• Low grade right groin strain while bowling.  Based on early clinical signs the likely recovery time is approximately two weeks.

On the first day the talent search program was attended by (110) young Cricketers from the age group of U.14 to U.19, the Cricketers were from various Schools & represented their Districts in the Northern Provincial program. Cricketers identified with talent will continue to work under a close eye of the respective District Coach, while any Cricketers identified with extreme talent will be drafted to the National age group squads which are managed by the SLC  National Coaching department.

The following day a ‘Coach Education Program’ was conducted to all Cricket Coaches who are in the Coaching fraternity in the Northern Province, this program was was attended by (48) Coaches & was conducted successfully, other than the Cricketing area the teachings also included a subject on ‘Physiotherapy’ in the effort of sharing ones knowledge & making an awareness with regard to the importance of this area related to injury management of young Cricketers which is a common feature in today’s context.

SLC also linked up with the ‘Sri Lanka Schools Cricket Association’ in conducting a program for the Schools ’Masters In Charge’ involved in Cricket with regard to the duties one is expected to perform during his or her involvement, this program was attended by (35) participants.

The ‘Coach Education Unit’ of the SLC National Coaching Department conducted this program with the assistance of  ’Naveed Nawaz’ (U.19 National Coach), Upul Chandana (U.19 Fielding Coach), Piyal Wijetunga (National Spin Bowling Coach), Prabath Nissanka (U.19 Fast Bowling Coach), JC Jamage & Heshan De Mel (Coach Educators)

While the SLC Provincial & District Coaching network was utilized in organizing & conducting this two day program, the occasion was also graced by the Secretary of the ‘Jaffna’ District Cricket Association.

The ICC has announced the schedule of warm-up matches to be played in the lead-up to the ICC Champions Trophy 2013 to be staged at Cardiff Wales Stadium, Edgbaston and The Oval from 6 to 23 June.

The matches will be played from 30 May to 4 June at the three tournament venues. In line with previous ICC events, none of these matches will carry official ODI status.

On 30 May, 2002 winner Sri Lanka will take on Pakistan in a day/night fixture at Edgbaston that will start at 1300 (UK time). This will be the first of the four warm-up matches, which will be televised live by STAR Sports, ICC’s host broadcaster and global broadcast partner.

On 1 June, India and Sri Lanka go head to head at Edgbaston in a day fixture that will start at 1030 (UK time) and will be televised live by STAR Sports. On the same day at Cardiff, defending champion Australia will take on 2004 winner West Indies in a day/night match that will start at 1300 (UK time).

On 3 June, South Africa and Pakistan will lock horns at The Oval in a day match that will start at 1030 and will be televised by STAR Sports.

On 4 June, Sri Lanka will square off against the West Indies at Edgbaston, and Australia will take on India. Both the matches will start at 1030 (UK time) while the Australia-India match will be televised live by STAR Sports.

In addition to the warm-up match, there will be captains’ pre-tournament media conferences. The schedule of these news conferences will be announced in due course.

Further to the several news items being circulated regarding the purchase of 2 Power Generators, Sri Lanka Cricket would like to state that in 2011 SLC purchased 2 Power Generators (1250 kva) at a cost of Rs. 61.8 million to operate Flood Light Systems of the 3 venues of the 2011 world cup.

When Sri Lanka Cricket was invited to host the 2011 ICC World Cup in Sri Lanka, it was mandatory to have high powered generators for flood lights. SLC could not find the necessary generators in Sri Lanka & hiring the said generators from a foreign country was not feasible hence after consultation with the General Manager of CEB, SLC discussed the matter with the Minister of Power & Energy and the Minister of Sports and SLC were given the approval to purchase the 2 Generators as CEB was having financial constrains & was not in a position to purchase the said generators .

CEB assured the SLC to buyback the 2 generators in 1 year. The 2 Generators were purchased through CEB and it was to meet the ICC stipulated mandatory requirement of providing uninterrupted power supply for all the cricket matches .

Subsequently the 2 generators were handed over to CEB subject to repayment of the purchasing cost to SLC.  The agreement between SLC & CEB was signed to set off the outstanding payment & there is no outstanding payment from SLC to CEB on the above matter.
