My beautiful little girl turns 1 today — hard to sum up the 1st year but it’s been incredible. Her personality is shining through and she’s so much fun. This morning I went to give her a piece of banana and she actually said “nommmm” as she chopped it. Hysterical.

Grain, colour, light, salt water and reef — just beautiful.

The man who designed the original Range Rover has passed away and the NYT’s has an article about him.

I’ve always loved this design — there’s something about the glass size, body shape, panel fit, and ‘utility with finish’ that’s attractive to my country upbringing and my design sense. Too bad it’s now synonymous with gas waste and excess $ (maybe it always was to some degree).

One of my favourite current pieces of satire/commentary is from @BPGlobalPR discussing the recent oil spill. It’s so good they now have almost 60,000 followers and BP is trying to have it shut down.

Tim and me discretly escaped from the contest in Teahupoo to join Kelly Slater, Manoa Drollet and Benjamin Sanchis to go to this super fickl wave called “Malik’s right” by the boys. Just us on the spot for few hours, only two friendly locals Hector and Aken came to get few waves. I have been using few waves of this session for my movie “Cloud9” but I couldn’t get the opportunity to show what happened really and to give a sample of the vibe there. It was a very special moment for all of us, we dedicate this session to Malik Joyeux, we miss you brother.

What’s always been most impressive to me, though, is Lost’s innovative narrative style - using flashbacks, and then flash forwards, as well, to move the story along. I’m eager to see how the series concludes and whether the show’s fans will be satisfied with the answers provided by the show’s creators.”

“This sequence was taken from my recent trip to S. America. My girl’s been studying abroad down there for a few months so I headed down for some lovin’ and long lefts. I purposefully didn’t bring any camera equipment except for a little HD Go Pro camera. The morning of what was supposedly the swell of the season, my girlfriend and I woke up before dawn and navigated the rocks to empty spinning lefts. For forty-five minutes we shared sunrise lefts. Eventually the pack paddled out and the camera fogged up, so I ditched the head rig and shared perfect waves with the locals all day. I’m stoked to have these opening rides recorded, it was a session I’ll never forget…”
