Dollhouse DVD Release Date and Cover Images

There’s good news for Joss Whedon fans, which means good news for us! We reported earlier about the release date for the Dollhouse season 2 DVD and Blu-ray but now we have even more information.

Dollhouse season 2 on DVD

Dollhouse may have had a bumpy, short ride – but it was fun. The collection isn’t complete until you have season 2. And now there’s more goodies to rejoice about.

All 13 (unlucky number, oy!) of the Dollhouse episodes will be packaged along with a limited edition, exclusive comic book and bonus audio commentary by series creator Joss Whedon and series writers Jed Whedon and Maurissa Tancharoen.

Additional DVD and Blu-ray features, according to the press release, will be “a retrospective with Joss Whedon and cast roundtable about the series. A gag reel and deleted scenes from top episodes are also included.”

Dollhouse season 2 has a release date of Oct. 12, 2010. It will be released by Fox Home Entertainment.

Mad Men Public Relations Review

So, it’s time to finally really digest the season premiere of Mad Men, “Public Relations.”

Three Things We Liked:

Roger Sterling is still a jerk. We’re glad he hasn’t changed in an episode with so much change. And he still has the best witty one-liner’s.

The time warp of going ahead to Thanksgiving of 1964 was fun, and it didn’t make us go through the drudgery of Betty and Don’s divorce proceedings.

Joan is back with the gang, and we smile every time we see her! She’s got her own office!

Three Things We Didn’t Like

Betty and Henry are already married – we wanted to see how Betty would plan her second wedding! After all, she went all-out in decorating her living room. Betty with a wedding planner would be as fun as Charlotte Yorke (Sex and the City) with hers.

Planning that ham fiasco was morally wrong, even if it was funny. Peggy should have been smarter about this.

Don paid a prostitute – couldn’t he find anyone willing to sleep with him for free?

Pretty Little Liars “Please, Do Talk About Me When I’m Gone” aired this week and gave us tons to talk about.

Jenna IS a Jerk

Jenna is proving to be creepier and more manipulative than we thought. She told Spencer that Alison was done with her (of course, Alison told Jenna Spencer is the one who threw the stink bomb…) and threatens the girls about spilling the beans at Alison’s memorial.

Alison’s Control Freak Brother

Alison’s big brother, Jason, came back more “polished” and that surprises people. He all but tells Spencer that he thinks she killed Alison.

Poor Spencer!

Despite everyone blaming Spencer for things (and her friends never bothered to set the story right to Alison’s brother) she did get a perk in the way of her sister’s ex-fiancee. The new boyfriend was no where to be seen in this episode.

Tom Sawyer

Spencer was also the recipient of a text message from “A” in this episode, which said, “Do it right, I’ll be watching, just like Tom Sawyer. –A.” Creepy. Because the memorial was held indoors, does that mean we saw “A” in that multi-purpose room? Quick, to the DVR!

Double-date Disaster

Hanna had convinced Aria to go on a double-date with Sean and Noel (a former crush of Aria’s) but due to Aria’s pining away for Ezra Fitz she was unable to seem psyched. Noel seems like a nice guy, although Sean is clearly a jerk and we’re just waiting for the moment Hanna breaks up with him for yearbook guy (Lucas).

Lucas and eBay to the Rescue

Hanna and her mother needed some money, so Hanna had Lucas help her (basically doing it all, let’s be honest) sell some of her designer bags. The shot of the money that Hanna made from selling her bags showed three 20 dollar bills, with other bills hidden. But considering the labels of these bags, the pile probably should have been larger. Why were they afraid to show that Hanna had made more money?

Emily and Maya

Emily’s relationship with Maya was progressing nicely, but with news that Emily’s Dad is coming home – we sense danger for it. Which is too bad. Although, it’s hard to suspend disability that Bianca Lawson as Maya is really a teenager. She played a high school student over ten years ago on Dawson’s Creek! So if you think Maya seems wise and worldly – that’s why.

Modern Family has a “For Your Consideration” ad in Variety which says, “If Modern Family wins the Emmy for Outstanding Comedy, Sofia Vergara will run naked down Sunset Blvd.”

But, then there is a little astrick that notes “cast member may change without notice.” If Modern Family does win the Emmy for Outstanding Comedy, you might be seeing a very naked Ed O’Neil on Sunset.

Polina Volchek performs to ‘What Sound’ on America’s Got Talent

Though one judge found her boring, we found Polina Volcheck to be an outstanding act on Tuesday night’s America’s Got Talent episode.

Polina Volchek performed on America’s Got Talent on Tuesday night, using a red rope from her bag of tricks. Painted white and looking mysteriously eerie, Volcheck twisted and contorted her body in amazing forms. She was X’d out by Morgan, who found her “boring.” But Sharon said she’d watch her for a much longer time, and understood the artistry in every movement.

The song Volcheck moved to was “What Sound” by Lamb.

This video shows the same performance as was on Tuesday nights show.

The Strange Familiar Disappoints Judges on America’s Got Talent

America’s Got Talent actually does have talented acts. Who knew? We dipped our toe into the show’s reservoir to catch a couple performances and see what perked some interest. If you recall, we did not like Sandie and Kaya.

The Strange Familiar performed “Time After Time” on America’s Got Talent. It didn’t start off great to our ears, but it did get better. It’s obvious to us that their vocalist has extreme talent.

Sharon said, “I’m not sure, I have to be brutally honest with you. I adore your voice. But I didn’t like the song choice. I love the song… but I don’t think you did justice to yourself. … It just didn’t suit your voice.”

Howie said, “You’re looking for the Wow factor. And you were good. But it wasn’t “wow”. The strange thing was, it just was so familiar.”

Morgan said, “I thought 20 seconds were great, and the rest of it was mediocre. Your whole wardrobe is completely wrong. This looks like something from the mid 80’s. .. I would honestly get rid of the band. You are a solo artist.”

Kaya and Sadie promote Erotica on America’s Got Talent

Although America’s Got Talent is a family show, one of the most popular acts verges on pornographic.

The duo of Kaya and Sadie perplex us. They are one of the most popular acts on America’s Got Talent this season, and considered to be one of the main contenders. Rather than be embarrassed about promoting this act, the judges love up on it.

Tonight’s performance felt grossly over-sexualized and far too erotic for network TV (especially when networks won’t air the much tamer Lane Bryant commercials.) The camera zoomed in on fleshy bits, and the judges made remarks about how “I’m married so I can’t say too much… ” or “he’s hypnotized!” Sex sells, but is this America’s Got Sex or America’s Got Talent? Does sex or sexual influence truly equate with talent?

The judges remarks about tonight’s performance:

Howie proclaimed, “You’re going to Hollywood! I just…watch. When you bend backwards…”

Morgan said, “I found both your bellies extremely charming tonight.”

Sharon stated, “I thought that it was fantastic. Very entertaining.”

Jumping up and down while their breasts bounced in a lewd fashion (not to mention looking badly tanned with heaps of body glitter) we have to ask ourselves, is this really America’s true talent?

No doubt, there is a talent and art to belly dancing. But these two don’t seem to do it well. There is no cultural respect you can siphon from their performance. They act more like glorified strippers than bellydancers. Rather than looking like a fluid partnership, the few second lag on the second, less-skilled dancer (who is also much taller) catches the attention and sticks out like a proverbial sore thumb.

Are we screwed, America?

Lee Pace heading to Twilight’s Breaking Dawn?

One of our beloved TV faces might be heading into the Twilight saga. Not as a new fan, but as part of the next movie- Breaking Dawn.

Though Pushing Daisies was canceled, it was a beloved show. As was the (also canceled) Wonderfalls. Actor Lee Pace was on both shows, and has become equally beloved. You might have also seen him in a bit part of When in Rome as Kristen Bell’s jerk ex-boyfriend, or as the brother to Sarah Michelle Gellar’s devoted husband in Possession. (Both movies are sadly skippable.)

And now…. you might see him as Edward’s friend, Garrett, in Breaking Dawn. E! news is reporting that Lee Pace is very close to making the role his.

While it might mean great things for his career, it’s hard not to want to keep him from this Twilight circus. But we do know he can look tough…

Betty White moving in with the Desperate Housewives?!

Those Desperate Housewives might be getting a new neighbor on Wisteria Lane. And here we thought that show was taking its last lap with the 7th season. Maybe they need something to revive it. Something in the form of… Betty White?

Marc Cherry, creator of Desperate Housewives, gave a press conference where OK! magazine reports he said he’d loved to have White on the show. “I would love to have Betty [White] on the show.” He continued, “She’s a saucy, sexy gal and she’s a blast, and it’s something that would make my heart happy if I could do that with her.”

If you’re wondering if Cherry is just a big Betty fan – he actually produced The Golden Girls.

But will Cherry get a chance? He knows how busy she is! “She’s constantly employed. I’m trying to just see if I can get her for dinner. She works harder than any of us.”

Ideally, he would have gotten Estelle Getty, Bea Arthur and Rue McLanahan all on the show. “I remember thinking I’ve got to get them on the show and of course, time does what it does and now only Betty’s left,” Cherry said.
