We swapped the 3.27 open in my Grand Marquis for a 3.55 locker by swapping the whole axle for one out of an '85 Town Car. The problem with the whole-axle swap for six's application is that the 3.73 was never offered in the Panther platform. A Marauder, Town Car, or some years of P71 would have a 3.55 locker available, but 3.73 was never offered.

That makes it a matter of changing the ring and pinion and adding the clutch packs. I've never really looked into it, but I've understood it's not too bad to do, though you need to make sure you get the gears meshed correctly. Also remember to change the speedometer drive gear, unless they've changed where they do the speedo pickup.

no, it wont be carrying more load than rated for. cargo is rated for about 900lbs.

tounge weight 10% of trailer weight 900-180=720

im pretty sure 2 people wont be over 720 pounds...

Most people will buy this and hide behind the "superior numbers" argument. Sure, your shift is much faster and more precise consistently than my shift, but who is having more fun driving? But then I'd get something more dedicated and "hardcore," like a 430 Scuderia, which doesn't have a manual offered anyway. Or, if I was super rich, I'd "buy" an FXX.

That is an option as well, although with drawbacks. Those are usually ported or bandpass (less dynamic range) AND undersized (hence will bottom out more easily) so they tend to be designed as one-note thumpers. It's really, really hard to bottom out a sealed sub (even in an undersized box) and you get fuller and more consistent dynamic range. I'd look at it as an investment that I'd move between cars. A quality sub and amp will last for a long time. You can go for a box that takes up about 1 cubic foot and mount the amp on top if you do sealed. Not much room taken up at all

The bass-in-a-box setups tend to leave me underwhelmed.

edit: That also reminds me of my fellow student who, on the 1st of May, drove around with his student overalls and cap on. Every time police spotted him he was stopped for a breathalyzer test. Was it so hard to believe that someone could've been sober on that day?

There comes some grooves on the road, and when tarmac gets this it sometimes brakes, but usually when they get in too bad shape the roat is coated with new layer of tarmac

Bad fuel consumption, not too comfortable seats, and very noisy, specially at highway speeds. know that, 'cos I have had 2 of these...

But on the otherside, in winter, no mattes how cold it is out there, it fires up like from under a palm three, and heats the interrior guite fast.
and if there is more snow on the road that car has room under it... well it plows its way trough. Ive driven on road where was just about 6-8 inches (15-20cm) snow on top of it... I didnt get stuck and that thing is only RWD

But well that car has been made to survive in siberia, It never gets so bad in here...

The seats in the first gen were more comfortable, the dash lights werent blinding, and there was no painful reflection off the central stack or the dash surface. Thats merely a few complaints. Theres also the issue of the linear directional preference indicator in the 2nd gen versus the funky shaped one in the 1st, the annoying interior mood light thing in the back seat, the poor informational display locations, and some other tidbits. The only actual improvements are non-essential, such as the backup camera and the power folding rear seats and power liftgate.

that shifter is the god among shifters, the g25 shifter is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay to easy to shift, its average at best, sequential mode is better than h pattern. I'm going to do the shifter mod to make it have more resistance, but soon the 7 speed act labs shifter will be MINE!!!
