Also included in v1.1 is the Hindi translation by Ashish Jha.

The update was submitted to the WP theme directory on 12th July, but looks like it will take some time for the new version of the theme to be reviewed and the update to appear. Till then, the latest version of the theme can be downloaded from the F2 WP theme home page.

Problems using the plugin in WordPress 3.0 multi-site set up is addressed. The plugin is now compatible with multi-site functionality.

Tamil translation has been updated.

I request updates from translators for other language files too. A few new strings added in 1.4 and a few strings have become obsolete.

If you haven’t tested (or tasted) the menu management system already, you can find it under ‘Appearance’ -> ‘Menus’. From there, it’s very intuitive, just create your menu select the pages or categories or custom links into the menu, rearrange the items in any order you want to. You can even make an item ‘sub-item’ to the item above by dragging it to the left. You can define your own ‘Navigation Label’ (the link text) and ‘Title Attribute’ (the tool-tip text that appears when you hover over the link). The possibilities are endless. I mean, this is awesome!!!

Here’s an example, the horizontal menu just below the header of this website (click on the image for a larger version).

If you look closely at the first screenshot you will find that in addition to the ‘Horizontal Menu’, I have defined two more menus ‘WordPress Themes’ and ‘WordPress Plugins’. I use these menus in the sidebar. Yes, you can use the custom menus in the sidebar too! Just create additional menus, add the ‘Custom Menu’ widget to the sidebar and choose your additional menu. Some users of the Flexi Pages Widget will find this interesting.

My themes will work in WP 3.0 without any problem, though I’m yet to make the themes’ header menus compatible with the new custom menu system. Updates coming soon. The latest versions of my plugins too will work fine with the new WP version. As far as I have tested, there haven’t been a problem, please do let me know if you encounter any.

What’s new?

• Sequential refresh: The random quote widget need not be that random after all. You can set it such that the quotes are rotated sequentially, in the order added, latest first.
• Automatic refresh: The user don’t have to click on the ‘Next quote’ link to get a new quote. The plugin can do it automatically. You just have to turn on the ‘Auto refresh’ option and set a time interval in the widget options. A word of warning though, it’s not advisable to turn on this feature in traffic heavy websites.
• ‘Quotes Collection‘ admin panel is now listed as a first-level menu from being a sub-menu under ‘Tools’. Just look below the ‘Settings’ menu in your admin area.
• 1.4 has other minor fixes, changes and improvements

This break is necessary for me. Over the past few months, I’ve been losing interest in WP development and it’s reflected in the non-maintenance of this website and my themes/plugins. Web development, and playing with WP themes and plugins started as a hobby for me, but now it has become some kind of obligation. I need this break in order to give myself a chance of getting back the motivation and drive for development.
