Last night, Leslie Feist, who has built a fantastic legacy as part of Broken Social Scene and with her solo music as Feist, was inducted into the Canadian Songwriters Hall Of Fame at Massey Hall in Toronto, ON, Canada. The night also honoured '80s rock band the Tragically Hip, Mike Reno and Paul Dean of rock band Loverboy, and pop singer-songwriter Roch Voisine.

For the cold open, Ramy Youssef returned as Zohran Mamdani. The rest of the Knicks starting five (Karl-Anthony Towns, Mikal Bridges, OG Anunoby, and Josh Hart) also appeared in Brunson's monologue.

Chuck Varga, GWAR’s Sexecutioner, Dead At 68

GWAR founding member Chuck Vargo, known as Sexecutioner, has passed away. Varga was battling cancer; the band set up a blood donation campaign in April and then launched a fundraiser in June to help Varga and his wife Bambi pay for medical bills. His death was announced on Sept. 25 by GWAR bassist Casey Orr aka Beefcake The Mighty. Varga was 68.

People who thought good kid, m.A.A.d city was the best album of the 2010s suddenly realize that they can’t have a classic album without voicemail recordings from their aunty or a song where they’re “more vulnerable than ever.” If the church choir on his new album-opening song “Mercy” weren’t enough of an indication, a recent interview with Billboard makes it more than a little clear that AZ Chike was trying to make one of those albums.

Remi Wolf – “I Won’t Cry”

Palo Alto singer Remi Wolf started off as a kind of alt-pop artist, but she seems to be inching ever-closer to actual pop music. Wolf's new album Mud comes out next month, and we've already posted the singles "Twiggy" and "Bottle." Today, she shares "I Won't Cry," a big, bruised old-school ballad with some country and some Southern rock in its DNA. It's got a big, melodramatic chorus, and she really sinks her teeth into it. Wolf co-produced "I Won't Cry" with Jack DeMeo and Solomonphonic, and the three of them co-wrote it with Gigi Grombacher and Jamie McLaughlin. In a press release, she says:

In 1976, four kids at Dublin's Mount Temple Comprehensive School got together to start a band. The 14-year-old Larry Mullen., Jr. posted that he was looking for musicians on the school's notice board, and he and some of his classmates had their first practice in his kitchen on Sep. 25. The young band called themselves Feedback and then the Hype before changing their name to U2. Within about a decade, they became one of the biggest acts on the planet. Yesterday, U2 announced their new album Carnaval de Luz. Today, on the 50th anniversary of their formation, they played a secret gig at the school where it all started.

A week ago, on Sept. 18, Gnarls Barkley announced that they'd return to the stage after 18 years with the To Whom It Still Concerns US and UK Tour, with guests Gallant and Duckwrth. When the tour was first announced, Billboard either confirmed or assumed Danger Mouse's involvement. But in a social media post Wednesday, CeeLo clarified that Danger Mouse will not be taking part in the tour.

Soon afterward, she admitted inconsistencies in her story and dropped her lawsuit, and Jay-Z sued her, calling the accusation "a false, malicious story." Now, Jay's accuser has recanted her allegations completely, saying that she has never even met the rapper.

When they popped up a few years back with a pair of accomplished EPs, Starcleaner Reunion were an alluring, disorienting proposition. The band name alone raised questions: Reunion, you say? What exactly is a starcleaner? The surreal cartoons that graced their records gave the band a distinctive visual language. And then there was the music itself, startlingly sophisticated post-Stereolab Euro chic somehow emerging from suburban New Jersey. It was as though this band was dislodged from time and space, and we were getting to listen in on their hi-fi transmissions from just slightly outside our common reality.
