In this article, I will outline different types of review site and show you how to use them to find your own consistent result and best registry cleaner.
Some guidelines to follow:
Rule #1 - Does not believe what they tell you. You should always prepare to test your result, if you have limited time, just select 5 to 10 of the recommended products and do some simple test on your machine.
Rule #2 - Reference the review sites and set your own guidelines. You can easily set your own testing guidelines with reference to what already being used.
Rule #3 - prepared your testing environment. I urge you to use Microsoft Virtual PC as an evaluation tool to help you in your testing process. Replaced the tested registry cleaner with the backup operating system, ensure each registry cleaner has the same testing ground.
Some suggested guidelines:
Guideline #1 - How many errors detected, the more the better because the more errors found, the windows registry size can reduce to smaller and faster!
Guideline #2 - How fast the software finished scanning will determine how optimize the software is.
Guideline #3 - How safe to repair, any auto-backup provided?
Guideline #4 - Any advanced tools or extra features to accelerate the computer speed?
Guideline #5 - Provide protection to known ActiveX dlls from spyware and unknown thread!
Guideline #6 - How effective is the deep scan? will it be able to capture indepth registry problems?
Guideline #7 - How effective in restoring computer speed after repairing your registry? Do you really feel the speed?
With 3 rules and 7 guidelines, you don't have to rely on other registry cleaner reviews sites to tell you which is the best registry cleaner, because you tested it, and you know what is scam and what is not!

I've posted an article in eZineArticles.com called Keeping Your PC Safe From Spyware. Here's the lead-in of that post:

Broadband Internet truly has been an amazing equalizer, allowing mom-and-pop shops to compete with the big boys on Madison Avenue. It's also brought streaming audio and video, rich content, and almost-instant connectivity to friends and family across the globe. It's also brought its share of pain to the party in the form of spam, adware, viruses, spyware, and other malware.

The keys to keeping your PC safe from spyware is three-fold:

Detection. You have to know whether spyware and other malicious code, also known as adware and malware, has infected your PC. Liken this to cancer treatment: Unless you about its existence, you just feel sick.

Removal. You have to excise the cancer, or else it will spread.

Prevention. The last step in fighting cancer, and spyware, is prevention. Once, you've gotten rid of all the spyware, you can take steps to inoclulate your PC against recurring infestations.

The best way to accomplish all 3 steps in one fell swoop is to install an anti-spyware program, like Ad Aware Pro, Spyware Nuker, or Spyware Doctor. These are the creme of the crop; they are designed from the ground up to detect, remove, and protect against spyware, adware, and malware of all sorts.

However, the two steps below will help you clean up all adware and spyware squeaky clean 95% of the time:

1. Safe Mode Protocol

Reboot your computer in safe mode. If you are running Windows XP or vista, it’s just a matter of pressing F8 key before the windows loading screen appears. Once you are in safe mode, only the most important applications will be running. They are inbuilt functions of the Windows operating system. With all the other programs turned off, the cleaning process by the anti spyware program will be much more effective.

2. Rinse and Repeat

You can now run a full diagnostic and clean up of your computer in safe mode using your spyware removal software. Once this is done, restart your PC AGAIN in safe mode, and do another scan to make sure there are no traces left. After completion of the second round, restart your PC again in normal mode and do another full scan and clean up. Restart for the 3rd time and you’re done.

If the problem still persists, you might have to backup all your important files in another drive and run a full format and clean installation of windows again.

Even the most advanced and expensive anti spyware programs miss out some of the adware and spyware simply because of their weak heuristic technology. They all rely on online definition updates to be aware of the potential threats. The best thing to do is go for a effective yet affordable anti spyware software and make sure you keep it updated at all times. Read my review on Adware Alert at: http://www.squidoo.com/reviewadwarealert

How about if a thief broke into your house and stole your tax information for the last ten years from a file cabinet in your den?

The scary thing is that unless you are one of the people who have setup a back system on their home PC you could be leaving yourself open to this happening any day.

What exactly is Online Data Back?

An online data backup service is a secure, private area of storage for your files and sensitive data online. It synchronizes with your computer and allows you to upload your data over a secure, encrypted connection to a computer used solely for storage and monitored by security professionals 24/7.This is the high tech equivalent of keeping important documents and items in a safe deposit box offline.

Some of the most popular online data backup services are Carbonite and Mozy.A Standard Mozy or Carbonite review will let you know that their services are well worth the money. Either will protect your data from dangerous software or hackers, as well as potential break downs or natural disasters.

Should I be using an Online Data backup Service?

Because you value your privacy. Because you want the peace of mind that comes with knowing that a team of professionals are keeping their watchful eyes on your valuable data. Because you don't want to take any chances with your personal information.

Data recovery is expensive and oftentimes ineffective. And why wait until after your data is lost to try to recover it? Being responsible means being proactive about protecting yourself from catastrophic data loss, and the only way to do that is to ensure that your data is backed up and protected with an online data backup service.

This is scary. Imagine setting up a webcam for only your friends and family to be able to see you while you talk on your web phone or chat with them. Then, this happens:

The case began when the victim noticed changes in her computer's behavior after giving it to Feigin for overnight repairs, the Gainesville Sun reported at the time. Every time she got near her laptop, the light on her webcam switched on.
Fed Blotter: New Charges Filed Against Alleged Cyber Peeping Tom | Threat Level from Wired.com

Feigin reportedly told police he'd pulled the same scam on eight or nine other women. A federal magistrate issued an arrest warrant for Feigin on September 23.
This simply reinforces a number of things:

Trust no one

Get a spyware blocker like Spyware Doctor or Spyware Nuker

Get a firewall

Block any and all ports you don't need

Finally, keep a close watch on whether your computer misbehaves

Any sign that your computer has changed is a warning that some spyware, virus, of other malware has infected your system. Most of the time, there is little damage. But sometimes, as in the case above of the cyber-Peeping Tom, the damage can be tremendous.

Just imagine that the victims had the web cams and computers in their bedrooms (not at all uncommon, especially with young adults or students) and only intended to be "watched" when they intended (fully dressed, for example)...and then, all of a sudden you're nude image is plastered all over the world on the Internet?

Crazy stuff.

I don't know about you, but I am especially picky when it comes to all my computer settings. If my hope page changes, or my file sort order changes in Explorer, or the default font changes in Word -- I know there's something amiss. And what's amiss is I've been infected with some sort of malware, also knows as adware or spyware.

I hate the stuff! The questions are: How do I get spyware, how do I remove it, and how do I keep it from getting on my system again?

There are dozens of spyware-related products on the market. Some are free, some you have to pay for. When all is considered, even the pay-for versions are cost-effective in terms of raising your productivity and killing spyware for very little cost (usually around $30).

To find the free anti-spyware tools, simply go to Google.com and search for "free spyware scan" and you'll find a bevy of products. But I'll cut to the chase.

Here are the Top Ten spyware removal tools. Check them out. Try one.
According to studies conducted by America Online it is believed that as many as eighty percent of people that use the computer have computers that are infected by spyware. Even more worrying is the fact that an estimated eighty-nine percent of computer users fail to realize that spyware is present on their systems and ninety-five percent of computer users have never consented to the installation of spyware.
Plays Havoc With Your System
Spyware has some very dangerous and unwanted relations, including adware, spybots as well as Trojans that can play havoc with your system unless you use preventive means such as spyware blockers. It is advisable that you make an effort and install a spyware blocker so that it can prevent spyware from being installed on your computer, and to also stop the spread of existing spyware on your system.
Protecting your system in real time and through manual scanning as well as removal of spyware, are the two main ways in which a spyware blocker works. There is a lot to be said in favor of using real-time spyware blockers because it is the best means by which to prevent spyware applications from installing them on your system.
If you choose to go the manual ways, a spyware blocker needs to be run by you in order to inspect the software installed on your computer and then to find and remove spyware--whenever detected.
It would be irresponsible of you to not install spyware blockers on your system and the fact is, that there is not much difficulty in locating an effective spyware blocker that can be downloaded over the internet.
Becoming aware of the desirable aspects of a good spyware blocker is to ensure that you install the best spyware blocker possible. It should be simple to use, and provides the complete solution against all forms of spyware at the very least; in addition, it should have different options to monitor your system for the presence of spyware and also come with the ability to be frequently updated.
Fortunately, it is quite simple to find online spyware pop-up blockers which are useful in preventing those annoying pop-ups from appearing and perhaps even spreading spyware on your system. You should not then hesitate in equipping and arming your system to get protection against spyware-- malicious and otherwise, as long as you can find a spyware blocker that is easy to install.
Spyware is the greatest threat to your privacy as well as to internet security and this threat is becoming worse by the day, unless you use preventive methods such as a spyware blocker. You have to do something right now on your PC but the screen is blank, meaning it's turned off. You curse under your breath. You're in for a long wait whilst Windows decides what it needs to do to get your computer to run. If you didn't know better, you'd think it had never done this before.
Just how do you make your computer boot faster?
It seems like the longer you own your computer, the more time it takes for it to boot up and start running. It's as though no-one at Microsoft thinks you'd ever want to switch your PC off in the first place.
The good news is that there are a few things you can do to speed up the time it takes your computer to boot up.
Windows checks anything that automatically runs as soon as you start your computer. All the essential stuff like Windows itself. And all the other things you've asked it to run. Windows Messenger. Apple's iTunes music program. Anti-virus (this is essential). Maybe a spyware checker. Skype or another VOIP program. The list goes on. Every time Windows boots up, it checks each and every one of these start-up programs.
It is possible to discover what these programs are. But you need to be a bit cautious - whilst you may not recognize a program by name, that doesn't mean you can safely remove it. Some of the services that run behind the scenes have quite obscure names that don't mean anything to you. But if you remove them, you'll be in trouble. If you're in any doubt about a start-up program, play safe and leave it be. It's not worth shaving off a few seconds on boot up only to have a PC that refuses to work at all. Unless you're brave, I'd suggest leaving start-up programs to your computer support person.
The next thing you can do is clean up the Windows registry. This is the part of Windows that holds all sorts of information about your computer. A lot of this is either needed or at least useful. Trouble is, every time you remove or delete a program it can leave debris in the registry. This causes your PC to slow down. Lots of PC problems have been traced to this old information laying around.
The good news is that you can fix this yourself using a purpose designed Registry checking program. This will scan through the Windows registry, checking for things that shouldn't be there. After the scan, you'll get a simple report and if you're happy to let it, the software will trot off and fix the reported errors. This is probably the simplest thing you can do to speed up your PC. I recommend this registry cleaner software - it's the one I personally use.
They build up from software and hardware that's installed, surfing the web, and viruses, adware, and spyware.

It's no where's close to being a perfect scenario but PC's have troubles to.The biggest issues you as a computer user will run into are slow down of start up as well as Windows in general, along with errors popping up and possible crashing.

Registry Cleaners - How they Work

After installing a Windows registry cleaner it completes an in depth scan of your entire windows registry system. During this scan it looks for potential registry key errors, out of date information, as well as empty registry keys.Exactly how does the cleaner do this? Well it knows what items are usually errors or old missing data and what registry keys are valid.

Once a complete scan is done you have the options of removing all the errors found or going through each item one at a time to ensure that what is found actually is indeed an error that needs to be removed or repaired.

The feature of reviewing each item found one at a time isn't something that can be found in every registry cleaner, so before making your purchase decision check out the program on a registry cleaner reviews site to ensure it supports the features you're looking for.By spending a few minutes researching and reading reviews you'll be sure to get the program with the features you expect.

What Performance Increase Will you See?

After a windows registry cleaner has gone through the entire process of scanning your windows registry, cleaning up your start up menu items, and any other scans the program offers you should experience several things depending on how severe your issues were to begin with.

The speed at which your computer starts up should improve for almost every user who runs a windows registry cleaner on their PC. On top of that, accessing files and programs should happen quicker, and any errors or inaccessible files/programs should work better.

Of course a Windows registry cleaner is not a one fix all program, but many items we experience on our computers can be traced back to registry errors.

There are several registry repair programs that are worth checking out.You can read more about a great tool to improve the performance of your PC in this registry mechanic review.

PC tools is a top rated PC utility developer and they have a very trusted brand name in the online marketplace.

Certainly, all the information technology that is at our disposal is used, but this doesn't necessarily help us. Staring a system off clean and requiring password access is usually the first step.

Then the programs that are needed for the business and the owner are uploaded, and these files are double checked to make sure they did not include any nasty secondary programs. An additional precaution is that any availability to the internet should be severely limited, as to prevent the downloading of harmful programs or connections that will bring additional problems.

While company email and networks are open to most workers, programs like internet messengers or online shared programs are not, which goes a long way in ensuring the productivity of the workforce. Truthfully, it is impossible to prevent employees from using office computers to chat or download files not related to office duties. Cyber industry's major pain is actually spyware and or adware, something that can cause major problems for your business.

Once the internet and computer industries began booming, spyware was not far behind them, the negative ramifications predictably following the positive ones. Sometimes negative actions become so popular that a large swell of people will choose to take part in these negative actions.

Though the person behind spyware may be a genius, they are also a traitor to all the victims, many of whom are unaware of its existence until it messes up their system. Spyware gathers information about a user without them knowing or consenting, and there is certainly nothing right with these actions. The tools used to accomplish this privacy invasion are, unfortunately, completely proliferating.

This software works by sending advertisements to pop up on your system, and material will be downloaded on the system whenever you try to close the ad or type anything in the box. This is a difficultly reality to get out of, and the best you can hope for is that the people responsible can be tracked down and made to stop their nefarious actions. Illicit programs and malware can come bundled with the legal programs and services of an entirely different company.

Though there are many adware spyware removal programs, their efficiency in removing adware or spyware is flimsy at best. You may find an adware spyware removal program that works, but you have a much greater chance of finding one of the dozens of con spyware removal programs that function instead as additional spyware waiting to be downloaded onto your system. Any adware spyware removal program that you have your sights are should be thoroughly researched, and once a keeper is found, that adware spyware removal program should be held on to with dear life, for they are rare specimens indeed.

If you haven’t, you must be very lucky. But if you are reading this article, I’m sure that your PC is suffering from Adware or Spyware. Spyware is simply the worst case scenario of Adware where your personal information is also leaked out. That is bad!

Adware simply installs itself into your PC and starts throwing up unwanted ads, popups and banners. If your computer is running weird, then it’s not the Adware. Much much worse. They are called spyware and malicious scripts. Your PC will go nuts with these things.

It usually gets into your machine when you install a free program like a shareware. Shareware programs are usually where you find these kinds of Adware. Sharewares aren't give away for free without a reason... The reason being that they can show you ads and banners while you are using the computer. It’s a clever marketing trick, but it’s not clever anymore. It’s just a pain. Of course if you had a real time security like Ad ware Alert, it usually detects these stuff and removes them.

Even some of the more popular softwares tend to install adware like Zango, AOL messenger, Zango, Gator, Weatherbug etc... This shows that even though Adware maybe legit, it’s not nice!

The plain dead simple way to avoid adware is to just stay away from these free softwares that ask to install toolbars and stuff. You should always be a little skeptic. You never get anything for free.

Yet, no matter how protective you maybe, few of them just get right through, and it can be close to impossible when trying to remove it. There are special security softwares for these cases that help remove all kinds of adware, spyware and malicious scripts.
