Nick Meeuws, a Netherlands based designer, has created this extensively detailed landscape of the Savanna complete with and elephant, meerkat and monkey. Also with the perfect colors and gradations to really make you feel the heat of the desert and sun. He used a layering technique which adds depth to the piece making it more three dimensional.

Our next artist I have upon a couple of occasions had the pleasure to see his work in person and I have to say that these pictures don't do his work justice. From far away each picture feels to be exactly what it is depicted from, a photograph. Upon moving closer you realize that it IS paper and then the shock and awe ensues.

Thomas Witte, a Brooklyn based paper artist, captures the everyday world we see through the lens of a camera and transforms them into large scale photographs made from cut out pieces of paper.

Los Angeles based graphic designer Jeanie Chong has developed this beautiful and vibrant typography experiment symbolizing Spring. She has taken various sized small pieces of paper and collaged them together as well as made little flowers along the text to make this wonderful piece. The flowers remind me of the "P is for Paper" post by Akaya Ito.

A flock of colorful origami butterflies flutter overhead in this installation, entitled Dream Colourfully, by Dream Interiors and Elixr. This collaborative piece was created for Saturday In Design, an annual event for the design community that alternates each year between Sydney and Melbourne. Each delicate origami butterfly is formed from translucent paper, which allows light to pass through from every angle.

Los Angeles native Jeff Nishinaka is a relief paper sculpture artist who has a stunning array of work that needless to say can blow anyone away. His portfolio spans a wide range including Bloomingdale's, Sprint, Visa, Penn State University, Paramount Pictures and Coca Cola. Over the years he has found various techniques in how to manipulate and bend paper to make these magnificent masterpieces. I'm really happy to have him featured on our site since he is one of my favorite paper artists! Also be sure to check out the videos of the artist in action!

Christina Lihan, who was formally trained as an architect, has created these astoundingly detailed architectural reliefs by intricately hand cutting paper. Her works are mostely sculptural, three-dimensional reliefs of skyscrapers, cityscapes, historic buildings, and European and American landmarks. Throughout her process she carves, cuts, scores, bends and folds watercolor paper by hand to form facades that come alive with shadows, texture, light and details.

The latest quilled portrait from talented paper artist Yulia Brodskaya. From her last piece Loves Doves to this piece, she has definitely changed the tone of colors to be less of a skin tone varient in terms of palette and more vibrant. This woman's face bursts with swirls of color as she smokes her pipe and seems to be a perfect blend into the start of Spring.
