Petey Pablo's Timbaland-produced 2001 anthem "Raise Up" is almost certainly the greatest song ever written about taking your shirt off, twisting it around your hand, and spinning it like a helicopter. Over the past quarter century, Petey Pablo's career has been through peaks and valleys, including a two-year stay in federal prison for the time he tried to bring a stolen gun on board a commercial flight. But "Raise Up" has never gone away. Just this year, it's been heavily referenced on songs from A$AP Rocky and Pablo's fellow North Carolina rapper J. Cole. Now, "Raise Up" could become North Carolina's official state hip-hop song.

M.I.A.'s descent into right-wing absurdity is nothing new. Back in 2022, she compared Alex Jones' lies about the Sandy Hook mass shooting to "every celebrity pushing vaccines." In 2024, she went on the far-right conspiracy theorist's show to launch apparel that supposedly blocks 5G signals. Last month, she dropped her "gospel" album M.I.7 and introduced a new clothing line, this one designed to block 10G signals. Now, after some ill-received stage banter at a Kid Cudi show in Dallas, she's gotten herself kicked off of a big summer tour.

Britney Spears Pleads Guilty To Lesser Charge In DUI Case

Alex Ligertwood, the Scottish musician best known for a number of stints as the lead singer of Santana, has passed away. As TMZ points out, Ligertwood's daughter announced his passing in a social media post. Ligertwood died in his sleep at home in Santa Monica on Saturday. No cause of death has been reported. Halifax Venue Cancels Sun Kil Moon Show After Backlash

Mark Kozelek, who performs as Sun Kil Moon and previously led the Red House Painters, faced sexual misconduct allegations from at least 10 women in investigative reports published at Pitchfork in 2020 and 2021. Kozelek has consistently denied the allegations against him, and he has continued to tour and record. This September, he's scheduled to play shows across Canada. The promoter, Modo Live, turned off comments on the April 14 Instagram post announcing the tour. But people in Halifax had some feedback on the decision to bring Kozelek to town.
