Woven cover in majestic red with black strap to bind it together.

Comes with DVD of Making Of In Heaven and Get Out. Personally, I love watching Making Of clips because you get to see the artists doing their very best putting a music video together. But! Only purchase this if you know basic Korean because there are no English subtitles provided! The additional QR Movies were redundant IMHO because everything was in slow mo. The only upside of it is, since it's slow mo, you get to see the men in full, handsome glory, check out whose skin is far more luminous and superior and who has the sharper feature among the 3 of them.

Watching In Heaven Full Version made me understand the plot better. But, it was still pretty ambiguous as to the question of "Did he die or not?" Including the teaser version of Get Out was pretty useless. Packaging wise has been top notch but, I think CJeS needs to amp up their game in terms of DVD content. Their target audience must be die-hards but for general fans, if you're looking for longer-than-10-minutes-of-behind-the-scenes-footage, you're not going to get it here.

After purchasing this album and previously reviewed Worldwide Concert in Seoul Box Set, I realize that it's OK to buy bootleg versions of Concert DVDs. The ones that you should invest in are funny, behind-the-scenes, down-to-earth video content like All About TVXQ Season 1-3 and History of Japan Vol.1-4. Unfortunately most of the time, their Japanese releases do not come with English subtitles.

ONLY BUY IT IF YOU'RE A GINORMOUS FAN WHO COLLECTS.

Weighing in at about 2 kilos…this is indeed 100% Hand Made Wood Case. Solid. And pretty.

It's even bigger than my face!

6 High-Quality Photobooks and 5 DVDs. The outer cover is wood, while the white part is just vinyl-plastic.

Making sure that we…

ALWAYS KEEP THE FAITH

But!!!!

I feel that I got cheated. Out of the 5 DVDs, 4 of them are more or less the same. The main one would be the Full Concert Version taken from all angles. 3 of the DVDs are individually-focused on each JYJ member - Jaejoong, Yoochun and Junsu versions - which comes with individual photobooks. The final DVD which shows a 19-minute Making the Concert clip. Not very well edited. Most of the time, it showed the fans in the crowd, and the raw videos during the concert. Raw videos in this case means it has not been mixed and the audio has not been over-dubbed yet as in the Full Concert Version DVD.

Performance-wise, they took the version of the day where the 'tent' that covered the stadium collapsed so, basically, everyone - JYJ, staff and fans - were in harsh winter winds and even snow. Come to think of it, it's pretty amazing being serenaded by JYJ under the falling snow. But, perhaps because of the cold, their voices were not in tip-top condition. Harmonies were sometimes a lil' off-key. The only song that the lip-synced was Mission as it involved heavy dance-steps. But, that's like any other upbeat tempo song that they've done like Rising Sun and O during their TVXQ days.

Most of their mid-tempo and ballads were sung somewhat 'live' as they had a backing track. I've never heard Jae's and Su's voice falter but this seems to be the case in this concert. Both of them usually never have problems reaching their notes but it seems like they struggled for most of the time. There were a few moments where I caught Jae lip-syncing too. I believe their overall song arrangements costs them this. Some keys were too low for Junsu like in 찾았다 . The verse part was too low and could hardly hear him.

In a way the audio mixing was quite good. Either they muted the fans screaming during the concert or fans were very well-behaved that night. Camera works were not fantastic. Sometimes panning to the crowd during solo moments. There were a lot of aerial views of the stadium during songs; sometimes showing empty seats in the higher floors of the stadium. Their in-between songs banter didn't look natural. It was quite flat, although they still made fun of Junsu most of the time. I felt that Yoochun did most of the talking.

The Concert Note basically gave a detailed program note as to what's happening on stage for lights, sound and backdrop. Basically the time line for each song, when does the backdrop change, lights on-off, dancers get on-off stage, etc. Since Jaejoong had a hand in producing this concert, I guess they saw the need to include this information in. Hmm…only if you're interested in stage management and production.

Generally, CJeS really made a big impact in terms of packaging. Choice of camera angles, video clips and content were marginal. I was hoping for more casual, behind-the-scenes footage but that 19-minute clip was not enough. I was hoping for more JYJ banter. Sad. Pros: English-subbed, awesome packaging, high quality photobook. Cons: Over-priced (RM300), not JYJ's best performance, minimal casual everyday JYJ talk.

To Buy or Not To Buy: Only if you're a JYJ-fanatic or you invest in Limited Edition Concert DVD Box Sets.

CNBLUE JYJ 東方神起 Purchases

Check out what came in the mail today…

If it's one thing worth the purchase, it's the packaging.

South Koreans have the most awesome packaging ever! Although they charge a bomb for it, but it's worth every penny. That JYJ Worldwide Concert in Seoul's 5-DVD Box Set is set in wood!!! It'll take me a while to finish watching all of it and do a proper review. I hope it'll come. I also bought In Heaven Limited Edition. Again, packaging is top class. The cover is woven. Nothing quite like it.

This came in the mail too…

Still am, and will ever be a fan of 강민혁. And to support his band although I somehow feel merchandise sales are not part of their salary cut, I can't help it. This year's packaging is even more awesome. The 2012 planner is so so so pretty! I'm actually afraid to open up the packaging because…it's just toooooooo pretty!

Last month, I was sad that my 東方神起 Japanese album collection was incomplete.

Look what I have now:

Do you even understand how super stoked I am this very moment?! Finally!! The collection is complete! Goodness knows when that they're actually going to comeback as a group of 5 again and if like all previous <strike>boybands</strike> vocal groups that die a natural death, albums maybe even out-of-print! So, I asked the supplier if she could help me locate their 1st Japanese studio album…and she did! Korean version = RM50!!!

I need to control my spending on these merchandise. But, Concert DVDs are something that is too difficult to pass up! I've got my eyes on CN BLUE's Blue Storm Concert DVD and I'm pretty sure there'll be some epic releases by Shinhwa come March. In order to receive discounts and free postage service, I'll wait out for that.

Many thanks to Rusi@GO Msia Kmusic Store. She is based in Batu Pahat, Johor. Items sold are much cheaper compared to YesAsia, inclusive of postage. She gets her supplies directly from a supplier in South Korea. Package/parcels usually arrive within 2 weeks after you've made the payment and it takes an extra day for her to package it nicely and securely( she uses LOADS of bubble wrap!) before it can arrive at your doorstep. You can click on the link above to go to their Facebook page, or here to their Blogger.

Alright. I hope I'll have time to do the reviews over the long weekend holiday next week. No doubt, today I is happy!

Men are...

much more emotional that women. This probably happens only in my <strike>unfortunate</strike> family.

Case-in-point #1:

We decide to got out for dinner. Somehow, we forgot to tell you. You call me up and demand to know why you were not being told. How the fuck do you expect to answer you after I said sorry?! You said you already made plans. How come we were not being told of your plans? You don't tell us, why the hell should we tell you? You've been a hermit for the past 5 fucking months; so, don't you stay in locked up in your room anyway? Rant the shit over the phone to me for what? I'm working, in the office. What the hell do you want me to do?

SILENT TREATMENT: ON!

Case-in-point #2:

Your internet connection gets cut off in the middle of work. You wake the entire house up at midnight just to rant. To make matters worst, you threw a <strike>bitchy</strike> hissy fit and trashed the modem and electrical appliance, SCREAMING at the top of your voice AT BLOODY FUCKING MIDNIGHT asking why the fuck you cannot connect to the internet?!?!?! How the hell am I suppose to bloody know?! You insinuated that we sabotaged the connection while you were working. HELLO?!? We were SLEEPING?? If you think we sabotaged your internet usage, then get your own bloody modem and internet account! Don't fucking share! Deal with your own miseries and don't come running to us asking for help! The reaction was totally bloody uncalled for and I may not ever forgive you for it. SO bloody inconsiderate to the family, to be throwing an old man tantrum at freaking midnight just because your internet got disconnected. Like, what kind of bloody logic is there? Internet cannot connect, RESTART YOUR COMPUTER! RESTART THE MODEM! SO FUCKING SIMPLE THING ALSO DON'T KNOW HOW TO DO? WHAT ARE YOU? THREE? BABY ENOUGH TO THROW A FREAKING TANTRUM WHEN THINGS DON'T GO YOUR WAY?

SILENT TREATMENT: DOUBLE-ON!

This brings me to a conclusion:

Nuff said.

First Shopping Spree 2012

Well, what d'ya know? I used to make resolutions but not stick to it -- and judging by my spending last year, I thought I could curb that and spend as minimal as possible. We all know where this is going.

A week till Chinese New Year and we haven't bought our new year's clothes yet. So, mum & I made it a point to get to the nearest mall and try to scour whatever that's on the racks.

Thank goodness parking was a breeze, even though we only left home at 11am. We had expected to be caught in horrible traffic and looked for parking a gazillion times, but luck was on our side today. First up, Robinsons @ The Gardens.

We saw a few nice tops from Joan Allen. Their fabrics are really soft, almost like silk. Here's what I bought: --

Laced white top from Joan Allen @ Robinsons, The Gardens. <strike>RM179</strike> RM143.20 after 20% discount. I've never been a fan of laces and white tops. They stain easily and the lace makes me itch. But, this one just caught my attention and when I tried it on, it wasn't the least itchy! I'm taking risks in to buying a white top and lace. But, I really really like it!

Also, check out the cloche hat from Hat Attack! <strike>RM59</strike> RM47.20 after 20% discount. I've always always wanted hats and I thought these cute english bowls suited my face shape. I don't mind more hats though! But, never knew these things would be so expensive! Hat Attack! is located in the walk-joint of Midvalley and Gardens. It's a cart, so, choices are limited. They have a shop located at Farenheit88 which would have more varieties, but maybe not the discount. Here's a close-up: --

Simple with a tiny bow to give it design. LOVE IT!

I'll be wearing this top, also from Joan Allen in a week's time for Chinese New Year. It's a bit on the dark side, but I bought it for the fabric and also the sleeves. It's always super duper hot during Chinese New Year, so, we need some really thin fabric to keep the heat away! <strike>RM159</strike> RM127.20 after 20% discount. Total damage at Robinson's: RM270.40.

Mom bought 2 other tops from Joan as well. But, that's for her. I can fit into it too, so, we'll leave those for another time of fashion shows.

Next, we headed off to Marks & Spencer. Oh, regret I did!! They were having this HUGE markdown sale since it's after Christmas -- so, most of the things were like almost 80% off!! Tops, Bottoms, Shoes, Dresses… it was insane! Usually, you can't even get an item less than RM50 and there it was, heels going for RM50 per pair!

I've been looking for a dress since there'll be more weddings and functions to attend. So far, I only have my one and only long, wine-colored flowing dress. And now, I have another! I don't care if it's going to showcase my chubby ankles coz frankly, I couldn't care less anymore. So what is my ankles are fat? At least they're more sturdy that those toothpicks!

The dress could have killed me at RM349. But, I only bought it for…
.
.
.
.
.
.
RM99!!! Yes! You read it correctly! RM-friggin-99!!!

Yes. See my fat ankles? Now, I just need to find some strappy heels to camouflage those ankles. But, I love love LOVE the print! And that empire waist-cut…fuhhh…all at the right places!!

I'm still pinching myself for the fact that I only bought it for RM99…a HUGE markdown from RM349!!

Next week, facial and massage, then probably will hit it off to Pavilion to look at the CNY decorations. But, before that, dinner with the ladies! Can't wait Can't wait Can't wait!!! It's gonna be fun fun fun!!!

YOU, of all living things on the entire bloody planet, have no fucking right to say that I'm lonely.
YOU, are the bloody reason that I am lonely.
And, for all these years, I keep telling myself that I have my other half of the family, and people that I can rely on to keep me company.
I don't need your consent, I don't need your permission to find companionship.
There's nothing wrong with being lonely.
So what if I am?!

Sure, there will be nights where I want a cuddle,
There will be times when I just want someone to kiss me
There will be moments where I get jealous looking at couples
There will be stupid holidays celebrating love and what-nots that I wish I had someone to celebrate it with
There will be days where I just want someone to hug me and tell me everything will be OK
But…!

It's great being single. It has always been great.
I don't need to be in a commitment where nothing is certain.
I don't need to take care of another person and can be selfish for myself.
I don't need to take care of someone else's feelings.
I can date anybody I want -- married, single, attached, and / or gay or otherwise
I don't need to buy expensive anniversary, birthday gifts, dinners, lunches, holidays for someone else other than myself…
The idea of being single, available and non-committed…
Hate to say it but so far, so good.

I shot cupid dead 10 years ago, and I'm still alive and living the single life awesomely. So, fuck off.

Mindef vs Google Translate. 0-1

Talk about brilliant idiots!!!

In this past week, there has been reports on how atrocious the quality of the English language on a government website. We're referring to the Ministry of Defense. Here's the portal.

Of course, if you want to witness the winning boo-boos and blunders, it has since been edited or taken down. But, the one thing that gets on my nerves so bad is that the representative have the cheek to blame it on Google Translate!

For those out of the loop, it all started when the article was published in The Star (viewable here).

Since then, they were bombarded with criticism from all angles imaginable and I'm not going to miss out on the fun!

Today, a minister from the department gave a statement and blamed Google Translate for the blunder. You can read the news here. BUT!

HELLO???? Even school students know that you ABSOLUTELY CANNOT rely on Google Translate!! Which empty-minded staff of your department decided to take the easy way to translate something that represents the language quality of the government country?! That person should be sacked and sent back to grade school to learn English grammar!

What did I tell you? Brilliant Idiots!

Like, hello? You have taxpayers money right? Use those funds to hire a professional linguist or professional translators to help you do the job! Your country's universities has language schools / School of Linguistics right?? Pay them some form of appreciation token to get a simple job like this done well. See what happens when you scrooge on good welfare?

So final score:

Nuff said. TSK.

The Saem Taro Teller Face Masks

thesaemcosmetic.com

I decided to try The Sun (Tea Tree). My skin felt minty and very cool as I left it on to work its magic. I like it as its translucent sheet can hold so much essence (25ml) and it doesn't drip! Fits like a glove and I almost fell asleep!

The only thing I didn't like about it is that it contains parabens. If you've read about a post that I made about parabens sometime last year, I've decided not to suppose cosmetics that contain any form of parabens in their products. Unfortunately, I was so attracted to the packaging and design of the Taro Box (who wouldn't!) and received it as a birthday present last year. This product contains methylparaben. "Studies indicate that methylparaben applied on the skin may react with UVB, leading to increased skin aging and DNA damage." ( Methylparaben - Wikipedia)

Anyway, like any face mask, the instructions are about the same. 1) Apply toner after cleansing. 2) Leave on mask for about 20 minutes. 3) Remove mask and pat any excess essence on to skin. I left my mask on for a good half hour. I thought I'd be able to reuse the mask since it has so much essence. But after reading and knowing that it contains parabens, I've decided against it. But, I plan to keep the packaging, because it's too pretty to be thrown out!

If you notice, once the mask dries out, it's not translucent anymore. It actually turned paper-like. Solid. Check out the texture below!

Overall, amongst so many different type of mask sheets, I favored this sheet texture the best. It held on to the essence very well (no dripping), fits onto skin perfectly (minimal air-bubbles) and the change of sheet texture indicates the mask has dried up!

It was very refreshing after using the mask. 1 down. 9 more Taro Tellers to go!

Dating & Marriage
[May] Reason guys are single and to date beyond your type. But, who cares. I'm pretty much doing well on my own.
[Dec] A video on why men & women can't be friends went viral. I found it ridiculously hilarious. Just because it seems like it's the women's fault. I beg to differ. But then again, maybe I'm commitment-phobic. In a strange way, I'm happy that way.

January - April
In January, I ushered 2011 in style. Then, I took the DISC Personality Test which was suppose to be conducted by the uni. I had no patience. Plus, I love tests like these. Miaw Yng and family visited during their summer break. Shu-en and I share the same birthday! It was also the year where I haven't had a crush for a very long time and it happened. I didn't know. Or did I? Basically, confusion took over for that slight moment. But, I'm OK now. The Lunar New Year brought great happiness and a brand new watch! Parents are the greatest people on earth! Most of the time. Hehe. Then, at my ripe age, I still had it going on. Fangirling mode was at maximum Here, here and here. I reminisced about my uni days in April and May. Somehow, I just started missing the wonderful 3.5 years I had. One of the best times of my life. Of all the highs, there will definitely be a low. It was in April with Dad's Health Scare. But, I also reminded myself of Why I Love My Job, which is always great.

May - August

I Dreamed of going to Korea so many times that I had continuous posts related to the country for almost the entire month of May. Here. Here. Here and Here. And of course, someone will always manage to push the feminist button in me. It was official in July that I was allergic to seafood. This has gotten better since. I indulge in small amounts, with the allergy cream ever-ready.

September - December

It was to be the month that I turned 26. A quarter of a century of my life gone. Who would have knew that I'd achieve a lot in 25 years. Graduated at 21. Entered grad school at 22. Started work at 24. Time flies by so fast it's scary. Then, of course, in November there was this ginormous event called the Contemporary Music Festival (CMF) 2011 held by the university. It was the time where I got to work with awesome people and built self-appreciation. Then, in December, things started to chill and feel good pictures and videos began to surface. There was a baby involved too. Life was indeed coming to a good end to 2011.

I'm pretty sure I may have missed out some of the things in the past year. I'm a little apprehensive of what 2012 has for me. But, I don't want to think about it much. It'll just screw up the aura / chi / whachamacallit. Phew. That was a long list. Now, I've gotta go balance my account for 2011. I know I spent a lot. I think I better tighten the account this year and be good. Traveling should be on the list!

It's the day tomorrow! Excited. Anxious. Unprepared! A full productive semester ahead!

The Dating Game

Came across some interesting internet readings:

You Should Date A Literate Girl
You Should Date An Illiterate Girl (Part 1) (Part 2)
Beauty and the Geek: Scientifically Proven Ways to Become More Attractive to Men
10 Traits Men Look for in a Girlfriend
The Gold Miss

Interestingly enough, all articles can swing either way. Positive. Negative.

On a personal perspective, I read. A lot. Therefore, a guy with a decent amount of intellect would be great. I don't want a Mr-Know-It-All, neither do I want D'oh-Homer-Simpson stupidity. Guys who feel intimidated by a girl who reads a lot are just inadequate wussies. Either you well-equip yourself with some form of knowledge or go find yourself a woman dumber than you.

The Gold Miss is a very interesting article. Very much pro-feminist IMO and definitely shares the same sentiments that I have. If it doesn't happen, don't go looking for it. Although there are days where I want someone to cuddle with, telling me things will be OK, listen to my rants and occasional hugs (front or otherwise) and kisses… I'm not desperate to look for someone who will grant these 'wishes'. Sure, actually having a person would be great, but drowning in a good article or busying myself with my career is a good deal for now. Yup. Wonderful excuses to be Little Miss Picky. Sue me.

I truly believe in this. 2012. Go easy on me…please? Thanks.

New Year's Covet: A Kiss

Everyone's making resolutions, hopes and dreams to hopefully be fulfilled in the New Year.

I have been coveting a lot of things towards the end of 2011 and I will continue to do so in 2012. When the thought comes to mind, it comes to blog.

Will I laugh at it when I look back at 2012 in 2013? Will I regret posting such triviality?

Maybe.

2012. Exactly 10 years ago, I had my last kiss.

Yes. 2012. Will this happen… with him?

Yes. 2012. I want. Because I know, he can.

TVXQ 東方神起 8 years on...

What could have been your 8th year anniversary.

네가 얼마나 다 같이 5명 보고싶어 알아요?
Do you know how much I want to see the 5 of you together?

Although you have separated, I still believe that one day, all five of you will stand together on stage, singing the songs that only sound complete with the 5 of you. Current 2-member TVXQ, Rising Sun is just bullshit with just the both of you. Seriously.

I have to admit, vocally and musical creativity-wise, JYJ are my bias. Because of the ban that has been imposed on them, they have no other choice but to compose their own music to keep on singing. Hence, their creativity and musicality expand much further than the stifled other 2-members. Honestly, a 2-member TVXQ shouldn't even be called TVXQ. They are sad and unfortunately kidding themselves. Does leader not remember what he said in an interview? He dared state:

“Only when the five of us are together can we be called TVXQ.” Credits: Yunho-shii forum.

Yeah. Right.

And seriously SM choreographers, what the fuck were you thinking when you came up with this?

Whether it was coincidental or not, It's tacky. It's immature. It's just plain stupid. Go burn and rot in hell.

I'm very proud of how far JYJ has come through out of these 2 years. They are in balls and chains from all forms of publicity, yet, they are doing so well through endorsements (Yoochun 유천), Japanese dramas and composing (Jaejoong 재중) and musicals (Junsu 준수). They've held sold-out concerts in Japan, Europe and America and since they can't sing TVXQ songs, they have enough repertoire of their own for a solid 2-hour concert. On top of that, they go on holidays to rejuvenate and come up with new materials, ideas and concepts for their new compositions.

With this, you can clearly see where my support is. It's no surprise. I support musicality and above all, good quality live-vocal performances, and JYJ shows exactly those qualities. Check this out:

How could it have been if no lawsuit happened? How could it have been if all 5 of them left the company together to fend for themselves? Or worst, how could it have been if all 5 of them continued their contract? All we do now is just wait. Wait for our hopes to come true.

Happy 8th Anniversary to the 5-member 東方神起.

Happy Holidays 2011!!

Haha. Yes. Professional procrastinator and lazy person. They should give out doctoral degrees for this.

Woke up late…like 930am. Had breakfast. Then, dad bought chicken, so had to clean those. After that was when my day really started.

My top shelf of my book cupboard after reorganizing.

It pretty much showcases entire collections of Sophie Kinsella's works, my orchestral study scores, Korean reference books, some Jodi Picoult and Mitch Albom.

Of course, one cannot miss out on the awesome DVD collections that I have on the right corner, together with some CDs that are also collectors' item. Most of my jazz CDs are in another cabinet, as well as in my office. =(

Second shelf had a major overhaul. I cleared out all my violin books. Looking at the amount, I feel really bad for putting down my violin for 3 years now. All the hard work, pencil markings and scribbles on my books brought back memories of how difficult I practiced for my excellent mark in exams. I will pick it back up again. Don't know when. But, I will. Now, all my violin books; the pieces, the etudes, the studies, the scale books from all different levels; Suzuki, Mazas…are in this red bag that I use to carry to piano lessons. 5 years of violin lessons, all in one tiny red bag. It just shows how much repertoire I actually learned. *shame*

This is what my last shelf looks like. Mostly original scores. Mostly classical ones on the far right. Gradually towards the middle, you'll see huge copies of real books, fake books…an awesome transparent-comb-binded Pat Metheny Real Book. Original, mind you. And far left, one of my proudest comic collections. Zits Treasury!! I think I should insure this treasury. As far as I know, it's complete with one still unwrapped!

Here you have it. My book shelf. Gosh. I still have a lot of books hidden. My Archie comics, Yamaha every-grade-level-you-can-think-of books, my finger technique books (mostly in the office). Most of my childhood books like Enid Blyton, Fear Street collections are all in another shelf somewhere. Some are in my mum's book cupboard. So, honestly, the entire family just needs a walk-in library with books and audio CDs shelves.

After that, it was mopping and sweeping out the dust bunnies. It's definitely easier to sweep after mopping coz the dust won't be flying around. Changed bed and pillow covers. Ahh…So comfy.

I'm waiting to complete my collection. Just one more CD Album left!! I hope it's not out of print!

東方神起 Tohoshinki 1st Japanese studio album: Heart, Mind & Soul.

Tomorrow, start on the 3-essay take-home finals paper. really. great. =,=

Now…watch Concert DVDs!!! =D

Lazing

I am exactly like that at the moment.

Here's a to-do list for this week:

clear and re-organize my book cupboard. I need another book cupboard.

start on those 3 essays for take-home finals. This will be on-going until Jan 3rd. Holiday spoiler.

Prepare for my classes next year. All 3 of them. 2 of which are semi-new.

Pack.

Clean my room before the holidays and new year.

Not a lot, right? But, if I'm gonna be looking like that kitty, I'll never get moving.

General Info:

The entire set has 8 types. It sells at SGD$4.30 per mask. Contains no parabens. 23ml each sheet.

There are only 6 here. (From L-R: Aloe Soothing, Green Tea Energy, Honey Nutritive, Moisture Firming, Anti-Trouble, Revitalizing).

Aloe Soothing: with aloe vera & green complex. for soothing and hydrating sensitive skin
Green Tea Energy: with green tea & green complex. for soothing, protecting and quickly hydrating skin
Honey Nutritive: with rape flower honey & green complex. for nourishing and tightening facial contours
Moisture Firming: with cactus & green complex. for improving moisture balance and firmness.
Anti Trouble: with tea tree & green complex. for preventing and speed healing trouble.
Revitalizing: with corn flower & green complex. for invigorating and revitalizing skin

Formalities aside. I tried the Aloe Soothing. With 23ml, the sheet was dripping with the essence! After dripping off the excess, I could still use it for another round even though you're only suppose to use each sheet once.

There's no particular smell to it. But, it was really cooling and soothing. I don't know what is the sheet made out of, but it's super thin and clings to your skin perfectly. No air-bubbles.

I left it on for a good 15 minutes but the sheet still had some essence. Absorption is quite awesome but sometimes drips because of the excess. But that's OK since you can apply it to your neck area.

On the day that I reused it with the remaining essence in the pack, it was another good 15 minutes. Here's what I discovered:

There are actually 2 separate, extremely thin sheets. One is this tissue type of sheet which is the one on my skin, and the other has a bit of texture to it. I know I don't have a good angle of it. Hopefully the next review will do justice to it.

Since it comes from South Korea, all instructions and ingredient names are in Korean. It's pretty standard application (tone first, then apply on the mask for 15-20 minutes, rub any excess after use). But, one thing that I looked for was the use of harmful substance in cosmetics, parabens. Thankfully, this range is all natural and had no 파라벤스 in it.

There are no Innisfree outlets in Malaysia. I was browsing some websites and I came across iHEARTkoreanbeauty which is where Sarah bought it from. It's pretty expensive for one sheet and if you convert to Ringgit, but for every dollar, it is still cheaper than thefaceshop masks that are bought here where a minimum of RM5 for the cheapest range.

Here's the link for this item:
Happy Shopping!

TheFACEshop White Tree Vita Force Eye Serum

Although this product has been discontinued in Malaysia, I still owe it a review.

At a price of RM74.90 for 25ml, this bottle pump worked really well. It's white and creamy in texture. It can be a bit oily but after significant use both day and night, I saw results where the bags of my eyes got lighter. Depending on the frequency of usage and how much you put on, per pump, this bottle lasted me a good 9 months or so.

I know this review doesn't give you much information, but if this range is still continued in your area, rest assured that there will always be a 50% discount for it whenever it is on sale. But, I have a feeling this range has been taken over by the White Tree Snow range.

KLCC Outing before Christmas

Posted Christmas cards --> Lunch Dim Sum at Mandarin Oriental --> Birthday Present hunting, fail --> Kinokuniya retail therapy --> Marks & Spencer Christmas shopping --> Tong Pak Fu (糖百府) dessert --> Research Method. class at UM.

That's the summary of my day today.

It has been a while since my family went out on such an escapade at shopping malls. Right now, money is not an issue when it comes to food because to us, we value the time spent as a family much more. Everyone was relaxed, jokes were thrown all over, I really loved and enjoyed the time so much. More importantly, I was at ease knowing that I had done my homework for class. Even though I found out much later during class that it wasn't the answer that Prof. was looking for, but I learned a whole lot from today's class. Which is why I look forward to Monday classes more than anything!

Anyway, lunch was satisfying. As usual, dim sum at Lai Po Heen, Mandarin Oriental was sinfully satisfying. Prices have rocketed but the quality has not been compromised. In fact, the century egg cubes in the congee are much bigger, so is the prawns and scallops in the dumplings. The fried yams…my all time favorite! No pictures were taken during this because I wanted to take my time to enjoy the food, chew and savor every morsel I had in my mouth. I didn't care if I was allergic to the prawns, scallops or dried prawn sambal…I just enjoyed the moment.

Went birthday present hunting after that…obvious fail. Thinking of other ways and means, but will play by ear when the time comes. I know I'll get lucky. Just need to believe in the how.

Highlight of the day was definitely retail therapy at Kinokuniya. Honestly, they do not provide enough books on music psychology or even phenomenology. It's so difficult to look for books on those topics. But, I was elated when I saw the entire shelf of orchestral study scores restocked to the brim! I spent a good 30 minutes in front of the shelf, browsing and trying out my luck. Lo and behold….
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.

Look at how happy I am!!!

These are the elusive study scores that I thought I'd never find on this side of the world! It has been on my wish-list ever since I got into the study score fever. True to business, they only order one of each of the scores and instinct told me that god knows when I'll ever see it again so…based on sixth sense, I bought them! Even if it costs me almost RM280! I am happy!

Then, the family hit Marks & Spencer. I saw this dress. Dark purple, chiffon and flowing. Oh god…I had to HAVE IT!! So, I took the smallest size on the rack…Size 14.

DAMN!

It was too big! And they did not have any smaller sizes. I was devastated! I could have expanded my evening gown list!! It costs RM400 but it's Christmas! And the dress was PRETTY!!! I guess it just wasn't meant to be. =(

The Mum insisted that she get Christmas presents for all 4 of us 'kids' so, bought a men's cologne 3-bottle gift set and 2 hand creams. Apparently, we'll receive it randomly and gifts are exchangeable. Very flexible santa! =D

In the previous post [here], The Mum, The Bro and I tried Tong Pak Fu (糖百府) Hong Kong Desserts. Today, we brought The Dad along.

I asked them if they had their Black Sesame Snow Ice…unfortunately, they're out of stock for that. Seriously, does everyone crave for black sesame desserts like I do? Anyway, I was in luck since their Black Sesame Creme was available. So, one bowl for me and the Tracka Durian Snow Ice for The Parents.

Black Sesame Creme (Hot Desserts). RM5.80. Super smooth. Super creamy. Sweetness is just right and it has that strong sesame seed taste and smell to it. But, I got 'jelak' after a while so, The Brother helped finish it. Given a choice, I don't think I'd want to have a go at the Black Sesame Snow Ice, but we'll see. Since I've tasted one bowl of their hot dessert and one of the cold, the winner is the Mango Creme with Sago and Pomelo. Read about the review here.

Tracka Durian Snow Ice. RM14.80. According to the shop assistant, the flavor of this dessert is much stronger than The D24 Durian Snow Ice, which is also RM2 cheaper. The Folks being durian lovers, of course I ordered the one that packs the most flavor and punch. It comes with mini glutinous rice balls and grass jelly.

We wanted to try Garrett's Popcorn since it's one of the new stores that opened (the other is Candylicious, Bruno's Gelato & Tong Pak Fu; in that order of shops in their row). But, the line was so massive, we decided that the store is here to stay so we won't bother to stand in line. The phenomenon? Think J&Co. Doughnuts when it first opened in Pavilion. I hate queues, don't you?

Parking at KLCC for about 5 hours came up to RM15.50. Absurd. But, it's KLCC. Gotta expect the exorbitant prices.

Got caught in slight traffic on the way to class. I have a love-hate relationship with Mondays. The Prof. is so unpredictable sometimes, but over the course of 13 weeks, I begin to realize that:

There's no right or wrong. You need to know your area by reading. Nothing. But. READING. That's how you expand your knowledge, know what gaps need to be filled... I can go on with this.

I guess there's always another post…taaaa~~!! ♥♥♥♥

I didn't think much about it at first so, I didn't click to watch it. A friend of mine sent it to me and I thought what the heck and viewed it. Surprisingly, all females said Yes and all males said No. Then, is it the ladies' fault that men and women cannot be friends? Absolutely not! She then asked me what I thought of the video and if the theory is true. Here's my reply:

A: Do u think tht theory is true?
Me: I am proof of it!
A: How? I dont' get it.
Me: Well, I'm friends will all my guy friends, even my exes.
A: But, are the guy friends thinking that way?
Me: How the guy thinks is not my problem. They like me, they're fault for not approaching me. Even if after we break up, I still make the effort to keep in touch with them. But, if they decide not to then it's totally their choice; not that I don't want to be friends. THEY choose not to, but that doesn't mean we cannot be friends.

Here's the video:

What do YOU think?

Mum suggested we head to Amcorp Mall because she wanted to go to Book XCess to get Christmas gifts.

We parked outside of the mall, which cost us RM10! RM4 for the first 2 hours, and RM3 for subsequent hours! WTF! If you park inside the mall, It'll cost you RM4 for the first 2 hours, then RM1 for subsequent hour.

Anyway…we grabbed lunch first at Atap-Atap, a Portuguese Grilled Fish place. We didn't order their specialty. Save it for next time. 4 different types of meals came up less than RM40. That was good.

It was Saturday, so they had their usual flea market fair. Joe's MAC (Music, Accessories & Collectables) caught my attention as they were selling jazz LPs. I scoured their trays of CDs hoping to find gems but had no such luck. I stepped further in to Uncle Joe's shop. And I struck the mother load!!

All this…for….
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
Uncle Joe saw me browsing so excitingly through his boxes of books that he gave me discounts for all my purchases!! Here's what I bought:

1) Jazz in Education Journal = <strike>RM2.20</strike> RM2
2) Roger Kamien Music An Appreciation, 7th Edition (hardcover) = <strike>RM38</strike> RM35
3) Ben Ratliff The Jazz Ear Conversations Over Music = <strike>RM21.90</strike> RM20
4) Albert W. Ketelbey In a Chinese Temple Garden Oriental Fantasy = <strike>RM6.90</strike> RM6
5) Berens Op.61 Newest School of Velocity for the Piano Schirmer Pub. = RM15
6) JB Cramer 50 Studies for the Piano Schirmer Pub. = <strike>RM16.90</strike> RM15
7) Kendall Taylor Principles of Piano Technique and Interpretation = <strike>RM16.90</strike> RM15
8) Compilation of Lagu Melayu Lama = <strike>RM21.90</strike> RM20
9) Hadyn Symphony No.102 Study Score = <strike>RM5.90</strike> RM5

The bill came up to RM133 and Uncle Joe rounded it up to RM130! So nice of him! So exciting…can? Let's just say this was retail therapy after feeling crappy for the past 48 hours. Spent a good hour in his store.

Then, we headed to Book Xcess on the 2nd floor. Again, that place is impossible! I found Zits comics selling for 1/3 of the retail price! I wanted to scream because my entire Zits collection has never been below RM50 and hear it was, selling at RM19.90! WHAT. THE. EFF!!!!! I told mum that now, I'm only shopping at Book Xcess! Bought the Berlitz Korean Dictionary = <strike>RM49.90</strike> RM19.90! That's more than 50% discount…OKAY?!

I think I've found my new book shopping joint. Too bad they only sell fictionals and not many study books or music books. Oh well. There's always Joe's MAC!

After a good day, I'm pumped to finish up those damned assignments! hmph!

1. Do I feel strongly about the need for this?
Yes I do. Students need to learn the ability to think outside the box. Critical and creative thinking and interactive learning is something extremely lacking in today's education system.

2. Does the idea fit my long-held beliefs, values, and convictions?
I have only come to realize this quite recently, but I strongly believe in it. Therefore, I think it's starting to fit and will continue to mould itself. But, who knows? A couple of years down the road and my philosophy may completely change.

3. Have I dreamed about something like this for a long time?
Only when I realized what the education system has done for me, and what it is doing now to today's students that I have started to dream of changing it for the better.

4. Do I think that this is vital for the future of people I care about?
Absolutely.

5. Do I get excited when I think about it, and convey excitement when I talk about it?
Rather than get excited, I get frustrated as I know it's an uphill climb and pose a major struggle in such a close-minded society that believes change will bring nothing good. But, I'm working on that enthusiasm.

6. Am I convinced that this can be accomplished?
Currently, no.

7. Am I willing to put my credibility on the line to promise action on it?
I hope I don't have to.

8. Am I willing to spend time to sell it to others who might not understand or support it?
Only to the people who believes in it like I do. Otherwise, it's talking to an empty vessel.

9. Can I make this the major focus of my activities?
Not at the moment. Working on it… one teeny step at a time.

10. Am I willing to devote personal time, above and beyond organizational time, to see that this happens?
Have not thought of it to such extent. But, I need my life too.

11. Do I feel strongly enough to ignore negativity and fight for this?
Yes.

12. Am I committed to seeing this through, over the long haul?
Indeed. Hopefully the enthusiasm will continue to stay.

Passing the passion test is doesn't guarantee success, but without it, the journey can't even begin.

Good Planning

Nice to plan good things, have good thoughts and execute them all out.

On Monday morning, I had already planned to go to Old Town White Coffee to have my breakfast, armed with some journals. Just before 8am, I ordered my usual, and started reading.

It's such a nice feeling, being able to take my time in my reading, enjoy my breakfast. No rush. No hurry. I made sure I finished reading at least 2 journals in one sitting. About 10am, I walked back to the office. Things got a bit mundane after that, but I'm happy that I manage to finish my assignment for my professor (which he was really happy with the result when I handed it in). Cleared outstanding documents and cleaned my table a little.

I figured if I was going to keep up the activity of eating out every Monday for breakfast, I'd be broke in no time. So today, I changed activity.

Had my usual Milo & Oats for breakfast. Got to the office early. Got the keys to one of the classrooms and studied Dvorak's Symphony No. 9. Had it on the system so things were loud and clear. 'Oiled' my fingers a little after that with some Hanon.

Again, there was no feeling of urgency, no sense of rushed for time. Gosh. I haven't felt like this in a while. And it was good.

I find that planning for what you want to happen for the day helps a lot with the mental preparation. Positivity and Perkiness as an added bonus and it's a recipe for a good day!

I begin to believe in such thoughts. And I 'm loving every moment of it.

That Extra Something

What is?

The previous post in certain paragraphs may have given off a different vibe to people. Not that I'm bothered by it much.

Let's just put it this way:

I am a very rare species left, in this day and age and time.
It is still very much a part of me and is still very much mine.
To take it away from me, you would have to be very very special.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
And I would have to be really really convinced.

Commitment

I am 26…going on 27…

Scientific studies have shown and proved that women between the ages of 20 to 30 years are most fertile. This indirectly relates to relationship, marriage and starting a new family. However, in this day of modernity, I personally beg to differ.

Let's start at the very beginning…:

I had a very tumultuous teenage life. My overbearingly protective father would balk at the thought of me hanging out with friends over the weekends. He'd boom a resounding NO at the mention of going out to malls with friends. I guess raging hormones from the opposite sex was his nightmare. Basically, my teenage life was no better than a prisoner's. I was sent to school early in the morning and picked up from school after co-curicular activities.

Or so I claimed.

Because of his inhabitant nature of keeping me under lock-and-key, I was forced to rebel in the least suspecting way possible. The reason I was sent to school early? Because I claimed to have early roll-calls or meetings. The reason I was picked up from school late? I needed to finish up teacher's assignments or meetings. The truth? Rendezvous with the boy (or boys) that I was seeing at that time. Ahh….puppy love. Oh! Don't get me wrong. I've NEVER stepped out of the school compound. All events took place in school. We just had a really good way of not getting caught. But, the people around us weren't stupid. They were just kind enough to turn a blind eye. Thank you could never be enough.

Truth to be told, there were many reasons why I reacted that way.
#1) Blame it on the raging hormones. Really.
#2) I knew, onset, what I wanted to do after high school. MUSIC.

So, why would I want to waste my time, slave my brain for things that I knew I was <strike>never</strike> hardly going to use? At most, the knowledge will serve as general information to me. Plus, the reality of absorbing knowledge and gorging them out just for the sake of exams was *yawn*… So, I concentrated on what I know best and I want. English. English Lit. and Music.

Something Good…:

My last boyfriend was when I was 17. Since then, the only relationship I've had was my love for my craft. My love for my interest. I was finally doing what I wanted to do. And now, I definitely want to do more. I want to continue to improve my craft. I want to improve the system. I want to make things better for the younger generation. My commitment towards this art has no boundaries. I am not a sacrificial lamb. I'm just a person who can only concentrate on one thing at a time.

Could things have been any different? Maybe.

Do I miss having someone to cuddle with?
Do I miss getting surprise presents and kisses?
Do I miss receiving back hugs and holding hands?
Of course I do.

The moment when my heart skips a beat at the sound of an incoming text message.
The moment when I have someone to listen to all my rants.
The moment when I need to take care of him when he's sick.
The moment, knowing that I have someone…
Of course I miss those.

A God-gifted genetically good looking, caring, rich husband
Tiny pitter-patter of 3 young children who will never grow up
Crisp white kitchen with a built-in oven
A walk-in his & her closets
Adjoining study room-cum-library and a music studio
White picket fences
Of course I want those.

Climb(ing) Every Mountain:

The reason I'm writing all of this is to serve as a reminder to myself. That I wouldn't have it any other way at this point. There are so much more things to discover, to learn and to improve. My life can wait. I have a wonderful supportive family, awesome friends, great colleagues, challenging students…I've got a whole different chapter waiting for me. A chapter that I would like to explore all the possibilities. A chapter that I want to find the answers to my questions on my craft. A chapter that will be able to help the arts community.

I'm glad that people around me are concerned about my life. How I'm at my supposedly prime, without a partner. In all honesty, I am happy. As much as I envy how my friends have found their Other, I am satisfied that I still have Me. Who knows, in all of my preoccupied-ness, the other part of happiness will come knocking on my door.

Amen.
