas is working its way through an extensive pregame show, complete with a large band, flyover and huge Texas flag. The stadium still isn't full, but a large crowd is in place and the fans are enthusiastic.

-- UCF won the coin toss and will receive the opening kickoff against No. 2 Texas.

Well, big news from Austin.

UCF Coach George O'Leary has decided not to play starting quarterback Brett Hodges and Brynn Harvey against the Longhorns.

It was a little bit of misdirection by O'Leary, who had said all week he intended to play all his starters against No. 2 Texas.

"You've got to play to win," O'Leary said during his weekly press conference Tuesday. "The kids that can go and can go 100 percent, you're going to play. That's the way I've always run the game. I don't look at the next game until we have to play it. That's how I see the schedule. Texas is the five-game season, they're the fifth game. The first of the fifth. We're going to play the people who are available to play and hopefully that's everybody that played the last game."

O'Leary went on to say he expected the Knights to give their best effort against the Longhorns.

"Every game is very serious game for us," he said. "We'll play as hard as we can play with great effort. That's what I expect from our football team and they know that. We don't have the talent base to go in and say, let's just play volleyball out here. We just don't. They're a very good team, they're in the hunt, but we've got a game to play and we're going to play and shoot all the bullets we have."

Hodges was sore after taking a beating against Marshall Sunday, but when I spoke with O'Leary Thursday, he said he expected to Hodges to start. O'Leary said the only starter or backup he expected to would miss the Texas game was WR Jamar Newsome.

Click on this link to check out Mike Bianch's thoughts on the subject.

The Knights host a big homecoming game against No. 13 Houston next week, with major Conference USA title implications on the line.

What do you think of O'Leary's decision?

The Knights are coming off of a 21-20 last-minute win over Marshall, while the Longhorns are undefeated and have their eyes on a spot in the national championship game.
About Texas (8-0, 5-0 Big 12)
Heisman Trophy candidate Colt McCoy leads a potent Texas offense that features numerous playmakers, including standout WR Jordan Shipley. The Longhorns lead the country in scoring offense (41.8 points per game) and rank third in total defense (240.8 yards allowed per game).
About UCF (5-3, 3-2 C-USA)
UCF will be leaning heavily on senior transfer QB Brett Hodges and the Knights’ potent defensive line against Texas. Hodges has led a much-improved UCF offense, with the Knights passing for 1,727 yards compared to 1,395 passing yards during the 2008 season. UCF’s defense leads Conference USA in rushing, scoring and total defense; sacks; and tackles for a loss.
What to watch
-- Knights have to play flawless football, including no turnovers or penalties, to upset the Longhorns.
-- UCF’s defensive front line has to put heavy pressure on McCoy, hindering Texas’ offense.
-- The Knights need big plays, including deep passes and long special teams returns to gain an advantage.
The Buzz
Texas, a 36-point favorite against UCF, is 16-0 against Conference USA teams during Mack Brown’s 12-year tenure.
