James Gandolfini died earlier today in Italy, according to reports. The Sopranos star is believed to have suffered a heart attack, and was just 51 years old.

Deadline was the first source to report Gandolfini’s death.

He was in Italy to attend the 59th Taormina Film Festival in Sicily, and was scheduled to appear in an event this weekend with director Gabriele Muccino.

“Everyone is in tears,” a N.Y. Daily News source said.

Gandolfini has appeared in many successful TV shows and films, but he truly became a Hollywood star when he was cast as Tony Soprano in 1999.

He won three Emmy awards for The Sopranos.

The press-shy star got his start as a character actr, became famous relatively late in his career, and stayed largely out of the limelight once The Sopranos ended.

The burly Westwood, N.J. native is survived by his wife, former model Deborah Lin, who gave birth to a baby girl last October. The pair wed in 2008.

Gandolfini, who spent part of his early career supporting himself as a bartender and nightclub manager, also has a son with his ex-wife, Marcy Wudarski.

This day shall forever be known as America’s Comedy Birthday.

Not only did we get the awesome first trailer for Anchorman 2 this morning, but now we have confirmation that another long-awaited comedy sequel is finally moving forward!

After over a year of will-they-won’t-they style wavering, Dumb and Dumber To is a go!

The Farrelly Brothers announced that Universal will produce and provide the funding for the film, which may start shooting as early as this fall.

The best news? Jim Carrey, who previously dropped out of the project, is definitely back in! For now, at least.

Jeff Daniels will also reprise his role from the original film, as will Harland Williams.

If all goes according to plan, you’ll be able to see Dumb and Dumber To in theaters next summer.

New England Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez was sued earlier this month for allegedly shooting a guy in the face after an altercation at a strip clip.

Even more astonishingly, this appears to be unrelated from a homicide investigation that led police to search his home in Massachusetts this week.

According to the lawsuit, Aaron Hernandez and Alexander Bradley went to Tootsie’s Cabaret in Miami on February 13, 2013, and got into an argument.

Bradley claims they left the club and got into the same car heading to Palm Beach. During the ride, Aaron allegedly aimed his weapon at Bradley.

The gun discharged, striking Bradley in the face.

Bradley claims he suffered major injuries from the gunshot, including the loss of his right eye, and needed major surgery to reconstruct his face.

He says that the bullet initially struck him in the arm and continued traveling through his body until it struck him in the face, blowing out his eyeball.

Bradley also claims he suffered damage to his right hand and arm, which also required surgery … and that Aaron had no license to carry a gun.

Bradley demanded more than $100,000 in the lawsuit, which was thrown out due to a paperwork error, but will be re-filed today, according to TMZ.

Police reports state that the alleged victim was discovered outside of a John Deere store in Riviera Beach, Fla., on February 13 around 6:48 a.m.

The manager of the store, who found Bradley, says the victim was bleeding from his head and one of his hands, and that he pleaded for him to help.

According to the police report, Bradley instructed the John Deere employee to call 911 and warned him, “Tell them to hurry, I’m gonna bleed out.”

The employee tried to ask Bradley if he knew who it was that shot him, at which point Bradley replied, “I’m done talking … it hurts too bad.”

He never named Hernandez – to the John Deere employee or to the police responders who arrived at the scene – until filing the lawsuit this month.

It’s official: Sam Taylor-Johnson has been hired to direct Fifty Shades of Grey!

For those who don’t know, Sam, the 46-year-old director of Nowhere Boy, ended up marrying the star of that film, Aaron Johnson, who is half her age at 23.

Which kind of makes this choice perfect, given the theme of the novel (I really shouldn’t call it a novel).

Aaron Johnson, in fact, has been talked about in the past to star as Christian Grey in the film. Whether that just got more or less likely now that his wife is directing remains to be seen.

So who will play Christian and who will play Anastasia?

Many a name has been thrown around, with the likes of Alex Pettyfer and Jonathan Rhys Meyers rumored for Christian, and Felicity Jones is the latest actress rumored to be in the running for Anastasia.

Sam Taylor-Johnson beat out the likes of Gus Van Sant and Joe Wright for the directing job, which means that producers must have liked her vision, given that she is a relatively unproven director.

Vince Flynn, the prolific and best-selling author of many political thriller novels, has died.

He succumbed to prostate cancer after a two-year battle. Flynn was just 47 years old.

Flynn announced in 2011 that he was fighting Stage 3 metastatic prostate cancer.

A statement from Flynn’s publisher, Simon & Schuster, Inc., said he died Wednesday.

Flynn self-published his first book, Term Limits, in 1997, then got a publishing deal.

Term Limits became a New York Times bestseller, as did other works of his, many centering around the character Mitch Rapp, a counterterrorism operative.

His long-time agent Sloan Harris, the co-head of publications at ICM, said, “Vince Flynn was an incredibly talented storyteller and a true pioneer in publishing.”

“Despite his extraordinary talent and success, Vince never lost his common touch. He was a warm, generous and charismatic friend to everyone.”

Motion picture rights to the Mitch Rapp character have been optioned by CBS Films with the intention of making an action-thriller movie franchise.

Bruce Willis had signed on to an adaptation of American Assassin to play Rapp’s mentor and the hope had been to get Chris Hemsworth to play Rapp.

He often rooted Rapp in real events.

Rapp’s motivation for fighting terrorism originally sprang from the death of his high school sweetheart in the 1988 bombing of the Pan Am flight 103. 

One year later, the character was recruited into the CIA as an unconventional operative who is willing to push the envelope to accomplish his goals.

Flynn’s novels have been praised for their extensive research and prescient warnings about the rise of Islamic radical fundamentalism and terrorism.

His books have been read by current and former presidents, heads of state and intelligence professionals and are admired for their verisimilitude and imagination.

Justin Bieber may want to avert his eyes before he reads this, hops in his Ferrari and terrorizes the streets of Calabasas at highway speeds in a fit or rage.

Selena Gomez and Ed Sheeran are totally hitting it!

“They are hooking up!” says one insider, noting that the matchmaker was none other than Gomez’s close pal Taylor Swift, currently touring with Sheeran.

We all remember Taylor Swift’s reaction when she last saw Selena and Justin kissing, so it’s little surprise she’s looking to steer Gomez elsewhere!

As for Sheeran, the 22-year-old singer said he was single at the MuchMusic Video Awards, but when asked about being set up with Selena, he responded:

“I wouldn’t complain.”

Guess not!

The attraction for the 20-year-old Gomez, per a second source, is the U.K. native’s maturity compared to that of the increasingly erratic Justin Bieber.

“She got sick of having to take care of Justin like he was her child,” says a source quoted by Us Weekly. “This is a nice escape from the drama.”

The final straw was reportedly Justin’s flirting with Miley Cyrus, though that report was not confirmed. Whatever the reason, they are no longer a thing.

A friend close to Selena says Gomez and Bieber “are totally done” and “not even hooking up anymore,” while she is now “having fun” with Sheeran.

“They are friends with an open mind,” another insider says, likely meaning basically that they enjoy pawing one another vigorously without labels yet.

“He’s sensitive and sweet and a lot deeper than Justin.”

Given his behavior lately, that’s not saying a whole lot … but here’s hoping Selena and Ed, if in fact they are hooking up, are having a great time of it.

Warner Bros. seems to have done it right with The Lego Movie.

The idea of a Lego movie may sound ridiculous (is it just a kid making a really bad tower for 90 minutes?), but the excellent cast and fun story look very promising.

George Zimmer, the founder and longtime face of Men’s Wearhouse, has been fired by the company. Guess they didn’t like the way he looked as CEO!

Zimmer started MW back in 1973, and appeared in countless ads reciting his famous tagline, “You’re going to like the way you look, I guarantee it.”

The company announced the abrupt termination in a brief statement just hours before the company postponed its annual shareholders meeting.

“The board expects to discuss with Mr. Zimmer the extent, if any, and terms of his ongoing relationship with the company,” MW said, declining any more comment.

Zimmer, the 64-year-old founder and public face of the discount apparel chain, served as CEO from 1991-2011, when he was named executive chairman.

According to the company’s latest proxy, he holds a 3.5 percent stake and that he made nearly $2 million in pay, bonuses and other compensation in 2012.

Men’s Wearhouse will still owe Zimmer $250,000 annually for four years under a licensing deal for his image in advertising and marketing efforts.

He’s also due termination pay and benefits valued at $2.7 million.

We guarantee that’s not a bad golden parachute, so to speak.
