Double Sided Fabric

I've been holding onto this piece of fabric Trish sent me for awhile now. I simply didn't know what to make with it since the back has a pattern too. I couldn't use it in quilt or pillow because then the back would be hidden.
I decided to go ahead and make a little pencil pouch without fabric for the lining and am really pleased with the outcome.

It does have raw edges on the inside but honestly you don't even notice them since they are in the ends.

I couldn't choose which ones I wanted to post so you get them all. I have been busy packing up fabric all day and am really too tired to blog. I'll show you what I have been dealing with tomorrow...be afraid...........

P.S. I think my comments are fixed now. I had to change from Yahoo mail to Gmail so I will have to change my contact page everywhere which is a pain. I am thinking of making some adjustments here anyway though. I need to add some people to my blog list since something happened to my reader and I can no longer get into it. I am having serious technical issues lately.

Japanese Laptop Sleeve

This has probably been my favorite project as of late.

I used a lot of my Japanese scraps and made a patchwork laptop sleeve that I absolutely love.

Sure not all the corners match but that's inevitable when you are using different sized scrap squares.
I just loved all the little prints featured and am even thinking of making a throw like this.

I think the only part of this project I didn't enjoy was the actual quilting part. I seem to have a problem quilting things. It hurts my back and I just get bored halfway through the process. This is probably why I only have 2 completed quilts and 5 tops laying around right now.

So there it is my quilted laptop sleeve in Japanese prints. Too bad this one was commissioned for someone else. I really wanted to keep it for me. I knew I should have bought more Japanese fabrics when I could. Now with this house building going on my fabric sprees are over for awhile. I feel like I am in fabric rehab. :(

House Update

The dry wall is going up today. I am ready to move and set up my sewing room again. I am tired of living out of boxes and bins. We started this project in May....MAY... and here it is basically November and we don't even have our front door put on the house

I have decided to join in National Blog Posting Month (NaBloPoMo) to distract me from the stress.

I am really going to try doing a post every day for the month of November. Even if it is just a photo. I think it will help me learn more about my camera plus motivate me to actually create things to blog about. I've been needing that extra push to actually complete things. Maybe I'll actually finish my Good Folks quilt before Christmas with this.......

MOO Promo Business Cards

YAY!

My MOO business cards have finally arrived. They were the free promo ones so there is an advertisement bar on the bottom of each card.

I am really glad MOO offered these to people though so I can try out different photos to see which ones work best before placing a regular order.

The photos of past & present blog banners are my favorites.

The only card featuring people I really liked was the one with my brother in it. The kids were moving around too much so their photos were not that great to begin with. I will probably be sticking these in swap and giveaway packages and order some without the MOO ad when I reopen my shop.

I am off to a party tonight that's an hour away but hopefully tomorrow I can get something creative done. Trish (no blog) sent me a really great package including an adorable Japanese craft book for childrens bags so I'll try and take some photos of that too sometime soon.

Hope everyone has a good weekend. Typepad people are still working on my comments being sent to my email so if you need a response to something urgent you can email me.
Oh and I'll be doing a scrap bag giveaway in a week or two. If you can use small pieces of fabric for patchwork or decoupage please come back in a couple weeks and enter.

Sew Evil Homestyle Pouch

Hey everyone! First just wanted to say thanks to everyone that visited my Halloween party and left comments. Some of them had me laughing out loud. :) Typepad for some reason isn't emailing me my comments so I will get back to everyone as soon as I can get that fixed.

It's back to the usual pink fabric projects here now.
My orange and black photos will go into hiding until next year.

This pouch was borderline torture to create.
I love the looks of the curved tops in Sew Sunny Homestyle but for some reason I could not get the zipper ends to match up when sewing the sides together.

The bad thing about this is that I have a bunch more already cut out and I'm not sure what I am going to do with those pieces. I really am not inclined to actually make another one of these pouches anytime in the near future but don't want to leave this lovely fabric sitting around.

I may just cut them into small pieces for something patchwork

I'll have to think about it while I am taking art classes, and trying to learn more about my camera.

Sometimes I wish I didn't have so many hobbies , there isn't enough time in a day to do it all.
