Big week for Miss Maggie. She has officially found her toes. I know! I said it was big! Love love love this stage.

And here’s Finn at around the same age on the entrance sign to the Mothers’ Milk Bank Austin. What a chunk!

First Grade!

When I was in high school, my friend Adam’s mom showed me a series of pictures taken on the first day of school. In all of the pictures Adam stood in front of their front door. I loved seeing the yearly change and I thought at the time that I was going to do the same thing if I ever had kids. With Seamus, I decided to add a chalkboard and have him write his name. It’s amazing how much changes in a year. He’s huge compared to last year. He’s using lowercase letters. He has laces instead of Velcro. And first grade is the year of the exclamation point!!!

So far my first grader has humored me twice. Here’s hoping it continues. To see how much he’s grown, check out his first day of kindergarten shots here.

I’m taking a deep breath and jumping back in to the blog. Rather than attempt to catch up on all I haven’t posted in the last 8 months, I’ll just pick up from where we are now. I think this one pretty much sums it up.

These are some of my favorite kids. Kristin was the first newborn I spent a significant amount of time with before Seamus was born (she now likes to refer to me as “Seamus’s mom” on occasion until I politely remind her that she has known me longer than Seamus has, knows my name, and should feel free to use it).

Kristin is a super sweet direction follower. Lars is c-r-a-z-y (in a very fun and always interesting way). And Mr. Ian, who has been stuck being “the baby” for 2 years, has burst out of the shadow of the others and is such a love bug.

The next one makes me laugh. The expression on Kristin’s face says, “you’re still taking pictures while he’s doing that?”

Shorts under the dress – always a good idea.

See? Love bug (who was eating up all the attention from his siblings).

tracy, scott, cooper & hazel

It’s a lot of fun shooting close friends but it always makes me super nervous. Happily, Cooper has mastered the art of smiling without completely closing his eyes, Hazel was in a playful mood, Scott didn’t moon the camera, and Tracy didn’t throw her hands up in self-defense. And that’s called progress.

I love so many from this session.

I met this soon-to-be family of four at the greenbelt on a Saturday morning. For some reason the greenbelt is always a early spring/late summer place for me. Turns out it’s beautiful all year round. Crunchy leaves, plenty of sunlight poking through the trees, and dry creek bed (not to mention an adorable 2 year old boy with awesome accessories and and his up-for-anything parents). My favorite. I’ll be heading there in the Fall more often.

Here’s the same greenbelt access in the Spring and Summer.

A few weeks ago I went back to Seamus’s old preschool to take portraits of the kids. It was exhausting but so much fun. The first morning I tackled the infant room with the assistance of my cousin, Melissa. I was a tiny bit nervous that I’d catch them at the separation anxiety phase and get only tears. But I have to say, these babies loved me (the feeling was mutual).
