It’s Friday afternoon, and that means it’s time to take a look at all the wonderful and terrible comments that have been posted on Stereogum over the past week. Lil Wayne – “My Homies Still” (Feat. Big Sean)

Lil Wayne has a knack for taking other rapper’s hits and repurposing them for his use — see “John” which borrowed heavily from Rozay’s “I’m Not A Star” — and his new single, “My Homies Still,” borrows from Big Sean’s “A$$.” This instance is less of a mirror image, though, as Wayne’s only really lifting the lyrical hook “Go stupid, go stupid;” the track’s cavernous beat (produced by StreetRunner & Sarom) is another thing entirely. Tracking Classic NYC Album Art

Visual News reports the existence of a website called PopSpots, where the real estate agent Bob Egan figures out the exact New York locations where various classic album-cover shots were taken. And Egan doesn’t just find the basic location; he finds the exact spot, often superimposing the album-cover image over its current-day location. He’s done it with things like Bob Dylan’s The Freewheelin’ Bob Dylan and Highway 61 Revisited, Neil Young’s After The Gold Rush, the West Side Story soundtrack, and the Who’s The Kids Are Alright, and the amount of detective work and Google Earth skills required to pull these images off is just nuts. Axl Bans Fans From Wearing Slash Shirts To GN’R Shows

I have no idea how it’s even possible to enforce something like this — or where one would get a Slash T-shirt in the first place — but NME reports that fans weren’t allowed to wear Slash T-shirts to last night’s Guns N’ Roses Show at London’s O2 Arena. The magazine quotes 18-year-old fan James Revell as saying that security guards asked him to remove his Slash shirt as he was on his way into the show: “I believe they asked me to do this because Axl Rose has some problem with Slash and if he saw me wearing the shirt he might have stormed off stage.” Axl Rose, everybody! Still finding scary new ways to express his own manic resentments!

We don’t know too much about the mysterious synthpop duo Sunless ’97, but we do know that they’ll soon release their new single “Body Weather” b/w “Azul.” And we have both glimmering, drone-happy tracks streaming below. That sax solo on “Body Weather” is truly something to hear.

Hear Hot Chip Cover Prince

Hot Chip stopped by Zane Lowe’s BBC 1 show for a live session recently, performing tracks from their forthcoming In Our Heads as well as covering Prince’s 1987 hit “If I Was Your Girlfriend.” The cover happens at the 1:19:50 mark at BBC’s website (via NJ Underground). In Our Heads is out 6/12 on Domino.

Laetitia Sadier – “Find Me The Pulse Of The Universe”

A couple of years ago, Stereolab’s Laetitia Sadier went solo with her album The Trip, and now she’s getting set to follow it up with a new one called Silencio! The first taste we’ve heard from the album is a blithe glide of a song called “Find Me The Pulse Of The Universe,” which has some of the old cosmopolitan sway that Sadier so often brought to Stereolab. Jack White, Pokey LaFarge And The South City Three @ Wiltern, Los Angeles 5/31/12

Having performed with the Buzzards the night before, Jack White strutted out the Peacocks for the final show of his two night sold out run at the Wiltern in support of his number one album Blunderbuss. Propelled by the fierce drumming of Carla Azar of Autolux, Jack and his Peacocks ripped through a twenty song set visiting songs from the Dead Weather, White Stripes, and Raconteurs. Third Man-approved Pokey LaFarge and the South City Three provided support. Check out the blue tinged pictures above and the setlist below.
