Butterfly Wishes Birthday Card

I think if I had to choose I'd pick butterflies over flowers. My stamp collection doesn't include as many floral sets as it does butterfly sets:)

Free As A Bird Friendship Card

This week is a busy week for me as I plan my upcoming fall schedule and August classes. So I thought I'd just post a quick tutorial for you today.

Measurements:

Petal Pink – 8 ½” x 5 ½”; scored at 4 ¼” to form card base

Gray Granite – 4 7/8” x 3 5/8”

Balmy Blue – 3 ½” x 2”

Whisper White – 2 ½” x 2 ¼”

Bird Ballad Designer Series Paper – 4 ¾” x 3 ½”; 5” x 2 ¾”

Instructions:

1. Fold Petal Pink cardstock in half to form card front.

2. Glue the DSP (4 3/4" x 3 1/2") to the Gray Granite layer.

3. Glue both pieces to the front of the card.

4. Cut out the 4 1/4" (length) Stitched Nested Labels Die from the DSP (5" x 2 3/4") and pop up in the middle of the card with Stampin' Dimensionals.

5. Cut out the 3 1/4" (length) Stitched Nested Labels Die from the Balmy Blue cardstock.

6. Stamp the sentiment on the Balmy Blue in Versmark ink, apply Whisper White Emboss Powder and heat set. Glue the label to the DSP label towards the right end.

7. Stamp the bird image in Tuxedo Memento ink and colour with Balmy Blue and Gray Granite Stampin' Blends.

8. Fussy cut the bird and pop up on the left side of the Balmy Blue label.

9. Cut the salvage edge off the Flax ribbon and pull a few loose threads. Tie in a bow and glue dot to the upper right corner of the Balmy Blue label.

10. Add a few pearls to the Balmy Blue label

Wildly Happy Panda Card

The sweet images from the Wildly Happy stamp set make creating an adorable card so easy! It's hard to pick a favourite mama and baby combo but the pandas definitely rank pretty high.

I used water-colour paper as my background and created a wash with my aqua painter and some garden green ink. The pandas are also watercolored and cut out and popped up using dimensionals.

I felt like a little something was else was needed but didn't want to add any rhinestones or sequins so I used the fine tip of a black stampin' write marker to add clusters of little dots in a few places. You need to look closely in order to see them but I think it was just what it needed.

Double Point Fold Card using Stampin' Up!'s New Wonders Host Set

I'm so happy to be back to my weekly Facebook Lives! Today I decided to focus on my favourite host set - New Wonders. Host sets often get over looked. There are some fabulous ones in the annual catalogue and a couple great ones coming out in the holiday catalogue.

Host sets can't be purchased by just anyone though. They need to be purchased using Stampin' Rewards. There are a few ways that you can earn Stampin' Rewards...

I thought I would continue on with my fun folds theme from yesterday's class and create this square double point card. The photo just doesn't do this card justice. it's soft, pretty and has a bit of sparkle!

The belly band slides off and the flaps open to reveal the message.

Because the card is square, I decided to alter one of our medium sized envelopes to fit the card. I love how it turned out.

Come Sail Away Shaker Card

The Come Sail Away suite is such a great suite for masculine projects, memory keeping, graduation and so much more. I've used it so much more than I thought I would and am so happy with the projects. You can find a few of them here, here and here. It's also the suite I plan on using at Augusts card class - mark your calendars for Thursday August 8th!

I created this project a couple months ago and just realized I hadn't shared it with you yet. There are a couple items on it that have retired (the navy bakers twine, the tranquil textures sprinkles) but you could easily replace those with something similar. I've included a full supply list below.

One of the things that I love about this catalogue is that Stampin' Up! has made it easy for you to order an entire suite with just one product number. Did you notice that? Check out page 145 - right below the title of the suite is a product number (152175) and price $130.50. You can use that product number to order all of the items included in the Come Sail Away Suite. Royal Peacock So Proud of You Card

One of the most talked about suites from the new catalogue, amongst my customers, has been the Noble Peacock suite. It is simply GORGEOUS! The rich jewel tones and the embossed images in the dsp and the beautiful coordinating foil just has everyone in ah.

I have had the bundle sitting in my untouched pile for too long, it was time to get it inky. So I decided to use it for my Greek Isles incentive trip swap. It is so much prettier in person... just sayin'.

I filmed a video on how this card comes together in hopes of showing you just how stunning the foil is.

Sailing Home Masculine Birthday Card

Today I'm sharing the card I made for my brother for his birthday. He retired from the navy last year and lives in Halifax so the Come Sail Away suite is the perfect suite to use for cards for him!!

I love how this card came out and it's so incredibly simple! I stamped the larger sail boat image in the three different colours - balmy blue; night of navy and mossy meadow. Then just used a blender pen to pull some of the colour from the stamped image to shade the boat. It really softens the look and add just a bit more dimension.

Tip: To adhere the vellum greeting I used a glue dot under where the wheel is but then also added a bit of Tombow in behind the stamped letters that were going to sit on top of the sails. It worked perfectly - no glue showing!!

Teenage Boy Birthday Card using Capture the Good from Stampin' Up!

I'm ahead of the game this year! I have my sons birthday card done and his birthday isn't until the end of August! Teenage boys must be the hardest age group to make cards for, anyone else agree?!

This card was inspired from the scraps on my desk! That makes it even better. I love it when I can use random pieces that I have laying around to create something useful. I love the distressed, grungy look of the card and it seriously only took me about 10 minutes to make!

I've included the supply list at the bottom of this post and thought I'd give you step-by-step instructions on how to create this one in case you have some teenage boys to give cards too. Well actually this card will work for grown men and teenage girls as well!!

Measurements:

Old Olive: 8 1/2” x 5 1/2” scored at 4 ¼” (this will be your card base) and a 1” circle

Whisper White: 4” x 5 ¼” for inside and scrap for stamping

Pretty Peacock: 4” x 5 ¼”

Flax Ribbon: 8”

Instructions:

Emboss the peacock card stock using the brick & mortar folder.
Use your peacock ink pad and rub it gently across the embossed card stock and around the edges.
Stamp ‘oh snap’ a couple times on the embossed cardstock.
Use your paper snips to distress the edges of the embossed cardstock. Attach that to the card front.
Stamp the camera using old olive ink onto a piece of whisper white cardstock and fussy cut.
Cut the edge of the flax ribbon off so that you can separate the fibers.
Add a bit of snail behind where you’ll place your camera and use three of the strands of fiber to form circles of twine.
Add the camera using dimensionals.
Stamp ‘oh snap’ using pretty peacock ink onto the scrap of whisper white and punch it out using the 1” circle punch.
Distress the edges of both the white and olive circles, layer them as shown and add them to the card front.
Stamp ‘the focus is all on you’ and ‘it’s your day’ onto the white layer for the inside of the card.

Before I get into the nitty gritty of this post - I'd like to wish all my Canadian readers a Happy Canada Day! I hope you have some fabulous plans to celebrate. We have just arrived in Italy and will be driving to Cortona today. Looking forward to some wonderful down time to rest and relax and rejuvenate!

Sailing Home Card

When I first saw the Come Sail Away suite, I didn't think I needed it! But I'm so glad I've purchased it because I've created so many great masculine themed cards and layouts. It's such a gorgeous collection of products.

I love the look of mis aligned papers behind the focal point. It's like you just roughly tidied up some papers on your desk and then stuck them down. I think I will do that more often on my projects! The other thing that really makes this card pop is the touch of green behind the greeting.

From Sketch to Layout

Welcome to another Memory Keeping Monday where I'm sharing a layout that was inspired by the April 2019 Sketchy Challenge held by Creative Scrapbooker Magazine.

The layout I'm sharing with you actually fits the bill for both classes in my Let's Get Series - Let's Get Sketchy and Let's Get Scrappy with Multiples.

The first thing I did was create my own background paper using crushed curry ink and the fabulous camera image from the Capture the Good stamp set. Instead of using the circles on the sketch I chose to stamp an angled background.

I had 4 photos that I wanted to include but still wanted to stick to the format of the sketch. The photos are pretty close up so I couldn't trim them smaller than about 4" x 4" so I had to get a bit creative.

To solve this problem I created a little flap to open under the middle photo to reveal the fourth photo. I added the word 'open' and hinted at another photo in my journaling.

If you look back at the sketch, I replaced that smaller square with my journaling. I'm pretty happy with the way it turned out!

I love to scrapbook but it's not just the process that I love...

It's recording the stories that make up our lives.
It's seeing those photos in albums for anyone and everyone to enjoy.
It's seeing my family flip through them and chuckle as they relive those memories.

The first class in the series - Let's Get Sketchy - focused on sketches.

In the Let's Get Sketchy class, you receive a link to a video where we analyze a sketch and then I put that sketch to use in a quick process video. You receive 11 layout ideas started from a sketch. The second class in the series - Let's Get Scrappy with Multiples - focuses on layouts with 4 or more photos. Don't get me wrong, I love layouts with just one photo. It's amazing the stories you can tell with just one photo. But sometimes you have a LOT of photos that you want to include on a layout. I'm happy to tell you that you can still create beautiful pages with multiple photos!

In this class I'll share 11 layouts with various ways to get more photos onto a page. Five of which include step-by-step instructions, a supply list, measurements and a video tutorial where needed. Here's a look at one of the layouts included in the class. You are sure to be inspired to get more photos onto a layout!

I filmed a quick video sharing a bit more information on this class.

Keep in mind that this series is meant to help you use what you have on hand to get your photos into albums. Most of the products I use are Stampin' Up! products but can easily be replaced with what you have at home. I do include full supply lists with all the projects. Scrapbooking Global June 2019 Blog Hop

Welcome to June's Scrapbooking Global blog hop! Our theme this month is birthday or party themed layouts chosen by this months guest designer Marga Bultena.

I interpreted this months prompt a little more generally and did a layout focused on celebrating. I chose photos from this years Mother's Day dinner that we hosted. Because our family album is a 6x8 my layout is that size. I had several photos that I wanted to include so I actually have 2 two-page spreads.

I chose my colours from the bouquet of flowers my mother-in-law brought me. The perennial essence dsp coordinated beautifully! The accents were created using the daisy and medium daisy punches. It's amazing how much more texture and dimension little touches like inking the centres and curling up the petals adds. The perennial essence floral centres were the perfect finishing touch to these flowers.

I decided to do an insert for the right hand page and was looking for it to be a bit softer than a piece of yardstick so ended up choosing a piece of the so saffron vellum from the perennial essence vellum pack. To reinforce the side with the punches I added a strip of the dsp with a scalloped edge.

Because the vellum is see through I mimicked this same process on the back side. I love adding quotes to my pages and I came across this great quote about Mother's that I wanted to include. To dress up the journaling cards I simply stamped the daisy image from the daisy lane stamp set around the edges. It's the perfect way to tie in the accents and the dsp.

Daisy Lane Card Tutorial

You don't have to spend a lot of time on a card for it to be beautiful. The card I'm sharing today was one of the make and takes at my catalogue launch and really highlights the new in colour Rococo Rose. You could replicate this card in any of the new in colours and it would be stunning!

You know I love my note cards and envelopes so that's what we used as our base. I've included a full supply list at the bottom of this post.

Measurements:
Whisper White Note Card: this is your card base
Rococo Rose: 2" x 4 1/4"
Basic Black: 1 3/8" scallop circle
Whisper White: scrap for stamping
Vellum: two daisy shapes
Rococo Rose Ribbon: two 1 1/2" lengths

Instructions:

Stamp the daisy image with rococo rose ink all over the card front.
Punch the end of the rococo rose card stock using the triple banner punch. Add this to the card front.
Use your bone folder to curl up the flower petals. Attach the two daisies together off centring them.
Stamp the greeting using memento black ink onto the scrap of whisper white card stock. Punch out using the 1 1/4" circle punch.
Add the greeting to the black scallop circle and that to the centre of the daisies using dimensionals.
Attach the ribbon to the card front as shown and then add the daisy over top.

The Daisy Lane bundle (with the medium daisy punch) pairs so well with the Daisy Delight stamp set and daisy punch. Those punches layer so beautifully! Scrapbook Album Title Page

This weekend I was playing with the Come Sail Away suite as I was planning my July layout of the month (LOTM) class. Initially I thought that this suite was going to be very limited to water, seaside, coastal type photos but I'm finding it much more versatile than that. It's been a FABULOUS suite to document photos of my husband with the kids.

As I was flipping through the cards I came across the one above and thought it would make for a perfect title page! A few scraps of dsp, some of the twine and the year and it was done. Simple but it's the perfect page to introduce our 2007 family album.

Do you do title pages for your albums?
What types of things do you include on them? Photos, memories, a recap of the year?
Do you complete it before the year happens or do you come back to it later on?

I like to use whatever I'm playing with when I work in that particular album. Sometimes I complete it before I start the album but it's usually afterwards - like this one MANY years later lol.

Capture the Good Father's Day Card

Hands down my favourite stamp set from the new catalogue is Tami White's million dollar stamp set - Capture the Good. I love the camera, the greetings just everything about it. I received it with my order early this week and knew I had to use it for today's Facebook live. Because it's Father's Day weekend I thought it would be the perfect set to use to create a Father's Day card.

I created a simple water-colour background for the card and added my favourite - splatters. Check out how it all comes together in the video.

How to Create a Simple Bookmark

I have a fun project for you today - a book mark using the ADORABLE Over the Moon stamp set. We had a team shoe box swap at the beginning of the month and one of the projects was a bookmark. It was so simple to create, I wanted to recreate it using my current favourite stamp set.

All of the images in this set are adorable but I especially like this one. She just looks so content daydreaming.

I filmed a video sharing the original bookmark, how to get 4 of these out of 1 sheet of 8-1/2" x 11" yardstick and then I share another way that you can use this idea.

By simply flipping this over, you can create a pocket for a gift card!

I am SO excited to announce this months class in the mail! It uses one of my favourite new stamp sets - Over the Moon. This stamp set has the most adorable cow images and some cute greetings. It's such a fun set that you will definitely want to add to your collection. Check out the cards that I created using it last week here.

Here's a quick video sharing what is included in the class and what you will need.

Here's what the class includes:

All the pre-cut supplies you need to create 4 cards plus envelopes. Everything will be cut, punched, prepped and ready for you to stamp and assemble!

Multi Photo Scrapbook Layout

One of the things that I find when I'm looking for scrapbook inspiration is that there are so many layouts with just a photo or two on a page. Don't get me wrong I do that a lot because I love a lot of 'white space' on my pages. And you can such beautiful things with all the 'extras' on a layout. But there are times when I have a number of photos that I want included on a spread.

This layout is one of them. I wanted to document a LOAD (layout a day) challenge I had participated in back in February. I had 28 photos of the layouts that I created over the course of the month. But narrowed it down to 9 that I wanted to include on a 2-page spread. An additional obstacle was that the pages were going into a 6"x8" album. So I decided to print my photos 2" x 2" and create pockets for a few of the photos.

The Follow Your Art Suite was the perfect suite to document these photos. I love a white background for my layouts but thought it needed just a bit of color behind the photos. So I took my crushed curry ink pad and just swiped it across the background and then added a bit of splatter.

To create the little pockets I used the envelope punch board (retired) and cut my dsp to 3 3/4" x 3 3/4" and then my 1st score line is at 1 7/8" then I just followed the instructions on the board. It made these cute 2" x 2" pockets that I could tuck the extra photos in.

Watercoloring with Stampin' Up!'s Over the Moon

I am in udder love with this Over the Moon stamp set. It wasn't one of my top 5 product picks from the new catalogue but I'm thinking it should have been! These cows are so adorable and the set is perfect for colouring!

Up until yesterday, when I was planning today's live, I had only coloured in the cows using my Stampin' Blends. I thought I would try watercoloring them and I like how soft and subtle it looks. It called for a bit more of an elegant look. An elegant cow?! Well that may be a bit of a stretch lol. But I think this card does do a pretty good job of it. How about you?

Towards the end of the video I also share another fun card I made using this set and some Action Wobbles so that the cow jiggles. Be sure to check out the video so you can see her in action. You can find the Action Wobbles I used here. But I do recommend the smaller ones because I had to cut the ones I used down quite a bit so that you couldn't see it behind my cow.
