Dear readers, I regret to inform you that, as of today, Stereohyped in its current incarnation is going to the wayside. With much regret, we will no longer be publishing as a standalone blog. I won't get into the why – pick up a newspaper and you'll get a hint – and will instead say thank you for being a part of the all-too-short life (about a year and a half) of this blog.

On the plus side, what Stereohyped was all about – reporting news and entertainment concerning the black community — will continue on Jossip's eponymous site starting ASAP. (There are some changes going on over there, too.) I hope you'll continue to keep up with us there, where I will now be managing editor for all of Jossip's publishing.

Again, thanks so much for being part of the Stereohyped community. We'll miss checking in with you throughout the day as much as you'll miss us. Happy holidays.

I believe the Brits call it "poppycock." Today, in a Times of London article titled "Arrogant and joyless: Obama's take on Britain?," so much poppycock.

In "Arrogant," columnist Ben Macintyre attempts to make the case that Barack Obama bears a slight grudge against the British for the time they imprisoned and tortured his Kenyan rebel grandfather decades ago in Africa. Macintyre does this by cherry-picking quotes from Obama's book, Dreams of My Father. Here's his "evidence":

Mr Obama's diplomatic remarks about Britain have been pallid and tactful; it is the more unguarded corners of his writing that offer revealing flickers of another attitude. In his memoir Dreams from My Father Obama devotes just six words to describing his first visit to Britain: “I took tea by the Thames.” The British passengers on the plane wear “ill-fitting blazers”; the one sitting next to him, an acne-ridden Mancunian, he finds aggravatingly superior, referring to the “Godforsaken countries” of Africa.

On safari in Kenya, he talks to an English doctor with “pasty blond hair” who has quit Britain to live in Africa. “England seems terribly cramped,” the man says. “The British have so much more, but seem to enjoy it less.”

Oh, gaaaawd! Were you able to spot the bullshit in the excerpt above? It's this: aside from a couple cracks about the English's light hair and foppish tight clothes, anything bad Obama wrote about the British empire was the fault of Brits themselves. You can't call a person bitter when said person is actually quoting other, bitter people.

Obama doesn't hate you, Mr Macintyre, I do. You and your lazy, baseless reporting.

Literally threes of people showed up to the United States Supreme Court today to protest Barack Hussein Obama and support the Court's decision to look into the authenticity of his birth certificate. With this sort of MASSIVE nationwide support, it's just a matter of time before Obama's flimsy White House of cards, built on hope and lies, comes tumbling down.

Your boy Diddy wants to be an actor, you guys. Specifically, an actor hired to portray a suave man of mystery alongside fictional British misogynist James Bond. Puff thinks he'd be great playing an international spy in the next Bond flick, despite the fact that he's a goofy, temperamental caricature of a man, not nearly graceful enough to pull off sly double agent with any sort of aplomb.

Of course, his main flaw is egomania, and so he has no idea how obnoxious he actually is. Thus, he's using interviews for his new cologne, I Am King (THE BALLS ON THIS GUY!), to make his case for the casting, which will never, ever come. His main point? This is what NATURE demands:

It's a natural thing. It's organic. I think it would be a tragedy for the next James Bond not to be black, and I think the next Superman should be black. We are like the coolest creatures on the face of the Earth.

Ha ha ha! What an embarrassing man he is. Does he not know how video cameras and tape recorders work when he says this shit?

… the decline in auto manufacturing jobs has already had a disproportionately devastating effect on African Americans. If the car companies crumble who do you think will be at the bottom of the pile? … with the decentralization of manufacturing and the general decline in the auto industry in recent years, African Americans have lost an important lifeline to the American Dream. A report by the Center for Economic and Policy Research found that in 1979, 2.1% of all African American workers were employed in automobile manufacturing. By 2004, this share had fallen by more than one-third to 1.3% while declines for White and Hispanic auto workers fell by just 0.2%. Clearly, if the auto industry crashes, African Americans will suffer the worst injuries.

Archbishop Desmond Tutu, a man of the cloth even atheists love, is calling for Zimbabwean dictator Robert Mugabe to end his stranglehold on the nation. If he won't leave willingly, says Tutu, Mugabe should be forcibly removed and tried before the Hague.

Asked if Mr Mugabe, who has been in power since independence from Britain in 1980, should be removed by force, he said: "Yes, by force - if they say to him: step down, and he refuses, they must do so militarily."

"He has destroyed a wonderful country. A country that used to be a bread basket - it has now become a basket case," he said.

Since March, Mugabe has refused to step down as Zimbabwe's president after losing to the opposition candidate in democratic elections.

Tutu's comments come on the heels of Mugabe's Zanu-PF government finally admitting that Zimbabwe's cholera epidemic is "a national emergency."

The Zimbabwean health minister, David Parirenyatwa, is now literally begging for help:

"Our central hospitals are literally not functioning," he was quoted as telling donor representatives. "Our staff is demotivated and we need your support to ensure that they start coming to work and our health system is revived."

Sarah Palin has denied Oprah an interview, all sassy like. Who does she think she is? We think it actually might have been good for career, as pretty much everyone (except for YOU NUTS, JAMES FREY and TOM CRUISE) who goes onto her show emerges more well-liked than when they arrived. But there's been some bad blood between the two since Oprah said she'd not have Palin on until the election was over.

So, Oprah snub: good or bad for Palin?

Perry County, a largely black county in Alabama that voted overwhelmingly for Barack Obama on November 4, has decided to set aside every second Monday in November as Barack Obama Day. On that day, all government offices will be closed and all government workers will be given a paid day of leave.

Sounds nice! Um, except for the fact that Perry County is one of the poorest in Alabama, and a day off for all government employees will cost the county thousands of crucial dollars in payroll expenses. Here's what Brett Harrison, the sole member of the five-person county commission to vote against the holiday, says: "I'm a Democrat, but just in these financial times, it's not using the county's money wisely … The recognition is certainly well-founded."

Albert Turner Jr, the commissioner who introduced the holiday bill, said he hopes the county's school board will soon pass a similar resolution. Because nothing pays tribute to Obama's tremendous successes better than not going to school.

And we thought Obama as Denzel Washington was bad. At right is how the president-elect was depicted in a truly pointless – TRULY! – post on the increasingly inconsistent Daily Beast. Writing in a piece titled "Why Barack Should Get a Beard," the usually great Jamie Malanowski decides it's because Lincoln, Obama's idol, had one, and because it would be easier to level with all the dictators and terrorists abroad who sport facial hair. Imagine, Malanowski says, how much better Obama might have gotten along with Hitler if he too had facial hair. Ha ha…ha?

Jesus, political humor really is dead, huh?
