Andy Shauf Announces The Party (10th Anniversary Edition) Feat. Previously Unreleased Tracks

Canadian treasure Andy Shauf made the leap to ANTI- and enjoyed a big breakthrough a decade ago with The Party, a concept album full of songs written from the perspective of different people at the same gathering. The Saskatchewan singer-songwriter is celebrating that 10-year milestone this fall with a deluxe reissue featuring previously unreleased tracks. The Party (10th Anniversary Edition) is out two months from now and will feature a slew of demos plus three finished tracks that were left off the original LP. The bonus material will be available separately as a standalone EP called the afterparty.

(I mean that both metaphorically and, usually, literally. If you see a stage barrier, you might not be at a hardcore show.) Anyone sufficiently motivated by music and/or bloodlust can get in there and fuck something up, as long as they are willing to get fucked up in turn. That's the beauty of it — friends and strangers crashing into each other and/or spinkicking in each other's general direction. You're a part of it just by virtue of your presence in the room.

Then, in 2024, she shared that Michael Stipe and Will Sergeant were featured on it. Today, she offered another update on the album, while also explaining the health struggles she endured in 2019 that almost resulted in her death.

I have no idea if "toe" will be on there or not, but if it is, the album will be quite different from the rest of this band's work.

The LA-based singer-songwriter Anna St. Louis has long been a fixture of the greater Woodsist universe, a loose coalition of rootsy, artsy underground acts centered on the upstate New York psych-folk band Woods. Jarvis Taveniere is a core member of Woods who has collaborated with lots of great artists over the years. So it's exciting but not especially surprising that the two of them have teamed up to form a new band called Panamint. What is surprising is their early choice of repertoire.

That's the song that introduced Rakim to the world, and his hard-nosed but quietly tricky style instantly made him one of history's greatest rappers and put him in top-dive discussions for eternity. After a very long absence and a whole lot of nostalgia-circuit touring, Rakim returned with 2024's G.O.D.’s Network (Reb7rth), his first album in 15 years. Rakim followed it with The Rebirth last year, and now he's announcing a collaborative album that he made with two other great veteran rappers who adapted their own versions of his unflappable style.

Tokyo’s Summer Sonic Festival Teases Radiohead For 2027

Radiohead returned to the stage in late 2025 for the first time in seven years, playing 20 shows broken up into a series of four-night residencies in major European cities. During the promo campaign for his new solo album Blue Morpho, Ed O'Brien mentioned Radiohead's tentative plans to repeat this method of touring going forward, potentially doing 20 shows a year, visiting a different continent each time, starting in 2027. He's since hedged a bit, saying 20 shows is more like the maximum number of shows they'd play in a year. But it does seem like the band has plans to hit the road next year.

The Florida SoundCloud-rap renegade emerged about a decade ago, and I was pretty fascinated with the ways that he incorporated, metal, hardcore, goth, and industrial into what he was doing, even before he got his rap name tattooed across his forehead. Ghostemane was once in a group with Lil Peep, and he's got collaborations with people like $uicideboy$, Clams Casino, and HEALTH on his resume. But Ghostemane hasn't released an album since 2020's Anti-Icon, and he has been entirely absent for at least a few years. Today, he returns with a new single.

He's shared the title track and gorgeous video (visual poem?) starring drag legend Sasha Colby and AMC icon Nicole Kidman. Kidman and Sivan previously worked together in the 2018 film Boy Erased. Sivan worked on the track with Leland, George Daniel, Jack Antonoff, and Styalz Fuego.

Back in 2016, a young Bandcamp-native singer-songwriter named Sophie Allison released For Young Hearts, her official debut EP as Soccer Mommy. Our former colleague James Rettig was all over that shit. You may think of yourself as a Soccer Mommy OG, but James was the earliest of adopters — so early, in fact, that his post about For Young Hearts alludes to previous collections songs for the recently sad, which has since disappeared from Bandcamp, and the two-part songs from my bedroom. Given the existence of those releases, one could make the case that For Young Hearts was not really Soccer Mommy's debut, but it was the breakout release that landed her on our 2016 Best New Bands list, a remarkable time capsule that also includes heavy hitters like Japanese Breakfast, Mannequin Pussy, Moses Sumney, Noname, Pinegrove, and Show Me The Body.
