SALT LAKE CITY -- The Utah Jazz recently announced plans to participate in the 2012 AirTran Airways Orlando Pro Summer League that will take place on the Orlando Magic's practice court at the Amway Center from July 9-13.

The 20-game event hosted by the Magic will also feature the Boston Celtics, Brooklyn Nets, Detroit Pistons, Indiana Pacers, Oklahoma City Thunder and Philadelphia 76ers.

OGDEN -- Tim Gardner won't be selling recruits on Weber State's basketball program anymore -- he's moving on to a different kind of sales.

The Wildcats assistant coach is trading in his coaching sneakers for the business world, having accepted a position with IT staffing firm Apex Systems Inc.

Gardner said it was a move he began considering after the season ended, his sixth at Weber State under head coach Randy Rahe.

Then again, good as Federer is, he can't top this: His next opponent at the French Open, Belgium's David Goffin, is unbeaten in Grand Slam main-draw matches. (OK, so the kid's only 3-0, but still.)

Yes, before Federer can take on Novak Djokovic or Rafael Nadal at Roland Garros this year, he'll need to defeat Goffin, the first "lucky loser" -- a player beaten in qualifying who sneaks into the field via someone's withdrawal -- to reach the fourth round at any Grand Slam tournament in 17 years, and only the seventh to make it that far.

OGDEN — No criminal charges will be filed against nine Ogden High School cheerleaders who were suspended from school last month for hazing.

Incoming cheerleaders were subjected to over-the-top initiation activities on May 4, leading to complaints to the school and a criminal investigation by the Ogden Police Department.

Fourteen new cheerleaders were blindfolded and pelted with condiments, ketchup, mustard, pickle juice and other items while rifled with obscene remarks.
