Last night was the first Night Market of the year! The Food Trust came to Fairmount Ave to set up shop, which was really convenient for me since I live in that area. I met up with Ces and my friend Ryan and we enjoyed a scoop of Little Baby's Ice Cream and some delicious empanadas from The Bao Truck.

Monday Night Magic

Yesterday Jonifin and I went to NYC to see our friend RanD Shine perform live at Monday Night Magic. He KILLED it. The crowd absolutely loved him. And as always, it's fun to take a day trip to New York. It's good to get outside of Philly and visit places outside of my own bubble.

When the weather got warmer I knew it was time to break out the booze in the park. Right now it's that perfect weather right before it starts getting too humid in Philadelphia, so I met up with a friend and looked for greener pastures.

Every good fashion blogger needs a great photographer standing behind them, or well, in front of them. While I (Chaucee) provide most of the photographic content on Streets & Stripes, there's something that I just can't do without some help. And that is take photos of myself for the weekly style posts. For a little while now there's been a man who's been absolutely essential in creating content on Streets & Stripes, and I'd love to take a moment to introduce you to one of my favorite Fellow Philadelphians, Jonifin Marvin!

Jonifin has been doing photography for over 5 years. He started out as a film student at The Art Institute of Philadelphia. During his studies he took a photography class and his interest was piqued. He started out with a black and white film camera which he brought along to family gatherings and other events to start shooting. After scoring a gig work for HBO, he found that he couldn't put the camera down.

When I asked where he liked to shoot in Philadelphia he gave an interesting answer. "I like to shoot at places that most people would forget to shoot." I've also noticed that Jonifin is inspired by the urban setting. He loves shooting scenes with cobblestones, bricks, train tracks, overpasses, etc.

One of his favorite shoots he's worked on was a Dada inspired photoshoot.

"My favorite project was the Dada inspired photo shoot. Dada is an abstract art genre, where artists from the early 1900’s used a lot of ready-made material and crafted it into art. They used what was around them. It wasn’t a widely accepted genre, but it’s a style of art I enjoy working in. I worked with a designer who was also passionate about the Dada genre, and together we worked to create three different looks."

His equipment of choice is a purist choice. For photography he shoots almost exclusively with a Canon 50mm lens. For video he also shoots with a 50mm lens, but this time he prefers Nikon (attached with a converter ring). His camera of choice is the Canon 60D.

Can I hold my own intervention? My admiration for stripes knows no bounds. This skirt from Asos caught my eye and I had to add it to my collection. It's such a great length for walking around a windy city, and of course ... you know I have a thing for stripes.

City Hopping // Denver

Here are a few photos from our past days in Denver. It's a nice city, but totally different than Philly. I feel like there is a lot more room and (of course) it's cleaner :P My family is actually looking to move out to Colorado but I'm not quite sure if I'll be following. I love the East Coast, the urban and the grit, and moving out west would be a bit hard for me. Plus, Philly has my heart : )

This is what I wore to the Philly Poshmark Party last Tuesday. I wanted to wear something that I just felt really good in. The silhouette of this dress is pretty daring after eating Chick-fil-a for lunch, but I was feeling a little brave that night : )

Today I'm jetting off to Colorado to visit my brother who attends University there. Some of my family is coming out too, and while I'll have to leave Juno behind, this trip looks to promise some good Instagram photos. Follow along at @streets_stripes!

The Philly Poshmark Party

Last night was the first ever Philly Poshmark Party held at the Le Meridian Hotel at Broad & Arch. Fellow Philadelphian // Austin

"The more run down, the more beautiful it is," says Philly Instagramer Austin, aka "austinXC04". Austin has been photographing Philly through the eye of his iPhone since 2010. Ever since a picture of his cat landed him on the Popular page on Instagram and his account was flooded with followers, Austin decided to use this platform as a way to document his city.

Austin's interest in photography stemmed from his high school years. The photographs hanging on the wall and the photography books his Dad kept around the house left a lingering impression on Austin, and once he graduated high school, with an old Canon film camera in hand, Austin was learning to photograph what he saw.

Philly's Famous Cherry Blossoms

The cherry blossoms are in full swing at Fairmount Park! It's fun to see all the families out taking pictures. It's such a shame they are only around for a couple of weeks. The Sakura festival also happened this weekend and while I wasn't able to make it over, I heard the costumes were pretty show stopping this year!

Learning to Live

The weather has had a mood shift in the past two days. Yesterday it reached 81 degrees! It was a little shocking to say the least, and I had to change out of my jeans and into a denim dress mid-day. This is the brief period of time when the weather is gorgeous and humidity hasn't made an appearance yet. So we celebrated with Rita's and a walk by the water. How are you enjoying the weather?

I feel like some of the goals from last month need to be repeated this month, but that's okay right? I guess I need to find a way to remind myself of my goals more often, otherwise I kind of forget about them until I sit down to write the next set of goals! So here are some new ones and some old ones, but I'm glad I'm at least still trying.

Find more of a schedule and stick to it.
Start saving money for NYC.
House train Juno.
Start eating regular meals and buy groceries instead of picking up.
Finally get rid of those bags of clothes.

It's Live!

Right now (or once you're done reading my blog) head down to the Sony Store at 17th and JFK Boulevard to check out the 50 photos I took with the Sony NEX-5r for the 215 Unedited Project showcasing what I love about Philadelphia! I am SO stoked to see these images (which I traveled all over the city to capture) up at their retail space! You'll get to see some of my favorite pieces of art all over the city and even check out the camera I used to capture them.
