<description>The Willamette Angel Conference investment group committed a record $465,000 to Oregon startups this week, including several with local ties. The grand prize of more than $250,000 went to Portland-­based Sonivate, which has developed a fingertip-mounted ultrasound probe that enables imaging while leaving both hands free to do work with simultaneous tactile feedback, according to Tim Berry, who headed the investment group. Berry is founder of Palo Alto Software in Eugene. In addition to the main WAC investment, the investors also agreed to invest another $210,000 in three other finalists in the competition, Berry said, Amorphyx, Design Medix and Green Zebra Grocery. Amorphyx, a Corvallis firm, has developed a method for increasing the brightness, speed and efficiency of displays such as computer screens, digital cameras, flat panel TV screens, laptops and other devices while reducing manufacturing costs. Design Medix Inc., a Portland firm led by Lynn Stevenson of Springfield, develops drugs to overcome drug&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;img src="http://d2vtpdx8ha1r7s.cloudfront.net/uploads/6/169846.jpg" /&gt;&lt;img src="http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/startuprevhub/~4/h6E7XCF08dU" height="1" width="1"/&gt;</description>
