A word from William.........
On 3rd November I attended the launch of parishioner Ronnie Wallace’s book on St. Brides, St. Michael and St. Stephen’s vestry records in St. Patrick’s Cathedral Deanery. Ronnie has also published Clergy of Meath and Kildare Biographical Succession Lists, Clergy of Dublin and Glendalough and Faithful to our Trust: A History of the Erasmus Smith Trust and The High School, Dublin.

On Sunday 6th November we were delighted to welcome Archbishop Michael Jackson and his wife, Inez, for the first time to St. Maelruain’s for our Confirmation service. The Confirmation candidates were Liam Cannon, Lionel Deverell, Sam Moore, Brittany Nwakor and Laura Sullivan. Most of the candidates had photos taken outside the church with the Archbishop before we went over to the hall for coffee. The Archbishop and his wife were most generous with their time.

On Tues 8th the Institute of Technology Tallaght held their Business Prizes awards in the Church. These awards have been held in the Church since the college was founded and I think they really appreciate the beautiful setting of our church.

We were the hosts again for the college on the 11th November when we held a Remembrance Service for deceased pupils and staff of the college.

On Remembrance Sunday we had an Act of Remembrance at 10.45am before our 11.00am service.

I attended the farewell lunch for Fr. Val Martin of St. Thomas’, Jobstown, whom I would have given Christian Unity talks with in Mt. Seskin College (formerly Jobstown Community College). I always found Fr. Val to be very ecumenical and I now look forward to working with the new Parish Priest, Fr Derek Doyle who seems similar and who I met at a talk by Prof David Polman in the college. Prof Poleman was visiting from Queensland, Australia, and was learning how Irish chaplains are trained.

On 20th November we had the Boy’s Brigade and Girl’s Brigade enrolment service. It was lovely to see such a packed Church and it was nice to receive so many positive comments following the service. Thank you to Peter O’Callaghan

and band for playing at the service. Next year we will hopefully arrange the seating so that there will be more room in the main body of the Church.
I took part in a memorial service in Kiltipper Woods nursing home. I especially remembered former parishioner and late resident of Kiltipper, Lettie Morrow in the prayers. The Prior of the Priory, Fr Gerard Norton was very generous in using prayers from our Prayer Book.

I attended the Tallaght Person of the Year awards. While I was proposed along with Sister Bernadette Purcell in the category ‘social and caring’ for chaplaincy work in the I.T.T., it is Sister Bernadette, who is a full time chaplain in the college who obviously does most of the work.

That evening was the commissioning of parish readers in Clontarf Parish Church. Our own parishioner Victioria Osho was commissioned and also Anne O’Halloran’s son, David O’Halloran, from Crumlin & Chapelizod.

We are delighted to welcome Ann Fetherston and ‘The Leinster Singers’ back for a Christmas concert in the Church on 21st December at 8.00pm. You may remember that it has been a few years since we have had this concert as Ann’s nephew Kenneth lost his life tragically in 2009.

We are looking forward to our Christmas Sing Along, Nine Lessons and Carols and our other Christmas Eve and Day services. Not forgetting our Multicultural service to welcome in the New Year.

May I take this opportunity to wish all parishioners and readers of ‘The Losset’ a very joyous Christmas and a healthy and happy 2012.

Boy’s Brigade
The joint enrolment service with the Girls Brigade was an enjoyable occasion and was well attended, with the church full to capacity. John Donoghue was enrolled as Captain along with leaders Terry Barrett, Mark Parkhill,Evan McAuley, Terry O'Rourke, Linda McGlynn, Rachel McCoy, Amy Deverell and James Aylward. Thank you to all the leaders who have committed to helping this year.

Thank you also to Carol Fox, captain of the G.B and her officers who provided the refreshments after the service and indeed to some parishioners who also helped out. The music at the service was played by the 1st Dublin Co. band led by Peter O'Callaghan who obliges us every year. Thank you Peter.

The Battalion swimming gala took place in Balrothery swimming pool on 26th November, Congratulations to Jonathan Hughes who won the beginners section, Adam O'Rourke who was 2n, 3rd and 3rd in the breast stroke, free style and back stroke. Well done lads!

We look forward to a visit from Santa on December 9th. The senior and junior section boys will go to the bowling alley on the same night as the parish Christmas Fair takes place in the parish centre. We hope all the parents will come along to
the Christmas Fair and sing along which is always a good event.

We close on the 9th December for Christmas. All the staff would like to wish everybody a happy and healthy Christmas and good wishes for 2012!

Mother’s Union
On Monday 14th November, MU Overseas Representative, Sylvia Graham came to speak to us. We learned how important our contributions to Mothers Union overseas programmes really are. It was fascinating to learn of the large growth in membership in recent years overseas – including the fact that there are 4,000 members in Iraq.
Both Valerie and I attended the Diocesan Council Meeting on Saturday 19th November.
June Empey, Action & Outreach, spoke very movingly of her
visit to one of our maternity hospitals with a supply of
blankets knitted by members and meeting with parents who
had just lost their baby. Some M U Members throughout the diocese knit little blanket squares 12” x 12”, 18” x 18” or 24” x 24” and these blankets are often kept and treasured by parents knowing the precious child they have lost was tenderly wrapped in it. Have you spare unused wool – if so maybe you would like to knit for this worthy cause. I actually have patterns for premature baby jackets and caps and of course blanket squares can be knit in any pattern.

Mothers Union produce a magazine – Families First – six times
yearly and if you would like a sample copy, please contact either
Valerie or myself. It is also possible to become a Diocesan
Member ie if you are unable to come to meetings and are interested in keeping up to date with what is happening. They have also produced an A-Z of useful contacts for support and this will be on the Notice Board in the Church Porch.

School News

We returned refreshed and all ready to start again after our Halloween Break. Our fund raising Readathon continued until November 14th and lots of money is still coming in.
We are very happy to support The Irish MS Association as they give us lots of prizes for our efforts.

South Dublin County Council are sending an Artist on the 23rd of November to help the 3rd and 4th class paint a mural on our outside wall near the exit to the yard. The Theme will be ANTI LITTER AND GREEN. They will also be attending and Anti-litter workshop on Thursday the 1st of December. Ms Rountree's 5th and 6th class are hosting our School Assembly on November 24th . The Theme is Samson and Delilah!

Mrs Beckett has distributed bags to the pupils so they can bring all their old clothes for recycling .

First and Second Class are going to the Ark to do a puppet theatre workshop on December 13th. The Junior and Senior Infants are performing their Nativity Play on Monday the 19th December at 9.15 .The Junior and Senior infants along with the first and second class are going to the civic theatre on Tuesday Dec 20th to see Little Miss Muffets Christmas.

Bowling Club

Our Hope team lost out to St. Thomas’s in the first round of their league. Our Miller team plays against Coolock on Wed. 13th. Dec. and we wish our team the best of luck.

Our Club Xmas Dinner is arranged for 17th. Dec. in Lucan Golf Club. Our club finishes for the Xmas break on 20th. Dec. and reopens on Tuesday 3rd. Jan 2012.

We have had great support from the members of the

Church Review

Subscriptions for the 2012 Church Review (Diocesan Magazine) are now due. Please forward your subscription of €40 to the parish office or place in an envelope marked ‘Church Review’ (with your name on it) and put on the collection plate in church. Please make cheques payable to Tallaght Parish Church. I would appreciate if you are opting out of your subscription that you would let me know before I order the magazines at the beginning of January (Please leave a message on the parish office answering machine if necessary 462 6006).

If you would like to subscribe for the first time please contact the parish office before the end of December. The subscription for 2012 is €40. – Jane (parish secretary).

The Church of Ireland Gazette is the all Ireland Church of Ireland Newspaper with news of the Church of Ireland from all over the island. If you would like to order a copy please contact the parish office.

Offertory Envelopes

2012 Offertory Envelopes will be available in the Church porch before Christmas. Please collect your usual number.
If anyone would like to join the weekly offertory envelope scheme, please contact the parish office or fill in the form at the bottom of the order of service sheet and give to one of the Church wardens or the Rector in Church.

Lumiere

We received an email from Catherine Whittle to thank us
once again for donating to her charity Lumiere at coffee recently. The money raised was used to post educational and other items to an orphanage in India, to a child in Uganda, to a school principal and social worker in Uganda and to two boys that Lumiere sponsor in India.

A word from William

On 2nd October for the second year in a row I went to preach at the Carmelite Convent’s Harvest service on the Firhouse Rd, opposite from where I live. They had a Harvest Fair before the service.

We had our own Harvest Service on Friday 7th October. The church was beautifully decorated, thank you to Janet Edgely and her helpers for all their work. The Carmelite nuns sent us four baskets of fruit and vegetable, which we were very grateful for. They also attended the service and we were delighted to able to welcome them particularly as their Order is an enclosed Order. We were also visited on the night by Pastors Brendan and Sheila Hade of the new Victory Church in Firhouse, by Pastor Frank Sage of Bethel Community Church, by the ‘Firhouse Ladies’ who I studied the Gospel with and by members of the Irish Countrywomen’s Association. Revd Rob Jones, Rathmines Vicar, came to preach on making Church relevant, especially to younger people.

Janet Edgely held a coffee morning / day in her home on Saturday 8th October in aid of the Church door restoration fund. The event raised in excess of €900. We are very grateful to Janet and to all the people who helped her. This was a terrific sum to raise. Thank you also to all who went along and supported. Following Children’s Harvest on the Sunday morning we were able to sell off the remainder of the goodies along with the vegetables from the harvest service. We were still able to drop down four baskets of vegetables to the local women’s refuge.

I attended a Remembrance Service for families who have been bereaved by drug abuse on Thursday 20th in Kiltalown House, Jobstown, some of you may remember that Kiltalown House used to be the home of the Jolley Family who were parishioners of St. Maelruain’s and the gardens were used as the venue for the Sunday School sports day and picnic. Kiltalown House is now home to Tallaght Rehabilitation Project.
On Sunday 23rdat our 11am service Catherine Whittle, a South African parishioner, spoke to us of her work as director of ‘Luminere’, which is a children’s charity. She raised almost €180 from tea / coffee following the service and she would like to express her gratitude to those who gave so generously.

We look forward to our annual Christmas Sing Along on 9th December where I hope to see many of you there. Please support this event not only as a fundraiser for the parish but it is also a great way to get into the festive spirit and get to know your fellow parishioners.

Mother’s Union

On 1st October we visited Tara’s Palace, Powerscourt , it was good to see extended family coming along, including four generations of one family- mother, daughter, granddaughter and great grandaugter!

Tara’s Palace was inspired by the renowned Titania’s Palace sold out of the country in 1978. Tara’s Palace was meticulously constructed by some of Ireland’s finest craftsmen.

Badminton Club

The Adult Badminton Club meets on Monday
evenings at 7.30pm. As always new members are very welcome. It is a very informal evening and a good way to meet people - with a break for a hot cuppa. You will be given a warm welcome.

Bowling Club

A friendly match with Baltinglass bowling club had to be cancelled, as they did not have enough players on the night.

We welcome Christy Nolan, a new member to our club this season. We wish Christy well and hope he enjoys himself.

Our League match dates have all been arranged, many thanks to Ann and Bill Gould for their work. Our first league match (McIlwaine) was played against Glenageary on 25th. October. Our Club matches for this season have also been drawn, thanks goes to Ann and Denis Kane for their time.

May we wish all our teams a successful and enjoyable season this year. Our Xmas Dinner has been planned for 17th. Dec. in Lucan Golf Club, a night which we all enjoy.”

BOY’S BRIGADE

Our enrolment service will take place on Sunday, November 20th., at 11.00am. The service will be a joint one with the Girls Brigade and we look forward to seeing all parents and friends for the occasion. We will be joined by Peter O'Callaghan and the 1st Dublin Co. band, who will play at the service and there will be the usual opportunity for a chat over a cup of tea in the Parish Centre afterwards.

School News

We had a very busy start to the school year here at St. Maelruain’s. Firstly the website is up and running and we hope that together with texting this will be a new form of communication with parents and this will slowly replace the need for paper. The web address is www.stmaelruainsns.ie
The After School Programme is beginning to take shape so check out the ‘Activities’ page for further details. The Homework Club for our pupils will be run at Cityswise this year from 2.30 – 3.30pm, Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays. We have 12 pupils all signed up and ready to go. Two Citywise staff members will collect them from the
school on these days at 2.15pm and the parents should collect them promptly from Citywise at 3.30pm.

This year some School Assemblies will be open for the parents to attend. On Thursday 29th September, 3rd / 4th class hosted Assembly and on Thursday 27th October 1st / 2nd class hosted Assembly.

Funerals

The funeral of Patricia (Mable) Collins took place here in St. Maelruain’s on Monday 3rd October. We extend our sincere condolences to her family Carol, June and James.

On Monday 24th October we had the funeral service of Doreen McKeown. We also extend our sincere condolences to her children Caroline and George and the rest of the family.

Baptisms

On 22nd October we had three baptisms. At 10am Ewan David Mulhall baby son of James and Karen was baptised. At 12pm Kambile Somadina Okoye baby son of Chijioke and Chizua and Chukwuemelie Nicholas Brian Agina baby son of Alphonso and Ukonwa were both baptised. Please pray for these babies as they begin their Christian lives.

Confirmation Service

The Archbishop will be with us in St. Maelruain’s on
Sunday 6th November for our Confirmation Service.
The Confirmation candidates are Liam Cannon, Lionel Deverell, Sean Moore, Brittany Nwakor and Laura Sullivan.

Remembrance Sunday

The Act of Remembrance will take place on Sunday 13th November at 10.45am before the 11.00am morning prayer service.

Blessings

On 1st October we had the blessing of the marriage of
Cathy Clare and Cormac Kelly following their civil marriage in Australia.

Niamh McMahon and Joe McGrath had their marriage blessed here in St. Maelruain’s on Saturday 29th October.

We wish both these couple every happiness in their future lives together.

Christchurch Fundraising

Church Review Article

Carol Robinson Tweed came to interview me for an article for the
Church Review on St. Maelruain’s (she was doing a series of
articles on various parishes in the Dioceses) about a month ago. For those of you who do not receive the Church Review Diocesan magazine, there are spare copies of the report in the Church Porch, please feel free to take one!

Carol came back to visit the parish on Sun 23rd for our family service, perhaps to see did the reality live up to the article! I received an email the following day to say how much she enjoyed the service and meeting parishioners at coffee after the service. William.

A word from William
I went to a talk by Tommy Reichenthal, now an Irish Jew and a Holocaust survivor on 5th May. Tommy spoke of the terror of his experience during the war in his Slovakian village and subsequent horror of surviving the Holocaust. He visits schools to speak to young people of his experiences.

We had our Easter Vestry on 8th May. I am very grateful to those who are willing to stand for the Select Vestry, as Synodspeople and as Parochial Nominators. Thank you to those who served previously, it was much appreciated.

On the afternoon of the Easter Vestry I attended the enthronement of our new Archbishop, Michael Jackson. We look forward to meeting the Archbishop in Tallaght.

On 13th a spring cleaning of the church was organised by Janet Edgely. We are very grateful to those who so willing gave their time so generously and with such energy. The result is a sparkling church!

On Sunday 15th I gave a report on my trip to Berlin in Church. There has been a request to do an evening report for those who missed the one in Church. If you are interested, please contact me on 086 803 0239.

I went into the Christian Aid Week report on 18th May in town. One of the interesting facts I learned is that Bewleys use Nicaraguan coffee from Co-ops. We should all look for the fair trade emblem when buying commodities from abroad.

The Megeough Home had an open day on 19th . The home takes elderly men, women or couples who live independently in a range of 1 or 2 bed houses with rent set according to means. The Gascoigne Home is also on the corner of the site, which is a nursing home. As my mother-in-law is a resident in the Megeough I would have no hesitation in sourcing any further information parishioners may require.

Geoffrey McMaster of The Bishop’s Appeal, Water of Life (Fields of Life, Afghan ed. & Leprosy Mission) came to talk to us on Sunday 22nd May. It was interesting to hear that for €50 you can clean up to a million gallons of water. Dirty drinking water is the biggest cause of mortality in children in the third world.
I attended the 25th Anniversary of Mt. Seskin Community College (formerly Jobstown Community College) and the graduation ceremonies in St. MacDara’s and Tallaght Community Schools at the end of May.
Our Summer Sale has come & gone. Please find the results further on in the Losset. I would like to give a big thank you to Ronnie Scott who co-ordinated the sale & to all those who helped in any way, your hard work was really appreciated. Thank you also to those who supported on the day.

Girl's Brigade

We have finished another busy and exciting year.
We entered for lots of competitions at National and District level and had some successes.

Congratulations to our Explorers Circus team who came 4th in the National P.E. Competitions, this was a great achievement beating many of the very good teams,well done girls and thank you to Fiona who trained them. We also won bronze medals in the Fxplorers and Juniors Competitions at District level.

We entered 2 National Craft Competitions – the Juniors painted face masks and the Explorers made animals out of socks and congratulations to Beth Gardiner who gained
Bronze medal and certificate in this competition.

We thank all our lovely girls who come week by week, the attendance and turn out every week was excellent this season and for this we thank all the wonderful parents,
we do appreciate it and it does help the girls to improve and make the teams for competitions, we like to give all the girls a chance.

Last but not least I would like to thank all the leaders who give their time so willingly, for all they do and all the ideas they come up with.

Mother's Union

Our outing on Saturday 21st May was greatly enjoyed despite the dreadful weather…the Ulster American Folk Park gave a fascinating insight into our ancestors
homesteads – and the turf fires burning in many of the cottages were more than welcome on such a damp day. Some of us sampled bread made on an open turf fire…

Did you know Carol Loughlin’s sister is a rather severe school teacher in the Folk Park (she brandished her caneat us on the day!!) which reminded some of us of the
reality of our school days in the fifties when canes were
the norm!

We stepped on board the immigrant ship and landed safely in a new homeland on the American Frontier.We really enjoyed the tales given to us by the guides who were of course dressed in period attire.

On our short visit to Omagh a security guard in M & S was overheard saying “I believe a group of Mothers Union Pensioners has entered the store” ! He must need to go to Specsavers!

Our dinner (by candlelight) was in the Hillgrove Hotel, Monaghan and we sang ourselves silly on the way home.

Thank you to everyone who came, chatted and laughed and together we really had a good time.

The antibacterial hand wash has been handed in to SAOIRSE and they have been informed we will be back in touch with them in August.

A very happy 80th year to Ann O’Halloran…so many of us were very surprised when we heard you were celebrating your 80th birthday as you look far too young !!

Table Tennis Club

This year St. Maelruain’s Parish Table Tennis Club entered 2 teams into the United Churches Table Tennis League.

Our first team played in the Premier Division and comprised Anthony Iyere, David Gibbons with Sharon Gibbons. This team finished in 2nd Place in the Premier which was an excellent result. York Road’s 1st team finished in the top slot again this year. Well done to Anthony who finished 3rd in the individuals competition while David Gibbons finished in joint 6th position.

The Club’s second team played in Division 2 and comprised Andrew Seymour, Brian Gibney and Bobby Wilson. This team finished in joint 2nd place with three other teams who all finished with 6 points. The winner of this Division was Malahide’s 1st team. Andrew Seymour finished in 3rd place in the individuals competition in Division 2.

This year there were no Annual Championships held in Clontarf as numbers that entered the tournament last year were poor and it was not possible to justify the costs and the effort needed to run the event when there seemed to be little appetite among a sufficient number of players for the event.

The UCTTL’s AGM was held on Wed 4th May 2011 and Andrew Seymour was appointed to the role of Vice-chairman of the league. Ken Peare of Killiney has been appointed President of the League while Peter Hayes has been appointed to the role of Chairman. Arthur Thompson continues in the role of Hon. Match Secretary. Peggy Sloan has agreed to stay on as a joint secretary with Valerie Grimes. Brian Hayden has been re-appointed Treasurer of the league.

Next season it is proposed to hold the cup competitions in March after the Leagues have been played out, in this way, if clubs have been grade inappropriately, it gives the Exec. Committee an opportunity to re-grade the the teams for the cup competition. It is understood that this is similar to what currently happens in the Leinster League. To facilitate the cup competition at the end of the season, all league matches are to be played by the end of February 2012 and to achieve this, it will be vital for all teams to arrange and start their matches as soon as possible in October 2011. It also means that each club will need to submit their teams a little earlier than usual so it will be important that we know the make-up of our teams as soon as possible in Sept. 2011.

In relation to our own club competitions, we did not run these this year In recent weeks it was great to see that Vivienne Bright has made a full recovery from a tumble during a match in the club which had her limping for anumber of weeks. It was also great to see Hilary Cleary back down at the club following her knee
injury...... and they say table tennis is not a dangerous sport!

On behalf of the club we send continued best wishes to our former members Harry Griffith and Pat Wilson while we also send best wishes to Hilary Cleary’s husband Peter.

That's it for another season, we will be open again for business on 22nd Sept. 2011. Anyone interested playing table tennis at a social or competitive level is more than welcome to come along on any club night.
Condolences
On Tuesday 10th May the funeral of Lettie Morrow,
widow of the late Canon George Morrow, took place in
St. Maelruain’s at 2pm. We extend our sincere condolences to her family.

Baptism

On Saturday 14th May we had the baptism of James baby son of Michael and Jennifer Kenny . We welcome James into Christ’s flock and pray for him and his family.

A WORD FROM WILLIAM

On the 27th March we had Andrew McCormack of CMS come to talk to us on the CMS Lenten project building ‘Church’ in Burundi. Christianity is growing so fast that they don’t have enough trained clergy or buildings. Our Good News Club hosted tea and coffee after the service for the project and raised in excess of €300

Our Girl’s brigade company had their display on Saturday 2nd April. It was an excellent display and a very enjoyable afternoon. Thank you to our Captain Carol Fox and her staff for all the hard work they do with the girls throughout the year.

The following day was Mothering Sunday and I would like to thank Janet and Regina for the lovely posies they made for the ladies in the congregation.

On Sunday 10th we were delighted to welcome David Williamson of Spirit Radio who talked to us about his healing experience and about the radio station. After almost having his elbow blown off in a bomb blast up North he was told by three different hospitals that his arm needed to be amputated as it would be useless yet he has full power of it today.

On Thursday 14th I attended the ITT’s club and societies awards dinner. It is good to see young people involved in the social end of the college. We are very gratefully for the income derived from the rental of our hall to the college – long may it last.

We had our usual evening services during Holy Week. On Maundy Thursday we had a joint service with the Marthomas (Indian Church who are in full communion with the Anglican Church. They have Orthodox roots and they use our church for worship on a regular basis).
While the service was longer than usual it proved to be an interesting experience.

The church was beautifully decorated for Easter Sunday and I would like to thank Janet Edgely and her band of helpers for all their work and artistic flair in making the church look so special for our Easter celebrations.

At the point of writing these notes I have just returned from a study tour of Berlin, examining the roots of the Holocaust. I think the one thingI learned from the trip was that it isn’t sufficient for a few good people or individuals to stand up against wrong doing but it is up to the community to act together in order to prevent such atrocities as the Holocaust from happening again.

It is that time of year again when the dreaded exams are already here or looming. I would like to wish all those sitting second and third level exams every success and best wishes for their future endeavours.

On Sunday 17th April we had the baptism of Neidín Amy Sargent, baby daughter of Derek and Sylvia. We welcome Neidín into Christ’s flock and pray for her and her family as she begins her Christian life.

BOY'S BRIGADE

Our annual display took part on 16th April and was enjoyed by all. Well done to all the boys and staff who worked so hard to get everything ready for the night. This year the Anchor boys did figure marching for us for the first time and did really well. Junior and Company sections performed their dramas excellently as well as entertaining us with great vaulting and drill. Our inspecting officer was Sean Skehan from 10th Dublin Co. and we hope that he , along with his wife Sharon and their two children enjoyed their evening with us.

Company Section went on a Dodder Walk on Good Friday, starting at the The Point Luas stop and finishing at Templeogue. It was a pleasant day for walking and along the river at Ballsbridge, the boys met with a photographer who had spent three weeks at the same spot, waiting for a Mrs. Fox to present her new cubs . On that day, as the boys arrived, Mrs Fox obliged and the photographer in turn, got his long awaited photo which was printed in the Irish Independent and The Examiner.

MOTHER'S UNION

We held our AGM on Monday 11th April at which Valerie Deverell thanked the Treasurer, Secretary, Committee and tea ladies for their work during the
year. We are so pleased to see the numbers attending our monthly meetings has increased and we look forward to planning our programme for next year with some members of committee.

SAOIRSE are ever grateful for our monthly donations which we will continue. Thank you to all who donate nominated products so faithfully every month. Your generosity is very much appreciated.

For May they would like anti-bacterial hand wash, which we will collect from you on Saturday 21st May - our outing date to Omagh and Ulster American Folk Park.

BOWLING CLUB

On 8th April club members and friends had a most enjoyable evening at the Annual Bowling Association dinner in the Stillorgan Park Hotel.

Our AGM is on the 10th May at 7.30pm in the Parish Centre. All members are urged to attend.

The club will be closed form the 10th May until September, date to be arranged.

Wishing everyone a happy and safe holiday season and see you all back in September, ready for a new bowling season.

SCHOOL NEWS

The photographers came on April 1st & after all the individual & family portraits were completed the whole school posed for a photograph in the hall. We had great fun getting everyone into the proper position and the finished result was well worth the effort!

All the classes completed their skipathon during the first two weeks in April and funds were raised for the Irish Heart Foundation.

Ms Morrow’s class had the most amazing time on their Dublinia and Viking splash tour. They learned a lot about our city while having great fun at the same time!

The junior and senior infants went to Newgrange Farm just before we broke up for our Easterbreak. They loved visiting all the animals and they even had to help the farmer push histractor up a hill!

The third term has started on May 3rd and we have lots of activities planned so let hope the weather stays fine.

A word from William…….

On 24th January I attended the Greenhills Ecumenical Conference in Drogheda. The conference was lead by two journalists, Patsy McGarry (Irish Times) and Alf McCleary (Belfast Telegraph) on the topic of ‘How can the church be a positive influence in Ireland today?’ I was challenged by a student from Trinity College who made the comment that most young people do not see any difference between denominations or even between religions and often see them as irrational and often fundamentalist. She said that Christians needed to explain their beliefs and the bible. Perhaps if people realised that, as many psychologists say, people with a sense of community and who have faith and who go to church have better mental health than those who don’t, we might be a happier society.

Peter McVerry came to Tallaght Stadium on 27th January to launch a report on the local homeless. It was interesting what he said regarding the housing of the homeless. We expect people to get their lives in order before we give them a home and in reality these vulnerable people require a stable home before they can address their addictions and other issues in their lives.

On 28th January I attended a talk on Urban Mission by Joel Edwards who is originally from a Caribbean Pentecostal background, describing his journey through ecumenicalism to cooperating with other faiths on common social issues in London.

Saturday 29th was the launch of a Gospel voices CD. The CD was organised by Gospel Republic and features a track from 10 gospel choirs from around Ireland, including our own Discovery Gospel Choir.

On 1st February I went to a talk by Bill Hybels from Willow Creek Church, Illinois. I was struck by how humble and honest he was. The day was set up as a question and answering session and I felt he made himself vulnerable in allowing the pastors to drive the agenda.

On Thursday 10th I attended a lecture organised by the National Bible Society by the secretary of our select vestry, Dr. David Hutchinson Edgar in All Hallows College on the King James Version – 400 years on. It was interesting looking at the history of the different translations of the bible into English.

In the 1950’s all the protestant churches of Southern India came together and formed the Church of South India (in full communion with the Church of Ireland). They are going to have a monthly service, in their own language of Malayalam in St. Catherine & St. James, Denore Ave. The first of these services took place on Sat 5th February, which I attended

The Church of Ireland Chaplaincy at TCD has joined forces with Christ Church Cathedral Dublin and organised a Quiet Day with Bishop William Willimon on Wednesday 16 February. Bishop Willimon is a Bishop of Birmingham, North Alabama
Conference of the United Methodist Church in the USA. His books have sold over one million copies worldwide and he is widely regarded as one of America’s best preachers

The theme of the quiet day was ‘Leading the church today’. He made the point that as God had called you, the responsibility was shared with him. I found it comforting as well as liberating to be reminded of that point.

On 23rd February I attended the opening of a new ‘Fold’, sheltered housing, for the elderly in the building above Lidl, beside the new Woodies. It is a partnership by Fold Ireland and South Dublin County Council.

On 24th February there was a review of services for provisions for women in prostitution in Dublin 24 run by Tallaght Drug Force which was launched in Kiltalown House. On 13th March at 3.00pm Tirzah are running a ‘Not for sale’ international anti trafficking event at the GPO (wear orange) to help raise awareness about human trafficking.

President Mary McAleece came to visit the recently completed Dominic’s Community Centre on 25th February. She spoke of community and how important it is to be involved. She visited the various groups meeting that day including the playgroup where she had a ‘play’ cup of tea and where she was instructed to wash up! She dropped in on the crochet group (one of which is one of our Cheeverstown ladies) and was delighted to see the participants enjoying the ‘craic’ and community, as well as admiring their creativity..

Ash Wednesday is on 9th March and we will be beginning our Lenten Services each Wednesday of Lent at 8.00pm.

As I write these notes a new government is being formed, there are some very difficult challenges ahead and many of you are paying the price already. During the election campaign I heard the phrase ‘no right to complain if you don’t vote’. I wonder as Christians, that we have no right to complain if we don’t pray. I feel the wisdom of Solomen will be required by the new government to enable them to lead the country to recovery, let’s pray that they can. God bless, William.

Badminton Club

The badminton club is still going strong and meets on a Monday evening from 7.30. This year we welcomed 3 new members, Carol, Gerard and Isobel and we welcomed back the old familiar faces of the two David’s, Ann, Becky, Gillian and Kathleen. Together we have had some good games of badminton and some great laughs over our 9.00 cup of tea. Thanks go to Ann for keeping us supplied with a variety of lovely cakes and biscuits.

At the end of 2010 we were saddened to hear of the death of Deirdre’s mother. We offer our sincere condolences to Deirdre at this difficult time and look forward to welcoming her back again in the future. If anyone else is interesting in joining us, we have room for a couple more so please drop in on a Monday night to meet us.

Boy’s Brigade

All sections are very busy as they work towards the display. Times have been extended to make up for lost time during the bad weather.

We hosted the Dublin battalion drill competition on 12th February, in which our junior and company section took part. Well done to both sections, but in particular, the junior section who performed really well on the night. It was the first time either sections had taken part and junior section included some very young boys, so well done to all. Well done to Terry Barrett and Terry O'Rourke who teach the boys drill each week and many thanks also to Alan Privett from the battalion training and activities committee who came to assist the two Terrys on the run up to the competition.

Junior section and company section went on a hike through the waterworks at Bohernabreena on 19th February. We couldn't wished for a nicer day and once again we were joined by Alan Privett and the Rector for the occasion. Wehad a good turn out of boys and hope they enjoyed the afternoon. Thanks to all the leaders who looked
after the boys.

Junior section are working on their drama item, which they hope to bring to the battalion competition in April.

Bowls

Our teams have been busy since Xmas playing league matches. Unfortunately none have
progressed to their next sections, but we wish the winning clubs the best of luck in their final matches. Despite this we have enjoyed the seasons bowling, and have now started our club competitions.

Our hall is hosting the Hope semi-final match on 22nd. March next. Congratulations to Ann and Billy Gould who have become grandparents, twice in the one week, a son for David and a daughter for Daphne. We wish them every happiness.

Mother’s Union

On Monday 14th February Carol Casey traveled over from Dalkey to speak to us on Mindfulness. Carol encouraged us to relax and link in to our inner feelings. The talk was very much enjoyed by all present. We were delighted to have some new faces attend and also Rev. William. Twenty five in all attended so we are definitely expanding!
By the time you read this we will have hosted the World Women’s Day of Prayer on Friday 4th March.

Our February Drive was held on Monday 21st
which was well attended.

Good News Club

Andrew McCormack, from CMS, will be coming to talk to us in church on Sunday 27th on Churches Missionary Society’s project for 2011- Living Stones: Building Church in Burundi – a 4-week course for Sunday Schools complete with DVD and resource materials to look at Bible stories linking to the work going on in Burundi.
Our Good News Club will be hosting coffee / tea following the service in aid of the project.

Music Group

The Music Group meet in the small hall on Thursday evenings at 8pm every two weeks. The group sings at family service (and other special festival services).
All singers and musicians are welcome to join the group. Please contact Valerie Deverell if you would like more details on 462 1044.

Baptism

On Sunday 13th February the baptism of Matthew Fiach, son of Seamus and Olivia McHugh took place here in St. Maelruain’s. Please pray for Matthew and his family as he begins his Christian life.

Ash Wednesday and Lenten Services

Ash Wednesday is on 9th March, which will see the start of our weekly Wednesday evening Lenten services, at 8.00pm.

St. Patrick’s Day

There will be a service in the Church to mark St. Patrick’s Day on Thursday 17th March at 11.00am.

Tallaght St. Patrick Day Celebration

South Dublin County Council are hosting a St. Patrick’s day celebration in Tallaght Stadium with marching bands, bands, dancers, baton twirlers, sports clubs and much more with a grand finale of a spectacular fireworks display. The event will run from 5.00pm – 7.30pm, why not come along and join in the fun!

Service for the Gift of Sport

The 62nd Annual Ecumenical Thanksgiving Service
for the Gift of Sport will take place in St Ann's Church on Dawson St, Dublin on Sunday, 27 March at 7pm.

This year, John Delaney, CEO of the Football Association of Ireland, will be the Guest Speaker and the collection at the service will be donated to the Mendicity Institution, one of the oldest charities in the City of Dublin.

If anyway interested in sport, young or old, you are invited to show your appreciation for all that sport does to bring people together from a variety of backgrounds and interests, by going along to this special service.

A word from William

In the last week a new ecumenical Christian Radio station has been launched. You can listen to Spirit Radio on 89.9 FM (between RTE 1 and RTE 2). If modern music isn’t your thing you might tell your children or grandchildren about the station. I often worry about the attitude to women in ‘hip hop’ fearing that what you listen to can have a subliminal influence.
While Spirit radio may be predominately a music station, in the morning it could be 50/ 50 talk to music. As we enter an election, there is nobody more fond of current affairs than I, but sometimes it’s nice to get a break from the politicians and their policies. Why not tune in and see what Spirit Radio is about? There are sheets with their schedule in the pews of the Church with the weekday schedule on one side and the weekend on the other. There are also sheets with a donation form as they don’t have advertisers as yet and are listener funded.
On 15th December I was invited to the 10th anniversary of The Horse Project, I was there for the opening of the project 10 years ago. The project was initialized to rectify the problem of the urban horses running loose on estate greens. Archbishop Walton Empey was a patron. At the celebration I reminded those present of the part the donkey played in Jesus life; carried his pregnant mother; the flight to Egypt and on Palm Sunday. In popular music, according to ‘The Rubber Bandits’ if you wanted a woman you needed a horse! This is a very worthwhile project which not only benefits the animals but the youth in the area.
I attended the Bowling Club Christmas dinner on 17th December in Lucan Golf Club, this was an enjoyable evening.
On 19th December we had our Primary School Carol Service, along with our Good News Club nativity sketch at the 11.00am service. At that point our new school principal, Berna Daly, had learnt of her appointment and joined us at the service. It was lovely to have her and since the service has taken up her post as Principal of our Primary School.
That evening we had our Nine Lessons and Carols Service which was well attended and got us into the festive spirit. The Church was beautifully decorated and I would like to thank Janet Edgely and her band of helpers for all their work and creativity. Thank you also to those who helped with the teas following the service.
As we all know we certainly had a white Christmas this year! All our services went ahead despite the weather and thank you to those who helped clear a path to the
Church for car parking. We had our usual Christmas Eve service at 11.30pm, Christmas Morning 8.30am Holy Communion and 11.00am Family Holy Communion. It was a busy few days with Sunday falling the day after Christmas but we went ahead with both 8.30am and 11am services as normal on that Sunday. At the 11.00am service the baby son of Tim and Susan (nee Griffin) Holliday, Tullis, was blessed. Tullis had been dedicated in London where the family live but had blessings both here in Tallaght for Susan’s family and in Northern Ireland for Tim’s family.
On New Year’s Eve at 11.00pm we had our annual Multicultural Service to welcome in the New Year. It gave people the opportunity to partake in a festive service if they hadn’t been able to get out to Church over the Christmas period due to the weather and it really was a most enjoyable way of welcoming in the New Year. People started to arrive around 10.30pm and this gave the children a chance to compare Christmas presents!
Our Archbishop John Neill retired on 25th January. We are very grateful for all the times he visited us here in Tallaght, along with his wife Betty, not just for Confirmation but also for our Discovery Services. We wish them a long, happy and healthy retirement.
As previously mentioned, we are facing an election. There are booklets on how to vote wisely in the Church porch. They were actually published for the election in ’07but as the points are based on biblical truths I think they will still be relevant and will be of help in this up coming election.

Our postponed Christmas Drive was held on Monday 24th
January with a full hall, good craic and good raffle.

Thanks to Janet Edgely, Mary Lucas, Hendrikje Mahon and Yvonne McMahon and Yvonne McGlynn who looked after the catering. Also thanks to all who donated raffle prizes. All support was much appreciated during the year which enabled us to make our annual contribution to parish funds.

Bowling

“A warm welcome back to all after the Xmas break. Our league teams are busy catching up on matches that were cancelled before Xmas.

Our Xmas dinner was well attended in Lucan Golf Club and enjoyed by all, thanks goes to Ann and Denis Kane for organising a lovely evening. Our sincere sympathies goes to Imelda, Pat and Alex and those close to them, who have lost a dear family member over the Xmas period”

School News

Everybody continues to be very busy as we all look forward to the Spring. First and Second Class are preparing for a Drama Workshop which will take place on March 1st . While 3rd and 4the Class were rewarded for their excellent behaviour with a ‘Chocolate Day on Friday February 4th . Everyone had a yummy time!

5th and 6th Class began a six week programme on Drug Awareness on January 30th. The Programme runs for six weeks and judging from their responses, they have learned a great deal about the dangers of all kinds of drugs. The course was provided by the Killinarden Enterprise Centre. They also competed in the Credit Union Quiz in St. Marks GAA Club on Friday February 4th. Well done to everyone in 5th and 6th for taking part and being so well behaved on the day.
All the senior classes were invited to a talk about Dublin Bus given by Joanne Courtney. The children learned about safety on public transport. The Parent Teacher Meetings have been held for all classes except 5th and 6th. Both teachers and parents were very pleased with how they turned out and all the pupils can feel very proud of what they have achieved so far this year.

Mother’s Union

Monday 13th December at 8pm we held a Beetle Drive and
Festive Supper. This was a really successful evening…thoroughly enjoyed by all. What a wonderful supper we produced between us! Thank you everyone.

BOYS BRIGADE

We have re opened after the Christmas break . In order to
make up for lost time due to adverse weather and to allow work on display items, we are extending our times as follows: All section begin at 7.30pm sharp...Anchors will finish at 8.45pm, Juniors will finish at 9.15 pm and Company section will finish at 10 pm.

The leaders are planning some outings for the boys over the next few weeks and we are looking forward to taking part in the drama competition and to hosting the Battalion drill competition in February.

Gift Day

Gift day was in October and as you know we were encouraging parishioners to give as generously as possible to raise funds for the Parish. The amount raised was €3610.00.

Thank you to all who gave, especially in these times of recession.

Women’s World Day of Prayer

Tallaght’s Women’s World day of Prayer service this year takes place here in St. Maelruain’s on Friday 4th March at 8.00pm, all welcome.

There will be a planning meeting in the Parish Centre on Wed16th February at 8pm, anyone interested is welcome to come along.

The Church of Ireland Gazette

The Church of Ireland Gazette is a weekly newspaper which has news from the Church of Ireland from the whole island of Ireland. Thank you to Ronnie Wallace who, until recently, had been looking after the ordering of the Gazette on behalf of the parish for many years.

Ash Wednesday and Lenten Services

Ash Wednesday is on 9th March, which will see the start of our weekly Wednesday evening Lenten services, at 8.00pm.

This year we are planning on using CMS ‘s ‘Discover’ for our Lenten services. This is a dynamic new resource that helps people explore the biblical background to mission.

Christmas Sing Along

We had our Christmas Sing Along on 10th December in the Parish Centre. At lunchtime myself, Ronnie Scott and Billy Gould were on the verge of cancelling the event due to the state of the ice and snow covered car park when a snow plough arrived to clear the entrance to the church gate. The crew very kindly came into the car park and cleared away the top layer of snow and gave us salt and grit to spread in the car park meaning that we could go ahead with the sing along as the car park was now safe. God is good!

We had a lovely evening with a good attendance, I think people were beginning to get cabin fever with the weather and the main roads were fine for driving, so many came along to join in the festive spirit.

I would like to thank Ronnie Scott, the coordinator of the event, for all the work he put in organising the hall, publicity, DJ, raffle and refreshments for the evening. I would like to thank everyone who helped in any way, your efforts are much appreciated and also to those who donated items for the raffle and the gift stall. The DJ played backing music which the Music Group sang festive songs along to and there were even a couple of karaoke solos. Thank you once again to all who helped make the night such a success.

Funerals

We express our condolences to Alex Bryan and family on
the death of his mother Matilda (Tilly) Bryan. Her funeral
took place here in St. Maelruain’s on 22nd December.

The funeral of Anne O’Callaghan took place on 12th January and we extend our sympathies to her brother George O’Callaghan and to Anne’s cousin Peter O’Callaghan who played the organ at the service and to the rest of her family.

Our sincere sympathies to Des Haine and family on the sad loss of Shirley. Shirley passed away after a brave battle against illness over the last number of years. Her funeral took place on 27th January in Taney Parish Church.

Blessing

At the 11.00am service on 26th December the baby son of Tim and Susan (nee Griffin) Holliday, Tullis, was blessed. Tullis had been previously been dedicated in London where the family live.

Service of thanksgiving

On Thursday 13th January we had a service of thanksgiving in memory of Kulea Oropo who you may remember was tragically assassinated last year in Nigeria.

We continue to pray for his wife Lydia and to her children Dimeji and Michelle as they come to terms with the loss of Kulea. It was lovely to welcome back Obinna as Diocesan Chaplain for the service.

National Bible Society of Ireland

Dr. David Hutchinson Edgar will be giving the Bedell Boyle Lecture entitled the King James Version – 400 years on, Thursday 10th February in Purcell House, All Hallows College, Gracepark Road at 8.15pm . Admission is free and all welcome.

Anam Cara Bereavement Event – Dominic Community Centre, Tallaght, Dublin 24

Anam Cara is a national voluntary support group set up by bereaved parents who provide support, understanding and a forum for families who have experienced the death of a child, regardless of age or circumstance of death.

On Monday 14th February Anam Cara will be facilitating a Bereavement Talk at a new venue for our Support group meetings, which takes place on the second Monday of each month.

The event is open to all bereaved parents. Anam Cara doesn’t identify itself by the age of the child, how they died, or when they died. It may have been a cot death or a still birth, suicide, road traffic accident, drug related deaths or serious illness. Anam Cara identifies itself as a group set up by and for parents who have lost a precious son or daughter, trying to find their way through the grief and pain.

The guest speaker for the evening is Ger O’Brien who will give her talk on “Coping as a Bereaved Parent”.

A word from William.........

On Tues 2nd November the I.T.T. prize giving took place in the church, which I opened. The conferral ceremonies took place in the basket ball arena on the following two days which I also attended.

Following the conferrals on the 3rd , I went to a ‘Let’s stop the demand for human trafficking’ conference to challenge men to stand up to the misuse of women.

On 7th November the Archbishop John Neill came to Tallaght for the confirmation of Anita and Benita Joseph, daughters of our Church warden Joseph. Their Mum, Beena, provided a delicious Indian lunch in the parish centre. It was a lovely occasion and it was possibly the last time we will welcome the Archbishop as he is retiring in January. This Sunday was also the date for the return of the Christmas Shoe Box Appeal, the returned boxes went to the new Irish lead ‘Team Hope’.

On Remembrance Sunday we had the act of remembrance with a bugler from the Tallaght Youth Band at a service at 10.45am before the 11am service. We hope that people will support the Tallaght Youth Band concert on Monday 6th Dec at 8,00pm in the Tallaght Community School, Balrothery.

I am delighted that a new principal has been appointed to our Parish School. Ms Berna Daly who, like our former principal Iris comes to us from Rathmichael Parish School, will take up her new post in January and we welcome her and wish her well.

We had a concert in the Church on 19th Nov. organised by and featuring Jim Ward. It was one of the nicest concerts that we have had in recent times, it was both spiritual and yet not too high brow. Unfortunately I had to leave early to attend the ‘Tallaght Person of the Year’.

I attended an International conference on anti Semitism and holocaust denial on 18th and 19th Nov. in Trinity College. I was horrified to find that the Jewish people have been hated and persecuted as long as there have been Jews, even in countries from where they were absent.

On 23rd CMS launched their new course on Local Mission called Discovery which we are considering using for Lent.

On 25th I took part in the Remembrance Mass in Kiltipper Nursing Home, which is an annual event.

May I take this opportunity to wish all the readers of the Losset a very happy Christmas and New Year. I look forward to seeing many of you at the various services over the Christmas period.

Boy’s Brigade

Most of the members braved the freezing conditions to attend the enrolment service on Sunday 28th November.

We are very grateful to Peter O'Callaghan from the 1st Dublin Co, who played the organ in place of the band who were unable to make it from various parts of the city due to the snow. All the leaders along with an almost full turn out of boys were enrolled for the coming
year. Thank you to all who came to the service, which was followed by a cup of tea and some very nice home made goodies, most of which were made by leader Mark Parkhill.

On December 10th, we are expecting a visit from Santa to B.B. We have had a reliable tip off, so Anchor boys better be on their best behaviour between this and then............just in case!

On the same night, all sections will have their Christmas party to finish up this session.

We would be grateful if anybody in possession of any uniforms that are not in use would return them to the company, in order for them to be used by other members. Perhaps you have a uniform that was given to your child and he has not returned to BB. As new uniforms are expensive, we really need them back as soon as possible. Many thanks.

On 4th November Tallaght Mothers Union hosted refreshments following the 11.15am Service in Christ Church Cathedral.

We were very privileged to have Joy Gordon speak to us on 8th November and were also delighted to welcome some Clondalkin Members.Thursday 2nd December 11.15am….Mothers Union Communion Service in Christ Church Cathedral.

SAOIRSE , our local charity, continue to be very grateful for our monthly donations of day to day items. For December they would like black plastic sacks and bubble bath/shower gels or ladies nightwear. Please bring along on 13th December.

School News

We hope that everyone enjoyed the mid- term break and had a happy and safe Halloween

Before the Halloween break, we had a very generous donation of a new computer for the office from a local business man, Mr. Johnnie Lin. He very generously responded to a plea from
Karen, and we are delighted now to have a computer in the office that actually works! Mr. Lin spoke to the children at our Harvest Assembly on Thursday 21st October, and the staff and children were able to show our appreciation to him. At our Harvest Assembly the children brought in lots of food for the Simon Community, which was donated to their Shelter for homeless men and women. Well done to everyone for giving so much- we received a lovely letter from the Simon Community thanking us for the very kind donation. The Board Game Playing Day and the Fancy Dress Party on Friday 22nd October went really well, with 5th and 6th class providing plenty of Halloween games for the children to play. We raised the sum of €148 for Temple Street Hospital.

This year we have decided to support the Liberties Community in their bid to collect food for Christmas Hampers to give to the needy in our community. There will be a box in the school
porch for any items that you would like to donate, and the closing date for the collection of food is Friday 19th November.

We have plenty going on this month and next. Maths for fun is still running in 1st and 2nd Class. We will be starting the Maths for fun in the Infant classroom next so we will be looking for plenty of parents to volunteer. Ms. Boles and Ms. O’Donoghue along with Geraldine and various parents are doing a Power Hour every day with 5th and 6th Class focusing on English Literacy. The children are really enjoying it and have been promised a trip at the end of the Programme as a treat.

The Dental Nurse will be coming to the school on Friday 5th November to talk to parents in the Parents Room. All are welcome to attend for a chat, and a cuppa.

The children in 5th and 6th Class will be going on a field trip to the Croke Park Museum on Friday 5th November.

Next week will be a very busy one in our school. The Book Fair is coming and we will have our own Book Week. There are plenty of activities planned; including Shared Reading and a Storyteller, Mr. Liam Farrell will be coming
to visit as well. The children are busy at the moment reading lots of books for the Readathon which ends on 15th November.

On Thursday 25th November the school will close at 12p.m. for a staff meeting. The school will be closed on Friday 26th November for our annual shopping day.

The Christmas Bazaar, organised by the Parents Association will take place in school on Friday 3rd December. There will be raffle tickets going home soon, so please support the Bazaar in whatever way you can- by buying and selling tickets, by donating gifts and prizes
and by turning up on the day to pick up some bargains! The Bazaar is our main fundraiser of the year, and the money raised will all go towards reducing the cost of school trips for your children.

The Carol Service in St. Maelruain’s Church will take place on Sunday 19th December. We hope to have a great turn out on the day.

All children will be going to the Civic Theatre on Friday 17th December to see ‘Scrooges Christmas’.

The school will close at 12p.m. on Thursday 23rd December for the Christmas Holidays!! That seems a long way off at the moment!!

Bowling Club

“Congratulations to our Miller team who progressed to the second round of their competition. Their next match is drawn against Castleknock Club (away) on Saturday 15th Jan. Our Hope team got a ‘bye’ to the second round, and play Clontarf Club at home on Tuesday 4th. Jan.

Our McIllwaine and Rohu teams are progressing very well. We wish all out teams the best of luck in their matches.

Our Christmas Dinner is on 17th.Dec. at Lucan Golf Club, kindly arranged by Denis and Ann Kane. The Club reopens in the New Year on Tuesday 4th. Jan. May we wish everyone a Very

Our November Drive was held on Monday 15th with a good crowd in attendance.
