Sometimes you just have to phone it in. I hate to do that but this weekend was a stressful one. My indoor cat, that I have had since he was a day old, went missing on Saturday. I bottle fed this cat until he was old enough to eat on his own. I had him fixed and declawed. Now, eight years later, he is out there in the cold running scared with no way to defend himself and I am completely distraught. Needless to say every spare moment is spent looking for him.

Since I didn’t get any samples made I thought I would share some videos from Stampin’ Up!

Life…

I boldly stated that I was going to try to post every weekend and Tue./Wed. and I failed. I had beaten myself up over this until I realized that life happens and I needed to learn to just go with the flow. So that is what I am doing, embracing the chaos and going with the flow.

What happened was on New Year’s day my friend and I went on an adventure to find a craft store. I say adventure because we live in a rural area of Nebraska and all the great stores are at least three hours away. We finally found a Michael’s store in Greeley, CO three and a half hours from home. Needless to say I spent more money than I was planning to, but I had coupons! For the most part I bought ink, lots of ink. I bought alcohol ink, India ink, and acrylic ink.

The first chance I got to play with the new inks was the weekend. When I bought the inks, I had a specific technique in mind but what I forgot was the proper paper. Side note glossy photo paper does not work. I was able to make a couple of marbled backgrounds that are kind of pretty.

Needless to say I was disappointed in my results and proceeded to put my inks away. I sat there for awhile trying to will my creativity into action to no avail. I knew I had craft fairs coming up and needed to make some cards and things for that. I just couldn’t get my creative juices flowing. So, I turned to my old stand by C.A.S.E. (copy and share everything) this acronym is used throughout the crafting community. when I am stuck I find something that appeals to me and recreate it sometimes I keep it the same and sometimes my own creativity kicks in right away and I change everything. When I am extremely lacking in creativity I will C.A.S.E. other peoples projects until my own creativity kicks in. With that being said I would like to share a sample I cased from jreks @ splitcoaststamping via Pinterest:

I copied it exactly as it was pictured. It is not complete as nothing is glued down and the more I look at it the more I want to add and change aspects of it. I will continue to play with it until I am happy with the results. I will post a final picture when it’s complete.

I am determined to get this blog going and keep it going. I really love what I do but it seems like I tend to put the things that bring me the greatest joy to the farthest reaches of my life. I am trying not to do that anymore. I am choosing to do what brings me the most joy first and everything else second.

My hope is to post twice a week Tues./Wed. and Sat/Sun. Tues/Wed posts will include updates from Stampin’ Up! , Stamping the Moon as well as some kind of technique or two.

Sat,/Sun. post will features samples I have created and am loving. I will also pick someone from the comments to receive one of the samples.

Tin of Cards, part one

I started the Tin of Cards kit by making the tabs and one set of Cards.

The tabs were a little tricky as the straps had to line up just right, as you will see in the pictures I wasn’t quite successful on some of them.

The addition of the cardstock was very easy, just line them up at the bottom corner leaving about an eighth of an inch all around.

The first set of Cards was fairly straightforward the only confusing part was wether to adhere the cardstock to the inside back of the cardstock or the inside front. I chose the inside front and that became a little tricky with the glue.

For easier application I would go with the inside back of the cardstock.

Just a Note

I know some of you have been waiting for my post on the Tin of Cards and I promise it is coming. With that being said, I work two overnight shift in town and all though it’s not much it throws my whole week off.
I have completed the dividers and a set of the cards which I will post tonight. I have to admit when I moved my craft stuff back to my house I temporarily lost my Tin of Cards stamp set. Minor setbacks but I wanted you to know I haven’t gone off grid again.

A Cover Story

On the cover of the Stampin’ Up! Annual catalog is a kit called “Tin of Cards Project Kit”.

Over the next week I will be sharing this kit as well as another project inspired by this kit.

I also know that when I really need a card I also don’t have time to create one from scratch.

Life Happens…

It has been over a year and many think I have dropped off the face of the earth, but I am still here!

So much has happened since I last posted…

I really thought I would be back when I said I would, but as the title says life happens.

The new job I talked about in the last post consumed my life and my health. That is no longer the case. I make no excuses for my absence but I want to take time to thank you for staying with me!

I can’t wait to show you all the new things that Stampin Up! has come out with and it’s almost Sale-a-bration!!!

I love sale-a-bration, they always have so many cool things and lots of freebies.

I will be adding more of my personal life on here as well, you will be able to find that under “On a personal note” if you so choose to read my ramblings, oh and see pictures of my animals, lol.

I won’t promise that I will be consistent with my content because every time I do life interrupts my plans. I am making my blog and my stamping a priority because I need to get back to what I love to do and what makes me happy and that is creating with paper and ink!

I Love the Unexpected…

Okay sometimes they throw me for a loop
I had a relapse from my illness, got a house with a catch, and a job offer I couldn’t refuse
The catch on the house was in order to move in we had to repaint the entire house, rip out the carpet, and repair all the windows
The house is now ready for carpet which is coming monday the 7th
we can finish moving in after that so then I can start creating and blogging again!
The good news is I will have a lot more space, I will have 24 hour access to my computer, and I now have this handy dandy tablet to post with as well so…
I hope to be back creating and blogging by say the 14th of July
I can’t wait, I have so much to show you!

I Had a Brilliant Idea

Okay maybe not brilliant, but I was pretty proud of myself!

A few weeks ago we had a small craft fair that turned out to be the best one ever

I sold some stuff and bought way more, lol

That is the nature of these craft fairs that my group does

Anyway, Kristy Eskew was sitting next to me and she sells Scentsy

You can see her Beautiful and really good smelling stuff on her Scentsy website

She has this wax warmer that has magnetic frames you can put photos in

She also has decorative frames that will fit into the space on the front of the warmer

Here is a picture of one of the decorative frames you can get

Now for my Brilliant Idea

The other frame is a picture frame and since they are magnetic I can change them out whenever I want

So, my brilliant idea was to create a stamped image on vellum to put in the picture frame

I can make new ones and change them whenever the mood strikes me

Here is my first picture:

I tried a lot of different styles and techniques like shimmer and glitter but in the end because of the amount of light behind it they all were washed out

What looked the best was Stampin’ Up!’s Stampin Write Markers

I Absolutely LOVE a Challenge…

Challenges are my specialty, I won’t sleep until I have a solution

Right now I have insomnia, lol, because I am trying to get my schedule organised

My schedule is crazy:

M-F 6:30 am I get my 2 yr. old niece Danyelle

M-F 6:30 am to 9:30 am we nap (or she is a blubbering mess, me too!)

Monday my studio is closed so we do housework, laundry and a movie and popcorn

Tuesday through Friday my studio is open from 1:00 pm to 7:00 pm

So from 9:30 am to 11:00 am we have breakfast, take out the dogs and maybe get a bath

From 11:00 am to 12:00 pm we get lunch prepared to take with us and for Jerrah to have at work

from 12:15 pm until my studio closes I am there, Danyelle’s mommy gets there around 2:30

After Danyelle leaves I can really focus on projects and my blog

Then on alternating Thursdays and Fridays I work over-nite at the hotel (pays for my studio)

Saturday I get to catch up on missed sleep and then to the studio

Sunday is a rest day (HAHA) I usually spend this on the parents farm working

So I decided since I couldn’t find a planner that fit me I would make one

I have this amazing program called My Digital Studio (MDS)

Well here was the challenge…

I want my designs to print all the way to the edge of an 8 1/2″ X 11″ piece of cardstock

MDS will not do that because it is designed for professional printing and has a built in bleed area

I searched the internet for solutions (always my first step) not much there

I changed my printer setting with no luck MDS overwrites this

Finally I figured it out…

I saved the project as a JPEG to my computer

reopened the project in Microsoft office 2010 and printed it as one 8 1/2″ X 11″ picture PERFECT

Completely borderless no white at all!!!

I am so happy that now I will design my perfect planner (I will share when its done)

It was such a simple solution that frustrated me completely

PLEASE if you have any suggestions for organizing my various life projects and menial tasks please let me know

I am a complete dork and love lists so throw me all your ideas!!!!

I Love New Beginnings!

I have to laugh because in November I posted that I was coming back to blogging

Well, things happen and boy did they happen to me

I outgrew my little house, for those that don’t know my house is 480 sq. feet

I was able to rent a converted hotel room at a reduced rate

I turned this into my studio and was inundated with questions like:

“When will you open?”

“Are you going to have classes?”

and my favorite…

“Can I just come hang out and craft?”

Well I have to say this was just suppose to be my personal studio

However, things change and I now have a studio that is open to the public five days a week

I have had to do some major juggling of my schedule but I am happy to say I am proud of my little Studio

As you can see from the slideshow there are a lot of different areas

The kids area was designed for my niece Danyelle whom I watch everyday while her mommy is working

I have an entire table for my die cut center and two tables for crafting

The gondola has some items for display and some items for sale

I also carry some supplies like adhesives

The scarves you see in the slideshow are on consignment from a friend of the family

I Love my Dog

To start this page I will introduce you to my best friend

This is Tater Marie she is a four year old mini dapple dachshund

She was rescued from an abusive home by a rescue group in Kansas

I adopted her when she was eight months old

When I got her she had already had her nose and tail broken

When we got to the hotel after adopting her we tried to get her to play

She didn’t seem to know how BUT…

She is a wiener and they love the chase, it is in their DNA

So my mate Jerrah started running up and down the hotel room and low and behold she started chasing after

It took us a few months to get her to actually play with toys

She is now a full of life normal puppy, well…

As normal as it gets for wiener dogs

She sleeps 20 hours a day and defuzzes anything she can however it is worth it

She curls up in my lap when I am working and licks my face when I am sad

She brings so much joy to our lives that I couldn’t imagine my life without her

My daughter use to say there is no love like wiener love and she is so right!

I Love the Holidays

Okay maybe I don’t exactly love them

I do love watching other people get into the spirit

I also love sitting back and watching people go nuts like on black Friday

What I don’t love is scrambling to get everything done

I also hate not having enough time for the things that I want to do

Since my family is a need they come first, wants come second

I was really hoping to post some updates this past weekend and week but…

That didn’t happen, we went out of town instead

I packed up my laptop and everything I would need to work on my blog

As with many things I just ran out of time

I mentioned in a previous post that I am getting ready for a Christmas Craft show

That will be held on December 5th in downtown Imperial, NE

I will post pictures once I have them all

I also will be posting pictures of the fall craft fair that happened in October

I will be adding two new pages to the blog

One will feature artists that I know, this is where you will find my little nieces artwork

The other page I will be adding will be a non crafting page

This is where I will post random things like my buddy Tater

I Love my Job!!!

Hey everyone, I am sorry for such a long absence

A lot has been going on since my last post

I have several people going through battles with breast cancer

I had a craft show in October and I am preparing for another one in early December

I helped at the local Kwik Stop until they found a new manager

I realized I didn’t want a full time job, I wanted to focus on my arts and my blog

That is what I love to do and I was getting further and further away from it

I still help fill in around town when people need it

I am also watching my two year old niece while her mommy works

Watching her is a lot of fun and she has already fallen in love with stamping

Over the next few weeks I will be posting current content as well as older content I want available on my blog

Such as MDS Free downloads from weeks past as you can still download them

It is important to me to have complete content and so I will be filling gaps

I will limit posts that go out to my subscribers to two a day so I don’t flood anyone’s email or RSS reader

I have also decided that my blog is a little stuffy so to combat that I am going to try and personalize it more

I will share things that have nothing to do with crafting like my best friend and cuddle buddy Tater

Just a Quick Note…

I just want to let everyone know what’s up

At the moment I am working three jobs

I live in a small community and help is hard to find

I am helping a couple of local managers fill shifts to keep their businesses running

I am also working on getting the store manager position at our local Kwik Stop

The store has no one to run it and very few employees left (long story)

Our town depends on Kwik Stop for just about everything as we do not have much here

So for a little while my blog posts will be sporadic at best

Please hang in there with me as I get through this demanding time

I am hoping to be back to blogging on a regular basis by the end of the month

In the meantime I would love for you to drop me a line and tell me what content you would like to see in the future

I Love My Digital Studio

I absolutely love My digital Studio (MDS)

This week has been hectic for me as was last week

That is one of the reasons I love MDS

I can create something without having to find space, dig out supplies, and clean up afterwards

Normally I am a paper and ink girl, I love my paper and ink!

However there are days and sometimes weeks when that is just not feesible

MDS gives me an option to still be creative without the fuss

Since I am in the middle of switching jobs MDS has become my best friend

So today I am giving you a few videos so you can get to know MDS as well
