What Is Hers, the first of a series, introduces Dan Davies – a recently retired New York City detective. Davies, a widower, moves to an eastern Connecticut beach community to spend his senior years. A year after settling in to his new home, Dan becomes wrapped up in a series of crime-related incidents involving people who have become friends. Suddenly, the peaceful times he was enjoying are torn apart. The incidents, which occur at a pristine, waterfront family enclave, take a bizarre twist as Dan begins to suspect family members scheming against each other. But, who is scheming against whom?

This week, SterlingHouse Publisher author Carlotta G. Holton was awarded third place in the Best Book category by the National Federation of Press Women for her third book Vampire Resurrection. NFPW is a nationwide organization of professional women and men in careers across the communications spectrum. This is the second major award Carlotta has won this year. This past week, several premier SterlingHouse Publisher authors were featured on the cover of Publishers Weekly under the title “Hot New Authors.” The reaction from the authors and the trade has been overwhelming. One SterlingHouse Publisher author tells us, “With BEA right around the corner, I go from being extremely excited to incredibly nervous. SterlingHouse Publisher mystery Deadmistress by Carole Shmurak will soon be available in audio format for the blind and physically handicapped. The book is being made into a talking book and will be available in the Connecticut Library for the Blind and Physically Handicapped in Rocky Hill, CT. The Connecticut Library produces 100-125 talking books a year in all genres ranging from fiction to nonfiction. The library will also coordinate the recording of Deadmistress with the studio. Talking books take approximately a year to complete and 150 hours of studio time. Once completed, the audio is edited in a meticulous review process to remove any errors in diction and breath between words. The audio version of Deadmistress will be mailed for free to any person qualifying for the talking book, including the visually, perceptually and physically impaired.
