Those responses are nothing more than pathetic and very destructive, and can be deemed one of the reasons we keep killing thousands of innocent unborn babies in America daily. Would those who feel that way make those same statements about the issues of child abuse, animal cruelty, or domestic violence? Those problems have existed for years, but should they just be shrugged off with the attitude "They are going to do it anyway"? Of course not. I can't fathom that one of those who feel there's nothing we can do about abortion would have that same opinion about other types of abuse and cruelty.

Why are many so apathetic? There are some that really don't know what happens in an abortion or do not think that a human is being killed. I believe the majority do know exactly that abortion kills an unborn human being. They've been brainwashed by the media and society that it's a very controversial subject, so being apathetic is their way of not offending anyone or making others or themselves uncomfortable. Consequently, if they say that there's nothing we can do about it or similar statements, then it lets them off the hook. They are content that they have done enough by just thinking that abortion is wrong. This apathy is also a way to not make them feel guilty for never doing anything about abortion for years.

How can this apathy be eliminated? First, ask questions to those who want to ignore the issue. Discuss with them what really happens in abortion and what is being killed. Then they should be asked if we kill a newborn for the same reasons we kill those still in the womb. They should be confronted with the question of why there's outrage over animal cruelty or child abuse but not the killing of millions of unborn humans. Odds are that they will use the same distraction techniques that the pro-abortion crowd employs to avoid the obvious facts about the truth of abortion. The focus must be the unborn life in the womb and how it is being snuffed out.

THE APATHY ABOUT ABORTION MUST END!

Subscribe in a reader

Planned Parenthood And Sex-Selective Abortions - Part II
Pope. It's an excellent short book that can easily be read in 20-30 minutes. It's the story of Emily's life set in poems, with all of the ups and downs that life throws at you. I cannot tell more than that, or I will give too much away. It can be purchased on Amazon for $9.00 in book form or only 1.99 on Kindle.

One review states: Sensational read! I was moved by this book by the beauty of the words and the
great way that the author, using few words, evokes such great emotion. The book
is written using poems, one for each year of Emily's life. The journey, though
it may be small in pages, will leave a lasting impression on the reader for a
very long time! Excellent read!

Thanks to Jill Stanek for recommending Emily's Verse.
A. Carson wrote an great book, The Intolerance of Tolerance, that explains the difference between what tolerance previously was defined as and how that definition has recently changed. Amazon gives the following summary:

Carson traces the subtle but enormous shift in the way we have come to
understand tolerance over recent years -- from defending the rights of those who
hold different beliefs to affirming all beliefs as equally valid and correct. He
looks back at the history of this shift and discusses its implications for
culture today, especially its bearing on democracy, discussions about good and
evil, and Christian truth claims.

The Intolerance of Tolerance can be purchased on Amazon for $15.54.
Obviously, the latest campaign claim from the Democrats is that the Republicans have a war on women. They are attempting to find any issue that will stick, and with even a superficial analysis, there is little chance this will be effective. The Democrats seem to forget the one small detail that half of all abortions kills a female. Hopefully, the Republicans will state this fact when countering the war on women claim.

SBA List has a new powerful ad about the war on womanhood that hits the mark. In the second video Alexa Sleadd eloquently speaks at Oregon's Rally for Life about how abortion is a war on womanhood.

I am coming up on 5 years of full-time Pro-Life ministry,
during this time reaching out to Church leaders, Pastors, and the Christian
community in general...Christian's for the most part think that you have to
choose between fulfilling the "Great Commission" and doing anything
remotely effective in engaging the abortion injustice in America. Resulting in
Church budgets and resources maxed out to fulfill
the "Great Commission" overseas...while neglecting to deal with the
abortion Holocaust in their own communities!

While we can say that we have
done a great job fulfilling the "Great Commission" overseas, we have
to be honest and realize that we have failed to go into our own communities to
reach the lost and dying for Christ...in doing so, are we neglecting to fulfill
the "Great Commission" in America? We do not need to think that we
have to choose between fulfilling the "Great Commission" and engaging
the issue of abortion...We need to think about fulfilling the "Great
Commission" in America by going to the "Least of These"
scheduled for death in our communities and bring the Gospel of Life to the
dying and bring the Gospel of hope to the desperate!

This is a false dichotomy...that
needs to be dealt with! "The fallacy of a false
dichotomy is committed when the arguer claims that his conclusion is one of
only two options, when in fact there are other possibilities." There is
another possibility…and that is…both should be a unified whole! Church, we need to deal
with the reality that we have dropped the ball in America...resulting in 54
million dead children and counting...73% of the women who had these abortions
in America claim to be Christian/Catholic Christians! We have failed to teach
and disciple a complete Christian worldview...which includes obeying all that
is commanded of us!

As an activist...and not a Pastor, I
have to add... Talking about abortion is only the first step, the fruit of
which should produce action! Instead of meeting behind four walls on Sunday
morning in a building, If Church leaders and Pastors took the Church to the
streets in front of abortion clinics in public opposition to the killing of
innocent children, prayed there, reached out with the gospel there...women and
couples would repent (change their mind, turn 180 degrees), babies would be
saved, the lost…Who need Christ, would find and receive Him, and the Church
would be relevant to a lost and dying... America. Multiply this for churches
and cities in America... and you can get the picture! We would fulfill the
“Great Commission” and end the greatest injustice of our generation…Abortion!
Stand Up and join me in

Rolley Haggard wrote a very poignant article entitled We Could End Abortion ‘Overnight’—If We Really Wanted To on the Prison Fellowship site Breakpoint. The following are excerpts from this excellent piece:

Let’s quit “straddling both sides of the fence” on this. Where do we stand? The all-revealing test is easy to perform. Just ask yourself, “If it were MY child they were going to put to death, what would I do?”

Preacher, missionary, Christian worker—if it was your child they were going to put to death under sanction of a perverse and evil law, what would you do? ...

If every Sunday, in every pulpit, in every evangelical church across America, ministers would devote one minute—ONE MINUTE—to decrying the evil of abortion on demand, such universal solidarity within the ranks of Christian leadership would accomplish two things, maybe three.

First, it would dispel ambiguity and send a clear signal to every pew-sitting believer that this is a top-line priority with God, not a fine-print codicil, not “one more good thing that Christians ought to do when they have time.”

Second, it would foster unanimity amongst all believers—at least on this one all-important issue—and enable us together to render unto God what is God’s (i.e., sufficient advocacy at the ballot box to get Roe overturned) while at the same time rendering unto Caesar what is Caesar’s—which, don’t forget, includes the advice and consent of “the governed.”

And third, maybe, just maybe the voice of conscience would become less easily ignored by those outside the church and we would see abortion on demand outlawed, not only in America, but around the world—“overnight.”

Go to Breakpoint to read the entire article.

He is right, that if the pastors would only stress to those in the pews that stopping abortion is crucial, then this evil practice could end. It doesn't necessarily take some special ministry in a church to spread the pro-life message. If the preachers would only take one minute to talk about this horror, many in the congregation would follow their leadership. It would only take a minute to nudge those who are apathetic on the issue to take action.

One of my favorite pro-life events is the fourth annual Biking For Babies, where ten bikers will ride over 1100 miles from New Orleans on May 21st and reach Chicago on May 29th. Their desire is to raise $40,000 for eight pro-life organizations in the Midwest.
A brief overview of Biking For Babies and a short video:

Biking for Babies is not about us biking however many ridiculous amount of
miles we are about to bike. That is actually a very tiny fraction of what
Biking for Babies is about. Biking for Babies is about all of us (yes I am
talking to you too) each trying to make a positive change in the world by doing
whatever small extra effort we can to help those in need. We need to help the
women dealing with unexpected pregnancies, the women dealing with post-abortion
trauma, and all the innocent defenseless babies in their mothers’ wombs. Our
small actions will lead to big consequences and all of our actions together will
lead to something pretty special.

Please help these women and babies in need however you best can. Whether
that is through prayer, donations, or service, please help out and protect the
beautiful gift of life. And whether you see the fruits of your efforts right
away or not, realize that you are making a difference.
We are safe back in Valentin's region. I have been
promising to explain to you all why we had to go back to the capitol for an
official appointment so I will get right to it.

It
started over a month ago when we started considering adopting more then just
Valentin on this trip. It really had not occurred to us to do so but we just
could not ignore the fact that so many children need homes. We again started
seeking God's guidance. And in His perfect timing we heard about "Joey". If you
have read this blog you know the struggle we had with whether or not to adopt
Valentin and how much we agonized over that decision. Now here we were thinking
about 2??? Are we crazy??? I am sure that is what some of you are thinking
now. Well, we prayed and discussed it and it really did make a lot of sense to
adopt two. This would probably be the last international adoption we could both
travel for without splitting the kids up (or being able to leave at all) plus it
is FAR less expensive to add a second child to one trip rather then coming home
and doing it all over again later. So in the end we decided to leave it all in
God's hands. So we sent a request to meet Joey and decided to just see how it
would go after we met him and Valentin and let God either open or close that
door.

So
we arrived in country and thought we would be able to see both boys files at the
same appointment. But they told us there was a problem with Joey's paperwork
and we would have to come back the next week. Hence, the second trip to the
capitol. We thought maybe this was God shutting the door. Having this second
appointment was adding more time to our stay and adding more expenses we did not
budget for. We started to question what we were doing. The appointment came
and we were told that he had just become available for international adoption
THAT DAY. That's what I call God opening a door!!!

So
today we got to meet sweet little Joey! We had very little info on him other
then he had Cerebral Palsy and did not know what to expect. He was once at the
same orphanage Valentin is in but in September 2011 he was moved to a boarding
school, praise God! When kids 'age out' of the baby house orphanages at 5 or 6
they either go to school type orphanages or to mental institutions. What a
difference between the baby house Valentin is at and the boarding school. I
don't think the little kids at Valentin's orphanage understand adoption much so
they don't think all visitors could be their mom or dad. Very different at the
boarding school. All the boys, dressed in their school uniforms, met us at the
entrance. I don't know if this was a show for us made by the staff or if these
boys were coming down hoping they would be picked. I got the sense as they made
deep eye contact with me that they longed in their heart and knew exactly what
was going on. I almost can't bear it, my heart has not stopped
hurting.

They
took us in a room with the Assistant Director, the Psychologist, the Doctor, and
his teacher and we discussed his medical needs, behavior, etc. They are not
sure he has CP but said he had "spinal birth trauma" and is diagnosed as mild
developmental delay.

And
then they brought him in and we knew in an instant, yes, this is our son. God
gave us great assurance of that! He came to me and I said "pree-vyet" (hi) and
he responded the same. I asked "kak di-la?" (how are you) and he assured me
"ha-ra-sho" (good). He was watching me take notes and asked what I was doing.
He wanted to show off his new mad writing skills. It was explained that since
coming to the boarding school he has made huge strides in development. Whereas
he was probably left in a crib with no teaching at the baby house, he is
blossoming with now having a teacher. His teacher was very proud of how much he
could do and the progress he has made. He drew his lines and circles for us
very well and showed us how he knows all his colors.

They
left us alone to play with him and it was as if we were already family! We had
a great time playing! When our facilitator came back in she asked our
decision...a million times yes! We asked her to please ask him in Russian if he
would like to come home with us. We held our breath for his answer..."Da"
(yes)! She asked him if he wanted us to be his mama and papa..."Da" said with a
smile and hugs! I am crying still!

So
now to introduce our new son:

So
for the next few days we (or just me when Tyler leaves) will be meeting the boys
separately until the director of Joey's orphanage gives us permission to take
him with us just a block away to Valentin's orphanage and I can meet with them
together. Honestly I think this is really going to help with bonding with
Valentin because he will have a brother who shares his language and as Valentin
see's Joey interacting with me I think he will become more comfortable with the
idea.

Oh,
and by the way we asked our kids at home if it would be ok to have two new
brothers and they thought that was cool...such amazing kids!

Subscribe in a reader

"I'm Pro-Life Because ...

I published a post earlier this year about a boy named Valentin in an orphanage in Eastern Europe. At the time, Jamie and Tyler Ashton were raising funds to adopt him. They are now in his country and were able to meet him. Here is their story from the site Because He adopted us first.

Day 4 Part 2: We met a
special someone today

My cup
runneth over!!!! We are madly in love with our boy and words just cannot
describe. I have been trying to figure out how to put into words the emotions
we have about today. None can express it.

Our
facilitator and driver took us to the regional sw office and we picked a
gentleman who came with us to the orphanage. I wish I could tell you who he was
or why he was there but we were so focused we didn't pay much attention to it.
For some reason he had to witness our first meeting with Valentin and will also
be at court.

The drive
to the orphanage was very interesting, a lot of muddy narrow dirt roads, old
houses and structures, lots of stray dogs, and then his orphanage tucked away in
all that. It was a smaller complex then I had imagined. His orphanage is
specifically for special needs kids and there were different "houses" for the
different special needs and levels of need. Valentin of course is in the house
with the most severe special needs. We did not get to see his room but we
assume he is still in the "laying room". The orphanage doctor came out with a
huge file and started going over it with us. Our poor little boy's body is just
riddled with issues, honestly guys it's amazing he has made it this far.
According to what they told us he has far more than just Cerebral Palsy and the
prognosis is bleak. However, nothing is ever certain and God can do whatever He
wants in Valentin's life. We have been sitting here researching all the CT and
ultrasound results and diagnoses as well as the medicines he is on and it's a
bit scary. We will explain more later, but we are just amazed at how God has
protected him especially in the circumstances he is in.

Anyway,
we were talking to the doctor when all of a sudden I looked over and here came
our beautiful son. We both cried instantly as Valentin smiled at us. I was
trying so hard to pay attention to what the doctor was saying but my heart was
taken immediately. It all happened so fast we really did not get pictures or
video of meeting him. When the doctor was finished we were told we had a few
minutes with him because it was past lunch time. Unfortunately we did not get
to spend much time with him but we enjoyed every second we got.

Because
of his prolonged institutionalization and being confined to the crib we did not
want to overwhelm him and are taking baby steps with him so he can become
comfortable with us. We wanted him to make the first contact so Tyler reached
out his hand and instantly Valentin smiled and place his hand in Tyler's. Yes,
we cried!

I made
the mistake of turning on the flash and it bothered him, he was not a fan of the
camera after that.

Tyler
showed him how to 'high-5' just one time and Valentin picked it right up.

And then
it was my turn to play with him!!! I wanted so badly to pick him up out of that
stroller and hug him as tight as I could...but baby steps. We want him to learn
to trust us and I did not want to take it too far on the first day. But man,
was it hard not to!

He was so
smiley, happy, and playful it was so exciting to see. With all the things wrong
in his little body and the environment he has to live in, it truly is amazing he
smiles at all. I felt his little arms and legs and they are so incurably stiff,
his feet are pointed and when I tried to stretch them they would not budge at
all. My heart is broken but also rejoicing at the same time if that makes
sense.

We will
be able to see him again tomorrow from 9:30-11:30. Every day after that we will
only be able to visit from 4-6 in the afternoon. They tell us we cannot visit
in the morning because he receives therapeutic massages, please Lord let that be
the truth!!!!

After we
left the orphanage we went to the notary office and officially committed to

A pro-lifer here in Albuquerque named Katie had an idea that could be applied to many Tea Party rallies around the country in the upcoming days. Katie's plan seems like a great way to spread the pro-life message. If some people get their feather's ruffled, so be it. Katie's idea for the Tea Party rally here is:

I plan to attend & hold one of our pro-life signs: 22wk aborted baby, abortion hurts women, adoption/better option....not sure which one. To make any of the signs mean something to the uninformed passer-by, I hope to have a sign made to attach to the pro-life sign. The attached sign may read something like ......Obamacare/HHS Mandate=Forced
Taxpayer's Abortions.....

Unless, there is a reason not to STAND for LIFE on April 16 (in Albuquerque), I hope you will spread this message and many will join in this Freedom Rally. I would hope that pro-life people with signs would intersperse among all participants and not just congregate as a group.

The press will be covering many of these events, so it's a great way to spread the message. I like her idea of tying it into the mandate or Obama's war on the unborn. To view the Tea Party events go to the Tea Party Patriots site. If you agree or object to the idea, please comment.

Subscribe in a reader

Greg Koukl: When The Going Gets Tough, Be A Fact-Finder
It has been four years this April since I started Stand For Life. It originally was designed to be a blog to educate people on how to defend the pro-life position. Stand For Life has expanded greatly with more emphasis on having numerous pro-life news links, adoption stories and information, testimonials, and posts about those with Down Syndrome. My original goal, which still exists, was not to focus on current news, but to have numerous informational or opinion posts that are usually relevant no matter when they are read. There are nearly 500 posts, so browse through the old ones and see if one interests you, or pass it on to someone who could be benefited by it. To commemorate the four years of Stand For Life, please watch the following video by Stephanie Gray. She is the executive director of the Canadian Center for Bio-Ethical Reform (CCBR). This encapsulates what my original mission was for this site. Stephanie educates all of us on how to best defend the pro-life position. Thanks to everyone who has visited Stand For Life. Monte Harms
Over half of the population polled say they are pro-life, but how many actually do anything about it? The amount that really does something to stop abortion is such a minuscule percentage of that group. Why aren't these "pro-life" people actively engaging in the issue, and what is the number one reason abortion continues at such a high rate in this country? The answer is fear.

Fear of the reaction to what someone will say or do when abortion is brought up stops many in their tracks. But do we ever think why that is the case? If a newborn was killed by the parents abusing it, we would have no problem discussing the horror of the act with someone else. There isn't any fear of someone's reaction to the story because as a society we deem this killing as something that should never be tolerated. The media who will run with a story such as this for days or even weeks will never discuss the baby in the womb who is killed that may have been just a month or two younger. Consequently, most who claim they are pro-life will follow the media's lead without thinking if the news outlets are correct in their assessment or not. This subject is deemed off-limits and the wall is built even higher for the "pro-lifer" to knock down. Fear sets in and as a result most feel that it's not worth the effort.

Fear is disguised in many forms:
"The subject is too controversial."
"I shouldn't impose my views on others."
"What if they already had an abortion?"
"I really don't have the time to deal with the issue."

None of these reasons would apply to a story of a newborn being killed. Would we ever say that the subject is too controversial or we can't talk about it because we shouldn't impose our views on others? Or if we could do something to stop the newborn being killed, would we say that we just don't have the time to deal with it?

Abortion should be as uncontroversial as the killing of a newborn. It's just another roadblock placed by those who support abortion to make people afraid to speak up against it. When I was younger, and even somewhat today, there was the saying that people should not discuss religion and politics. The implied message was that we aren't supposed to talk about the two topics because people will never change their views on them, and one may just lose a friend if you do. Those supporting abortion have often categorized the killing of unborns as a religious or political issue just to make those opposed fearful to do anything about it.

Is the fear someone has worth letting one unborn baby die?

If those spreading Christianity from Christ's time until now were stopped by fear, Christianity would have died.

If those opposed to slavery let fear grip them, we would still have slavery. William Wilberforce proved what can happen when one person doesn't have fear to stop something that is wrong.

If fear stopped Martin Luther King Jr. and his followers from going against the tide, just think what our society would be like now.

Of course, fear is a real emotion, but it has to be overcome when it pertains to the abortion issue. If we have fear on a scale on one side compared to the killing of 3500 unborn babies daily on the other, there is no doubt which weighs more. Fear should never win.

Subscribe in a reader
