It was amazing that after all the podcast listening I have done, the thought never came to me earlier that we should do this. I know Foxy and I thought about making a panel for con long before doing this. We even considered using it as a way to teach members of our anime club, which now consists mainly of our cast. After listening to an episode of Gundamn@MAHQ (good people), I realized "If these guys can do it, why can't we?" So, after a random instant message, we were on our way to making our craptacular show. I want to that thank everyone involved in the making of this podcast. You guys are all great friends for, not only the support, but just being yourselves and it shows on the podcast. Throughout the year, there have been times where I wanted just to stop doing this. Random crashes, losing data, lack of notes, lack of sleep, lack of time were just a few things that made me nearly collapse. But, you roll with the punches. All of it was a learning experience. The podcast, in some ways, has only started to evolve and it will continue to do so. As a great man once said: We are not there yet. Evolution is slow, smallpox is fast. The last people I want to thank are the fans, whoever you are. In some ways, I am still thinking that my friends are just using proxy servers to visit the site at work and are redownloading episodes on multiple computers. We have, however, gotten emails from fans saying that we actually entertain them. Trust me, that beats getting 100 downloads any day. We don't have a voice mail line (Yet.) or a forum (Doubt it. Here is a cheap substitute.). So by emailing us, it allows me to know there are real people behind those numbers. I guess as a fan of other podcasts, and not wanting to voice an opinion on their shows, I can see most of you are coming from. But, now I see from the other side. Without an audience, we are just talking to ourselves. Actually, that is what we normally do anyway, so that is not a legitimate excuse. That is all we do really. We are giving you the opportunity to listen to a bunch of interesting people talk about whatever comes to our heads. With all that praising we have been giving Yoko Kanno throughout all of our episodes, it’s amazing we didn’t go through her entire biography. We ended up only saying 3 minutes worth of information. I spent more time looking for a song that best defines her. Realistically, that is an impossible mission. Her range is very disgusting. But hey there was mech that I sure they were going to use a lot… I will continue to say that JAM Project can make anything epic. The main point of them is to get people in the right mindset to watch the actual show. Now, some of them can say a lot, too much, or nothing at all. Sometimes, they just tell a complete lie. I think the ones that work are the ones that have the sequence tell you the story before the show starts proper. Now, most robot and shounen shows do that for you. Mech shows, especially older ones, have the songs dedicated to explaining the mech, characters, villains, etc. A good example is GaoGaiGar. Now, the opening does not have to tell you everything. The opening for Evangelion dropped all kinds of hints as to everything related to the show, another example is the opening for Jigoku Shoujo Futakomori. If you look, you can see the back-story of some characters and how their lives now center around this girl, who clearly is alone in the crowd. It even hints to some of the different stories involved in the season. Sometimes shows want to be creative as means to attract people to their show. Now, I will admit that the first opening of Bleach got me very interested since I really wanted to figure out what the hell that show was about. They don’t do that as often anymore now in Bleach. There was this one show that looked like a lot of fun. It had a very upbeat song, cute characters and it looked funny. I was wrong. Anyway here is how we wrote our panel suggestion: Please write 4-5 sentences explaining why you feel people would want to see your panel: People sometimes don’t begin to watch an anime or read a manga because they feel the large number of chapters or episodes is daunting and they’re not sure if it will be worth investing all of that time. We’re going to help them make that decision by showing them how the plot unfolds later down the road. We would also be useful to those that have already started a manga or anime and they don’t like the direction it’s headed in. In short we’ll be a support group for those people who like to exchange and hear spoilers. Explain why you are qualified to host this panel: Between the three of us we have watched a lot of anime and read a lot of manga and we have experienced the crushing disappointment of a show/manga that starts off well only to end in failure. We also host a spoiler-filled anime podcast where we review and dismantle these subjects. Would anyone else accept that as a panel? You can thank Foxy for being bored at work and writing that. Why is it that we are always wrong when we start talking about Power Rangers? Honestly, it never works out in the end and we always end up looking stupid. Long story short: Billy is a quitter. And they later had the audacity to make me think he might end up being the Gold Ranger. F that alien. Though, it was cool when Jason became the Gold Ranger for a small time. I really didn’t get a chance to make this point on the podcast, but I will say it now. Though Power Rangers was a major influence on me getting into tokusatsu, sadly I would have to say Superhuman Samurai Syber-Squad was way up there. I think it was a precursor to me finding what I would consider to be the one show that taught me about life, Boy Meets World. As stupid as that sounds, had it not been for me recognizing Matthew Lawrence on a rerun of Boy Meets World, I would have never gotten to see such a wonderful show. Really, Eric was the whole show. Plus, the first two seasons where not the best. Damn that show got restructured so many times. It was about Cory for most of the time. Then, once he got to high school, Eric was suddenly a complete idiot. Most of the magic came from him. Damn it now I really want to watch this show. Is the whole show on DVD yet? (17:24-29:17) Segment (A bit of ill informed Kamen Rider knowledge) I’m sure I missed a bunch of stuff about Kamen Rider history. I’m sure I’m going to be wrong on most of the stuff related to Shotaro Ishinomori or just everything in this segment. Really, not much else I can say since it really is a kid’s show about guy riding a motorcycle jump kicking people in rubber suits. Well, now you can just skip this part of the episode. This one is a compilation of the showa Riders including the ones from the remake movies. Here is a small compilation of various henshin sequences from the Heisei era riders up until now. We recorded our Afro Samurai: Resurrection review a while back, but I thought it would be nice if we could combine it with a discussion we didn’t get to finish. I think I should have just released it alone. Mainly due to me not knowing what was going to happen when tried to record the second part. I had just got a new laptop that I wanted to upgrade from Vista to XP and ended up not having the drivers for anything. Most of the host couldn’t show up to record. The audio for part of the show was terrible. It was a mess. It’s fine now by the way. Yeah, I know I am repeating the same thing that is being said by people who thinks the show ended the way it did. I actually have a lot more to say on this subject, but since no one decided to help me out in the episode, I never got to go deeper on some things. Things like: The Code Transfer Theory C.C.'s Name Nunnally's Ability (Or what was told on the "fake" cellphone only site.) Creator Interviews I may go back to this some other time. If you want to comment on some of these subjects you can email us or leave a comment. Let me be honest for a second. This show may be great, but it still has it's flaws. Whatever you think is the answer for you, that is o.k. I think that you have to be willing to accept that there is an answer, especially if it is coming from the creator's mouth. Regardless of how you want to interpret the interview, I think what matters is the question that was asked. Do you consider this a good end or a bad end? I have been willing to see this from all sides as far how people think the story ended. I read a bunch of stuff on how he could be alive; however, some of it tends to contradict what they are saying and is not really written in a proper manner. I thought it would be best for me to say what I felt on here that way I don't have to argue with an eighteen year old kid, on a forum, who thinks that the girl he imagines having sex with should end up with the guy he imagines himself to be. You have to realize that the show is over. Lelouch's story is over. You have to move on with your lives and watch another show. We have suggested plenty of things to you, so you won't have to worry about running out of shows to watch. This show has managed to entertain me the entire way. It ended up becoming more then I expected. It will be really hard to replicate what this show did for a while. If they decide to make more related material, I am up for it. Heck, if they retcon the ending, I wouldn't care. That is why I watch all the different variations of Evangelion. If they want to put a twist on the same show, go right ahead, as long as it is entertaining. Of course, that's just my opinion. I could be wrong. As usual, the planning for this episode was not done was well as I hoped, but we actually sounded very credible. There are no real notes for this episode since most of what we talked about did center upon a certain show. However there are some links to some site we mentioned during the show. So I guess you can consider those show notes then. I decided to put some time stamps. That way you can just skip to parts of the show that are relevant to today’s youth. I ended up record this conversation without letting everyone else know about it. We have a quick discussion about Shinsen-Subs then Edward K. By the way, sorry yaoi fangirls, we say mean things. We also talked about how you can save money when eating fast food. All of this, while having sound of crumbling paper in the background. Rain’s magic stick is also mentioned. (Magic stiiiiiiiiiiiiiiick) (17:30- 35:00) Discussion (Fan ignorance and nostalgia, plus Batman) We hold a mirror to ourselves to see what we have become. I want to state this right now. We are not historians of anime. Though people may have said that I am expert on anime, I do not consider myself that. I can say the same for the other hosts. I could point you to other people that consider themselves experts, but I think that we have honest opinions and we are at least slightly informative. Questions were asked. Now the people how are not fansubbers and are still complaining: SHUT UP! They are doing this for free. They are spending their time, energy, and brain power to allow you to understand a show that you are watching on YouTube, because you cannot afford an external hard drive.
