            <description><![CDATA[<p>Grace E. Gorringe, 94, of Pittsford, Mich., formerly of Fayette, Ohio, died May 22, 2013, at Bixby Hospital in Adrian, Mich.</p>
<p>She was born April 30, 1919, in Alvordton, Ohio, to the late James and Cora Mae (Whitmore) D’Lamater. She married A. Harris Gorringe on Jan. 21, 1942, in Detroit, Mich., and he preceded her in death on March 22, 1983.</p>
<p>Grace was a 1936 graduate of Gorham Fayette High School. After high school, she worked as a quality inspector for N.A. Woodworth in Detroit, Mich., in contribution to the war effort. While primarily a housewife, she also worked at the former Red &amp; White Store in Fayette for 12 years. Grace enjoyed sewing and was a member of the United Methodist Church in Hudson, Mich., and formerly a member of the Fayette United Methodist Church.</p>
<p>Grace is survived by a son, Curtis (and Joy) Gorringe of Fort Wayne, Ind.; a daughter, Maridell McKnight of Pittsford; daughter-in-law, Debra Gorringe of Swanton, Ohio; two brothers, Robert (and Doris) D’Lamater of Albuquerque, N.M., and Earl (and Joyce) D’Lamater of Bradenton, Fla.; three sisters, Dorothy Gorringe of West Unity, Ohio, Marvel Schockey of Defiance, Ohio, and Barbara Johnston of Wauseon, Ohio; six grandchildren, Jennifer, Mark, Amanda, Alex, Christopher, and Robyn; nine great-grandchildren, Jed, Kayla, Jade, Jayna, Chance, Elaina, Emily, Chloe and Reagan; and several nieces and nephews.</p>
<p>In addition to her parents and husband, Harris, she was preceded in death by a son, Wayne Gorringe; a brother, Wayne D’Lamater; and a son-in-law, Bob McKnight.</p>
<p>A memorial service for is planned at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 25, at Eagle Funeral Home-Barrett Chapel in Fayette with Pastor Fred Neumann officiating. Interment will follow in Pleasant View Union Cemetery in Fayette. Visitation is scheduled one hour preceding the service.</p>
<p>Those planning an expression of sympathy may direct memorial donations in honor of Grace to the United Methodist Women of Hudson.</p>]]></description>

            <description><![CDATA[<p>Harvey J. Beaverson, 86, of rural Fayette, Ohio, died May 22, 2013, at Fairlawn Haven Nursing Home in Archbold, Ohio, where he had been a resident for a few weeks.</p>
<p>He was born Feb. 26, 1927, in Fulton County, Ohio, the son of Earl C. and Ilva V. (Snyder) Beaverson. Harvey married Nancie Falor on June 8, 1952, in Swanton, Ohio, and she survives.</p>
<p>Harvey lived in Fayette since his early youth. He served in Korea as a member of the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. Harvey had a sincere passion for farming, and his life-long career included both livestock and crop farming. He was a member of the Lauber Hill Reformed Mennonite Church.</p>
<p>In addition to his wife, Harvey is survived by three children, Beverly (and Larry) Ledyard of Wauseon, Ohio, Daryl (and Joni) Beaverson of Morenci, Mich., and Paul (and Jeri Sue) Beaverson of Fayette; two sisters, Rosemary (and Robert) Beehler of Ontario, Canada, and Eileen Turner of Texas; 10 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.</p>
<p>He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Marion, Jon and James.</p>
<p>Funeral services are scheduled at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 25, at Lauber Hill Reformed Mennonite Church near Pettisville, Ohio, with Alan Bankert and Jim Basinger officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation is scheduled from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday at Eagle Funeral Home-Barrett Chapel in Fayette.</p>
<p>Memorial donations are suggested to the Lauber Hill Cemetery Fund.</p>]]></description>

            <description><![CDATA[<p>Kenneth Sampson of Wisconsin died May 19, 2013, from complications associated with Alzheimer’s disease.</p>
<p>Ken grew up in Morenci, Mich., the only child of Raymond and Iva Sampson. He put himself through Hillsdale College and Michigan State University, and graduated with a degree in dairy science. He married Judy Lockage soon after graduation, and they started a life together in Moorhead, Minn. Judy survives.</p>
<p>The couple moved to Green Bay where they raised their children. Ken spent his whole career in the cheese industry, working his way up to vice president of numerous cheese companies in Wisconsin. He sat on the Board of Directors of the United Way of both, Green Bay and Monroe. Prior to and after retirement, Ken helped Judy with her Christmas store businesses.</p>
<p>Ken’s passions included the Green Bay Packers and downhill skiing, as well as spending time with his grandchildren.</p>
<p>Besides his wife, Ken is survived by children Mike (and Missy), Dan (and Melanie) and Jenny (and Jim) Schiavo; six grandchildren, Max, Jacob, Matt, Maggie, Nicole and Saskia; a sister-in-law, Sandra (and John) Moore; and a cousin, Molly.</p>
<p>He was preceded in death by his parents.&nbsp;</p>
<p>Funeral services are scheduled at 11:30 a.m. May 25 at Gunderson Oregon Funeral Home, 1150 Park St., Oregon, WI. Visitation is planned at the funeral home from 5 to 7 p.m. May 24, and from 10:30 a.m. until the time of the service on May 25. A light lunch will follow the service.</p>

<p><span> He was born Sept. 7, 1947, in Morenci, Mich., the son of Emil and Margaret (McCreery) Devloo. </span></p>
<p><span>David is survived by three sisters, Mary (and George) Mitchell of Toledo, Ohio, Maggie (and John) Frank of Perrysburg, Ohio, and Liz (and Lowell) Robison of Waldron; one brother, Dan Devloo of Waldron;and several nieces and nephews.</span></p>
<p><span>He was preceded in death by his parents.</span></p>
<p><span>Graveside services are planned at 1 p.m. Friday, May 17, at Calvary Cemetery in Hudson, with Fr. Joseph Krupp officiating. Visitation is scheduled from 11 a.m. until the time of service at Eagle Funeral Home in Hudson.</span></p>]]></description>

            <description><![CDATA[<p>James B. Borton, 95, of Wauseon, Ohio, died May 15, 2013, in Fulton Manor, Wauseon.</p>
<p>Jim was born Aug. 20, 1917, in Chesterfield Township, Ohio, to James Leo and Margaret (Boyes) Borton, on the family farm where he lived his entire life.&nbsp;</p>
<p>He was a 1935 graduate of Chesterfield-Dover High School. He married Gladys M. Rupp on June 22, 1941, and she survives.</p>
<p>Jim was a lifelong farmer and served 30 years as a Chesterfield Township clerk and trustee. He was a quiet man, but known for his mechanical skills and quick wit. He attended Tedrow United Methodist Church.</p>
<p>In addition to his wife, Jim is survived by two sons, Ronald (and Janet) Borton, of Wooster, Ohio, and Dennis (and Pat) Borton of Roxboro, N.C.; a daughter, Juanita (and Richard) Gunn of Ida, Mich.; nine grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.</p>
<p>He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Martha Abbott, of Melvindale, Mich.</p>
<p>Funeral services are planned at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 18, at Tedrow United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Kevin Cochran officiating. Interment will follow in Tedrow Cemetery. A fellowship luncheon will follow the interment services in the church. Visitation is scheduled from&nbsp; 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Friday at the Edgar-Grisier Funeral Home, Wauseon, Ohio, and from 10-11 a.m. Saturday at the church.</p>

            <description><![CDATA[<p>Jeanette Joy Cox, 90, of Fayette, Ohio, died May 11, 2013, at Mercy Hospital of Defiance, Ohio.</p>
<p>She was born Aug. 2, 1922, in Lenawee County, Mich., to Lenneth S. and Ruth (Keller) Schoonover. She married Denver Glen Cox on July 7, 1945, in Edon, Ohio, and he preceded her in death May 14, 1990.</p>
<p>Jeanette was a 1941 graduate of Morenci High School. She was a member of the Fayette Christian Church-Disciples and served as a Sunday School teacher at the former United Brethren Church in Fayette. She enjoyed bowling, reading and playing cards, and was an avid Detroit Tigers baseball fan.</p>
<p>Jeanette is survived by two sons, Allen Cox of Fayette, and Stan (and Mary) Cox of Defiance; six grandchildren, Heather, Hope, Hillary, Noah, Josh and Zach; and six great-grandchildren, Brendan, Chloe, Xzavier, Alyias, Olivia and Graysen.</p>
<p>In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Michael Cox; three sisters, Garnet Keller, Betty Marzolf and Helen Kohler; and her brother, Arthur Schoonover.</p>
<p>Funeral services are planned at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 15, at Eagle Funeral Home-Barrett Chapel in Fayette, with Rev. Gene Sugg officiating. Interment will follow in Pleasant View Union Cemetery. Visitation is scheduled from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday.</p>

            <description><![CDATA[<p>Arnold Vincent Reister, 80, of rural Hillsdale, Mich., died May 9, 2013, at his home following a two-year illness.</p>
<p>He was born Oct. 5, 1932, in Ogden Township, Mich., the son of August V. and Hope I. (Case) Reister.</p>
<p>He graduated from Morenci High School in 1951 where he lettered in all four sports. He was a member of the 1948 football team that was considered the best in the area. &nbsp;</p>
<p>Arnold married his high school sweetheart, Janis Williamson, on Dec. 1, 1951, in Adrian, and she survives.</p>
<p>Arnold was a farmer all his life in Lenawee and Hillsdale counties. He loved working with his registered Holstein cows and received the Michigan Holstein Association Master Breeder Award in 2012. His herd has had the highest rolling herd average in Hillsdale County for the past six years. Showing animals at the Lenawee and Hillsdale Fairs, as well as many state and 4H shows with his children and grandchildren, brought him great pleasure.</p>
<p>In his earlier years he played baseball on several city leagues and always followed the Detroit Tigers. He was a member and officer of the Morenci Jaycees, Gorman Jr. and Fairfield Granges, Lenawee and Hillsdale County Dairy Associations, and the Congregational Church of Morenci.</p>
<p>He is survived by his wife, Janice; children Mark (and Peggy) Reister, Debra Reister and Kevin Reister; four grandchildren, Marcia, Nicolas and Hope Reister and Nadia ElAnani; and one great-grandson; Evan ElAnani, all of Hillsdale County; a sister; Myra Fuhs of Adrian; a brother, Allen (and Sharon) Reister of Jonesville, Mich.; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.</p>
<p>He was preceded in death by his parents; a step-father, Wilson Sawyer; and a brother, Rolland Reister.</p>
<p>At Arnold’s request, cremation has taken place. A memorial service is planned at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, May 18, at the Brown-Van Hemert Funeral Home in Hudson, with Pastor Terry Bobzien officiating. Visitation is scheduled from 10-11:30 a.m. Saturday, prior to the service.</p>

            <description><![CDATA[<p>Victor J. Kutzley, 88, of Palm Beach Gardens, Fla., died April 21, 2013.</p>
<p>Victor was born July 22, 1924, in Morenci, Mich. He was a World War II veteran and worked for more than 40 years as an engineer at <span>WCMH Channel 4 in Columbus and WPTV Channel 5 in West Palm Beach.</span></p>
<p>Vic was an avid fisherman and a member of IBEW and SBE.</p>
<p>Vic is survived by Brennie, his wife of 34 years, and children Carol (and Marty) Stroemer, Curt Kutzley and Craig Kutzley, all of Columbus; step-daughters Linda Darling of Palm Beach Gardens, Wendy Lonzo of North Carolina and Chrissy (and Jeff) Nohr of Colorado; eight grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews and extended family members.</p>
<p>He was preceded in death by his brother, Howard, and sisters, Bernita Schmidt, Dorothy Davis and Irene Figgins (Lichtenwald).&nbsp;</p>
<p>A memorial service is planned at 3 p.m. June 15 at Steve and Terry Kutzley’s pond.</p>]]></description>

            <description><![CDATA[<p>Marjorie Orban, 91, of Tucson, Ariz., died May 5, 2013.</p>
<p>Marge was born and raised in Michigan, the daughter of Henry and Winifred Myerholtz. She attended Morenci High School and graduated from Michigan Agricultural College (now Michigan State University). She followed in her mother’s and grandmother’s footsteps and became a teacher.&nbsp; She taught in Manchester and Cass City, Mich. In 1947 she married Eugene Orban, and within a few years established a home in North Morenci. &nbsp;</p>
<p>Married for 60 years, they raised 10 children and also sponsored refugee families through Catholic Social Services.&nbsp; As the children grew older, she returned to teaching. She taught at Morenci Area High School until she retired, and remained in contact with many former students for more than 30 years.&nbsp;</p>
<p>Marge and Gene moved to Prescott, Ariz., where she taught at Yavapai Community College. She also earned a degree from New York University during “retirement” as she was still passionate about education. They moved to Albuquerque, N. M., and enjoyed flower gardening, reading and extensive traveling. She spent her later years in Tucson.</p>
<p>Marge is survived by children James, Liz, Susan, Thomas, Deborah, Rebecca, Cecelia, John and Paul Orban, and Margaret Walker.</p>
<p>She was preceded in death by her husband and a grandson, James Clay Orban.</p>
<p>She will be buried at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, Mich.</p>]]></description>

            <description><![CDATA[<p>Kenneth Joseph Betts, 90, of Frankfort, Mich., died May 3, 2013, at Benzie Medical Care Facility in Frankfort.</p>
<p>He was born Aug. 21, 1922, to Gertrude and William Betts of Montréal, Quebec. He married Iris Kunkle on Aug. 20, 1949, and she preceded him in death.</p>
<p>Ken served in the Royal Canadian Air Force in the European theater during World War II, servicing Halifaxes, Lancasters and Spitfires. After the war Ken moved to Lansing, Mich., and in 1954 he became a naturalized U.S. citizen.</p>
<p>Ken loved to build and fix things and this passion lives on in many people he knew throughout his life. He was a cheerful, hardworking and generous man with a unique sense of humor. His warmth, easy manner, and wit will be missed by his family and friends.</p>
<p>Ken is survived by a son, Steve; and a sister, Marjorie Simon.</p>
<p>A wake is scheduled from noon until 7 p.m the weekend of May 25 and 26, at the farm of Ken’s friend Mike, 1321 Barry Rd. in Williamston, Mich., where he spent many happy hours cutting firewood, throwing tennis balls for the dog and sitting in the sun.</p>
<p>Memorial contributions may be made to the Benzie County Medical Care Facility.&nbsp;</p>]]></description>
