Maybe your Christmas spending took you over the top as well and you are looking for something inexpensive and yet you don't have anything in your cupboards because its been too cold to go out and get that kind of thing taken care of. Or maybe your material needs are actually not that bad and you just want a casserole dish full of yummy, tummy-filling goodness. In any scenario, my answer is enchiladas.

Now, before we get too far in I want to start off with a warning. These are not authentic. In fact, this was a quickly pulled together, not exactly from scratch meal. Nonetheless, eating them, you wouldn't have been able to tell.

I just noticed I had a pending post from months ago going through the comments section. I have a problem with having thoughts sometimes, which is to say I have the thought, I commit it to a draft post, then I forget about it and it gets folded into the default post order (in order of publication date). For instance, I have been meaning to post about that Bullshit Bulletproof Coffee propaganda (and how not factually based it is, going into the actual brew-chemistry, etc) for awhile but totally forgot about that draft item.

Sleeping at friends' for the night - I will be staying with my friends John and Kristin for the rest of the week. Beth moved out to Chicago and I am currently in-between housing. I knew that I wanted to write something about all of this but I'm not sure what. Instead of that I will post about food, since this is something of a food blog and all or something.

In anticipation of cooking for Beth soon, and with notes of admiration and appreciation of her love for many things pumpkin, I decided to kick out a pumpkin soup. Now this isn't a straight copy cat or even an iteration of the Chilitoaxilitlo Vegan Pumpkin Chili Recipe , but I would utterly be remiss if I didn't say they were siblings and cut from the same cloth or [insert other cliche]. That is, this is the healthier sibling.

Saying that out loud sounds insane. Yes, I could probably just say "instant upload is a helluva product."

I have been excited to see some incremental adjustments to instant upload (really, the whole Google platform over the past forty-eight hours). Still, there remain some serious usability items that are on my radar that I would love to see worked out to turn this from a simple back-up utility/feature of the Google toolkit into a multi-functional platform for storing, retrieving, and sharing images.

You guys can totally finish this, in addition to the awesomesauce you're already dousing this thing with so far today. Nailing these five suggestions wouldn't be a bunch of banners and crap-ads, but rather would amount to adding some decent code that will result in features that not only accomplish a task but make for a more informed user base, inculcates coherent expectations of usability, and pushes this software towards being a platform and not just an insular tool.

This gallon jug and flashlight may help you see in the dark.

Looks effective as all who's-whats.
Part 1: Vegan Curried Pumpkin Chili, aka el Chilitoaxilitlo

Part 2: Huffman's Chili and the Upper Arlington Fall Fest

To really get part one knocked out of the park, follow the advice from part two;

add refried beans with 45 minutes to go

add pinto beans with 25 minutes to go

I truly hope you enjoy. The Lady Beth and I just hit our one year mark and this is the chili that bound us. I wanted to share on behalf of all for whom pumpkin is some kind of love-potion.

Your pricing really went to hell.

Not supporting Linux out of the box with your downloader is another sad thing.

You guys seem to push crap box sets too much any more.

You used to deliver an amazing quality for the price paid; the deal where the big five labels or whatever really crushed your competitive edge in terms of pricing.

I stuck with you for eight years, countless overdrafts when my account renewed but the value was there so I stuck with it anyway.

It had a nice big messy complicated bundle of feelings I only this morning remembered.

I didn't participate in this years BaconCamp. At first I couldn't at all explain why. I love competitive cooking, and pushing myself, but it hasn't been coming to me as readily lately. My posts are fewer, and (I would imagine) less helpful to the world at large.

Yesterday I had an opportunity to finally force idle my processor.

Lifehacker has an article on creativity blocks. I don't think it has any particularly good advice for me today. Not because my creativity isn't blocked up. But because summoning it through reptitive and otherwise dolorous tedium isn't my baall of wax.

Went from Clintonville to South of 270, then to North of 270, and back home.

Can't believe I was able to get at all below 4 minutes after mile 35. They were barely sprints, but still. Got my first less-than-three minute mile today.Totally impressed that I held fourteen mph for three hours.

There were a handful of pauses and sit-downs and a stretch session at the northernmost point. The stretch session totally got me a fifth or sixth wind.

The southern stretch /while heading south/ was nice. Good back wind, decent traffic/light flow. The ride North on High from wherever the hell I was at was awful and grueling. Head wind, up hill, antagonistic cars who must never drive around bikes.

This ride was all about coconut water (Vita-Coco) and a Larabar (Carrot). I started off with zero food, and a pot of coffee in my belly. Had minimal food prior night (chips and nuts).

Weigh-in after was low, not good. Ate three-quarters of a pizza, ate some calcium-magnesium pills and went to bed after watching some Independence Day.

Chat with Ms. Beth;

(Don't bother clicking link, it's uninteresting outside of its URL; also, chat, like verbal communication is not subject to the full force of Grammar)

so subversive

Beth: haha

me: anyway, i left a bit of snarkery in the comments

ctrl+f "ellipsis"

Beth: hah. i snarked too.

i'm so mean.

I just can't appreciate a top-talent rock star ninja, probably because of my grammar, or maybe my boobs.

me: ha

after hes like "Name says it all. lolololol. I'm more about getting the job done and making money" i imagine him riffing on a double necked electric guitar, throwing his hair back over his shoulder and riding off on a black and electric blue dragon

Beth: Haha.

Blasting off from his mom's basement window into an Iron Maiden video.

me: sheets of lightning and choirs of big-boobed Daniel Craigs singing Cher's "Believe"

Man, I realized that snarky comments have a very short lifespan on HBR. I simply pointed out to the person who was criticizing the article that he used poor grammar. me: "An ellipsis is not an excuse for run-on sentences." Apparently, lame attempts to criticize an uninteresting article are considered constructive and on-topic (sad but usual), and deconstructing what commenters say through a reply that notes the critic's self-admitted bias is not.

Someone else was whining about grammar on the teevee news. Items like "me and Bob" (presumably, rather than "Bob & I/me"). I stepped in to inform them that citing examples in the form "[I don't like when they mess up] names such as; me and Bob..." is in poor grammar. I'm guessing my comment will be flagged and deleted here as well; it was "'such as' is replaced by a colon (':') to indicate a list".

I support all Grammar Police efforts on the world web internets. Even when they're uncalled-for, unfunny, not very bright, inconsistent, and when the policing effort is riddled with grammatical errors.

Perhaps it tastes like trolling to Harvard Business Review. But when someone gets up to (thinly conceal an attempt to publicise his company and) attest to having standards in hiring that revolve around not looking like a slob or making his company look unprofessional, I can get behind that.
