Hey everyone! I still have yet to throw up my interview of Pull the Pin but temporarily I had to take it easy and focus more on school but I have decided to make T-Shirts with my photos on them! Update on the T-shirts soon!

Patent Pending on their newest album?

Hey everyone! I hope everyone has had a healthy start to the new year and you are all excited for a new year for music. Recently I've been trying to keep track of Patent Pending because they should have a new album sometime in the future. Joe (Vox/Guitarist) has informed me that they are recording a couple of demo's of songs written by the band over the past 6 months or so. Apparently they are looking for a good hunk of songs (15 or more) that they'd want to settle on they are gonna pick up recording for the new album. More information is on the way, but if you want feel free to check them out on their website or their Myspace (which seems to be updated more frequently).

Patent Pending is a Long Island band that came from the depths of a whale, and now they are out to save the world. Feel free to visit their site (through this awsome banner!)

I hope everyone who celebrates christmas had themselves and enjoyable on and they got many goodies. As for me I really wasn't asking for much but I did get quite the surprise when I popped onto myspace and all of a sudden as I was looking through my inbox I saw that the band, Music for Animals (check out their Myspace though!) Had decided to use one of my photographs as their default profile picture.

Anyways, I haven't given them a formal thanks yet but I decided that I'll start by spreading the word about how awsome they are, so feel free to check them out!

I apologize that i haven't yet gotten the chance to put up my photos or write a review on the latest show i went to in Hamden, CT but that's because (unfortunantly) my laptop is in short terms, busted. Streetlight Manifesto, Suburban Legends, Westbound Train, The Stitch Up- Manhattan Grand Ballroom 11/10 (NYC)

Tonight i went to see Streetlight Manifesto and Suburban Legends in NYC at the Manhattan Grand Ballroom (formerly known as Hammerstien) and I got exactly what I paid for, an amazing show that i can dance to. I got to the venue at around 7 after some mishaps with my ticket, and waited in the coat check for quite a bit of time but things seemed well being as I didn't go alone. Unfortunantly, as soon as i entered into the main venue stage, I picked up a rank smell of marijuana. Then apparently people weren't being stopped from smoking anything (let alone pot) on the floor. Not only that, later I learned that the bartenders were willing to pass out drinks to people(minors) if they got a little extra cash, not exactly my favorite of the many venues i've attended.

The night kicked off with a band I hadn't really heard of, The Stitch Up, but as I've noticed based on other shows I've gone to, usually the very first opener doesnt really catch the audience so they indeed had a tough crowd (apparently it was their 1000th show). Personally, the music I heard wasn't exactly what i had expected but music is music.

The night went on and as most of us were expecting The Stitch Up to simply be followed by Suburban Legends we were treated with more reggae tones of Westbound Train who came on stage with an all black attire and music that could help the hungriest of dancers. WT came and went just in time for the first of 2 bands that I had intended to see.
Suburban Legends came on stage with a roar from the very engertic (and some high) parts of the crowd. They had a pretty fun set, new stuff and old classics of course (unfortunantly no Don Juan or Last Dance I was pretty disappointed) but i wasn't as into the music as i usually am, and i determined that because i have seen them 5 times that i've noticed the music a lot more. The band writes amazing music and when they preform they have usually come through with quite the preformance, but tonight they didn't play as well as usual. The songs were slower, and with what seemed to be less feeling but as i said, the music they make is amazing but they've had better shows (i still love them!).

On a quick side note, i just think that if you go to a ska show, that you should skank, because its not supposed to be a mosh pit, take it from the guy that got nailed above the eye.

Finally the one band that most or all of the attendants came for, Streetlight Manifesto, and man did they put on one hell of a show! As usual, they blew the crowd away and insane with some classics, and new songs off their most recent album Somewhere In the Between and of course, they played the one and only Point/Counterpoint with a side of Keasbey Nights which made the crowd go wild. They came back for an encore after their set, but at that point it seemed that all the attendees were worn out from all the dancing they did.
It was quite a show, but unfortunantly I had absolutely no way of getting photos of the bands themselves so i took a different approach and took photos of the skank pit in action which i got a couple good ones.

~Possible Future~
After talking to Vince and Brian W. I was told that the future shows that they are gonna be playing aren't known as of yet, but apparently they are going to try and head to Iraq to entertain the troops. Who knows?!
One last note, if you see Suburan Legends live, hit the merch booth and invest in a tee or in fact an amazing new hoodie they have on sale (not online yet, sorry!) Oh! and this :D

So recently I've been spreading the word about my blog to differentbands via Myspace ( http://www.myspace.com/thebluequailman ) and i got pretty lucky. I got a reply back from a band that i saw in San Francisco during my art experinece saying they wanted to do a photoshoot with me. I guess im moving up in the ranks haha. I'm gonna have some more traditional photography up soon because im in a certain shortage of money xD

MCS Show

the show was by far a pretty amazing show! The Show kicked off with EONS a simple band, but I didn't really enjoy their soft into a little deeper rock transitions. They came on to a packed Knitting Factory and only got maybe 4 or 5 acknowledgements, which proved the unpopularity of the band.

Followed by EONS was Farewell which in my opinion was great (I ended up getting their CD). They came on strong despite the fact that it was 6 people cramped onto the one stage. In the crowd it was worse though with the majority of girls that were dying to get into the front at any cost of the well beings of people around them. Farewell played an amazing set and then Motion City Soundtrack finally came on.

Before the show I was told that I wasn't allowed to use flash at the concert because they were taping for myspace which frustrated me because the only decent shots i could get would be because i had flash. i got into an argument about it and ended up being told that if i kept persisting that i wouldnt be allowed to shoot at all so i left...

So motion city soundtrack found their way onto the stage and played an amazing show (despite the fact that i got beat up by the surrounding girls. I ended up shooting with flash but only about 100 photos so it was somewhat of a dissappointment, but the show was so worth it!

So i was on myspace the other day and i was looking through concerts to see what im gonna want to go to so i can take photos of the shows and build up a portfolio. i was trying to make a list of shows i wanted to go to one including a november show in nyc which had Motion City Soundtrack headlining so i got excited.

then i kept looking through concert dates and different bands id want to see and take pictures of so i looked around until i stummbled onto a bulletin that said

Myspace Secret Shows presents Motion City Soundtrack CD Release show

so im thinking thats awsome

then i keep reading and it says

IN NEW YORK CITY @ the KNITTING FACTORY (a well known venue for me, i like to go to a ton of the shows hosted there)

so at that point im excited

i keep reading and BOOM

FREE ADMISSION

i pretty much freaked out because, well i love them

i keep reading

and conveniently

its this tuesday (i found out sunday night)

so im in awe

of this show

until i realize

im still in high school

and i cant go to a show on a school night...

so im thinking

FUCK

how the hell am i supposed to go to this show

that will indeed blow me away!?

so i made some story up so i could get to the show

and my mom bought it

"Mom, I think the easiest way to explain the enormity of this band is that they are the next up and coming Beatles!"

so its about 12:45 am

i have to get up in less than 8 hours

nearly 7 hoursw actually haha so i can take a train into nyc and stand in line
