and he will graduate your players like bob nash.

Then why is Oregon getting rid of him...or are they? PLus he's going to take a pay cut, right?

So far, I haven't seen a name or a link to who's interested in UH that I would like...... [/]

[unpaid]The odds are against him. The only broadcaster I can think of who became the head coach was the Arizona Diamondbacks PBP guy who became manager for a few seasons. Other than that,I think there are few ,if any ,success stories. Seriously, would you want the Leahy's coaching the football team?

On the other hand, Ronald Reagan did PBP for an Iowa baseball team in his early years, and went on to become president of the USA......so, who knows?Still, Reagan didn't go on to coach that baseball team....hmmmmmm!!!

Bottom line, Wilson was a good high school and college player, but what did he do afterwards.......right,he talked about the sport! Stick with the mic,Mr. Wilson.[/]
Pat Riley was a Lakers announcer before he became HC.

Re: Best Hawaii Wrestler Pound for Pound

The problem lies with choosing to only look at the last 4 years. Both Punahou and Lahinaluna have great kids programs which feed their programs. I would also have to disagree with this notion that Kamehameha seems to have all these "incredible athletes. They have their share but come on...so does Punahou.

Lets go down Punahou's starting line up.....108 Kondo...maybe..114Jordon Ing over achiever? I think not......120 Fukushima, Over Achiever? I think not...125 Murakawa. Over achiever?...I think not...130Happy Dang.Over achiever? Think not...135Bryan Peralta.Over achiever? Think not.140Galen McCleary...not...Sam Gill, maybe...Zac Hernandez...not.LJ Remiliard...not....Sheehan...nope....Johnson....yes...Buck...perhaps...Sani..definitely not.

So I don't understand why you would want to call a great bunch of kids who have wrestled for a lot longer then 9th or Middle school., a bunch of over achievers. Some like Fukushima, Hernandez and Remiliard, come from strong athletic bloodlines. Some like Sheehan, Dang, McCleary, have been wrestling a long time. Many like Ing, were successful Judoka before wrestlers. Sani and Peralta some of the most athletic the state has to offer. Give some credit to these kids!

Kamehameha gives preference to indigenous children, poverty level, orphans and a few other categories I am sure. Most of the kids who go there would be in public school if it were not for Kamehameha. What a blessing this school has been. I do not believe that such would be the case for a school like Iolani or Punahou. My point being, many of these children come from homes that don't have that high level of motivation and or discipline that you may see in a home of a child from Iolani or Punahou. Punahou's kids come knowing how to succeed where as many of Kamehameha's have to be taught.

Perhaps the "over achiever" title is to recognize the coaches for the fine job they are doing. Matt and Jimmy are awesome people as well as coaches, but lets not forget, they both have been there a lot longer then 4 years. I believe this is Oneys 20th season and Jimmys...I wont pretend to know that, but It's been a while. Give these kids some credit for the amount of time they have put in to there sport. Their is a little more going on then just a great coaching staff.

Wrestling 2010-2011 Predictions!!!!!

Who do you think will be the top contenders next year in the state? I'll give the number one guy in each weight class. Can someone try and do top 3-5? your input is greatly needed. here goes..

108-Cassidy Oshiro-Dominated this year and would be a smart move to stay at 108 where he would go uncontested

114-Ryan Nakagawa is a force to be reckoned with, giving Jordan Ng a very tough fight. He should have lots of room for improvement.

120-David Terao-Coming off a very dominant year will run the tables

125-Todd Murakawa-A very techinically sound wrestler who will go the distance but not without tough matches like Brady

130-Shayden Terukina- Probably the most dominant wrestler in the state tournament, he should take it all for his senior year.

135-??? Please Help me fill in these weight classes!!!

140-Bryan Peralta-Had a tough time cutting weight and with Mccleary graduating, he will with no doubt move up to fill the void.

145-???? Please Help me fill in these weight classes!!!

152-LJ Remillard-Moved up to a tough weight class but will probably make the cut back down to 152 and will dominate.

160-Zack Hernandez-Had a tough run at 160, having Cooper pinned(bailed out because of blood), and giving Kameona
all he could handle before moving down to 152 and in my opinion could have beaten Carney but not the more physcial Corbett.

171-Raynald Cooper III- will probably move up to challenge whoever steps up to take him down. Will probably manhandle everyone except Corbett, Carney, Hernandez. Depending on where they go.

189-Pat Sheehan- Coming off a devastating loss, will probably bulk up and rule 189, his only weakness is his brute strength and it that area he can be beaten.

215-Paihi Pestano-Hands down Paihi will rule 215. He will only get more mature physically, techinically and mentally.

285-???? Please Help me fill in these weight classes!!!

The top four Coaching programs in the state would have to go in this order:
1. Punahou- 4 state titles in a row. Nothing more need be said
2. Lahainaluna- They produce quality wrestlers every year and always have a strong showing at the state tournament.
3. Kamehameha- no doubt they produce quality wrestlers but just always fall short of winning it all
4. Kahuku- the best of the oia coaching staffs.
