Harold Washington Library : Chicago Wedding Venues

The Harold Washington Library is a fantastic venue for contemporary weddings. Located in the southern part of the Loop, the Library is surrounded by Chicago’s downtown, hotels, restaurants, and parks. If your guests are travelling from out-of-town for the wedding, they’ll have no shortage of hotels to choose from within walking distance of the Library. The space is also one of the few in downtown Chicago that can accommodate very large weddings.

Deb’s Wedding: The Westin Lombard Yorktown Center : Katie and Bryan

Katie and Bryan were married on a day in early January, that felt like it belonged in mid-May. With blue skies and wispy clouds, we had balmy spring weather as a backdrop and as a result we were able to get lots of fun outdoor shots on the balcony of their suite and on the grounds around the hotel. Katie had given all of her bridesmaids these amazing, snuggly boots – as she imagined getting a fun winter picture (as we had imagined snow, not spring) But they still had fun with them anyway! The simple elegance of the low winter sun and having everything in one location, allowed everything to unfold beautifully on their wedding day. Thank you so much Katie and Bryan for letting me be part of your beautiful day! Congratulations to you both!

I wanted to take this opportunity to showcase a small selection of my favorites from this past year. Looking back on 2011 I am drawn toward those images that capture moments using emotion and light. Come work with us – we don’t bite!

I find it incredibly fulfilling when photographers who have worked for me become successful – it makes me feel like a coach starting his own coaching tree. But when that happens, I need to find new photographers who can help me out on wedding days! I’m looking to add one more second photographer and one more assistant to my team. Second photographers should have experience second shooting and/or shooting their own weddings. Assistants generally will not be shooting, but you’ll get the opportunity to learn and observe by working alongside us on the wedding day. Both the second photographer and assistant positions are paid, of course.

Deborah is also looking for one more second shooter for her team, so there will be plenty of opportunity for whoever joins our team to shoot. Please contact Steve via email at steve@stevekoophotography.com if you’re interested with the info below.
