There are few and far in between that can astound the paper world to the degree of paper engineer Benja Harney. With a background graphic design, he expanded upon the next level of exploration of paper where he refined his skills and mastered a medium that at the time seemed very obsolete and slightly unnoticed.

He without a doubt has become one of my favorite artists of his time working in everything from editorial, fashion, and even pop-up books where he constantly challenges himself, yet remains completely humble. Reading his interview with us has been truly inspiring! I have also included below another interview which touched my heart as a designer and continues to reaffirm perseverance of ones dreams. I present to you Sydney-based paper artist Benja Harney.

Transparent God is a large-scale piece handcrafted by Peter Callesen, where an figure is taking shape from a wide range of cut-out people. Some figures lay on the ground, while the others seen to have been pulled to make this figure, leaving only the silhouette of their form to remain. You can see some more of his large-scale sculptures here.

Sehsucht produced the 30 sec. Director Hans-Christoph Schultheiss and his team walked the tightrope between reduction and complexity, aiming to create the characters as human as possible but with a realistically foldable look that carries the complex textures of paper."

Erika Iris Simmons makes composite art portraits of people associated with the item that she has chosen to manipulate. She may be more widely known for her series entitled "Ghost in the Machine" where she took cassette tapes and old film reels to produce portraits of famous individuals.

With this particular series she has taken up a new medium, sheet music, to manifest these delicately intricate portraits which are beautifully executed.

It's been a while since we have written about Paper Donut and you may remember their piece for the Curious Story involving a paper crafted breakfast scene quite reminiscent of Zelda.

Since then, Alexis Facca has been quite busy with the redesigning of the site as well as some pretty cool new projects, one of which happens to be this space music video for French DJ/Composer Matt Mendez entitled Square. Taking the inspiration from the song, the cassette tape evolves throughout this spatial universe from Space to No Man's Land and onward to Crazy City all the while animating and changing colors along the way.

Jim Doran is a self-taught artist based out of Baltimore, Maryland that creates miniature paper worlds in his spare time. He makes these insanely tiny dioramas from recycled containers from small Altoids to sardine canisters complete with little inked paper drawings, which are then cut out and layered into what you see here.
