New indie-pop supergrou alert! Since 2012, Kerry Alexander and Chris Hoge have been the main members of the cult-favorite Minneapolis group Bad Bad Hats. Last year, they released a 10th-anniversary version of their debut album Psychic Reader, with a bonus LP over other bands covering their stuff. Other bands were down to participate, and the list of contributors included Ratboys, the Front Bottoms, Hippo Campus, and Party Nails, the one-woman project from LA-based musician Elena Carroll. Now, Alexander, Hoge, and Carroll all have a new band together.

On Wednesday night, Knick Cave — sorry. My head is elsewhere this morning. Nick Cave. You know I saw Nick Cave play Madison Square Garden once? The only time that the White Stripes played the world's most famous arena was in 2007, and they booked Cave's band Grinderman and the late country legend Porter Wagoner as their openers. That was a good night at the Garden. It probably wasn't as good as last night at the Garden, but it was still good.

Rush really are switching up their setlists on their reunion tour. Geddy Lee and Alex Lifeson, the two surviving members of the pioneering Canadian prog-rock trio, recently headed out on their first run of dates since drummer Neil Peart died in 2020. Sunday's tour opener at LA's Kia Forum included lots of live rarities, as well as appearances from Aimee Mann, Paul Rudd, and Jason Segel. Last night, for the second gig of the tour, Rush played all of "2112" for the first time since 1997.

They had so much time. Doors opened around 7 p.m., and A$AP Rocky, on his first proper tour in seven years, didn't perform until nearly three hours later. If you were there from the beginning, you had to do something to fill up that time. You could stare at your phone until it ran out of batteries, you could get into a fight with someone, or you could play duck duck goose.

The Queens-based musician Nick Hakim has a warm, personal sound that doesn't fit neatly into any genre categories. He's a soul singer, more or less, but there's a psychedelic, lo-fi indie rock sensibility to his music. Hakim is also a prolific collaborator. Since the release of 2022's Cometa, his last solo album, Hakim has contributed heavily to records from peers like Adrianne Lenker, Miley Cyrus, Beth Orton, and Show Me The Body, among tons of others. He produced one of the best tracks on the new Wiki album, which comes out Friday. Now, Hakim is ready to come back with a new LP of his own.
