Statistics show that the negative health effects of smoking result in more deaths in the United States than murder, substance abuse, alcohol, motor vehicle accidents, suicide and AIDS… combined!

The dangers of smoking extend far beyond the effects to the body of the smoker. Their immediately family, the environment, society, and even the economy are all affected. Did you know that there are more than seven hundred chemicals added in cigarettes? In fact, many of them are classified as being toxic and aren’t even allowed to be used in food production!

A cigarette, after being ignited, has the potential to reach over two thousand degrees! This extremely high level of heat is responsible for releasing the above mentioned toxins into your body and the air around you. Some of the toxins found in cigarettes include carbon monoxide, arsenic, cyanide, and numerous cancer-causing chemicals as well. Every time you inhale with a cigarette, you are flooding your body with these.

Dangers Presented by Nicotine

Nicotine is the addictive substance in cigarettes and represents one of the primary dangers. It is both colorless and odorless and highly addictive both physiologically and mentally. Cigarette companies use specially calculated levels of nicotine to encourage an addiction.

The drug enters your body in the form of tiny drops that attach themselves to the tar found in the smoke of the cigarette. From there, it flies directly into both of your lungs, followed by its entrance into your bloodstream. Within a matter of seconds, it goes straight to your brain. Shortly thereafter, it has successfully infiltrated your entire system, killing you slowly.

One of the effects of nicotine is an increased blood pressure and a faster heartbeat. After inhaling from a lit cigarette, the smoker begins to feel much more at ease and comfortable. After approximately thirty to forty minutes, the majority of the nicotine has exited the system, leaving the subject with a feeling of anxiety.

This effect encourages the user to grab yet another cigarette to calm the feelings caused by the crash resulting from the exiting of the nicotine.

The Dangers of Tar

Nicotine is not the only danger from smoking. Tobacco, which is what a cigarette is composed of, builds up inside your lungs over time. As mentioned earlier, the smoke from a cigarette can reach extreme temperatures, which burns cilia (which are tiny hairlike fingers) whose mission is to capture any harmful substances before they enter your lungs. This further promotes bodily damage, since a natural defense mechanism has been destroyed.

Carbon Monoxide

Carbon monoxide is a toxic substance that can lead to death if a human is exposed to a high enough amount. This substance is also a prime component in cigarettes. As you breathe in the smoke, it increases the level of this chemical in your lungs, which prevents them from in-taking the proper amount of oxygen, which is necessary for survival.

Due to this lack of oxygen, a smoker is required to put much more effort into any type of physical activity, and as a result, their heart is put under severe stress. Carbon monoxide also has the ability to strain your visual system, internal clock, and coordination.

The Potential for Disease

“Smoking causes lung cancer, heart disease, emphysema, and may complicate pregnancy.”
- Surgeon General’s Warning Located on Cigarette Packaging

Can you guess what the number one cause of death in America each year is? That’s right, cigarettes. The Surgeon General has a label printed on each and every package of cigarettes warning smokers of a variety of diseases, cancers and other health complications.

Smoking is also responsible for a number of respiratory issues that dramatically reduce the quality of life for those affected. They can prevent you from enjoying any activities, life in general, and also massively reduce your life expectancy. Still think there’s a benefit to smoking? Think again.

Over time, anyone affected by cigarettes becomes significantly more likely to suffer from debilitating health complications such as damage to the arteries, heart disease, lung cancer, cancer in your larynx, esophagus, bladder, kidney, and more. Women may suffer from pregnancy complications and cancer of their cervix.

As time continues to pass, a resistance is created in the lungs that slowly prevents oxygen from entering them. There are also cosmetic problems as a result of smoking – yellow teeth, stinky breath, stained fingers, and more. Your house and personal belongings will also be coated in thin layers of smoke.

The Economic Effects of Smoking

Think about the average price of a pack of cigarettes. Recent statistics show this number to be at about four dollars, give or take. Now, let’s do the math and assume you only smoke one pack per day, at $4 each… that equals a total of over $1,500 per year! That money could be much better spent, right? Smoking presents a large cost to anyone maintaining this unhealthy way of life.

Medical Expenses

Are you aware of the extreme costs of medical treatment these days? You’ve probably heard about them in the news or from your friends and family. Perhaps you’ve even experienced them yourself. Smokers have increased insurance premiums and may even deny you many types of coverage.

Getting the diseases outlined above treated are horrifically expensive and will certainly burn a hole in your wallet – pun intended. Plus, you might have to take off work and spend your time in a hospital bed, instead. So now you’ve now not only wasted your money on cigarettes, but you’re spending it on medical treatment and/or raised insurance premiums, and not bringing in any additional money.

Secondhand Smoke

Cigarette smoke doesn’t only affect your life, it affects the lives of everyone around you who is forced to be exposed to it. They suffer even more dangerous medical effects from your bad habit because the smoke to which they are exposed is not even filtered!

Cosmetic Damages

Your breath will smell terrible, your teeth will be stained, and your clothing will reek of smoke and may even be discolored. Darker gums are also an effect of smoking, as well as premature aging and wrinkles.

Miscellaneous Problems

A notable number of house fires have been caused by cigarettes that were not properly extinguished. There is also a significant adverse effect to the environment, caused by the release of carbon monoxide and other chemicals found in cigarettes.

As mentioned earlier, many insurance plans have higher premiums for those who smoke. Some companies may even refuse to extend coverage to you. Your bad habit could also put your pension and social security at risk.

The average person, when asked if they find smoking to be unattractive, would respond in the affirmative. Nobody wants to kiss someone who tastes like an ashtray. They wouldn’t want to cuddle with someone whose clothing smells like smoke. Your skin, hair and nails are also affected.

Finally, we can’t neglect the emotional costs caused by smoking… addictions can restrict your freedom and impair your desired lifestyle. You’re also hurting your family and will be faced with a lot of pressure to finally give up your smoking addiction.

One of the ways that smoking causes bad breath is through its ability to allow nicotine to build up throughout your mouth. It dries everything out, decreasing the level of available moisture. It also goes a step further by decreasing saliva production, which is critical to a healthy mouth because saliva washes your mouth clean throughout the day.

Smoking is not the only cause of bad breath, however. Some of the most commonly experienced issues that result in less-than appealing breath are poor hygiene, such as a lack of proper brushing or flossing, or in more severe cases, gum disease or gingivitis.

Waking up in the morning with bad breath is normal and extremely common. This occurs simply because of the fact that while you sleep, your mouth loses moisture and becomes drier than normal. Shortly after being awake, you will notice that the moisture and saliva production return to normal.

There are a variety of other substances that can lead to bad breath, as well. Some examples would be various foods, like garlic, or medications. Certain foods have unique chemicals that are absorbed into your body, then exhaled from your lungs later in the day. Alcohol also has a tendency to produce a foul smelling breath, though these effects are often temporary and will disappear after a bit of time.

Pieces of food can often get stuck in-between your teeth, under your tongue, or even beneath your gums, and the scent of this food will be picked up by other individuals when you talk or breathe. It can also result in a variety of gum diseases and help cause plaque build up. However, the smell of a cigarette is, undoubtedly, a prime example of bad breath.

Simply put, the more activities you engage in that reduce the production of saliva, the more likely you are making it that you will suffer from bad breath. If you have any medical problems or diseases related to your mouth, these conditions can be exacerbated by smoking cigarettes, which also causes an exorbitant amount of mouth decay.

If you’re self-conscious about your breath, smoking cigarettes is clearly not a good idea. They contain high levels of tar, nicotine, and other chemicals that will, over time, build up on the inside of your mouth, especially in hard-to-reach places, not to mention the drying effects that cigarette smoke can cause. As you know, from what was outlined above, the dryer your mouth, the worse.

If you insist on smoking, but still want to handle your breath, it is recommended that you carry out an exceptional dental hygiene routine consisting of brushing and flossing, followed by the use of a quality mouthwash. Sugar-free gum may also be advisable.

Smokers should also find themselves drinking a lot of water, since this can help combat the dryness in your mouth.

If you are seeking a permanent or long-term solution, the only one that exists is to completely give up smoking – plain and simple. Following a step-by-step routine with support is the best method through which to do this. Regardless of your status as a smoker, proper hygiene is always advised.

Despite it being illegal for teens under the age of 18 to purchase cigarettes in most of the developed world to include the United States, there are still more than 3 million teen smokers in the U.S. Alone. The time to educate your teen about smoking is in the pretween and tween years. If your teen already smokes or you think that they do, its not too late to continue trying to educate him or her on the dangers of smoking with an eye to not trying to be to pushy with them. Many teens who successfully quit smoking, do so by being treated as an adult by their parents who take a measured approach to educating their teen on the dangers of smoking. The following are some facts that you may find useful if talking to your teenager or tween about the dangers of smoking.

More than 90% of adults who smoke started when they were a teenager.

There are more than 3 million teenagers who smoke.

More than 3,000 teenagers and tweens start smoking every day.

More than 20 % of American teenagers smoke.

More than 6 million American teenagers smoke today despite the education efforts of the past two decades.

More than 1,000 of the 3,000 teenagers and tweens who start smoking today will eventually die from complications created by smoking.

Tweens and Teens who have both parents that smoke are twice as likely to start smoking than those kids who have non-smoking parents.

The following facts are derived from reports the U.S. EPA has reported over the past two decades:

There are more than 12 million tweens and teens who live in a home where there is at least one person who smokes.

Nonsmokers who are regularly exposed to second hand smoke are 25 percent more likely to get coronary heart disease when compared to nonsmokers.

Almost three quarters of children in the United States have been found to have cotinine in their blood which comes from nicotine.

More than 3,000 adults who don’t smoke die from complications attributed to second hand smoke annually.

Second hand smoke has been found to be the cause of chest discomfort, reduced lung function, coughing, and phlegm in nonsmoking adults and children.

There are more than 200,000 respiratory tract infections every year in children and infants in the U.S. Attributed to secondhand smoke which results in almost 15,000 trips to the hospital.

Secondhand smoke increases the risk of children to get middle-ear disease or have reduced lung function.

There are more than 3 million children in the United State who suffer from asthma or asthma-like conditions. Almost 1/5 of these children have more frequent asthma attacks due to the effects of secondhand smoke.

There are more than 4,000 toxins found in secondhand smoke to include ammonia, formaldehyde, carbon monoxide, and more. Four known carcinogens are found in second hand smoke to include benzene, 4-aminobiphenyl,2-naphthylamine, and polonium-210.

We all know that smoking is a dangerous and addictive habit. The negative effects of smoking are even worse for pregnant women since continuing to smoke will affect both the mother but also the unborn child. The following are pregnancy smoking facts for you to consider if you or someone you know is pregnant and needs additional information to help them make the decision to stop smoking.

Pregnancy Smoking Facts

In the early 2000s, more than 11 % of pregnant mothers smoked. This number has not gone down significantly since then.

If you are a mother and smoke while breast feeding, you can pass along the nicotine to your baby through your breast milk.

If you are a woman who smokes more than ½ a packa a day, then you can experience an irregular menstrual cycle and may find it harder to get pregnant in the future.

Babies that are born to moms who smoke have a higher rate of bronchitis, asthma, and get colds more often than kids who are born to non-smokers. They will also have double the odds of eventually developing asthma than children born to non-smoking moms.

Women who smoke normally experience menopause earlier than women who have quit smoking or have never smoked at all.

Smoking during pregnancy can result in slowed growth of your baby due to the oxygen being decreased and the carbon monoxide intake increased while their brain and other body parts are forming and growing during the pregnancy.

You will pass along toxins and nicotine to your baby by smoking during pregnancy.

Your baby on average will weigh up to seven ounces lighter than a baby born to a non-smoking mother.

By smoking, you increase the odds of your baby being born with a birth defect or other abnormality.

The odds of having a miscarriage, still birth, or premature labor is increased by continuing to smoke during your pregnancy.

A major factor considered by current smokers trying to make the decision to quit tobacco cigarettes is how much weight gain they will experience when kicking the habit. For many, this factor can be enough to preclude them from making the attempt to stop smoking. If you do manage to stop smoking and start to see significant weight gain, it can also be enough to make you relapse to smoking. Weight gain can be overcome, however, if you take the appropriate steps to mitigate any potential gain you may see when stopping smoking.

Why Do You Gain Weight When You Quit Smoking?

When you smoke, your metabolism is increased slightly over what it normally should be. If you smoke a pack or more a day, the act of smoking will burn 200 ore more calories a day. Smoking will also dampen your appetite, so when you stop smoking you may find yourself eating more food than you did previously. It is normal to see a weight gain of 5 to 10 pounds during the first 3 months of being off of cigarettes if you maintain the same diet that you had when you were smoking. A common way to combat this weight gain is to incorporate a basic walk into your daily routine as Dr. Oz recommends in order to burn additional calories as well as replace the act of smoking with physical activity.

Why Does Your Appetite Increase When You Stop Smoking?

When you initially quit smoking, many people experience an increased appetite. This is normally due to two reasons: 1 – Cigarettes have suppressed your appetite, or 2 – You are using food to replace smoking. Many smokers have avoided eating a large number of snacks by smoking when the normal urge to snack has arisen. When they kick the habit, this urge is then replaced by eating. Other people use eating as a way to take the place of the cigarette void when they initially quit smoking. Women have also been found to be more likely to return to smoking due to weight gain than men.

How Can You Avoid Weight Gain when Quitting Smoking?

If you are concerned with quit smoking weight gain, then there are a couple of things that you can do in order to mitigate the potential gain. First, is since we know that your metabolism will likely slow down a bit after you kick the habit, taking up regular exercise can help you reduce the effects of the weight gain. To be effective, you will need to exercise at least 5 days a week. Many people have simply turned to regular 30 minute or longer daily walks in order to help with the weight gain. If you already work out regularly and smoke, then you will want to consider increasing the number of calories that you burn daily.

Another action that you can do to mitigate weight gain concerns is to eat healthier. For many people, this can be simply preparing a “Healthy Snack Kit” so that you are not tempted to eat candy bars or chips for snacks at work or school. Some examples of healthy snacks used by others include baby carrots, celery, fat free popcorn, sunflower seeds, water, fresh fruit, and even hard candies if you have a sweet tooth. You can also make an attempt to remove high fat foods from your diet at home to help reduce the weight gain.

When you are making the effort to stop smoking, however, be careful to not make too drastic of a change in your diet. Many smokers are still smoking today because they tried to combine too many “life events” with their stop smoking efforts which ultimately resulted in failure. At the end of the day, it will be a lot easier for you to lose weight than to overcome lung cancer.

Nicotine is the naturally occurring chemical in the tobacco plant which helps prevent insects from eating the plant. Nicotine is a toxin that can kill if ingested directly, but when ingested through smoking tobacco is one of the most addictive substances on earth.

How Does Your Body Become Addicted to Nicotine?

When you smoke a tobacco cigarette, nicotine generates dopamine which provides significant stimulation to your body’s nervous system. It also triggers a release of adrenaline in your body as well as stimulating the sertonin pathways that impact your mood and impulsive behavior. Once your body experiences these effects from the nicotine, it drives you to want more by smoking additional cigarettes.

Your Brain Creates the Nicotine Dependency

When you ingest nicotine and it reaches your brain, your body’s defense mechanisms attempt to diminish the effects of the chemical by growing additional receptors (referred to as acetylcholine) in order to better disperse the nicotine. Unfortunately, this also creates a greater dependency of your body on nicotine. When you try to quit smoking, this increased dependency on nicotine makes the nicotine withdrawal symptoms more severe. If you try to stop smoking cold turkey, there is a significant chance of having large mood shifts, increased anxiety, and a generally feeling of discomfort associated with your nicotine addiction.

How Does Your Body Recover from Nicotine Addiction?

If you have made the decision to stop smoking and are successful in quitting tobacco cigarettes, your body will not recover from its nicotine addiction overnight. Your brain will need time in order to get its receptors used to the absence of nicotine again. This process is referred to as down-regulation. As this is occurring, your mind will also need to recondition itself to not intaking nicotine at traditional times of the day such as after meals, while drinking, and during breaks at work. You will also need time to find activities to do other than smoke in order to help prevent yourself from relapsing.

In the short-term, your body’s nicotine reserves will be cut in half about every two hours and 72 hours for your blood to be nicotine free. At this point, many smokers who try to quit smoking cold turkey fail due to the increased anxiety and nicotine withdrawal symptoms realized at this point in their efforts to stop smoking.

Problems with Nicotine Replacement Products

Nicotine Replacement Therapies try to convince consumers that they should gradually wean themselves off of their nicotine addiction, instead of quitting the substance altogether. Some NRT’s make the insinuation that the nicotine contained in their product(s) is somehow different from that found in traditional tobacco cigarettes. This is not the case, however, as the nicotine found in NRT’s is just as addictive as that found in tobacco. Now many people have successfully quit using NRT’s, but if you are looking to make a decision on what program/product to use to help you stop smoking, there are some facts that you should know before making a decision on what path you will take on your way to quitting smoking:

If you don’t use any product or system, the odds of quitting smoking is about 10%

Some studies in the early 2000s showed that using over the counter nicotine gum only resulted in a 7% chance of being nicotine free at the 6 month point.

Almost 40% of nicotine gum users have used the product for more than 6 months.

If you fail to stop smoking using the patch, don’t try it again. Some studies have found that if you try to use the patch a second time, you have a greater chance of relapsing to smoking again.

Combining stop smoking products with a support system will increase your odds of stopping smoking almost three-fold.

A lot of smokers fall under the misconception that cigarette filters help make smoking cigarettes healthier. Others fall into the trap that if they smoke a “low-tar” or “light” cigarette, or alternatively smoke a pipe or cigar, and/or chew tobacco that it is not as damaging to their health. The science, unfortunately, shows that using all of the above can cause significant health issues in smokers with the only real healthy alternative being to stop smoking cigarettes for good.

What Ingredients are in Tobacco Cigarettes?

In addition to tobacco, traditional cigarettes also contain paper that has a number of chemicals added to the cellulose that help give them their white look, have an even burn, and nicer looking ash. In order to seal the paper, tobacco companies use glue and imprint their monogram on the paper using ink. Unfortunately, unlike electronic cigarette companies, Big Tobacco still does not release an exact ingredient list for consumers to review, so you don’t really now all of the chemicals that are added to the cigarette filter or actual product.
Cigarette filters are comprised of four components. These contain fiber that is glued together along with various chemical additives that help improve the taste of the cigarette and speed up the rate that nicotine is ingested by your body. The actual cigarette filter is the primary determinant on if a cigarette brand is labeled “ultra light” or “light” since their filters contain miniature holes in them theoretically allowing additional air to be ingested when smoking the cigarette. This dilution reduces the nicotine and tar levels ingested allowing the “light” branding to be applied to the cigarette brand name.

How Cigarette Filters Work

Approximately 30-35 years ago, the general public started becoming concerned that smoking may be harmful for your body. As a result, Big Tobacco decided to come up with cigarette filters to help “filter” the unhealthy parts of the smoke. Machine testing of the cigarettes of the time did show that the levels of nicotine and tar were reduced. The problem with this manner of testing, however, is that when you smoke, you cover the holes of the filter with your fingers preventing the additional air from entering the flow into your body. Also, when people who smoke light cigarettes inhale, they normally take deeper breaths and hold the smoke inside of their lungs longer which counter acts any reduction of nicotine and tar created by the cigarette filter.

Smoking inside of your home or vehicle can leave a persistent and unpleasant smell well after the cigarette has been smoked. Through in the irritation that the remnants of cigarette smoke can entail for those with asthma and allergies, and getting rid or eliminating cigarette odor from your home or car can become a major priority. The first step that many people take when trying to eliminate cigarette odor from their home or car is to use air fresheners or aromatic candles which end up layering the cigarette smoke odor with a sweet smell. The following are some steps that you can take to get rid of smoke odor in your home or car before going to spend money on a more expensive piece of equipment such as a smoke eater or ionizing air cleaner.

Home Remedies to Eliminate Cigarette Odor

1 – Wash Everything You Can

Doesn’t seem too complicated right? If you have one room that just stinks from cigarette odor, wash or dry clean everything that you can in the room. If it has carpets, go rent a steam cleaner and clean the carpet, couches, etc as well. Once you’re done, the smell should improve.

2 – Vacuum the Floor

If you let people smoke in the home, its inevitable that some cigarette ash will fall on the carpet. You may not even notice the ash depending on the color of carpet that you have. Vacuum the carpet, or sweep hard wood floors before starting to use chemicals on the room to remove odor.

3 – Set Out Charcoal

Put some containers open to the air that have charcoal in them around the room or your vehicle. It will take about a week, but the charcoal will do an effective job of absorbing the smoke odor from the atmosphere and will result in an improvement in the overall smell of the room.

4 – Set Out White Vinegar

For the first evening, put out some bowls of white vinegar in addition to the charcoal. These will do well to help get rid of the smokey smell…but you will of course smell vinegar in the morning.

5 – Put Baking Soda on Everything

Not electronic devices, but just about anything else that can get smelly can take a good dose of baking soda. Whether its your couch, carpet, car seats, or floor rug, putting baking soda on the surfaces for a few hours and then vacuuming off will significantly improve the odor of your room or car after cigarette smoking has occurred. Make sure you try out the baking soda on a small part of the couch or carpet before trying the remedy, however, as some materials and color combinations will not take nicely to it.

6 – Use Coffee Grounds Around the Room

Coffee grounds are another ingredient that can help absorb cigarette odor in your home. If you take some bags of grounds that have been used and tie them off so the grounds don’t spill, then you can place them around the room for a day to help absorb the odor.

7 – Clean Your Light Bulbs

That’s right. Ever look at where the smoke goes when someone smokes inside? That’s right, towards the light. Then, when you turn the light on during subsequent days it will release more odor. When you clean the light bulbs, remove them, lightly wet down with a damp paper cloth, and let dry before replacing in the lamp fixture.

8 – Opening Your Doors and Windows

Another easy one, but opening all of your windows and doors for a day or at least several hours will help get the cigarette odor out of you home.

That’s it. 8 tips that you can use to help eliminate cigarette odor from your home or car before spending big bucks on professional cleaning or other electronic air cleaners. Of course the best way to remove cigarette odor is to just not smoke in your home or car !

Most consumers have heard about Dr. Mehmet Oz from his appearances on the Oprah Winfrey Show. Dr. Oz is also known as “America’s Doctor, ” the host of the Dr. Oz Show, is Vice-Chair and Professor of surgery at Columbia University, and a published author on general wellness. He uses a team of more than 20 MD’s who are experts in their fields to promote wellness, and helping consumers get healthier. Early in 20008, Dr. Oz outline the basics of how to effectively create and stick to a stop smoking plan in order to kick the tobacco habit for good.

Dr. Oz’s Stop Smoking Basics

When Dr. Oz first appeared on Oprah to cover stop smoking topics, he made the point that from his experience, quitting smoking is more about fear and less about will power. With more than 500,000 people dieing each year from first or second hand smoke, instead of being self-critical and failing to take action to give up tobacco cigarettes, you should seek out the stop smoking help and stop smoking aids that you need to quit. With nicotine addiction being equated to the same level of addiction seen in heroine addicts, trying to quit smoking for good is one of the hardest things you can attempt to do in life. Add on the habits formed while smoking such as the hand-to-mouth motion of smoking, the time and locations for taking a break, etc and stopping is not going to be an easy thing to accomplish.

Dangers of Smoking

Many parents don’t realize it, but when smoking in the car with their children, enough second hand smoke is inhaled by your kids that approximately 1 in 4 smokes-worth of toxins are inhaled by your kids. This can result in various physical problems being experienced by the children to include emphysema, cancer, heart disease, asthma, SIDS, and COPD. The majority of traditional tobacco cigarettes have more than 4,000 toxins and more than 60 carcinogens that will have short and long term effects on your health.

Dr. Oz’s High Level Steps to Stop Smoking

When you read Dr. Oz’s book and website on how to quit smoking for good, the rough outline of the steps to take to kick the habit are:
1 – Take Dr. Oz’s quiz on Oprah’s website to determine what type of smoker that you are.
2 – Get yourself ready mentally and physically to stop smoking. You will need to set a date that you will quit and start incorporating healthy habits in your lifestyle before you quit.
3 – See your doctor and find a support network to help you prepare for your quit day.
4 – Make a plan to prevent relapse. Find new activities to take your mind off of smoking and determine how to avoid being placed in situations that you may be tempted to smoke again.

Additional Guidance from Dr. Oz on Stopping Smoking

When you read further about the Dr. Oz plan, he provides additional information to help you in your efforts to get off of traditional tobacco cigarettes:

Days 1- 30:
He recommends not to stop yet. Find a physical activity such as walking to do every day for 30 minutes and talk to someone about what you’re doing when done each day. This will ultimately help with the weight gain you may experience after stopping, but it is giving you an activity to do every day to help take the place of smoking.

Days 31-32: If approved through your doctor, consider taking Wellbutrin once a day in the morning to battle the cigarette cravings that will develop. Not everyone can take Wellbutrin and specifically those who have high blood pressure or a seizure disorder may not take the drug. You wll need to continue walking every day at this stage of your quit smoking efforts.

Day 33: Make this your quit smoking day. You will need to get rid of all of your tobacco products and related material. If using a nicotine patch as prescribed by your doctor this will be the day to start taking the patch while remaining on Wellbutrin and continue walking every day.

The Dr. outlines that the hardest days in your quit smoking efforts will be the 3rd through the 5th day, but once you make it to overall day 40, or the 7th day after stopping you are on track for remaining off of tobacco cigarettes for good. You can read more on Stop Smoking from Dr. Oz in his book, YOU: The Owner’s Manual.
