I've been microblogging on twitter.com/StoneAtwine. facebook.com/StoneAtwine has also taken up most of my time.

Sometime back I was burgled and because of that, I decided I didn't like where I was staying so I've been house hunting and I finally found a house. I'm back in town, in fact, it's not a house. It's an apartment. I'm moving in today.

I'll give details later.

He fought long and hard in this campaign, and he’s fought even longer and harder for the country he loves. He has endured sacrifices for America that most of us cannot begin to imagine, and we are better off for the service rendered by this brave and selfless leader. I congratulate him and Governor Palin for all they have achieved, and I look forward to working with them to renew this nation’s promise in the months ahead.

I want to thank my partner in this journey, a man who campaigned from his heart and spoke for the men and women he grew up with on the streets of Scranton and rode with on that train home to Delaware, the Vice President-elect of the United States, Joe Biden.

I would not be standing here tonight without the unyielding support of my best friend for the last sixteen years, the rock of our family and the love of my life, our nation’s next First Lady, Michelle Obama. Sasha and Malia, I love you both so much, and you have earned the new puppy that’s coming with us to the White House. And while she’s no longer with us, I know my grandmother is watching, along with the family that made me who I am. I miss them tonight, and know that my debt to them is beyond measure.

To my campaign manager David Plouffe, my chief strategist David Axelrod, and the best campaign team ever assembled in the history of politics – you made this happen, and I am forever grateful for what you’ve sacrificed to get it done.

But above all, I will never forget who this victory truly belongs to – it belongs to you.

I was never the likeliest candidate for this office. We didn’t start with much money or many endorsements. Our campaign was not hatched in the halls of Washington – it began in the backyards of Des Moines and the living rooms of Concord and the front porches of Charleston.

It was built by working men and women who dug into what little savings they had to give five dollars and ten dollars and twenty dollars to this cause. It grew strength from the young people who rejected the myth of their generation’s apathy; who left their homes and their families for jobs that offered little pay and less sleep; from the not-so-young people who braved the bitter cold and scorching heat to knock on the doors of perfect strangers; from the millions of Americans who volunteered, and organized, and proved that more than two centuries later, a government of the people, by the people and for the people has not perished from this Earth. This is your victory.

I know you didn’t do this just to win an election and I know you didn’t do it for me. You did it because you understand the enormity of the task that lies ahead. For even as we celebrate tonight, we know the challenges that tomorrow will bring are the greatest of our lifetime – two wars, a planet in peril, the worst financial crisis in a century. Even as we stand here tonight, we know there are brave Americans waking up in the deserts of Iraq and the mountains of Afghanistan to risk their lives for us. There are mothers and fathers who will lie awake after their children fall asleep and wonder how they’ll make the mortgage, or pay their doctor’s bills, or save enough for college. There is new energy to harness and new jobs to be created; new schools to build and threats to meet and alliances to repair.

The road ahead will be long. Our climb will be steep. We may not get there in one year or even one term, but America – I have never been more hopeful than I am tonight that we will get there. I promise you – we as a people will get there.

There will be setbacks and false starts. There are many who won’t agree with every decision or policy I make as President, and we know that government can’t solve every problem. But I will always be honest with you about the challenges we face. I will listen to you, especially when we disagree. And above all, I will ask you join in the work of remaking this nation the only way it’s been done in America for two-hundred and twenty-one years – block by block, brick by brick, calloused hand by calloused hand.

What began twenty-one months ago in the depths of winter must not end on this autumn night. This victory alone is not the change we seek – it is only the chance for us to make that change. And that cannot happen if we go back to the way things were. It cannot happen without you.

So let us summon a new spirit of patriotism; of service and responsibility where each of us resolves to pitch in and work harder and look after not only ourselves, but each other. Let us remember that if this financial crisis taught us anything, it’s that we cannot have a thriving Wall Street while Main Street suffers – in this country, we rise or fall as one nation; as one people.

Let us resist the temptation to fall back on the same partisanship and pettiness and immaturity that has poisoned our politics for so long. Let us remember that it was a man from this state who first carried the banner of the Republican Party to the White House – a party founded on the values of self-reliance, individual liberty, and national unity. Those are values we all share, and while the Democratic Party has won a great victory tonight, we do so with a measure of humility and determination to heal the divides that have held back our progress. As Lincoln said to a nation far more divided than ours, “We are not enemies, but friends…though passion may have strained it must not break our bonds of affection.” And to those Americans whose support I have yet to earn – I may not have won your vote, but I hear your voices, I need your help, and I will be your President too.

And to all those watching tonight from beyond our shores, from parliaments and palaces to those who are huddled around radios in the forgotten corners of our world – our stories are singular, but our destiny is shared, and a new dawn of American leadership is at hand. To those who would tear this world down – we will defeat you. To those who seek peace and security – we support you. And to all those who have wondered if America’s beacon still burns as bright – tonight we proved once more that the true strength of our nation comes not from our the might of our arms or the scale of our wealth, but from the enduring power of our ideals: democracy, liberty, opportunity, and unyielding hope.

For that is the true genius of America – that America can change. Our union can be perfected. And what we have already achieved gives us hope for what we can and must achieve tomorrow.

This election had many firsts and many stories that will be told for generations. But one that’s on my mind tonight is about a woman who cast her ballot in Atlanta. She’s a lot like the millions of others who stood in line to make their voice heard in this election except for one thing – Ann Nixon Cooper is 106 years old.

She was born just a generation past slavery; a time when there were no cars on the road or planes in the sky; when someone like her couldn’t vote for two reasons – because she was a woman and because of the color of her skin.

And tonight, I think about all that she’s seen throughout her century in America – the heartache and the hope; the struggle and the progress; the times we were told that we can’t, and the people who pressed on with that American creed: Yes we can.

At a time when women’s voices were silenced and their hopes dismissed, she lived to see them stand up and speak out and reach for the ballot. Yes we can.

When there was despair in the dust bowl and depression across the land, she saw a nation conquer fear itself with a New Deal, new jobs and a new sense of common purpose. Yes we can.

When the bombs fell on our harbor and tyranny threatened the world, she was there to witness a generation rise to greatness and a democracy was saved. Yes we can.

She was there for the buses in Montgomery, the hoses in Birmingham, a bridge in Selma, and a preacher from Atlanta who told a people that “We Shall Overcome.” Yes we can.

A man touched down on the moon, a wall came down in Berlin, a world was connected by our own science and imagination. And this year, in this election, she touched her finger to a screen, and cast her vote, because after 106 years in America, through the best of times and the darkest of hours, she knows how America can change. Yes we can.

America, we have come so far. We have seen so much. But there is so much more to do. So tonight, let us ask ourselves – if our children should live to see the next century; if my daughters should be so lucky to live as long as Ann Nixon Cooper, what change will they see? What progress will we have made?

This is our chance to answer that call. This is our moment. This is our time – to put our people back to work and open doors of opportunity for our kids; to restore prosperity and promote the cause of peace; to reclaim the American Dream and reaffirm that fundamental truth – that out of many, we are one; that while we breathe, we hope, and where we are met with cynicism, and doubt, and those who tell us that we can’t, we will respond with that timeless creed that sums up the spirit of a people:

Yes We Can. Thank you, God bless you, and may God Bless the United States of America

He IS NOT SICK.

I usually don't go for concerts and shows but this time my friend bought tickets and invited me to go see Akon.

I was up for it and decided to go see the show only to be told the day of the show that the star would not make it because he is sick. It would be understandable if the guy was actually sick but I have done some research and found out that just the next day, the man was performing at some birthday do.
<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_5igfElU4Or8/SCA0iP3ErhI/AAAAAAAAAG4/WE-9ZPFhENI/s200/akon_clinton+sparks-3.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5197211732963274258" />He was a surprise (imagine surprise)artist at Smashtime Saturdays at Body English - a Las Vegas Nightclub located in the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino. He sang and partied with Leighton Meester (the girl from TV show "Gossip Girl") and friends, actors Joshua Lebar and Sebastian Stan.

He also did a daytime gig the next day Sunday at the poolside where "Sopranos” star Steve Schirripa, Rampage Jackson, and NFL players Jonathan Ogden, John Welborne, Melvin Fowler, Alex Smith and Brian Kelly were present.<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_5igfElU4Or8/SCA2r_3EriI/AAAAAAAAAHA/whlE1kSWCYk/s200/Akon+Rehab_3.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5197214099490254370" />

I wonder what kind of contracts these companies that bring in artists sign with them but the artist should be obliged to cover some costs if he does not make it as promised and has no genuine reason. Now, I hear that Celtel Uganda - the company that was meant to bring in the star - will spend an extra 100,000USD because Akon felt like performing elsewhere.

They have spent over 600,000USD advertising the show. That's before we even talk about the money spent bringing in sound and lighting equipment from South Africa and Kenya. On top of all this, they had to fly in experts and engineers on Thursday and they will fly them again this week because the show has been postponed.

They must book the venue (cricket oval) again and have to fly the man who won the "Live Like A Star" promotion to Kampala again by private chopper.

All this time, they have missed out on some people who had come for this show from Nairobi and Kigali. I doubt they will come back. And I am still wondering if I should go for the show or go to Kigali for the weekend.

The woes of dealing with Akon.

I break into a sweat and think of texting people but I guess it would be rude at 6 in the freakin' morning. What makes it worse is the stupid Marvin Gaye on my laptop wailing about how he needs some lovin'. I think about my situation.

What I finally realize is: I have to choose between being committed and bored or single and lonely. You see, the problem is I would rather be lonely than bored. I know both ways are lose lose but I have to choose something. I guess I'll let the status quo prevail.

I get up, put on the Nike pants that were donated to me by my room mate and head off into the darkness that is Mbarara at 6:30AM. If you want to know what I think I am doing, get this: I am trying to jog because I am bored. I am freezing, but also sweating. My conclusion after about 6 minutes of trying to jog up the hill? It's better to sweat like this with a nice woman in your arms at 6AM than to try running.

People who know will wonder if this is me but lately, I feel drawn to changing my romantic lifestyle. I doubt I have one. What is romance?

Beats Chelsea

I looked on helplessly as The Blues were walloped by Spurs on Sunday evening. What was clear to me on Sunday was the fact that the new Chelsea manager, Avram Grant is just not good enough for a club this big.

What our oligarch owner was thinking when he sacked the Special One for this man is not clear. What is clear is that this new manager was scratching his head after the full ninety minutes. Nothing to say to his players but just scratching his nut. I could not believe it. I don't know if any one else saw this.

Before yesterday's game, I gave him the benefit of doubt thinking: Maybe he can do it, look how far he has come. Same record as Jose in the same time. 2 losses in five months, not bad. But now, I am not so sure.

And his opposite number was looking sharp together with his assistant Gus Poyet, a former Blue. I have to say Ramos is a force to reckon with and with time the big four will realise they have some hard games to play against the man from Sevilla.

I don't have much to say about the players. The best keeper in the world, Petr Cech was caught sleeping for Spurs' second goal. Didier Drogba was probably listening to the 24K gold plated ipod on the pitch. (The freekick was killer though) Lampard looked sharp but he was not enough to win the game.

Good game from Spurs and as for the fans, good things to come for the London Club.

Kizza, a resident of Bulange Zone, was arrested for allegedly stealing two Bibles and eight hymn books from Namirembe Cathedral yesterday. Kizza, who attended the morning service, said he did not know that the polythene bag he had taken had the religious books. I don't know what has gotten into them but they are all pregnant.

All of them. Not one of them is "NOT PREGNANT".

This sends my usually not sexual brain along the lines of: Is it time for me to also do 'the deed'? Can I provide another playmate for my friends' children? My grandma seems to think it's the right thing to do. "Give me a grand child", she says every time I see her.

But here is the problem, I CANNOT have children alone. I need someone?

And I also doubt I am ready. As evidenced by my friend, AA, being a father means staying up all night, not drinking and talking to girls at the bar but taking care of the little rascal when it's your turn.

Will I ever be ready? Time will tell.

The Analyst is a parody writer who writes satirical and sometimes nonsensical articles that are fun to read.

This particular story is not true but a satirical write up of an ongoing media circus regarding the controversial proposed land law amendments that are being proposed by President Museveni. Some of the paragraphs are simply amazing:

"Those 9,000 square miles must be in the heads of Mengo officials or on mars. We haven't seen them anywhere in Uganda, let alone Buganda. Even if you brought the Son of God, Jesus Christ, He wouldn't show you even a square inch of this land," a government spokesman, Mr. Tamalaako Mulundi, told The Analyst.

Mr Tamalaako Mulundi is a actually a variation of the Minister's real name which is Tamale Mirundi. Tamalaako is a word that means the said Minister is not capable of doing his duties and Mulundi in local languages here means implies the minister is from Burundi. Interestingly, the balaalo who the Kabaka says are going to benefit from the land law ammendmets are Ugandans of Rwandese and Burundi (sort of) descent. This shows how The Analyst is playing around with the name to make the whole story satirical.

Another interesting paragraph in the story is this one:

"Google can even get you a picture of a mulalo urinating on the Kabaka's tree or a government official forging the kyapa [title] to the Kabaka's land. So all that monkey business - with due respect to the nkima clan - will be no more," the Mengo source told The Analyst.

This should clearly show that The Analyst is only joking around. Why would the Kabaka be interested in who is urinating on trees?

I am back and I have started working again. I came back early because I thought I needed to check email but I didn't find any important emails.

I don't even have email on the go as my P910i's screen is messed up. I am now shopping for a Nokia e61i. Talking of cellphones, I tested and used my first iPhone this month. My former boss brought it in and I had to configure things for him so I took it for a spin. One of the most amazing things about it is the Internet application which works excellently with our wireless network. I loved browsing on it. We are not supposed to have these in Africa yet but thanks to the guys who unlock them it's working in Uganda.

Back to Christmas day, grandma was really happy, I went to see her in the countryside and had to go to church with her (my first time in about two years). It was great and they made me pay those church fees that are allocated to every individual member. We had lunch with most of the family and then talked about old times. It was fun and I loved it. Finally I had to get back in the evening and we had mad drinks with all my mates at Club Vision Empire.

More soon.

It's been crazy:
a. I resigned from my position(s) at Vision Radio.
b. I got 2 new job offers that are very tempting.
c. I am trying to sort out BlissOne MEDIA so that it can become a profitable venture.

So this weekend is my first one to be home in Mbarara since the beginning of October. I have been on the road having these meetings with potential employers. I actually am not sure if I still want to work for people because being my own boss has brought me a very good feeling. You work as hard as possible yet with no pressure at all.

Anyway, one of the jobs I have been offered seems to be very juicy and I will definitely consider taking it up, depending on the offer I get (if the call does come through) even though it involves moving to Kampala.

It's strange that I don't miss the radio at all. I thought I was gonna miss it so much just before I left but I feel nothing at all. The ever dependent fans have been sending me messages urging me to go back (Some people have been so annoyed with me that they've hurled insults at me on the street). It's great to feel appreciated by the fans but I have to say that I reached a point where I felt that Vision was not the place for me. There were a number of reasons for my leaving (of course the money is part of this) and I just said it's now or never. It's funny how Vision Radio has some of the best equipment and studios in the country yet the human resource part is so rudimentary.

Well, I didn't leave Vision Radio in a bad way and I have good relations with my former boss so I can do any work for them if I am called upon as long as it's not permanent. And I will forever be grateful for the 2 years and 4 months that I was there. The exposure, radio experience and all the guys I worked with were tremendous.

And this week, the local paper wrote that I had left Vision because of small pay to look for big bucks, truth be told I love crazy money but I haven't talked to any journalist and it's interesting how they write stories without contacting the concerned parties.

Anyway, we're back to basics and I am broke and happy. Let me see how this decision works out for me. I guess I wont be happy for long considering that I am broke as a church mouse. But hey the sky is the limit. Let us see what BlissOne MEDIA brings me, Fortune or Unhappiness? Hope the former.

You Will be Sorely Missed Jose

Shock news this morning. I woke up and there were 8 text messages on my phone both from friends and foes in my football supporting madness. Asega wrote "Jose has left the Blues", Hannington went "Gwe what's up man? Are we safe really? Mour is no more. Funny"

I refused to talk about this or even write about it but whenever I turn to the TV or my computer, the bitter truth stares at me. THE BEST IN THE GAME IS GONE. I get thinking about the phrase: No one is bigger than the Club, Mourinho was closest to shattering that statement.

I feel terribly unhappy about Jose's departure and I think Chelsea have made a terrible mistake . He made the premier league different, he was special and he was happy and quick to tell us. There are very few managers that can be popular with fans of bitter rival teams but Mourinho managed to do that. Something the big managers of the league can not lay claim to. He has achieved the job of a lifetime in three years.

I am just getting news that he is negotiating a pay out of about 25m pounds. Good stuff.

Here are some quotes:

"Please don't call me arrogant, but I'm European champion and I think I'm a special one."
Introducing himself to the English press after arriving from Porto in 2004.

"If I wanted to have an easy job... I would have stayed at Porto - beautiful blue chair, the Uefa Champions League trophy, God, and after God, me."
Making a mockery of those who suggest he is big-headed.

"For me, pressure is bird flu. I'm feeling a lot of pressure with the problem in Scotland. It's not fun and I'm more scared of it than football."
Insisting his side wouldn't catch a cold as Man Utd breathed down their necks.

"Look at my haircut. I am ready for the war."
Unveiling his new Action Man haircut.

The Lamborghini Reventon costs a whooping 1.4m USD before taxes and the company intends to make only 20 cars. They sold out 4 days after the announcement. The car which looks sleek in metallic grey is the most expensive car that the company has ever built.

In typical aggresive Lambo tradition the new car was named after a bull that killed metador Felix Guzman in 1943. They will start production in January and deliver the cars to the selected owners in October 2008.

The car goes from 1 to 100km/h in 3.4 seconds.

We witnessed amazing designs by the young women and at the end of the day, we unanimously decided to crown Philipa (left in paw paw leaves and stems) as MUST Woman of the Year 2007.

However, what was disappointing was the fact that some girls could not answer the easiest of questions. One girl was asked the university motto and she just looked on sheepishly. Another incident was when another girl was asked to say CHOGM if full and she just stammered Commonwealth Conference... (Mark you, this should be the easiest question as CHOGM has been in the Ugandan media for the last one year). Uganda is hosting CHOGM in 2007.

The other girl pictured (below Philipa) was one of the girls that impressed me with her poise, smile and confidence. She came in as first runner up. At the end of the day, I think this was a well organized event. Only if they had hired BlissOne MEDIA to do the event management, it would have come out better...

Britney Spears had a terrible performance Sunday night at the VMAs and 'Ye says "They exploited Britney by helping to end her career"

This brother was also whining about many other things like not winning anything on the night, being confined to performing in a suite as opposed to opening the show with Stronger and he was also mad that Pamela Anderson introduced his act with this statement "One of the best times I've ever had was making out with the next performer in the middle of the desert. I think I had my tongue so far down his throat I could taste his fiancée—and I might need a repeat performance later tonight."

Talk about a whiner, I am waiting to see who outsells the other between him and 50 Cent as they both released their albums on 11th September.
