I just realized this is my first blog post in 2024. That may be because I have been busy, and if you subscribe to my newsletter, I have been updating you there too (so please do subscribe). The above image can take you there too. Before all these platforms, I started this blog, and now there are so many to keep up with, so forgive me for missing this spot. I was here a lot in 2023 with the release of my book, which is a year from its pub date—wow!

Interestingly, I looked at my stats, and monthly views are up from last year even without posting. That's amazing! I guess you’re finding out about me—only took 20 years, lol!

As I am writing this and sharing my newsletter posts with you, part of me is thinking out loud about whether I need to merge the world of this blog with the face of that newsletter. I will ponder that for a bit and get back to you on that one. However, if you are updating things on other platforms and have neglected another place for some time, it might mean you need a change. And boy, is change hard for this mama.

Recently, I've found myself delving into the depths of my history while also being fully present in the current moment. The process of writing my book, "Embracing The Calm In The Chaos," has transported me back to my past journals, my childhood memories, and the origins of my journey in establishing my brand. It's taken me through the hustle, and the grind, and rekindled my passion for fashion and the inspirations that have guided me along the way. After dedicating more than 23 years to this journey, it's easy to lose sight of where it all began. That's why I'm inviting you to revisit the roots of my affection for Fashion and Styles, as well as the Muses that have fueled my creative path.

Kate Moss and Johnny Depp were one of the most iconic couples of the 1990s, and their fashion sense was just as influential. Moss's style was characterized by its simplicity and effortlessly cool, while Depp's was more edgy and rebellious.

Kate Moss

Denim: Moss loved denim in all its forms, from ripped jeans to miniskirts.
Slip dresses: She also wore a lot of slip dresses, often in black or white.
T-shirts: Moss was never afraid to rock a simple t-shirt, often with a slogan or logo.
Leather: She also loved leather, and often wore leather jackets, pants, and skirts.
Accessories: Moss's accessories were often just as important as her clothes, and she loved to wear big sunglasses, statement necklaces, and chunky jewelry.

Johnny Depp

Black: Depp's go-to color was black, and he often wore all-black ensembles.
T-shirts: Like Moss, Depp loved t-shirts, and he often wore them with jeans or leather pants.
Jackets: He also loved jackets, and often wore denim jackets, leather jackets, or bomber jackets.
Jewelry: Depp also loved jewelry, and he often wore necklaces, rings, and bracelets.
Hair: Depp's signature look was his long, dark hair, which he often wore in a ponytail or braid.

Together, Moss and Depp's style was both iconic and influential. They helped to define the fashion of the 1990s, and their looks are still copied by people today.

Here are some of their most iconic fashion moments together:

At the 1995 Met Gala, Moss wore a simple black slip dress with a beaded choker and Depp wore a black suit with a leather jacket.

At the 1998 Cannes Film Festival, Moss wore a black miniskirt and a white tank top with a blazer, and Depp wore a black suit with a white t-shirt.

I sat in conversation with my dear friends and collaborators Sophie Elgort (photographer, director, artist, and founder of Click House New York, Dana Pollack (CEO and founder of Dana's Bakery), Pamela Pekerman (founder of Hustle Like A Mom), and Katya Libin (co-founder and board member of Hey Mama). We spoke about my new book and I interviewed them on how they Embrace the highs and lows of their journey. The panel was impactful and all the guests were so grateful for the conversation. I also started off with a personal story that is not included in the book. Those are the bonus moments when you come to my events :). I also brought up a surprise guest and friend Meaghan Murphy with surprise interview questions that she pulled off of Chat GPT yes I had to infuse AI into my panel you know me. We had a blast. Thank you again to everyone who made it out. It felt like a Birthday celebration indeed and thank you to my incredible panel.

Flew into Chicago May 4th, with my son and husband. I felt the energy of #MayThe4thbewithyou. It is always a lot to fly on the same day you are having a book tour event for your own book. But, I knew the energy would wake me up seeing my childhood friends, college friends, family, friends of friends, fans, and my co-host of the evening and best friend Amy Ankin.

I want to also shout out to my sister who has been there for me at every big event I have been on since I started my tour. She was not supposed to be there for this event but she surprised me and let’s just say I am a lucky lucky sister. Thank you!

As we drove up to the @the_book_stall which has been an Independent bookselling institution in Chicago’s North Shore for 75+ years and woman-owned I got chills up my spine.

Dylan jumped out of the car and ran into the store. I walked outside the store and screamed internally. Then we were greeted by Leah who coordinated the evening and invited me to have my book event there and she showed us the windows!

There I was with my father, husband, and son. We were all so excited to see my book gracing this famous book store establishment’s windows! It brought me back to the time which I shared with Ami in our talk that night when colette put my brand in the windows of their store right next to GUCCI.

This book tour, as I have shared, has been a true dream and a deep gift in my life. It is a celebration of my book around the world and on these stops, I get to see my community and celebrate with dear friends and family too.

Women in Web 3, Gaming & NFT NYC

If you have been following me for some time you know that I love to disrupt the fashion space. Perhaps why I was asked to be on the Disrupter Panel back in 2012 moderated by Vanessa Friedman see here.

I speak about the evolution of being part of the gaming world in my book #EMBRACINGTHECALMINTHECHAOS which I have been part of with my brand over the past decade. From Gaming to Web 1, Web 2, and now Web 3 it is all about COMMUNITY to me. And I love supporting all artists especially Women making changes from gaming to Web 3.

I partnered with 12 women artists to create an NFT collaboration, called

"BOY MEETS GIRL MEETS ARTIST MEETS ARTIST" available on Foundation.

And for my book release, we offered an ETCITC NFT with the purchase of my book during pre-order in November '22 which was developed with my on-chain for good crew which is seen here, and most recently I collaborated with NFSHE for this CALM IN THE CHAOS NFT and Physical Bag that comes with my book!

Last summer I co-founded On Chain for Good with incredible women in Web 3. I am super proud of what we put together!

From Coast to Coast YOU my community have come out to celebrate me and for that, I will be forever grateful. You all mean so much to me and seeing every one of you has brought so much joy to my life during this #EMBRACINGTHECALMINTHECHAOS #booktour. I loved seeing my childhood friends, family, new friends, and work colleagues from over the past two decades, and meeting those of you who came out to celebrate me and meet me for the first time. WOW!

I was asked what has been the best part of my book tour. I mentioned my write-up for my last NYFW show and how COMMUNITY is truly everything. I loved seeing all of you, hugging you, standing and writing a message in your books for you, catching up with you, and learning about you. I also noted I am taking a moment to embrace this. I am busy but I am stopping to say THANK YOU. My next stop on the tour is in my hometown sweet home Chicago on May 4th. Before that, I will be speaking at NFT NYC. I cannot wait to hear how each of you likes my book.

PUB WEEK MAGIC

It had been over 3 years since I had an IRL ( in real-life NYFW show or store event).

The last time I had a big NYFW was Feb 2020 right before Covid-19 hit.

I remember that show like it was yesterday. It was the first time my son Dylan attended my NYFW show! He sat front row and I was so excited to have him there to witness this show that I was so proud of and worked very hard on with all teams and performers involved. He was 5 back then.

It was the month before our world shut down. This was the run of the show I wrote that everyone received.

“IMAGINE being in a circle next to people from different backgrounds, who have different passions, and different world views. Then, imagine for that one moment you come together as a COMMUNITY, celebrating FREEDOM, and living with INTEGRITY. Do you feel me? If you do, then you have arrived. That MOMENT is RIGHT NOW, RIGHT HERE! We might not see eye to eye all the time, but we can come together and celebrate, and maybe even teach each other something new. I challenge you.

Thank you for celebrating this very special show with me for ROOTS x BOY MEETS GIRL® today. I am grateful for each and every one of you. Then you all know the story of what we all went through in its various forms when Covid-19 hit our world. More of how it impacted me in my book.

I decided to take Dylan with me to scope out some spaces within the venue for my first foray back IRL at MY VERY OWN BOOK EVENT OMG OMG OMG. We walked from the west side to the east side, through the park, talking and laughing and skipping and hugging. We ran into the venue and took photos and looked at two different spaces. We both had the same opinion on the space we liked better. It was teamwork at its finest.

I have made sure to hold on tight to this time and these memories as we never know what tomorrow will bring. With anything I like to plan an event and production like it is NYFW. And boy, did I do just that!

I shared this post on my IG and TikTok and the responses got me so excited that I had to make a blog about it. Honestly, the responses got my creative juices flowing and I loved how it got yours too!

There's an excerpt from my book where I shared some of my favorite style icons - my holy trinity of style goddesses who contribute to my love of fashion.

I couldn’t agree more with this statement. I love seeing style when I’m walking the streets in New York City and on the subway. I love it when I’m traveling anywhere in the world. Experiencing the motion of life inspires my creativity, my dedication to my craft, my collaborations, and my desire to raise awareness for many different causes. For me, it’s about bringing a community together, which is why I’m so happy working as hard as I do.

Kate Moss is another beautiful and confident woman I’ve always admired. What I appreciate most about her is the way she effortlessly transitions from eclectic vintage to high fashion. She never looks like she’s trying to put an outfit together—everything appears to naturally belong on her body.

Last but definitely not least is singer-songwriter, Patti Smith. She’s remained true to her edgy chicness since the seventies and is an unflappable force of nature." Page 2.

Behind the Seams: Recording my Audiobook and other News!

I am so excited to share my book, Embracing The Calm In The Chaos, with you, and I'm sure you have heard me talk all about it - but it's a BIG deal!

I was honored to be able to narrate my own AUDIOBOOK. A lot of people have been asking me if I had to audition to do the audio.

The answer is YES. I had to submit a tape to my Harper Collins team.

I thought it would be a given that I could be the voice of my own book but there are authors who write books who might not want to read their own books and there are authors who might want to but might not be able to. I felt in my heart I had to - and given my experience hosting my own podcast #MOMSGOTTHIS and taping 200 + episodes I knew I was up for the challenge. I got the role and so grateful!

Walking into the studio was a dream. I was greeted by an amazing staff member at the studio when I walked through the doors who asked me if I wanted any tea or water. My heart was so excited. I walked into this room and saw the audio equipment and then my sound editor showed me the room I would be in for the next two days.

My palms were sweaty but I felt such a thrill.

I was ready to take on this role and do it with all my might.

There I was and as the words rolled off my tongue, EMBRACING THE CALM IN THE CHAOS, CHAPTER 1... and I was off.

I am grateful to my sound editor who was an incredible team member for those two days and made me feel super comfortable. I am so excited for you to listen to my audiobook and cannot wait to hear from you after you do. Also, there is some exciting additions to my audiobook that only comes with the audiobook that I will share with you closer to Pub Date on March 7, 2023! As we embark into a thankful holiday season. I have really been reflecting and I am incredibly thankful for how far I’ve come since starting my journey as a business owner.

It is hard to find words to describe this feeling when you see you are #1 in new releases.

Feature in WWD: "Florentine fragrance company, Officina Profumo Farmaceutica di Santa Maria Novella, known more casually as Santa Maria Novella, hosted an authentic scent experience, in honor of the brand’s new — and first — perfume, L’Iris. (It previously has stuck with colognes.) Guests (including Sophie Eglort, myself, and many others) gathered at Harlem Parish on 118th Street to first smell L’Iris, then work with one of the Florentine staff members to create their own custom scent, blending together 10 different drops into a bottle that was mixed while dinner was served."

I attended this event with my dear friend Sophie Elogrt (who by the way was a few days out from having her 3rd baby)! When we entered the Harlem Parish we were blown away by the decor and the location. We both had never attended an event at this location and did not know what to expect. It was absolutely perfect.

After getting the opportunity to make our own custom scent we headed downstairs to live music by an opera singer and a special meal with beautiful humans inside and out. We were blown away by this event production and I will be heading down to the Santa Maria Novella store in Nolita NYC to continue the celebration.

If you know anything about me and my brand, BOY MEETS GIRL®, you know we are an impact brand and we have been giving back since I started. What you may not know is since DAY 1 of the creation of BOY MEETS GIRL®, I have been an advocate for breast cancer awareness.

For our photo shoot, we brought together cancer thrivers of all ages in collaboration with Pink Cans for Cancer to bring awareness to the campaign.

Pink Cans for Cancer is an organization that is making a difference in the environment and society by collecting cans and donating its proceeds to help those who have been affected by cancer.

Both Co-Founder William Anthony Dean from Pink Cans 4 Cancer and I shared the love and loss of our mutual friend, Kristen Martinez, and came together in this collaboration a decade after losing our dear friend.

Thank you to my friend and thriver Mercedes Wilson and her co-host Emily Lampa for having me on the show. It was such an honor. Thank you Tony for working with me on this campaign and helping me surprise Hope Chest Buffalo with this $5,000 check toward their non-profit.

As you know, I work with lots of activists and bring many topics to the forefront through collaborations with my brand BOY MEETS GIRL® as well as live conversations and panels. Some of my past IRL panels you can see here .

Last week I had the honor to go on my Instagram live with best-selling author, podcast creator, and award-winning journalist, Jo Piazza and my niece Morgan, a student at UVA. I read Jo’s book over the summer “we are not like them” and loved it so much that I shared it with my niece Morgan as I felt it was important for her to read this book and I knew she would really love it. I feel it is so important to have awkward conversations so we can learn from those conversations.

These conversations are not easy to have - and this is part of why I am grateful for this book. Women are hungry for spaces where they can say what they really feel, without getting canceled and with their friendships still intact. Jo and her co-author Christine Pride share an experience in a way that is comfortable but also uncomfortable at the same time.

Interestingly, Jo expresses how she was told to whitewash the book and remove some of the dialog - but she and her co-author felt like it would be detrimental to the conversation. The authors left the story raw and realistic, avoiding writing a fairytale of wokeness and keeping it within the real world that we live in and the injustices that really happen, and the consequences (or lack of) that lie within those.

Every day I say ... I will get to that.

Do you ever have that feeling?

I just realized my last post on my blog was in 2019.

I wrote the below in 2018.

I started blogging on December 12, 2008, as my personal journal to share with you all my crazy life and the Behind the Seams™ of building my brand Boy Meets Girl® (first using my blackberry, then my droid, now my iPhone5s and as of February 2014 dabbling with my new gorgeous Canon EOS Rebel T3i).

Over the past years, it has evolved into more than just my journal entries. It incorporates all facets of my life! From what I wore at events, Q and A’s with my friends (from fashionistas to musicians), Entrepreneurship 101, My Tips (from Nails to DIY to fittings and more), my Midnight Inspirations (the things that inspire me all the time aka, Kate Moss & Johnny Depp, products I love and most recently my son Dylan Reid aka Dj Dylan Reid who was born on October 4th, 2014), My Features on Olivia Palermo, and the list goes on and on. Also, check out my new podcast launching over this Mother's Day 2018 called #MOMSGOTTHIS. I am glad you stopped by because now you can join me Behind the Seams™. And remember to always BELIEVE. MOMMY ON MODEL DUTY

Two months ago on 10.18.19, I gathered 13 kids together ranging from 18 months to 13 years old (including my son Dylan Reid Igel) for a special shoot for the collaboration of the BOY MEETS GIRL® x CARE BEARS™ KIDS line FOR SAKS which dropped on 12.14.19 now available here.

I had spoken to frequent collaborator and dear friend photographer Sophie Elgort about this project prior to putting it all together and she was an advocate of this project (given a quick timeline). This gave me the confidence to move forward to put together the shoot in time for the holidays and pre-launch. I decided what better way to celebrate this collection then put together our friends and their children as well as some professional models too. ;) When I asked my friends and friends of Dylan, along with my niece and her friends - everyone said YES! I remember calling Sophie and saying, “Well, you wanted me to do this and guess what we have 13 MODELS!” At first, Sophie paused and then she said, ”We can do it.” And so we did - we planned a two-hour shoot with 13 models, and let’s just say it was one of the hardest in both of our careers. However, because of the incredible teams and parents, along with these kid models the end result was perfection. It is a shoot that I will cherish forever and never, ever forget. Thank you to all involved - there is no I in TEAM.

I thought you all would love to hear from some of the parents (or shall I say Mommies on Model Duty) and what it felt like to watch their kids on set. I also asked myself as well as Sophie whose daughter Stella was on the shoot with us and captured here.

What was it like to watch your child’s involvement in this magical campaign? This was Harry's first-ever professional photo shoot, and it was so cool to watch him light up in front of the camera!

What is your favorite memory from the photoshoot? My favorite memory from the shoot was definitely when he ran up to Stacy and gave her a big hug at the beginning!

What is your [and your child/children’s] favorite item from the collection? Harry loved the comfy sweats he was in, I love the tie-dye pattern and tutu in particular.

Are you excited for BOY MEETS GIRL® to launch at Saks & for the event with Care Bears™? *and that it is made out of 100% organic fleece & cotton! Yes, Saks is my favorite store in the world.

Any holiday music on your playlist right now? Definitely Mariah Carey and the Chipmunks!

What was it like to watch your child’s involvement in this magical campaign? I have known Stacy for several years, our work paths have always merged. To me, Stacy is the perfect embodiment of a girl boss. When Eloise was hired to participate in Stacy's campaign shoot, I was thrilled that my 1-year-old daughter was given the opportunity to work for someone who hustles hard, and has an incredibly strong entrepreneurial spirit. Watching my daughter interact on a set produced by Stacy was so moving. It's important to continue to surround Eloise with hard-working women, and inspirational females like Stacy.

What is your favorite memory from the photoshoot? My favorite memory was watching all the children models come together and help each other on set. Some of the older girls would hold Eloise's hand and help her perform in front of the camera.

What is your [and your child/children’s] favorite item from the collection? Definitely all the tie-dye pieces and matching sets. Tie-Dye was always seen as a way to escape from strict social norms, and express freedom and individuality. I love that tie-dye is making a comeback in fashion, and I love that it's happening now!!

Are you excited for BOY MEETS GIRL® to launch at Saks & for the event with Care Bears™? *and that it is made out of 100% organic fleece & cotton!

I can’t help but recall some of the wonderful toys I had and loved as an 80s baby. Care Bears was certainly one of them. Seeing the Care Bears collection that Stacy produced was like riding a wave of nostalgia! I had that warm and cozy feeling of being a child again. And speaking of warm and cozy, the collection is made of organic fleece and cotton! SCORE!!

Any holiday music on your playlist right now? The classic Frank Sinatra rendition of "Let It, Snow!" Bc I love a fresh snowfall, and not just because it makes for a great photo opp! :)

“This was my first shoot since Dylan came with me on this shoot in 2016 when he was 2. It is definitely a different story when your son is 5 and is on set with you with 12 other models. Let’s just say it was not easy but we found our groove and he decided to direct one group with me in the UNICORN group seen here and then give us smiles for the Care Bears group : ) ( I think a #momsgotthis moment was in full effect here lol) . I loved seeing all the models help one another and play together. I loved watching Sophie shoot with such a calmness in the midst of madness. I loved having my niece in this shoot with her model friends and watch them take care of the littles. And I am so beyond grateful for all the team members involved who trusted me in this campaign. A Night of Wigs & Wishes

On Monday, I had the opportunity to emcee the Wigs & Wishes Event at the Gregory Hotel NYC. My good friend Claudine DeSola Krause founder of Caravan Stylist Studio and Janine Just of Janine Just Inc said "they knew I could be an MCEE. And Claudine kept saying to me this is practice for your future ...." I truly love the confidence my ladies give me every day and I was honored to be the MCEE. Martino Cartier’s organization, Wigs and Wishes donate 25,000 wigs to women and children each year. It was an honor to introduce such amazing women and men who are doing the work in the fight against cancer. From fertility to wigs to losing someone to the disease, each individual shared their part in being an advocate for helping others & encouraged attendees to become a part of the fight. Hearing everyone’s journey was the most magical part of the evening. Thank you to all!

I have been involved in giving back to cancer research since I started my brand. In 2008,
I became a Committee Member and Co-Chair of the In Living Pink Gala under the
Young Survival Coalition for Breast Cancer, and have continued working on events &
bringing awareness to an organization that helps bring young women together that are
struggling with the disease. Whether it is through clothing [including the the F*CK CANCER Tops] or
events, it is important for me to remain involved. This cause is important to me as I lost
my grandmother to breast cancer, as well as a friend - Kristin Martinez - who I met through the
Young Survival Coalition for Breast Cancer. After her passing, I knew I wanted to
continue my involvement in any way I could and have managed to continue to have
an impact along the way, and will continue to do so.

Riki Stevens & Lily Lane both performed at the event anthems of encouragement and strength.
Riki Stevens sang Martino’s favorite song “Somewhere Out There” from An American Tail.
Lily sang the song she wrote for an event I co-chaired in 2008, the In Living Pink Gala for
the Young Survival Coalition, “Battle Cry” - which is an anthem of hope for anyone going
through cancer. It is a song that gives me chills every time I hear it.

Denise Albert, Pamela Pekerman, and Ariana Ost are a few of the amazing women that shared
their stories and connections to advocate for those with cancer.
Denise is a breast cancer survivor herself & a voice of hope and encouragement.
Pamela is a powerful voice that shared statistics and information to highlight just how important
it is to join the fight for cancer awareness. Ariana Ost started the event with healing prayer with
crystals that she creates to instill positive energy & healing for all aspects of life -
and she also shared her story of losing her mother to breast cancer. There were also other amazing
women who shared their involvement. Dr. Janelle Luk, who runs an initiative that offers free
IVF with anyone that has gone through Cancer. Kalyn Johnson Chandler,
who shared her own personal journey with two good friends of hers that had cancer.
Actress Emily Bergl, who shared her connection to cancer with honoring the memory of her mother,
as well as Romelda Teron Benjamin, who also shared the story of the loss of her mother to cancer.

We have multiple styles on the BOY MEETS GIRL® website now that give back to the
Young Survival Coalition for Breast Cancer. F*CK CANCER. Make a statement & give back.

Let’s continue to make a difference together.

“Art, Activism, and Impact” Panel, JOIN ME!

BOY MEETS GIRL® has been a give-back brand since inception, and I love to find ways to continue to spread awareness and bring voices together to share topics to inspire change.

I have grown from a fear of public speaking to speaking in front of 1000+ people to speaking on panels - to now moderating my first one! The “Art, Activism, and Impact” Panel will take place from 3:45 PM - 4:45 PM on June 19th. I am so excited to bring people together that I have worked with in different ways to bring awareness to multiple causes - whether it is gun control, anti-bullying, breast cancer awareness, immigration rights, and more.

Denise was a guest on my podcast #MOMSGOTHIS (you can take a listen here). We actually met ages ago when she was on a panel and I fell in love with her. She has traveled the world as a Curve Model and has been recognized for her groundbreaking movements in the fashion industry. In 2014 Denise broke barriers by becoming the first plus-size model to walk multiple runways during NYFW. As a fellow mom, Denise wants to spread more awareness that "being you is what defines real beauty." During the summer of 2016, she launched a lifestyle movement called "The No Wrong Way Movement." Denise hopes this movement will inspire people from every walk of life to claim and own their unique individuality and beauty. Whitney Allgood, Chief Executive Officer, National School Climate Center

I have worked with the NSCC’s BullyBust Program since 2009, dating back to when I worked on a campaign with Sammi Hanratty [at the time she was the American Girl doll Chrissa Stands Strong & dealt with bullying on YouTube in 2009] on what it meant to be an “UPSTANDER” that combats against bullying & intolerance. Whitney recently came on board to the NSCC and it has been a pleasure working with her and excited to share a big campaign we are launching in the fall to continue BOY MEETS GIRL®’s give back to the National School Climate Center’s BullyBust program. Luis Hernandez, Executive Director, Youth Over Guns & Engagement Coordinator for Justice League NYC

I met Luis when we shot our campaign for Voto Latino + Youth Empower last year to encourage others to vote & stand up for equal rights (you can see here). Luis is an inspiring voice for the youth. BOY MEETS GIRL®: The Artist Series

I started creating, painting and sewing my own creations in the womb and came to New York from the Midwest to work for amazing designers after college and then started selling my own creations to stores door to door in the streets of NYC! So this collaboration is in my veins and it is at the root of what BOY MEETS GIRL® is all about and truly one of my favorite parts of being a creator. When I did my first tradeshow in 2001, I was asked by Levi's to create a piece out of their jeans. I remember the feeling of putting this piece together and the excitement I had that Levi's was giving me this opportunity.

I’m so excited to introduce to you the BOY MEETS GIRL® Artist Series! With my brand, I have collaborated with three amazing artists. They had the opportunity to get creative with the BOY MEETS GIRL® logo and it has been truly beautiful to see the direction each artist created inside the brand.

My heart is filled with so much joy thinking about this project and offering our platform to these talented artists. This is about rising artists and real people and sharing their creativity through the brand is magical. So without further ado, please meet the ARTISTS.

Cerise Zelentez is a New York-based artist, illustrator, writer and humorist. Her work has been featured in a number of groups and solo shows throughout New York and Paris, as well as publications including the New Yorker and the Paris Review. I actually featured her as a part of the BOY MEETS GIRL® Muse of the Week series in 2016, seen here. She took an animation approach to the logo, which I love. For the BOY MEETS GIRL® blog we asked her what the inspiration behind the logo is, and she stated, “Inspiration for this design was taken primarily from the BOY MEETS GIRL® logo itself, drawing on the awkward yet essential beauty of human interaction. With technology ever-growing, the aim was to stress the forgotten complexity of face to face relations, and the extraordinary impact one person can have on another with just the slightest contact.” Read more on the BOY MEETS GIRL® blog here.

Matthew Langille is an NYC-based artist and the designer known for his whimsy, humor, and sardonic wit. His work has been shown at galleries around the world and featured in numerous publications. Matthew utilized the logo featuring a polka dot design, and you all know how much I love polka dots… :)! On the BOY MEETS GIRL® blog, he let us know his inspiration for his design: “My concept for the BOY MEETS GIRL® Artist Series was a simple one. I used dots to fill the BOY MEETS GIRL® logo and found it simple and poetic to have each silhouette filled with dots, but of course, as in life no one human is the same but we are all made of the same human threads.”

Jason Gaskins is an illustrator and photographer based in Brooklyn, New York. His work can be found at Bet.com, Vibe.com, and TheGarnetteReport.com. Jason stated, “I was already a fan of the BOY MEETS GIRL® silhouette when I was introduced to the brand about two years ago. Along with the all the positive messages that they have been able to incorporate in the said logo; I felt my signature "galaxy motif " was a no-brainer for me. Conversely, the whole concept of BOY MEETS GIRL® made me think of the big bang theory and creation in general; making this collaboration both fitting and inspiring for me.”

In recent years, I have started to be more and more open with my political views.

In our country’s current climate, we cannot remain silent!

My involvement in voting has expanded with my brand BOY MEETS GIRL over the years,

with t-shirts that included BOY MEETS OBAMA GIRL, WAKE UP GET UP VOTE with Project Vote,

YAY NAY with Voto Latino [In connection to the 2016 elections - I think you know what side
I was on that time.], and now with our TWO STEPS REGISTER, VOTE TEE with Women’s March Youth Empower and Voto Latino.

Teen Vogue covered our campaign, stating “How One Brand Is Making A Difference.” Bringing the youth together and giving them a platform is something I have always made a focus
with BOY MEETS GIRL®.
If we come together and share our stories we can help others and bring people together.
This is what is needed and I will continue to work hard to do this every day.
Teen Vogue's title only pushes me more to keep doing what I am doing.

On the BOY MEETS GIRL® blog,
we are rolling out Q&A’s with each activist -
asking them if they really believe that the youth can make a difference in today’s political climate.
This roll-out will continue into October 13th.

MAKING A STATEMENT ONE GARMENT AT A TIME!

Last month I traveled back to HELSINKI to celebrate PRIDE MONTH with BOY MEETS GIRL® and PRISMA (BOY MEETS GIRL exclusive licensee). This was my fourth trip to my new favorite country FINLAND.

I went there before you DONALD TRUMP and I have been creating a movement over the past year there so my favorite FINNS proudly wore their F**CKBULLIES shirts when you arrived!

On June 26th. 2018, I started my morning with coffee and butterflies in my stomach. I always get butterflies before I present my brand to the world. I think getting butterflies makes me better when I am up there presenting ( I hope that is true :)).

I presented the BOY MEETS GIRL Pride collection " BOY MEETS GIRL® IS FOR EVERYONE" at the Helsinki Pride House and updates on where BOY MEETS GIRL has been this year since our launch last year to top editors and bloggers.

Later in the day, I spoke on a pride panel with Paivi Hole & Annti Asplund, moderated by Veera Teppola & Kristoffer Ignatius. Fans had the opportunity to ask questions & start a conversation about LGBTQ topics & issues.

After my presentation and panel, I grabbed a big coffee, ate some yummy food and headed off to one of the most special moments in my career. Individuals entered a contest to meet me in Finland. Those who won the contest came from all over Finland to meet me at the HAM Helsinki museum (if you followed my journey over the past year I went to HAM on my first trip ever to Finland so it was indeed a surreal moment for me). I walked into a room with girls and women inspired by the brand I created from scratch. I asked everyone there to tell me how they heard of the brand and what the brand meant to them. Each had a story and shared their story openly without fear. Many had been bullied when they were younger and we talked about how they dealt with those times in their lives and some even told me BOY MEETS GIRL clothing helped them share their story with others and even make friends with the bullies! I was brought to tears and had chills all over my body. All the hard work and sleepless nights to make a statement and a change were brought together in this room. I have been an advocate for the NSCC BullyBust.org efforts since 2009 and every day working hard to have others share their stories so we can make a statement and bring people together. On June 26th, 2018 we certainly did that! Together, we created a custom collection in which they titled "THE MOI COLLECTION." Thank you for a beautiful day and being so honest with your stories.

BOY MEETS GIRL®...what a limitless story that beginning can create. Maybe romance, a new friend, and more often than not, a small moment shared that only lasts a few seconds, maybe minutes, but inspires so many more. We create fashion rooted from these connections. I love to collaborate and give back. It keeps me excited. It lets me work with incredible brands, organizations, artists, musicians, thinkers, doers and passionate people. I have been doing it since the beginning of starting my fabric baby BOY MEETS GIRL®. Lily Lane wrote this on a recent Instagram post I made-->"YES!!! Queen of collabs! So proud of youuuu." THANK YOU LILY. I will take that title lol! I love all collaborations that see eye to eye on visions and messaging.

In Paris, I launched the new BOY MEETS GIRL® BLACK LABEL x SMILEY ORIGINALS at concept store Oscar Paris during Men's Fashion Week exclusively covered by WWD.

Stacy Igel, BOY MEETS GIRL® Founder and Creative Director shared, “I am excited to head back to Paris during Paris Fashion Week to launch this collaboration with the Original Smiley. Since working with colette for several seasons and building a Parisian fan base, it is exciting to work with what I believe is the “next” colette with OSCAR PARIS and bring my loyal customers a new collaboration that I know they will covet.”

This collection was brought together to serve a message spreading positive vibes and “More Self Love” and to launch it back in Paris was incredible and was the perfect setting, vibe to celebrate and kick off this cross-collaboration with SMILEY.
