WELLSBORO, Penn. – June 8, 2008 – Antoine L’Estage and Nathalie Richard, from St. Jean-sur-Richelieu, Quebec, overcame a blown turbocharger and heavy competition from the Subarus and Mitsubishis to guide their 2007 Hyundai Tiburon to victory at the 32nd running of the Waste Management Susquehannock Trail Performance Rally presented by Citizens & Northern Bank and sanctioned by Rally America.

L’Estage, driving the lone Hyundai in the field, settled in early in the two-day rally through the state of Pennsylvania Department of Natural Resources forests and Waste Management property roads while the top points drivers either crashed or had mechanical problems, and was there at the end to take 17-second win over the 2006 Subaru Impreza WRX STI of Tanner Foust (Capistrano Beach, Calif.) and co-driver Christine Beavis (San Diego, Calif.).

Forty-one cars took the green flag in front of the Wellsboro Chamber of Commerce, including the two cars that did not finish yesterday... No sooner had the Asaph stage (#4) started then the #199 Pastrana/Ringer Subaru rolled over in the middle of the stage, going off the course...Both driver and co-driver were out of the car and okay, and the car was towed to service for possible repairs and a chance to continue the rally for testing (they are out of the rally for points and position). Registration open for "Relay for Life Rally", support event of STPR

A time-speed-distance rally designed for any legal vehicle, within the legal speed limit, on high quality paved and unpaved roads in Tioga County. This event will not use the forest roads of the Performance Rally. The instructions will have a mileage to each turn, and are intended to be easy to follow. There are no tricks or traps involved in following the course. Awards in four classes: Novice (less than six (6) rallies by anyone in the car); Stock (stock odometer & single memory calculator); Limited (any equipment which cannot accumulate time and distance simultaneously, including non-programmable calculator, relocated odometer, - SCCA class "L" equipment; and Equipped (anything goes). Door Prizes, too. No limit to the number of people in each car. Limited to the first 50 paid entries.

WELLSBORO, Penn. – April 22 – For the 32nd year, the tradition of rally cars thundering through the state forests near the Pennsylvania Grand Canyon will again announce the coming of spring to Tioga County, but, like all traditions, time brings changes and improvements.

For this event, the biggest changes include a new event sponsor – Waste Management, North America’s largest recycler, and a new format which includes rallying for the first time on Friday as well as Saturday.

Other firsts for this North Central Pennsylvania classic include a spectator-friendly schedule which includes daylight-only competition, and the use of the Tioga County Fairgrounds for two special close-course stages which will provide additional excitement. As always, STPR is an alcohol-free event...
