There are two ways of lost according to Jesus? Younger brothers who are so bad, and older brothers who think they are so good? How do we break out of our particular brand of lostness and come into a true relationship with the Father? O Brother Where Art Thou:
Older brother “lostness” may be the worst “lostness” because it is deceptively sneaky. It looks good on the outside but on the inside the heart is filled with self righteousness, pride and therefore empty of joy and love.

About the Series
Lost + Found, Based on the Parable of the Prodigal Son (Luke 15)

We often view this parable through eyes of the wayward son, but it is much more.
• It is actually a plea to the elder sons to open their hearts and realize their own spiritual need.
• It is about community and the type of community we should be come. Why so many people don’t like church is b/c of older brothers.
• It is about two paths of life for fulfillment – self discovery or moral conformity neither of which Jesus endorsed.
• It is about redefining who is really lost? What does it mean to be lost?
• It is about grace all the way around – for sinners who are wayward, and church people who really miss the point. WE must find grace or we will miss it.

Habits for the Heart – You can’t be a disciple without discipline. Following Jesus is not about just checking off a “to do” list,” but it is about developing some holy habits that will help you walk in an authentic relationship with Jesus. In this sermon, David gives a vision of discipleship by mentioning many of the habits that disciples are called to engage in – habits for your heart.

Behind our fear, there is often a sense that we are losing control.  Fear throws the question “What if” at us?  What if I lose my job?  What if I get a bad diagnosis?  What if  often taps into our fear of losing control.  We often make the mistake and think that if life spins out of control, and we feel out of control, then God must be out of control as well.  There is a God who is bigger than our “What Ifs” and he wants to help us break free!

The End of Job? – There were times where Job thought his suffering would be the very end of him.  He wanted to die.  He wished he had never been born.  Perhaps you too have felt moments of despair when you felt your suffering would be your end.  The end of Job however is not his suffering.  The end of Job is his redemption and restoration.  The end of Job holds out great promise for the sufferer.  Your suffering doesn’t have to be your end.
