Discussion about whether the Christian understanding of marriage has any public benefit to society. Panel will include John Anderson, former Deputy Prime Minister, and Professor Patrick Parkinson AM, specialist in family law, child protection.

Churches only will be permitted to register to receive the stream.

The Book of Hebrews

In a world governed by political power, global financial systems, scientific advances and computer technology, you could be excused for thinking that a 2000 year old book that deals with topics like animal sacrifies, ancient priesthoods and rituals, and systematic theology is a little out of date. Indeed many would see the book of Hebrews as such a book.

After all, no one knows for sure who wrote it, when they wrote, where they wrote, to whom they wrote, or why it was written in the first place. In these ways, the book is a mystery.

However, to allow these issues to stop us from reading it would be a grave mistake, for the book of Hebrews is a treasure trove that all Christians should take time to delve into.

Far from being a collection of miscellaneous theology, it is an intensely practical book. It seems that it was written as a personal exhortation from a preacher to a particular group of Christians who were struggling in their faith. They faced persecution, temptation and the tyranny of time as their once vibrant faith came under severe strain.

So if you’ve ever felt like the world is against you as a Christian, or experienced opposition; if you’ve ever felt that it’s all too hard to keep on believing in the face of a world that has many competing philosphies; or if you’ve ever just felt like giving up because your faith doesn’t feel as “exciting” as it once did, then Hebrews is th book for you.

So, come and join us over the next couple of months as we delve into this book and listen to all the encouragement and challenge God has in store for us through its pages.

The Youth Group - The Couch Camp

The Camp will be on from 4-8 July at Castlereagh Academy near Penrith. The cost of the camp is $295 pp (however, if finances are an issue please speak to Peter Swann). Notes are now available at the back of the Church. Also it was decided by Parish Council that the leaders will be asked to pay for one-third of the costs ($100). If you would like to sponsor a leader to help lower the costs for them, please speak to Peter Swann.
