Mark Pauline tested the Spine Robot cinderblock hurling capability. Mark says, “Best throw was about 15-17 ft.” Video shot from a small drone. Distance of throw 16ft on the 3rd try. Standard Cinder block. Boston Dynamics’ Big Dog was only getting about 10-13 ft.

Mark Pauline did some testing for a new camera platform SRL will be using at shows in the future. Using a Hero3 and a drone from DJI-Innovations. This setup will be used at this Thursday’s (March 7 2013) Robot Night at the Cal Academy.

Last week’s SRL show at the Extreme Futurist Festival was a success! Aside from the Sparkshooter awaiting resuscitation with new capacitors, the Motoman left behind, and one doggie doo pole knocked over by the Inchworm, no property, humans or animals were hurt (by SRL) in the process! All the machines ran flawlessly and the Spine Robot debuted as a mobile machine, there was enough fire, diesel fog, and smoked pig to go around.

SRL is seeking assistance to find locations and conduct site setup for machine performances in the SF bay area.

We are looking for a team to:

Find suitable locations for local SRL shows ranging from medium (20 tons of robots) to large (60 tons of robots).
Determine what if any permits are required and obtain them.
