They were waiting for, of course, Tim Tebow, hoping to snag an autograph after his second-to-last game. Yep, not even his last. So you can imagine the pandemonium surrounding Saturday's FSU game when Tebow takes his last post-game lap around Ben Hill Griffin Stadium. 

But Saturday should be about the star-studded senior class more than one singular player. Tebow, Brandon Spikes, Ryan Stamper, Jermaine Cunningham, Brandon James and many others helped the Gators compile this record the last four years.

Maybe the Gators threw a couple more drag routes than usual with Tebow, and the Gators couldn't connect on any deep-downfield passing attempts. But the second half was another reminder that the Gators should be in good hands in 2010 courtesy of John Brantley, as Sentinel columnist George Diaz points out.

Sure, he was playing FIU, but Brantley looks smooth out there. Every time he throws the ball it looks like toilet paper is coming out of his hands. Soft touch. 

The Gators look much different on offense with Brantley in the game, relying much less on the run and more on the playaction and downfield routes. Frankie Hammond, Omarius Hines and Justin Williams, all young receivers as part of the second unit, caught a touchdown pass from Brantley, who only needed three drives to score each time.

Brantley said his chemistry is high with the second unit because they play together every day in practice. Brantley is now three games from becoming the Gators' full-time starter. He'll take over the keys to the Range Rover after the bowl game.

"It's always what I've dreamt about being a starter at the Florida, but I have definitely thought about that (next year it is going to be my team)," Brantley said.

ESPN College GameDay will cover its eighth Florida-Florida State matchup when the two teams meet Saturday in The Swamp, the most of any two programs. Florida has made 31 overall appearances on GameDay, also an ESPN record. The last time Florida appeared on GaameDay was Oct. 10 against LSU.

PLAYF OF GAME:

*Tebow stiff-arms his way down the left sideline for a 55-yard touchdown run – the longest of his career – with 9:18 left in the first quarter. Tebow’s 54th rushing touchdown broke the SEC total touchdowns record (non-passing) previously held by LSU’s Kevin Faulk.

You got to wonder if freshman Mike Gillislee's hamstring is still a little tweaked because while he has played on special teams, it is Christopher Scott getting the garbage time carries that Gillislee usually gets.

It took John Brantley less than quarter to throw as many touchdowns as Tim Tebow did in more than a half of play. This time, Brantley found Justin Williams open by the front pylon for a 16-yard score.

Carlos Dunlap looks to be practicing for a possible future as an offensive coordinator. The defensive end was standing next to Tebow mimicking his signals to the offense.

Walk-on quarterback Andrew Blaylock entered the game for a play before Brantley returned to the field.

Brantley just drops a bomb right into the awaiting arms of Frankie Hammond Jr. for a 31-yard touchdown. Jon Phillips extra-point try is blocked.

It looks like the Gators are trying to pad Tim Tebow's stats for his Heisman resume. All five plays on the drive were throws and three of the attempts were shots down the field, finishing the drive with an 18-yard touchdown throw to Riley Cooper. 42-3 Gators

It's John Brantley time.

Bring in Brantley after just one drive on offense shows that first drive was just for Tebow to get some more stats to help his Heisman campaign.

Gators fan should get used to Brantley to Omarius Hines because they probably will be seeing it a lot next year.

What is interesting about the substitution being made by the Gators is there are starters still on the field, but they are underclassmen, including Chris Rainey and Jeff Demps.

With the some of the starting receivers not stepping up this season, Hines is making a push to see more time on the field. Hines caught a pass made a guy miss then dragged a defender about five yards into the end zone for a 20-yard touchdown. 49-3 Gators

After getting stuffed on third and short, the FIU offense stayed on the field to go for it, catching the Gators by surprise, who had both the punt return team and their defense on the field. But instead of snapping the ball and getting a too many men on the field penalty called on Florida for a first down, the Panthers let the time run out in the quarter.

Rainey will get all the credit for this one. After getting the pitch on an option play, he used the blocks by David Nelson and Deonte Cooper then made another guy miss on his was to a 22-yard touchdown run. 28-0 Gators

The FIU offense finally showed some signs of life. Led by a 16-yard run by Wayne Younger, the Panthers drove to the Gators' 16-yard line before being stopped. FIU sent out the kick team to put some points on the board, but Dustin Rivest sends it wide right.

The talent gap between FIU and UF is enormous. The Panthers' defense did a good job of taking away all three choices on the option play but, Tebow is able to improvise for 10-yard gain.

Jeff Demps is just too fast for FIU. On a play that was supposed to go behind the tackle, he bounced it out and outraced everybody to the corner, and from there, it was an easy jog into the end zone for a 3-yard touchdown. 35-0 Gators

After blowing right past Joe Haden, FIU receiver T.Y. Hilton makes a one-handed catch for a 26-yard gain.
