Titled Day & Night, the synopsis for the short is as follows:

When Day, a sunny fellow, encounters Night, a stranger of distinctly darker moods, sparks fly! Day and Night are frightened and suspicious of each other at first, and quickly get off on the wrong foot.

For the first time in the 13-year history of ABC’s Emmy® award-winning talk and entertainment program, “The View,” a featured musical guest will make two consecutive appearances this March, Bill Geddie, executive producer, announced today.

Canadian Pop/R&B sensation Justin Bieber is familiar with screaming girls and mayhem. Bieber is one of the hottest young stars on the music scene today and is set to make history on “The View” as the first artist to make back-to-back appearances/performances on the show, live, MONDAY, MARCH 22 and TUESDAY, MARCH 23 (11:00 a.m.-12:00 noon, ET). He will perform an acoustic version of “Never Let You Go” and then, with his band, perform his new single, “Baby,” off his forthcoming second album, “My World 2.0″ (set to drop of March 23). Bieber will also be interviewed by the show’s five hosts.

His debut album, “My World,” was released in Nov. 2009 and featured guest vocals from Usher, who signed Bieber to a record deal with Island Records and featured “Favorite Girl,” “One Time,” “Love Me” and “One Less Lonely Girl.” Bieber has performed for the President and Mrs. Obama. Most recently he was a vocalist on the 25th anniversary remake of “We Are the World” to benefit Haiti. Beiber sings the opening line of the song, originally performed by Lionel Richie in 1985.

ESPN Sports Saturday, a new block of sports programming on ABC, will launch Saturday, April 3, from 4-6 p.m. ET, it was announced by John Skipper, ESPN executive vice president, content. The two-hour window will consist of a new 60-minute, highlight-driven series titled Winners Bracket and a mix of some of ESPN’s most distinctive offerings, including films from the acclaimed 30 for 30 documentary series, episodes of ESPN’s award-winning newsmagazine E:60 and installments of the interview-focused Homecoming with Rick Reilly.

ESPN Sports Saturday will generally be featured Saturdays from 4-6 p.m., from April through mid-August, and will return for another round of shows December through August 2011. For certain weeks, as the schedule dictates, ESPN Sports Saturday may be less than two hours.

“ESPN Sports Saturday is a creative way to mix more high quality sports product with ABC’s strong live event lineup,” Skipper said. “Winners Bracket will review the sports week using a fresh and fun approach, while some of the very best ESPN series will provide an extremely compelling companion.”

Bill Hoffman, vice president, general manager, WSB-TV in Atlanta and the chair of the sports committee for the ABC Affiliate Board of Governors commented, “We are excited about this brand new sports offering from such a trusted brand. This program comes as a result of great creative thinking and collaboration between the ABC Board and ESPN.”

ESPN Sports Saturday
The two-hour block, anchored by ESPN SportsCenter’s Hannah Storm, will generally begin with a 60-minute episode of one of the three ESPN series followed by the hour long Winners Bracket. Storm will guide viewers throughout, with comments from ESPN’s Bristol, Conn., studios. Additionally, during the last portion of the block, local ABC affiliates will have the opportunity to insert a short, local update to promote upcoming programming.

For the first two weeks of ESPN Sports Saturday, new episodes of different ESPN shows will make their debut in the block’s first hour. Coinciding with the start of the NCAA Men’s Final Four on April 3, the television debut of the 30 for 30 film, Guru of Go, a documentary about the incredible run of Loyola Marymount’s men’s basketball team and the tragic death of star Hank Gathers, will be followed by Winners Bracket. The following week (April 10) – the first full weekend of the MLB season — a new episode of Homecoming with Rick Reilly featuring Minnesota Twins catcher Joe Mauer will lead into Winners Bracket.

Winners Bracket
This new, 60-minute series, hosted from Bristol, Conn., by ESPN SportsNation co-host Michelle Beadle and ESPN contributor and former NFL star Marcellus Wiley, will debate and recap the week in sports in a bracket-style format. Frequent appearances and perspective from ESPN’s experts in various sports will be a regular part of the show. Each episode will include highlights, analysis and discussion of the biggest newsmakers and stories from the world of sports, culminating with the determination of the bracket champion.

From great performances to record-setting moments to unforgettable quotes, the 16 biggest newsmakers of the week will be pitted against each other in seeded brackets. For each round, the debate will be framed through highlights, comments from ESPN analysts and perspective from the hosts.

Other elements planned for Winners Bracket include such segments as a collection of sound bytes from athletes and coaches, a taste of that week in sports history, a countdown of the 20 “lowlights” from the week and a look at athletes whom fans would have expected to see in the bracket but missed.

30 for 30, E:60, Homecoming with Rick Reilly
Inspired by ESPN’s 30th anniversary in 2009, ESPN Films launched 30 for 30, an unprecedented documentary series featuring 30 of today’s finest storytellers who chronicle 30 remarkable stories from the ESPN era. Each storyteller brings his or her passion and point of view to a film detailing the issues and events that transformed the sports landscape since 1979.

E:60 is ESPN’s first multi-subject, prime-time news magazine program offering a combination of investigative features, profiles of intriguing sports personalities and cutting edge stories on innovation in the sports world, including emerging sports and new technology. The series focuses on life stories that relate or have a basis in sports, melding its stories with a glimpse of the reporters’ experiences – discussing the story idea with producers, creating storylines and shooting the interviews. By turning the camera on the story subjects and reporters, the program gives the viewer a unique behind-the-scenes look at television storytelling.

Homecoming with Rick Reilly challenges that old adage, “You can’t go home again.” Hosted by 11-time Sportswriter of the Year Rick Reilly, the show features a one-on-one interview with a prominent athlete. Reilly brings his unique style of storytelling to the series set in the athletes’ hometown or formative place surrounded by friends and family the athlete has known throughout his or her life.

ESPN on ABC Programming
In addition to the new ESPN Sports Saturday, ESPN on ABC offers a variety of top quality live event programming. Among the offerings are NBA regular-season games, playoffs, and The Finals; World Cup soccer; NASCAR Sprint Cup; the Indianapolis 500; the SEC Men’s Basketball Tournament semifinals and championship; Belmont Stakes; Little League World Series; and Saturday Night Football, the only weekly prime-time college football series on broadcast television.
The Sherman brothers, Richard M. Sherman and Robert B. Sherman, will receive a tribute window on Main Street, U.S.A.

Among the Shermans’ more than 150 Disney songs are such familiar Disney theme park compositions as “The Tiki Tiki Tiki Room” (theme of The Enchanted Tiki Room), “There’s a Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow” (theme of Carousel of Progress) and “It’s a Small World,” one of the most translated and performed songs on Earth. All three are still performed in their attractions at Disney theme parks around the world, making the music as contemporary today as when it was composed.

“Richard and Robert Sherman’s contribution to Disney spans 50 years and has touched virtually every aspect of our company,” said Robert A. Iger, president and Chief Executive Officer, The Walt Disney Company. “By dedicating a window on Main Street, U.S.A. inside Disneyland we are pleased to recognize them with one of the highest honors our company bestows.”

“The music of the Sherman brothers has left an indelible mark on the Walt Disney Company and still resonates in Disney parks around the world,” said Tom Staggs, Walt Disney Parks and Resorts chairman. “Their songs -- particularly ‘It’s a Small World’ and the score of ‘Mary Poppins’ -- are not just touchstones of Disney, but of American culture as a whole. The whole world sang these songs when they were new and they still sing them today almost five decades later. Richard M. Sherman and Robert B. Sherman are honored members of the Disney family.”

The tradition of honoring individuals with a personalized decorative window was started on Main Street, U.S.A. by Walt Disney and has continued at Disney parks worldwide. A Disneyland window is considered the ultimate honor anyone can receive from “The Happiest Place on Earth.”

The careers of Richard M. Sherman and Robert B. Sherman span almost 50 years and include two Academy Awards for “Mary Poppins” -- Best Score, and Best Song for “Chim Chim Cher-ee.” The Sherman brothers gained recognition in popular music with several Top Ten hits, among them “Let’s Get Together,” sung in “The Parent Trap” by Hayley Mills; “Tall Paul,” Annette Funicello’s first Top Ten single; and “You’re Sixteen,” which made the Top Ten twice: sung by Johnny Burnette in 1960 and by Ringo Starr in 1974. In 1960, they began a phenomenal 10-year association with Walt Disney, during which time they composed more than 150 songs for Disneyland Park, other Disney parks, and Disney films and television shows. Their Disney credits include “The Jungle Book,” “Bedknobs and Broomsticks,” “The Sword in the Stone,” “The Aristocats,” “The Happiest Millionaire,” the “Winnie the Pooh” series and, of course, “Mary Poppins.” The theatrical version of “Mary Poppins” is consistently among Broadway’s top-grossing shows and is in its fourth highly successful year at the New Amsterdam Theatre. The North America tour continues to be a hit, and the show’s popularity is growing around the globe with international productions opening in Australia and Holland later this year.

The Sherman brothers went on to compose other song scores for “Snoopy Come Home,” “Charlotte’s Web,” the Broadway musical “Over Here,” “Chitty Chitty Bang Bang” (later brought to the stage in London and New York), “Tom Sawyer,” “Huckleberry Finn,” “The Slipper and the Rose,” “The Magic of Lassie” (which earned their ninth Academy Award nomination for Best Song), “The Tigger Movie,” the stage musical “Busker Alley” and “Beverly Hills Cop 3.”

Among the Sherman brothers’ honors are three Grammy Awards, 24 gold and platinum albums and a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. They have also been named Disney Legends, a designation which acknowledges the many individuals whose imagination, talents and dreams have created the Disney magic.

Announced during the 2010 North American Association of Uniform Manufacturers and Distributors (NAUMD) Convention and Expo in Las Vegas, Walt Disney World took home top prizes for its uniforms (costumes) during the Image of the Year Awards.

“From the officer who arrests criminals to the doorman who greets you when you arrive at a hotel, uniforms are an integral part of any customer-facing business,” said Richard Lerman, President and CEO of the NAUMD. “This year’s winners are a dynamic group of companies who have created a competitive edge in their businesses by placing a strong focus on the image of their staff.”

For more than 31 years, the NAUMD’s Image of the Year Awards honor uniform manufacturers and distributors that have mastered the concept of fashion and function within image and market planning. Specifically designed to assist in identifying staff and professionals, imagewear can also extend a company’s brand, increase safety, enhance interior décor and improve employee morale. Winners in each category represent apparel programs with distinct purposes or functions within their industry.

Sanaa, located at the Animal Kingdom Lodge’s Kidani Village resort, took the award for the Restaurant Fine Dining category while the newly re-named ESPN Wide World of Sports complex took honors in the Sports Arena or Facility category.

Starz Entertainment, LLC, and Disney-ABC Domestic Television, a division of The Walt Disney Company, announced today the signing of a new, exclusive long-term licensing agreement for theatrical releases from The Walt Disney Studios through 2015. The previous output agreement was set to run through 2012. Financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

The deal extension provides Starz with exclusive pay TV rights to exhibit theatrically released Walt Disney Studios live-action and animated feature films, including those from Marvel Entertainment, on its Starz, Encore and MoviePlex linear channels, and its related on-demand and IP-based services, both in standard and high definition. Walt Disney Studios theatrical releases in the agreement, in addition to Marvel, include pictures produced under the Walt Disney Pictures, Walt Disney Animation Studios, Disney-Pixar, Touchstone Pictures, and Hollywood Pictures labels. Theatrical releases from DreamWorks Studios and Miramax Films will not be licensed to Starz under the new agreement.

Janice Marinelli, president, Disney-ABC Domestic Television, and Bill Myers, Starz Entertainment president and chief operating officer, announced the agreement on behalf of the companies.

“Disney and Starz have been partners since the launch of the flagship Starz premium channel back in 1994, and we are pleased to be able to extend our very successful relationship,” said Marinelli. “With this long-term extension, Starz’s subscribers will continue to experience the magic and excitement of our Walt Disney Studios motion pictures,” she continued.

Myers said, “Commercial-free movies from Disney have always been a cornerstone of our programming and will remain so for years to come even as we add original series to our movie mix.”

Myers noted that Starz has been a leader in making use of new technology to allow subscribers to enjoy programming in more convenient ways. “This agreement secures our ability to meet the needs of current and future subscribers in a fast-changing media landscape,” he said.

Walt Disney Studios animated movies and live-action feature films coming exclusively to Starz in 2010 include: Up, The Princess and the Frog, The Proposal (starring Sandra Bullock and Ryan Reynolds), G-Force, Old Dogs (starring Robin Williams and John Travolta), Hannah Montana: The Movie, Alice in Wonderland; and Race to Witch Mountain.

With help from a world-famous mouse, dozens of eager children and a shower of confetti, officials opened the doors to the welcoming, new lobby of the Walt Disney Pavilion at Florida Hospital for Children and unveiled the first physical milestone of the hospital’s innovative model of pediatric health. The entrance serves as a gateway to the remainder of the children’s hospital where the smallest patients from around the world will receive superior treatment and care from renowned physicians.

Inspired by the soothing environment of nature, the lobby features beloved and nurturing Disney characters such as Timon and Pumbaa from “The Lion King,” Flounder and Sebastian from “The Little Mermaid” and Rutt and Tuke from “Brother Bear.” Walt Disney Imagineers designed the space with these thoughtfully chosen characters to complement the hospital’s healing environment where young patients are supported by caring, medical professionals, along with family and friends.

“Our goal is to create a therapeutic environment that reflects the type of attention and care children and their families receive during their visit,” said Marla Silliman, administrator of Florida Hospital for Children. “With this captivating entrance, we hope young patients overcome the apprehension of a hospital stay by engaging them in a world of fantasy, imagination and adventure.”

“I didn’t feel like I was in a hospital,” said Kyle Bennett, a 6-year-old boy from Orlando. “‘The Little Mermaid’ section of the lobby was my favorite part and I loved scaring the salmon away.”

The lobby of the Walt Disney Pavilion at Florida Hospital for Children features several interactive activities and experiences that children of all ages can enjoy to ultimately enhance patient experience. For example, kids can fish for virtual salmon, step into a safari to touch and illuminate markings on a cave wall, generate jungle sounds on musical step pads, swat chirping bugs that glow during an engaging game that tests memory skills or play in a magical world of bubbles and dancing creatures from under the sea.

“This lobby was created with all the care and attention to detail that we devote to an attraction in our theme parks,” said Meg Crofton, president of Walt Disney World Resort. “It’s a place to leave worries behind and replace them with immersive, interactive fun. We’re delighted to have helped create a calm and relaxing environment for the children and families who will come here for care.”

As part of a part of a $10 million commitment by Walt Disney World Resort and Disney Worldwide Outreach, the lobby represents the first in a series of significant milestones for the Walt Disney Pavilion at Florida Hospital for Children. Construction and renovations are currently underway and will continue throughout the year to complete units and patient rooms. By early 2011, the addition including seven stories and more than 200 dedicated pediatric beds, will open featuring concepts, colors, sounds and themes inspired by the lobby design. While patients, families and visitors will enter through the lobby, the same calming and reassuring atmosphere will be reflected throughout the entire Walt Disney Pavilion at Florida Hospital for Children facility.

Florida Hospital is in the midst of a fundraising campaign to help complete the development of the Walt Disney Pavilion at Florida Hospital for Children.

On his official blog, Ridley Pearson, popular author of young adult novels, has made the first several pages of his upcoming title Kingdom Keepers 3: Disney in Shadow (April 6, 2010; Disney Hyperion) available for download (Adobe Acrobat Reader required). The newest book in the series has our heroes back in the theme parks of Walt Disney World with a new challenge, obstacles and enemies to overcome.

As Ridley has promised us, Stitch has a prominent role in the book, appearing first on page one, but his badness level appears to be questionable at best. Only time (and the rest of the book) will tell if Stitch counts Maleficent and the Overtakes or Finn and the rest of the DHIs amongst his ‘ohana.
